Zorn and Gio were slowly making their way from the forest buffer zone that stood in between the equatorial region and the capital city of Kanassa. Zorn could not yet see the city’s horizon, but Gio said that it wouldn’t be long until it would come into view. The two marched their way across the rocky, dusty soil of Kanassa, the sound of dust crushing beneath Zorn’s boots. He and Gio had come a long way. Much further than most Kanassans were allowed to travel in their life time. Only specific Kanassans were allowed to travel from the tribal towns of the planet to the much further advanced capital city where the upper class Kanassans and the Kanassan Army called home. Zorn equated the setup of the Kanassan planet to that of Planet Vegeta, with the main Saiyan population living inside the capital city and the tribes living in the outskirts of the planet. Zorn was very interested to see what the Kanassan capital city looked at, but also very honored, for not many outsiders had ever gotten to see the Kanassan capital. As the bright morning sun of Kanassa came up over the horizon, Zorn caught a glimpse of a glimmer up ahead quite some ways. Gio must have saw it as well because he turned his head towards Zorn and gave a ghoulish smile that only a Kanassan could give. Zorn smiled back and nodded as they picked up the pace of their walk a bit. Within the next thirty minutes, the city came into better view. So much that Zorn could now make out individual buildings that outlined the city’s horizon and gave it character. ”We are almost there, Zorn. I would say about another half hour and we will reach the city’s protective barrier,” Gio commented in a very scratchy, audible voice. ”Protective barrier? What are you talking about, Gio?” Zorn responded. Gio looked at Zorn with a bit of a stunned look on his face, like Zorn was an idiot for not knowing what he was talking about. Zorn gave him a blank stare back, indicating that he truly knew nothing about the Kanassan capital city. Very few Kanassans outside the capital city actually know what the capital looks like, let alone its inner workings, so Zorn had very little information to go off of from reading thoughts and memories of the villagers before they left. ”After the destruction of most of our civilization by the Saiyan Oozaru attack force, the leaders of our race decided that a good defense system was necessary to defend the most important part of our civilization. The capital city is surrounded by a protective barrier that was constructed and formulated to keep everything out. There are various areas around the city where you must enter if you wish to get into the city. They are like check-in stations where each person must be searched thoroughly before they are let into the city. This is where you will get questioned the most when we arrive. Although the elders from our village have contacted the authorities in the city beforehand, they will still interrogate you to see for themselves that you are trust worthy.” ”Interrogated? What kind of interrogation?” ”That, Zorn, I do not know. You will be the first outsider that I know of to enter the capital city since the days of the Saiyan invasion. So this is a very big deal and you will be treated as an outsider. Even if they allow you to enter and say they trust you, you will be watched every second by the strongest warriors of the Kanassan Army. Do not be alarmed. They are just being cautious as would anyone else. So my advice to you would be to comply with whatever they want and stay calm, otherwise they could deny you entry or make you leave immediately if you are already inside the city. You understand me, Zorn?” Gio explained carefully, telepathically. Zorn simply nodded in acceptance of the information as they grew ever closer to the capital city. Zorn could not see the protective barrier that surrounded the city, but Zorn knew that this held a very strategic advantage if the barrier was in fact completely transparent. Zorn inspected every inch of the city as they grew closer with each step. Normally, Zorn would be marching into battle and looking for strategic plans that would allow him to defeat his opponents easily. Zorn was doing the same thing now, but now he was looking at it from a friendly situation. The weaknesses that he could pick out now could be used in his interrogation to show that he was a friend and an ally. By now they were only a few hundred yards from the city and the sky scrapers that towered above them were gigantic. They were quite tall, taller than those on Vegeta, and entirely cased in glass. The architecture of the buildings were magnificent, even the smaller buildings were carefully constructed and skillfully built to make the city look simply astounding and lavish. Zorn and Gio both admired its beauty as they approached the southern entrance to the city. Ahead of them was a large doorway that stood about fifty feet high, but it was a very unusual looking door. Guards stood watch over the gate, but no one was going in or out of the gate. The gate itself was blue, but still somewhat transparent, just not clear as the rest of the barrier was. As the two of them approached, several more guards came from the twenty foot high walls that probably projected the protective barrier over the city. They had blasters pointed at Zorn and Gio as they approached the gate. Zorn watched them carefully until they finally got within fifty feet of the gate. Both of them then heard the telepathic shouts to halt, which they complied with. The guards rushed out and surrounded the two of them, pointing their blasters at them. Zorn kept his telepathic abilities extended, trying to read the guards’ minds, but he couldn’t and didn’t understand why. But he noticed that they all wore matching helmets that were very thick. Zorn assumed that this allowed telepathic abilities to go out but not to infiltrate in. Zorn thought this peculiar, but it made sense if they thought there could be an invasion from their own people. Zorn wasn’t getting any other telepathic messages, but when he looked at Gio, it seemed he was receiving instructions from the guards. ”They want you on your hands and knees, Zorn. They are going to bring out a device that will ensure their safety. You will have to wear it around your waist and it will have shackles that attach to your wrists and ankles. Will you comply?” Gio said in his scratchy voice. Zorn nodded in agreement and Gio went back to communicating with the guards as Zorn followed along in Gio’s mind. As he did, he lowered himself to his knees and place his hands behind his head as if he were surrendering, showing that he had nothing to hide and nothing to surprise them with as they cuffed him. ------------------------------------------------ WC= 1,200 TWC= 1,200 |

