Zorn had recently returned from the capital city of Kanassa and was now back in the village that had given him refuge ever since he and his friends had landed on the planet. Zorn was glad to be back and see his friends, but he had much catching up to do. Everyone gathered around that night for a special festival to welcome Zorn back to the village, but Zorn had a lot of questions to answer as well. All the Kanassans wanted to know what the capital city was like, as they had never been there themselves. They hung on every single word that Zorn had to say as he described it in great detail to the entire crowd that huddled around him. The night was growing extremely late as the fires began to die out and the Kanassans began to retreat to their thatched huts. Zorn sat idly by, warming himself by the fire as he pulled his long cloak tightly around his body. The large Saiyan stared into the flames that were beginning to die down into orange glowing embers, but they still emitted a great deal of heat. There was a lot on his mind, as he did not know what he wanted to do with his future. He had no real plans of any sorts as he looked even to the next day. There was no direction in his life any longer. Before, he had been vanquished from his home planet of Vegeta-sei for his lack of warrior like spirit and leadership qualities. That fueled him to become a stronger warrior and obtain the necessary skills that would allow him to return to his home planet and return the pride and honor that was due to his family name. After that, he worked diligently to make his way through the ranks of the Saiyan Army, where he finally became an Elite Class Warrior that was respected by all. He even had found a woman that could one day be his mate, but had yet to officially receive that title. His trip to Kanassa was a fact finding trip, or rather, an adventure that he had set out on with his friends. His friends Jorlece, Kamatayan, and Goku had become his closet allies; forming the group they all called Justified Tyrannicide. They all had the goal of doing good by the universe and stomping out evil. But now, his friends had gone from the planet and taken their travels and adventures elsewhere. Zorn had decided to stay behind and get to know the Kanassans and their planet better, which so far had turned out to be a good decision. But now, after seeing what he wanted to see of the Kanassan planet, he was without a plan for the future. He could return to Vegeta to Hoxi and the Saiyan Army, but that would mean the return to mundane duties at the every beck and call of the Saiyan Army. That did not sound good to Zorn. Zorn wanted to keep progressing his fighting ability and train with all of the best masters throughout the universe. But he missed Hoxi and wanted to see her badly. Perhaps he would make a quick pit stop on Vegeta-sei and pick up Hoxi. He would only stop long enough to set the junk yard and shop up with someone they trusted to run it before leaving and heading out together. Hoxi could train right alongside Zorn and become a strong female fighter in her own sense. She was already one of the strongest women he knew. She could be even stronger with the help of some professional training and time away from the drags of the working on space ships and the junking world. Perhaps that was a good option. At least then they could be together on an everyday basis. But his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the head elder of village. He walked up quietly, but his mind was reaching out to Zorn’s mind, which was off thinking about his future prospects. Apparently there was something that the elder wanted to talk about. ”Zorn….sorry to interrupt your nightly brood by the fire, but there is something that I wish to talk to you about. May I join you?” The elder asked telepathically. Zorn nodded in acceptance to the request and watched as the elder sat down on a large log across the fire pit from Zorn. The elder wore a baggy, beat up brown robe that was tied by a simple piece of rope around the waist. The elder crossed his arms across his chest and wore a serious expression on his face. With the elder being quite old, Zorn figured that this whole conversation would take place through a telepathic link between the two. And sure enough, the elder did not disappoint, starting the conversation out through telepathic thought. ”Zorn, I hope you don’t think that I am being overly intrusive, but I have been doing a bit of eavesdropping into your thoughts as you sit there. I sense that you are confused at what your future holds for you. Is this a safe assumption?” the elder asked Zorn telepathically. ”That would be a very safe assumption, elder. It seems that I have reached the end of everything that I wanted accomplish in my life. I thought at an early age that I wanted to conquer worlds for the Saiyan Army and be regarded as one of the strongest Saiyans in the history of the universe. But somewhere along the way, I had a change of heart and have no wish to conquer worlds. Instead I want to help those who can’t help