Zorn was down on his knees with his hands flattened behind his head as more Kanassan guards came out of the large wall that surrounded the city and projected the invisible barrier that enclosed the capital city from the outside world. Soon, two Kanassan guards appeared with a contraption that looked like handcuffs dangling from it. Zorn watched carefully as they approached him and without saying a word to the Saiyan who knelt before them. They proceeded to strap the contraption onto him without explaining a thing to him. The guards strapped a thick, hulking belt around him that must have weighed a good forty to fifty pounds alone. Dangling from the thick, black belt was four solid rebar lines with shackles on the ends of them. The belt appeared fairly simple, latching closed with a metal clip and a belt buckle that closed over top of it. They next moved on to clasping the shackles shut around both of Zorn’s wrists and ankles. The leader of the guards walked over to Zorn’s position and bent over, touching the belt buckle. Zorn looked down to see what he was doing. When the Kanassan touched it, the belt buckle lit up into a number pad of some sorts. Typing in a coded number quickly, engaged the belt. Suddenly, it was as if all the energy in Zorn’s body was sucked from his veins and made irrelevant immediately. It drug Zorn down and made it hard to even stand as the Kanassan guards picked him up and got him to his feet. They led him and Gio towards the gate of the capital city where more guards had gathered. The gate was still closed, however, as civilian Kanassans watched from the clear, blue gate that stood between them and the horrifying Saiyan they all feared from history. For many, it may have been the first time they had ever seen a foreigner, let alone a Saiyan that held enough destructive power to destroy their planet ten times over. But they would have to wait to get a closer look at him. Zorn drug his feet along as best he could, the belt still sucking his power from him mightily. They brought him and Gio through a doorway in the outside wall. A long corridor with several doors appeared as Zorn was brought in. Gio was put in the very first room inside the outside wall and was joined by two guards while two more stood watch outside the door. Six guards proceeded to escort Zorn further down the corridor, passing door after door after door until finally they got to a larger opening in the corridor where more guards with blasters and an official looking Kanassan stood in wait. Stopping before the Kanassan official, they greeted each other telepathically, or so Zorn assumed since he could not pick up any of their messages due to the helmets that they wore. Zorn waited patiently, although his belly seemed to be grumbling due to hunger. The belt that sapped his energy was also making him hungry, telling his body to refuel. Zorn stood there, beginning to feel light headed as nothing was happening or at least not that he could tell from the silence around him. Zorn swooned and teetered before finally falling to his knees and then collapsing on the ground in pure fatigue. The Kanassans around him scrambled to drag him into a room and seat him in a chair. The official looking Kanassan entered the room and typed into the small key pad on the belt buckle around Zorn’s waist. Finally, his blurring vision and extreme fatigue disappeared and he was more focused on what was going on around him. He sat in a chair in front of a large metal table, another empty chair on the other side of the table. The Kanassan official made his way around the table and sat down, but as he did he waved the two guards that stood by the open door away. They both left, closing the door behind them. The Kanassan official sat down in the empty chair across the table from the shackled Zorn, where he crossed his right leg over his left and lifted the protective helmet from his head, placing it on the table before crossing his arms over his chest. With a faint grin on his face, the Kanassan official began to speak in a scratchy voice that was like nails on a chalkboard to Zorn. ”What a pleasure it is to finally meet a Saiyan face to face and have the chance to converse with him. My name in General Ja’hai, commanding officer of the Kanassan Army and Protective Forces. And what might your name be, Saiyan?” ”My name is Zorn, an Elite Class Saiyan Warrior,” Zorn responded calmly. ”And what is your business here on Kanassa and why do you wish to enter our capital?” ”I came here with a few of my allies that are now off planet to explore the universe and its beings. Very little is known about the Kanassan planet and your race, so we thought that we would investigate. As for my wish to enter your capital city, I have heard that is the most magnificent city on the planet and wish to experience it while I am here. Basically, I am site seeing.” ”Do you find me that naïve, Saiyan? To really think that you are here out of genuine curiosity with no underlying means to the race of conquering warriors you belong to?” General Ja’hai said in his scratchy voice. This made Zorn’s blood boil for a moment as the General’s words struck a nerve deep inside him. But Zorn was able to corral his emotions quickly and keep them under control. Zorn could feel his constraints still sucking the energy out of his body and keeping him very weak. The tall Saiyan looked at the empty table top and then smirked as he locked his eyes back on the General. ”I am here on accord of my own free will. I hold no orders from the Saiayan Army at this time as I am on leave from my duties. But I promise you, General, that I am a very unique member of my race. Not as blood thirsty as my kinsman.” The General looked unconvinced by Zorn’s words. Zorn could now easily tell, for he could sense the General in his mind, searching about his thoughts for the true answer. From what Zorn had learned amidst his training with the elders was that the untrained mind would not be able to tell if another was inside his head if that man was well trained. The General was sure to be well trained, but so was Zorn, who could sense his every move inside his mind. Zorn smiled strongly. The General was unaware of Zorn’s abilities as he probed his mind thoroughly. ”You will find only the truth of my ways in my mind, General. I hide nothing from you in order to show you a sign of good faith. Search as much as you would like. My mind is an open book, sir,” Zorn said telepathically, all the while with a large grin on his face. The look on the face of General Ja’hai was one of shock and utter surprise when Zorn’s voice popped into his head. He quickly scrambled to put his helmet back on and rushed from the room in a fury, knocking over the chair he sat in as he slammed the door shut. Zorn still wore the grin on his face as he was left alone in the room to ponder if they would still let him into the city. What was to be his fate on this day on the Kanassan planet. ---------------------------------------------- WC=1,300 TWC=2,500 |

Zorn sat silent and still in his holding room, awaiting the return of the Kanassan General or another group of guards to transport him somewhere else. But the time was ticking by, and no one came. Zorn attempted to raise his power level slightly with the shackles and belt still strapped to him, but it was useless. Any power he emitted, the belt quickly soaked it up and held it. Zorn was beginning to get a bit antsy, waiting the verdict as to whether or not he would be allowed to enter the capital city of Kanassa. Zorn scanned the room and the hallway outside for power signatures and telepathic readings, but was unable to. It was as if the room blocked everything from the outside world out, keeping Zorn contained. This was intelligent of the Kanassans. It seemed that they had learned from their run in with the Saiyan invaders of the past and taken extreme measures to ensure that it never happened again. ”Well done, Kanassans,” Zorn said out loud to himself. Just as he did, the door swung open and General Ja’hai entered, flanked by a guard on either side of him. He stood there for a moment with a stern look upon his face, crossing his arms across his scaly chest. Then, with not a single word, he grinned slightly and took his helmet off, placing it on the table between the two of them. ”So you can hear me, Saiyan?” Ja’hai said telepathically. Zorn smiled before answering, ”Yes, sir. I most certainly can. I have trained under the roof of the Hidden Temple in the Forest of Illusions and have passed the tests of the elders who trained me in the arts of telepathy and telekinesis. I earned the trust of Gio and his people which is why they entrusted me with the cunning skills of your race. Even more so, they trusted me enough to send me here after getting it approved ahead of time. I only come to see your wondrous city and to help in any way that I can. I bring no ill will upon you or your people.” ”I know all of this already, Zorn. Your friend Gio told me everything about your time here on the planet and how you have been a most gracious guest. But you, coming from a warrior race, can understand our precaution due to your power and our past experience with your race. But Gio and the elders from his village vouch for your character and your trustworthiness. But we will still take our precautions, understand?” ”Yes, General Ja’hai. Understood. But in order to move around better, I will need more power than what you are giving me now. Can that be arranged?” ”I believe that can be arranged, but first, we need to look at what your true power entails. Do you mind? We have a research center just down the hallway where they will take readings and scans of your body. All you have to do is stand there and remain patient. Can we count on your cooperation?” ”I suppose….I am not used to being a test subject. But on this one occasion I will bite my lip and take it.” General Ja’hai nodded and placed the shiny metal helmet back on his head while the two guards that accompanied him came and grabbed Zorn’s arms. They helped him out of the chair and ushered him out of the room and into the hallway heading further into the outer wall of the capital city. It was quite the impressive structure, with steal and stone walls at least eight feet thick with the generators and projectors of the city’s defense shield sitting in the ceilings of the base wall. Single bulb lights hung from the ceiling walls about every ten feet, giving off just enough glow to light up the hallway. The Kanassans led him into a room that’s walls were lined with scientific machines and technologies that could do damned near anything that scientists would need them to do. In the center of the massive room was a ten by ten foot pad that stuck out among the rest of the concrete floor that surrounded it. The two guards helped Zorn into the middle of the ten by ten foot pad and then retreated from the pad, leaving him to stand alone while many Kanassan scientists worked vigorously around the room. A scientist yelled loudly, “Initiating generator in three…two…one…generator activated.” Suddenly, a slightly visible barrier emanated, closing the ten by ten foot pad into a cube that contained Zorn. From the floor, a small hole opened up and a mechanical arm extended out, typing numbers into the belt buckle that obstructed Zorn’s power flow. The mechanical arm deactivated the belt as Zorn felt the rush of his power return to his body. As soon as it happened, the scientists began to take readings rapidly. Zorn watched the flurry going on outside the cube as General Ja’hai watched intently. Not long after the readings started, Gio entered and took a stand just behind the General, watching with a bit of fright on his face. “His power level reading is at eighty thousand, sir,” said one of the scientists sitting in front of a bank of monitors to the General. Zorn smirked at the reading and then suppressed his energy as low as he could. “Wait sir! It is dropping off drastically! I don’t understand!” The General looked a bit surprised as he turned his gaze from the reporting scientist to Zorn, catching sight of Zorn’s grin. Zorn winked devilishly at the