themselves, a defender of the weak. But now, I don’t know what to do or where to go. I do not want to just become a drifter who roams around the universe. I want to have a purpose in life. But I don’t know where to start. Any ideas for me, Grand Elder?” ”Well, Zorn. That is why I came over here. I believe that there is a way that I can help. Well, I can point you in a direction that will give you some guidance, but it is a start. Are you willing to give it a try?” ”Yes, elder. I am most certainly willing to give it a try. Please, tell me what I have to do.” ”Deep in the Forest of Illusions, deeper than you have ever been, lives an old soothsayer who spends every waking moment of his existence meditating. His name is Ru’ketal and he is regarded as the most powerful soothsayer on the entire planet, perhaps even in the entire universe. His skills in fortune telling and meditation are eons beyond anyone else. Perhaps if you can find him, for only a seldom few ever have the good fortune and skill to do so, he could help point you in the right direction. It will be a long journey that tests your skills, but I believe that you have the pure will power to attempt finding him in the Forest of Illusion. What do you say, Zorn?” ”I am in, elder. I best get going right away!” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WC=1,200 TWC= 1,200 |

Zorn immediately returned to the thatched hut that the Kanassans let him reside in while staying in the village. He gathered up all of his gear and situated his armor comfortably on his body before draping his black cloak over his shoulders and raising the hood over his head. As he stepped back out into the night air, a chill cut through him. There wasn’t a single cloud over head, but the stars shined brightly, making it fairly easy for Zorn to see in the distance. The tall, young Saiyan walked out of the village and headed towards the Forest of Illusion, where the village elder told him he would find the greatest soothsayer in the universe. But like everything else on the Kanassan planet, Zorn was sure that there would be a trial or task that would be hard to overcome, especially since the person he was trying to find was located within the Forest of Illusion. After some deal of time, Zorn finally reached the entrance to the Forest of Illusion, which he had been to numerous times. He entered the forest, which was very dark, but on this night the path inside the forest was lit by several torches, surely set out by the Kanassan elders that dwelled in the Hidden Temple. Zorn walked gingerly down the lit path, deeper into the Forest of Illusion. Zorn thought that he had been to and explored most of the Forest of Illusion, but he had never run into the soothsayer, meaning that there was still more to find. He continued walking past several locations in which he had remembered being at and taking his trials with the masters of the Hidden Temple. But he needed to go deeper into the forest. Using his mind to guide him, as well as his senses, Zorn slowly wound his way through the thick trees of the forest as all light faded from sight and the Saiyan was left walking in the pitch black darkness. His eyes slowly adjusted, allowing him to make out objects only when he was very close to them. This made traveling very slow and methodical. The gifted Saiyan needed a new plan to increase his travel speed. Zorn flared up his ki and let a small aura envelope his body, giving off a soft red glow and allowing Zorn to see his surroundings. This part of the forest, which Zorn had never been a witness to before, was very dark and moist as the Zorn could feel the cool, damp chill of the air on his skin. There was a low cloud of fog that simmered near the ground and a small mist came and went as he continued to walk. The vegetation, or lack thereof, was very noticeable. It appeared that at one time, this area of the forest was once bright and lush with green leaves. But now, due to the darkness of the area, the limbs of the trees and shrubbery inside the forest were now black with mold and moss and without any leaves. There was no sign of life, even from animals, to be seen or heard. But Zorn pressed on with his senses out and his aura acting as a lantern to lead the way. As Zorn continued to walk, the fog thickened around him and began to stifle his aura, leaving him once again without the ability to see what was around him. Zorn was being cautious, not knowing what was around him. Lightning began to flash around him, which made him nervous, for he knew that the lightning itself would have formed inside the canopy of the trees in the forest. Or…the lightning was being formulated by something or someone. Could it all be inside his head? As he continued to walk on, Zorn began to feel a bit funny, like he wasn’t alone in the forest. Suddenly, a scream sounded and a roar followed directly after it. In the following flashes of lightning and fog, Zorn saw a frightening sight. A large Oozaru appeared, covered in jet black fur and wearing Royal Saiyan Armor. It was wreaking havoc on an area