General who furrowed his brows deeply. ”Zorn…there is something that you are not telling us. Are you toying with us?” ”Perhaps, General,” Zorn said with a sheepish grin. ”Do not toy with us, Zorn! If you want us to trust you, show us your true power! NOW!” General Ja’hai screamed out the order. Zorn’s face straightened and his eyes narrowed. He figured that the projected cube was the same as the protective barrier that surrounded the capital city, making it safe for the scientists to study the Saiyan. But General Ja’hai’s negative and ordering tone had set the bulky Saiyan on edge a bit. The General had shown the true disregard and respect of a being that was superior in every aspect. Had Zorn truly been acting friendly just to get into the city and wreak havoc, the General would have just fueled the fire. But Zorn was a man of his word. ”I will show you a power you have never seen before, General,” Zorn said through gritted teeth as his power level began to surge. He crouched slightly and began to power up, his red aura appearing around him with a great crimson glow. His power level began to skyrocket as his muscles bulked and his veins popped out of his skin. A low grumble emanated from deep in his throat as his power level surpassed one-hundred thousand and continued to climb. Zorn dug deep into his gut, remembering all the evil things of his past. All the hurt and anguish that he had suffered and all that loomed in front of him as the darkness of evil was ever present. He pushed harder to show off his true power. With a large explosion of energy, the shackles that held his wrists and ankles to the power belt around his waist were ripped loose and Zorn’s power continued to rise. The irises of his eyes disappeared into the whites of his eyes as he shifted into his Giji Saiyan Transformation. His muscles doubled in size and his power level spiked drastically, finally topping out. The scientists were in great awe as their readings and scans were collecting thousands of bits of data by the second. Zorn burned at his highest power level for twenty minutes, allowing them to collect what data they needed before he finally powered down and returned to his walking power level which was under one hundred, masking him from any enemies that might be lurking about. General Ja’hai stood in awe, as did Gio and the guards that stood behind him. They had never seen such a power with their own eyes, as none of them were old enough to have seen the Saiyan Oozarus when they attacked over a hundred years ago. But amidst the awe, a small clap of appreciation and gratitude began to sound into a full applause. Zorn nodded in thanks and then awaited the next step in the proceedings of the day. ”That was quite impressive, Zorn! I applaud and thank you for the show. But I am sorry to say that for the safety of our people, we must still restrict your power level as we let you into the city. Will you comply, Zorn?” Zorn looked a little sullen at the words spoken by General Ja’hai, but nodded. ”I accept that, as you must protect your people from any danger. I would do the same. But it irks me slightly that you still do not trust me, even after the message sent by the elders of Gio’s village, Gio’s testimony of my character himself, and several acts of good faith on my own behalf. But do what you must, General,” Zorn said in a testy tone. The General and the scientists were unsure how they would get a new restrictor belt on Zorn without releasing him from the protective cube that contained him. They discussed it as Zorn listened on quietly with his telepathic ability, knowing that they knew very little of the combative world as the Kanassans were mostly isolated except for their small interactions with the Avalanian Protectorate that watched over them and gave them aid in rebuilding their planet. Zorn shook his head before clearing his throat loudly to get everyone’s attention. When he had their attention, he telepathically sent a mental image that step by step showed them what they needed to do. The guards would seal the doors of the room and set their blasters to their highest settings while Zorn stood still in the ten by ten foot square. The scientists would lower the cube and keep their scanners running to make sure that Zorn kept his power level low. If he did begin to raise it, it would take time, which would give the guards a chance to take him down with the high powered blasters. Meanwhile, Gio would be the one to come and hook Zorn up and re-shackle him, giving the least possibility that Zorn would act against the Kanassan that had been escorting him around the planet. The General, being the most important man the room, would leave before all this happened and watch from the outside. If anything did go down, he could assemble a response team in an attempt to take Zorn down before he could take out the city. Everyone agreed with the plan that Zorn came up with and executed it without a single hitch. The General was grateful for Zorn’s help and allowed him the range of power level up to one thousand. This was high enough that Zorn could move around comfortably without feeling sluggish at all. Zorn was led out of the room with the scientists and down the hall to where they had entered from outside. The tour was to begin. ------------------------------------------------------------------- WC=1,900 TWC=4,400 |

Zorn and Gio were reunited as they were escorted by the Kanassan guards and General Ja’hai out of the hallway inside the outer wall and back the area just outside the protective gate of the city. It was now nearly midday, as the proceedings with Zorn had taken nearly all morning in their extensiveness. But now, finally, Zorn was being allowed to enter the Kanassan capital city. Something no other Saiyan in one hundred years could say he did. Zorn was told that he and Gio would be given a guided tour by General Ja’hai himself while being accompanied by several guards for safety’s sake. Zorn nodded in agreement and then awaited entry to the city. Zorn was anxious to see exactly what it was like. Zorn had seen some of the most impressive cities that the entire universe had to offer, including the capital cities of Vegeta, Avalon, and Earth. Entering the Kanassan capital city would only add to the already impressive list that he had accumulated. Zorn