that was unknown to Zorn, as he watched on like he was watching a video on the big screen of a theatre. He watched as the scene unfolded in front of him, terrified at what he was watching. Mouth Blasts came roaring from the jowls of the Oozaru as he decimated everything around him. Another flash of lightning and the scene changed to an up close view of the Oozaru who was now chewing on a piece of flesh with gruesome red blood dripping down his cheeks and off his sharp fangs. Zorn could do nothing but stand there and watch as the Oozaru in the scene was meant to be him. It terrified him, like the dreams that he periodically had about turning into his worst nightmare. Turning evil at the drop of a hat. He knew that it was inside of him, but he wanted to contain it. Zorn shook his head and clenched his eyes and teeth shut, hoping and praying that the scenes would go away. Finally he yelled, knowing this was being cast upon him. ”Where are you, Soothsayer?! Show yourself and stop this nonsense! I know that it is you doing this to me and that you can see into my mind. I wish an audience with you. A peaceful one, as I have trained with and become a member of the Order of the Saljuk as well as was told where to find you from the village elder near here. So please, show yourself!” Zorn yelled loudly in desperation. With a flash of lightning the scenes of the Oozaru were gone and the fog began to lift as Zorn’s aura once again became the prominent light in the area. Just ahead of him, however, in the darkness, was a faint white light. Zorn approached the white light and it grew slightly bigger. When he was finally close to it and within reaching distance, he brightened his aura to see the source of the white light. What he saw next startled him. In the red glow of Zorn’s aura sat a wrinkled old Kanassan dressed in rags. But the white light that was being projected through the darkness was coming from a small gem that seemed to be pressed into the wrinkled skin of the elder’s forehead. Zorn took a slight step back as he peered on, the elder’s eyes were calmly shut. ”Are you….” Zorn said very softly. As Zorn began to talk, the old Kanassan’s eyes shot open and he stared directly at Zorn with an eerie look in his eyes. The Kanassan said nothing as he had startled Zorn tremendously. Zorn stared directly into the Kanassan’s eyes as he waited for him to acknowledge him. ”Are you…the soothsayer?” Zorn asked softly once more. There was a moment of silence that was oddly creepy before the old Kanassan finally spoke. ”Yes, I am Ru’ketal, the Kanassan Soothsayer. I have been expecting you for some time, Zorn. Ever since you showed up here on this peaceful planet,” the Kanassan Soothsayer said. ------------------------------------------------------- WC=1,200 TWC=2,400 |

Zorn looked a bit surprised by what Ru’ketal was saying through the telepathic link that came through crystal clear in Zorn’s head. The soothsayer had been expecting him ever since he touched down on the Kanassan soil. This was odd to Zorn, but it was also impressive if the soothsayer had been expecting him for the last two months while Zorn wandered around the Kanassan planet and trained his mind in the ways of telepathy and telekinesis. ”Sit, Zorn. Join me in meditation,” the wise soothsayer asked of the tall Saiyan. Zorn sat down and folded up his legs, sitting cross legged directly across from Ru’ketal. Zorn looked around him, but all he could see was darkness. The gem encrusted in Ru’ketal’s forehead gave off a glow that lit the surrounding area enough to see one another, but nothing else could be seen in the pitch black. Zorn then placed his forearms on top of his folded knees and peered forward at the soothsayer, who returned the gaze. Zorn thought to himself, “What is it that he is supposed to tell me? Why have I come here?” No sooner did Zorn think that, did Ru’ketal respond quickly, telepathically. ”All in due time, Zorn. You must be patient. Many people come searching for me, but never find me. It takes a great deal of skill and know how to find my location, and you are the first one I have seen in over a decade. Do you know what a soothsayer is, Zorn?” Ru’ketal asked. ”A fortune teller,” Zorn responded. A smile came across Ru’ketal’s face. ”Somewhat. But usually a fortune teller tells the future with certainty. I on the other hand tell you what the future holds, but it can change with the decisions and moments that happen in life. There are not too many fortune tellers in the universe that can say with one-hundred percent accuracy what one’s future holds for them. So instead of calling myself a fortune teller, I call myself a soothsayer. One that can look into the future and tell you what major events are coming in your life. But when you eventually come to that event, you must make the decision that could send your life down one path or another. Does that make sense?” Zorn simply nodded in the affirmative as he hung on every word that the soothsayer had to tell him. Zorn would soon find out about an event that would ultimately become a