looked at Gio and could see the excitement in his friend’s eyes. Kanassans from the outer villages were lucky if they ever got an in person glimpse of their own capital city. Only a choice few were selected to see it besides those that lived in the city. General Ja’hai led the way as the semi-transparent doorway of the main gate vanished, allowing the group to enter and begin their tour around the city. Zorn was amazed at the amount of extreme detail that went into the architecture of the buildings of the city. The contrast in technological advancement and architectural prowess between the capital city and the villages like Gio’s was tremendous, like the two locations were on two totally separate planets. Zorn had so many questions to ask, but was unsure how welcome questions would be. ”General, would it be out of line to ask you some questions as the tour goes on?” Zorn asked as politely as he could. ”I don’t see any problem in that. If they are questions that I should not answer, I will simply decline to answer for the sake of security and safety of my people. But ask away, Zorn. You too, Gio,” the General responded. They walked through the most extravagant portion of the city as they headed towards the center of the city. Tall skyscrapers lined the city streets as hundreds and hundreds of Kanassans walked the streets, giving horrific and stunned looks Zorn’s way as they recognized him to be a Saiyan. Zorn took notice of this, but stayed calm and under control as he felt like a caged animal with the belt and shackles that sapped him of his powers. He was just there to take in the sights, not to stir up an trouble that could drive up tensions with the Kanassans who were members of the Avalanian Protectorate, which was an adversarial alliance of planets that did not always get along with the Saiyan Empire. But Zorn quickly put this fact in the back of his mind as the tour continued. General Ja’hai gave very basic tour information, talking about the different buildings and what they were, but not going into any great detail about them. But the vague generalities that the General spoke in ramped up Zorn’s thoughts as he began to stock pile questions, waiting for the best time to ask them. During a lull in the tour as they made their way down town, Zorn found the perfect time to begin asking questions. ”So General, how come the capital city is so much more technologically and architecturally advanced than the other villages around the planet?” ”Well, Zorn. After the Saiyan Oozaru attacks, the entire planet was left devastated and all of our technology was destroyed, along with the scientists that had developed our technologies. For a couple of decades after the attacks, our civilization barely scrapped by, living primitively in small villages. It wasn’t until the Avalanians came to our planet and saw the distress that our people were in. They offered their assistance by accepting us into their planetary alliance and giving us aid. But their aid was just meant to get us on our feet and headed in the right direction. With our capital city quickly approaching self-sufficiency and total completion, our technology and architectural experts will soon be spreading out to the villages of the planet in an attempt to build other cities like the capital itself. Including the defensive capabilities that protect our capital city.” Zorn nodded to show that he understood what the General had said. And it did indeed make sense that rebuilding the entire planet would be a task that took a very long time. These things did not just happen overnight and the Saiyans were proof of that. Their society had taken a long time to develop, even after they had taken a majority of it from another race. But Zorn had more questions racing through his mind. ”What kind of military forces do you have and how do you train them? Do you have an academy where they receive military training?” Zorn asking inquisitively. General Ja’hei narrowed his eyes slightly at the Saiyan and pondered a moment before deciding that it was safe to answer. ”We have close to one-hundred thousand soldiers who are adequately trained in the arts of telepathy and telekinesis. They are all volunteers who have willingly dedicated their lives to protecting this planet. The skills that they accumulate along the way give them enough powers to fend off any enemies that could possibly threaten our civilization. But we do not have an academy where we train our soldiers physically.” ”Why not? What happens when they are attacked by another force that is as strong as the Saiyan Oozarus? Your warriors are not trained in the arts of physical combat and ki mastery. That leaves a lot of room for the chances that your military can be overcome,” Zorn retorted. ”The mind is greater than the body! Our soldiers’ mental capabilities far exceed any others throughout the universe.” ”But what happens when someone comes and is equipped with something like the helmets that you are equipped with or with their own telepathic and telekinetic abilities? Then it comes down to a physical battle. What then?” ”Then we rely on our defensive barriers and hold out against our foes until the Avalanians arrive to help us.” ”And how long will that take? A week? Longer? What happens if they break through your defenses? Then what? What is your second line of defense?” Zorn asked vigorously. ”They, the Avalanians, have assured us that help would arrive immediately. And how do you think that anyone would break through the most state-of-the-art defensive system in the universe?” Zorn smirked slightly and chuckled softly. He thought that the General was being very naïve about the possibilities of an attack and the true nature of warfare. But Zorn would be respectful the best he could without being cocky and arrogant about his own race, which was physically and tactically superior to the Kanassans. ”Not to be rude, sir. But any First Class Saiyan Warrior could blast a hole through the base of your wall in less than five minutes. The stone and block wall that holds the generators that projects your defensive barrier over the rest of the city is the weakness of your defensive system. I would suggest installing further generators that will cover your walls and close the hole in your defense. You could simply bury them, as that model of defensive barrier should travel through the surface. Also, be sure to have subterranean sensors to make sure that they do not tunnel underneath you. Of course, these are just suggestions, General Ja’hai, sir,” Zorn explained. The General looked awe struck as he listened to Zorn speak. How did the Saiyan know so much about their defensive system and how to improve after spending less than two hours inside the city? It was impossible. But yet, the changes were plausible and would increase the effectiveness of their defensive system. The General put a strong look on his face before returning a comment to Zorn. ”Those are all good suggestions, Zorn. Thank you. We will take them into consideration. Is there anything else before we make our way into the city’s main government building?” ”I think that it would be wise to train your soldiers in the ways of physical and energy combat, just to be on the safe side. A simple academy and training center could be built inside the city to ensure that the soldiers are properly trained to ward of an enemy with their mental, physical, and energy attacks. I do not believe that it would be that hard to accomplish.” ”And who is going to train them? We are not a physical warrior class like you Saiyans. Who do we have to train them in that manner? You? Are you going to stick around and train the Kanassan Army? I don’t think that your superiors would appreciate that very much, Zorn.” ”No, they would not. You are right about that, General. But I know someone who has the skills to train your soldiers.” ”And who might that be, Zorn?” responded the General somewhat snobbishly. Zorn smiled and turned his attention to Gio. With a nod of his head, he indicated Gio. ”Gio has been trained in the arts of physical and energy combat, under my watchful eye. He is not yet a master, but I have no doubt in my mind that it will not take him long. With practice, perfection is made. I can give aid to the point of giving basic training videos and manuals to Gio, which he can teach to your soldiers. To further help, I would contact your allies in the Avalanians and see what they have to offer. They have quite a few good warriors and know how to train warriors.” Gio looked quite stunned that Zorn had volunteered him to train the entire Kanassan Army after only having trained with Zorn for a couple of days. But Zorn had faith in the young Kanassan. This would allow him to move to the capital city and further his training on his own. This would not give the Kanassans a huge, immediate boost in military prowess, but it would get them started and get them going in the right direction. ”That is quite a statement of faith in young Gio, Zorn. But if he is up to the task we would be honored to have him. We can finalize the arrangements with the Council of Elders when we get inside.” Zorn nodded and looked up to see a magnificent building that radiated more than any of the others. ---------------------------------------------------------- WC=1,800 TWC=6,200 |

Gio and Zorn were carefully escorted up the heavily decorated steps of the capital building in the center of the Kanassan capital city. The building was elegant and lavishly designed on the outside to show its importance to the rest of the city. Visitors would surely know that they were at the capital building when they presented themselves at the bottom of the steps. Zorn was admiring the building's make up when he stumbled slightly over the shackles that bound his ankles. Zorn was beginning to get frustrated with the shackles and wished them gone, but knew that the Kanassans, especially General Ja'hai, would not agree to free him of his chains. So he would just have to bare with it. It was slow going as Zorn had to take his time with each individual step. He could tell that the soldiers escorting him were getting frustrated by the expressions on their faces. Zorn chuckled slightly, but the soldiers on either side of him shot him a quick glare of disapproval in the Saiyans laugh that quickly stifled the chuckle. The General had gone on ahead of the group and was already at the top of the stairs awaiting Zorn and the guards to catch up with him. He stood firmly with his arms crossed over his chest and his brows furrowed on his face. ”Move it!” the General ordered loudly through a telepathic link that echoed in Zorn's head. It wasn't Zorn's fault that it was taking so long. If they would just removed the shackles and only require him to wear the belt that restricted his power level, then this wouldn't be taking so long. Zon attempted to elevate himself and using his ability of flight to quickly deliver his to the top steps of the capital building, but the belt restricted him from doing so. Surely another precaution that the belt was made to take into accountability. He looked up to see that General growing ever more impatient with every passing second, as he tapped his foot vigorously. Finally, he extended his arms and Zorn was suddenly taken by surprise as he rose in the air and was moved from his location half way up the steps to being sat down right next to the General. The General had used his telekinetic abilities to speed up the process. Zorn was sat down roughly, which didn't bode well with the muscular Saiyan. ”Next time a little warning would be appreciated, General.” Zorn snapped slightly. ”Well, I don't have all day to wait on a monkey who can't walk up a simple flight of stairs!” the General said with a hyper tone as he stepped chest to chest with Zorn. ”Not my fault that I am in these shackles, General. You have had every opportunity to get me out of them and have refused.” ”It is your race's fault that you are in those chains like a slave. If they could control themselves, this planet and our relations would be quite different. So blame your own people!” ”That was over a hundred years ago!” Zorn yelled as he turned away from the General and headed towards the main door of the capital building. ”Get over it, General.” The General huffed loudly as he and the guards hurried to keep up with Zorn and Gio, eventually taking the lead and directing them to great deliberating room of the capital building. The General led the way as they entered the room through two massively built wooden doors that were carved with intricate detail of scenes in Kanassan history. At the head of the room sat a group of Kanassan elders that looked very similar to the elders that Zorn trained under in the Hidden Temple just a few days before. The group slowly made their way up towards the Council of Elders and awaited to be called upon. General Ja'hai removed his helmet as he stood in front of the elders. The head of the council made direct eye contact with the General as Zorn listened into their conversation using his own abilities. The elder than looked around the General and made eye contact with Zorn. Zorn closed his eyes and nodded to the elder to give his respect and then began to speak to the elder telepathically. ”Greetings, your humble Elder. I thank you for having an audience with me on this day, as I realize that you are always very busy in your daily job of bringing this great planet back to prosperity that it once had in the past. I have received a welcoming tour from the General and have given some feed back to him of areas in which to improve your defenses and your military. I hope that you take them seriously as some of your weaknesses could one day be your downfall, again. I bring no ill will or disregard for your race, as I know our two races have a negative past. But I am not here on the behalf of my Empire, but rather on my own behalf as an adventurer.” Zorn finished his little speech and then waited for the head elder to respond to him, but it took some time. But rather, instead of the Head Elder talking to him mentally, the Elder searched Zorn's brain. He looked at every memory that Zorn had accumulated in his brain and sifted through them as he pleased. Zorn had nothing to hide, so he let the elder do as he pleased. Perhaps it would end all of the bull of Zorn having to wear the shackles. Zorn could only hope. But the Head Elder would see everything in his past. His darkest secrets and dreams. ”Ahhh...Zorn. Indeed it seems that you have come on your own behalf and with good will. Your ideas to improve our defenses are most impressive and should be implemented quickly. We thank you for that. Now, it seems that you have volunteered your friend Gio to train our troops in the way of physical and ki attacks. Is this correct?” asked the Head Elder. ”Yes sir, it is. He is very capable even though he is still a learner himself. But I believe that he has the proper training from me and the type of attitude that is needed to continue his training on his own as well as train others. But I believe that General Ja'hai is somewhat skeptical about this proposal,” Zorn responded telepathically. ”Is this true, General?” the Head Elder said aloud in a scratchy voice. ”Is what true?” the General said defensively. ”That you are skeptical about the ideas that our guest has suggested? Especially the one about young Gio, here, training our army in the ways of physical and ki combat?” ”Yes, sir! I am skeptical of everything that comes out of this Saiyan's mouth. We should not trust him. He is telling us these changes to make so that he can report back to his superiors about our status so they may wage yet another war on us as they did a hundred years ago. So yes, I am skeptical.” ”Ja'hai! I have read his mind, his thoughts, his visions. He has no intention of doing us harm. He is good at heart, even if he has his doubts about himself. Perhaps to ease your mind, General, you would like to see a demonstration of the fighting techniques Zorn and Gio wish our warriors to learn. Guards! Release Zorn from his shackles, but leave the energy restrictor on around his waist,” the elder ordered. All of the members of the Council of Elders looked pleased with this decision, but General Ja'hai did not. And he objected strenuously. ”Elder! Are you insane? Even with a power level of one-thousand, he could easily kill any of you. We must keep him shackled!” ”General Ja'hai! You are out of line! If you disagree with this, you are free to leave. Otherwise I suggest that you keep your mouth shut and watch carefully. Do you understand?” ”Yes sir. Understood,” the General said like a child being scolded by his parent. The guards moved over to Zorn and removed the shackles from his wrists and ankles. The freedom was most welcomed by Zorn, who stretched his limbs and limbered up. Gio did the same as some servants moved things around in the Great Room so as to make room for the demonstration. The Head Elder assured Gio and Zorn that they could give it their all without the need to worry about breaking anything. This was good to know, as even with a low power level, Zorn could cause some damage, as could Gio if an attack got away from him. Zorn and Gio squared off, bowing to one another and then taking up their fighting stances. The two agreed to give a show of physical attacks first, followed by a demonstration of ki attacks. For the next few minutes, Zorn and Gio exchanged punches and kicks left and right. They were giving it everything that they had, with Zorn pushing the action and beginning to show off more advanced moves that Gio had never seen before. Gio kept up as best he could, but finally Zorn swept his feet out from underneath Gio and took the victory in the physical demonstration. Next, they moved on to the ki demonstration, where Gio started out by firing two small ki blasts. Zorn negated them, by firing two of his own. The Elders all clapped loudly as they were happy to see the skill that a Kanassan was showing them. The two continued to show off, firing attacks at one another and negating them. Zorn charged and fired a larger one that he was able to control and direct, throwing it out the window of the Great Room and directing it up at the protective barrier that covered the city, where the attack exploded and dissipated. Everyone but the General clapped. ”Simple tricks! How will these make our army stronger?” yelled the General. ”Why don't you help me out then, General? What do I need to do to show you that these techniques will truly help your army?” Zorn asked. ”Nothing! The mind is stronger than these attacks. Watch!” With his mind, the General lifted up a large, decorative rock that sat in the corner of the room and flung it at Zorn. Zorn smiled slightly and then used his own telekinetic powers to suspend the rock in the air and then shot a Double Energy Wave at the rock, shattering it into hundreds of tiny rocks. All of the Elders gasped slightly, and then there was silence followed by loud clapping. Zorn didn't understand at first, but the Head Elder explained why they were clapping so vigorously. ”That rock that you just shattered is the hardest know rock on this planet! That is what the lower part of our defensive wall is made out of. That just goes to show how strong your ki attacks are, Zorn. And I believe that I speak for all of the members of the Council of Elders, that we approve of your request to have Gio train our military. It will be done, along with your other suggestions. We thank you dearly, Zorn. Please, stay with us awhile and be our guest.” ”I am afraid that I must decline, Head Elder, as my trip to the capital was only meant to be a one day visit. I do not want to intrude on your lives anymore, as I know that you all have went through a many great rigors to protect and defend your city and people while I was here. So I shall not intrude any longer. I also have training to get back to at Gio's village before I prepare to leave your great planet. I have enjoyed my time here. Thank you for your hospitality,” Zorn said as he bowed to the Council of Elders. Zorn was escorted out of the Great Room by the General, the guards, and Gio, but the shackles were left off. They retreated to the top steps of the capital building where they stood in a group. This would be where they would part ways. Zorn would make the trek back to the village alone as Gio would stay and begin preparing to train the Kanassan Army with the General. This would be a hard good bye for Zorn, as he had learned a great deal from Gio. They had become good friends during Zorn's time on Kanassa, but now it was time for them to go their separate ways. --------------------------------------------- WC=2,106 TWC= 8,306 |

”You will be escorted back to the gate where you entered, Zorn. Once you are on the outside of the gate and beyond the city walls, the guards that escort you will remove the belt that restricts your power level. I can’t say that this experience has been enjoyable, Zorn. But I will say this. May we never meet again,” General Ja’hai said with a disgustful tone in his voice as he took a few paces away and waited for Gio to join him. The two of them would be heading to check out a suitable location for the new military training center that Gio would operate in conjunction with General Ja’hai in order to train the members of the Kanassan Army. Zorn would be returning to the village where Gio was from alone, to continue his training and master his telekinetic powers before he went off planet. He was in no real rush to get off the planet, but had other places that he wanted to go and explore before resuming his rank and file duties in the Saiyan Army. The couple of guards that stood watch as Zorn’s escorts took a few steps back and allowed Zorn and Gio to say goodbye to one another. They had arrived together, but would be parting ways as they moved on to bigger and better things. Gio walked up to within a few feet of Zorn and smiled. Zorn nodded and smiled back. ”Good luck, Gio. This will be a long and challenging journey for you.” ”Do you think I am ready for this, Zorn?” Gio asked in his crackling voice. ”I have the utmost faith in your abilities, Gio. A few words of advice would be to train hard, as hard as your body will allow you. When you are instructing, be hard on your students, it will only make them stronger in the end. If they can’t handle it, then that proves that they shouldn’t be there. Don’t take any flak from anyone, including the bitter old General. Your skills are more advanced than his and he should respect you for it. Be tough and be strong like I know you can, Gio,” Zorn said with a vote of strong confidence in his voice. Gio smiled and the two shook hands before Gio took his position next to General Ja’hai. The two of the headed towards the other side of the capital building as Zorn and his escorts headed back towards the edge of town where Zorn and Gio had entered the capital city. It had been a very interesting experience, but Zorn was ready to be out of the belt and have complete control over his power again. He was glad to have been able to help not only his friend Gio advance himself in this world, but also help the Kanassans protect themselves better in the future. Zorn knew in his heart that he was doing the right thing and that he would not be sorry. He was making it a point to do good in the universe for fear of what lied in his heart. The Head Elder of the Council had touched on it slightly, sensing it when he waded through Zorn’s mind, but he was not a fortune teller. No one could tell what Zorn’s future held for him, whether it was one of light or darkness. Zorn could only control the here and now. And right now, he was focused on doing good, righteous deeds. It only took a little more than an hour to reach the city gate where Zorn had entered. He was taken through the gate, with the gate closing behind him. The guards led him a good five-hundred yards away before making him kneel so they could take the power belt off of him. Zorn knelt down facing the city and put his hands behind his head. The guards removed the belt and gave him instructions not to move until they were safely inside the city walls. Zorn nodded in agreement as the guards began to back away, keeping their blasters pointed at him until they were far enough away that they felt comfortable turning around and running back to the city. When Zorn saw the gate to the city rise and then close once more, he rose to his feet and turned to walk back towards the village from which he had come from. This time he was on his own, but he was sure he could find his way back without the guide of Gio. It would be a struggle, but Zorn’s memory was strong and he had the skills to return from which he came from. He began his journey back, taking his time as he walked and taking in the sites as he approached the luscious forest that lied between him and the equatorial region of the Kanassan planet. When he returned to the village, his little hiatus from his telekinetic training would be over. It would be time to get back to training under the watchful eyes of the Kanassan masters of telepathic mastery. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- WC=850 TWC=9,156 |