life defining moment for Zorn. He wanted to know what his future held and what possible decision could come for him. This would prepare him. ”Now, we need to get into a meditative state so that I may freely enter your mind and search through the future events that shall unfold in your life, Zorn. Relax and calm your mind just the way that you know how to,” Ru’ketal ordered. Zorn nodded once more in the affirmative and set out to calm his mind. He closed his eyes lightly and began to clear his mind, slowing his breathing and focusing on opening his mind so that the soothsayer could enter and do what he needed to do. As Zorn’s mind slipped further and further into relaxation, the more he could feel the soothsayer moving about in his mind, like a mole burrowing its way through the ground. Only the ground was Zorn’s mind. Suddenly, there was a flash of bright light and it now appeared like Zorn was in a dream land, watching as third party while the scene played out. The terrain was unlike any other that Zorn had ever saw before, which meant that one day Zorn would be traveling to a new planet on a conquest for more adventures like the ones he had on Kanassa. The terrain contained rolling hills with dense forests being seen in the background, many miles away. The ground around the hills was dusty, like it hadn’t rained in months. Zorn saw nothing but the occasional dust cloud blow by, until something caught his attention out of the left corner of his eye. Zorn quickly averted his attention to the movement. Upon further examination, it was a high speed chaser vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, kicking up dust behind it as it sped forward. There were four people in the chaser. Three burly looking male Saiyans and a female Saiyan manned the chaser, but it was no Sunday picnic drive for them. About three hundred yards behind them was another vehicle giving chase and closing slightly, from what Zorn could tell. As it drew closer, Zorn’s heart fell into his stomach. It was himself riding on his dirt bike, giving chase as he held the throttle wide open. Quickly shooting his eyes back to the chaser vehicle with the four passengers, Zorn squinted carefully at the passengers to see who they were. When Zorn recognized the female, his eyes got very wide and his jaw dropped open. It was Hoxi! Bound and gagged as a prisoner to the three burly Saiyans who held her captive. What the hell was going on? ”Sometime in the near future, your friend Hoxi will be taken captive on your home planet and kidnapped away to another planet that I do not know of. But you will give chase because you love her and truly care for her, even if it doesn’t always show to everyone else. Right now you are giving chase, trying to get her back, but the Saiyans that took her are being difficult to deal with.” Zorn clenched his fists and teeth in fury, but his heart ached with fear at the chance of possibly losing Hoxi, knowing she might have to experience this if he was not able to stop it before they took her. But when would it happen? ”Why did they take her? When will this happen? How can I stop it?” Zorn rattled off questions at the soothsayer. ”I do not know who will take her or for what reason they will take her. Nor do I know the specific time that this will happen. As for stopping it…only fate can decide this. Perhaps you are in the right place at the right time. Perhaps you will not be. Only fate and destiny can predict that. Please, continue to watch. There is more.” Zorn continued to watch as his alternate being grew closer and closer, eventually pulling up even with the chaser vehicle. They attempted to knock Zorn over by bumping into him, but Zorn reacted quickly by swerving. Soon, he pulled out ahead of the chaser vehicle and prepared himself on the motorcycle to dismount at the high rate of speed in which he was traveling. In the blink of an eye, Zorn jumped off the dirt bike and directly in front of the chaser vehicle, facing it. Using his superior strength, Zorn caught the front nose of the chaser vehicle and dug his feet into the dry soil beneath him. The chaser vehicle pushed him, but slowly, it lost speed and slowed to stop. Once stopped, Zorn charged a high powered Blast Punch and drove it through the hood of the chaser vehicle, damaging the engine and making it un-drivable. The three burly Saiyans dismounted the vehicle, one holding the bound and gagged Hoxi by the neck with a blaster pointed at her temple. The soldier yelled at Zorn not to come any closer or he would blow Hoxi’s head off. Zorn and the three soldiers exchanged demands and continued to talk out the situation in a way that would lead to no one getting hurt, especially Hoxi. But suddenly, the dream-like world was gone and darkness returned as Zorn felt the soothsayer leave his mind. Zorn’s eyes shot open. ”That’s it?! That is all that I get to see? That didn’t tell me anything! And surely didn’t tell me what decision I would have to make when the time comes. I couldn’t even hear what they were negotiating! Take me back!” Re’kutal shook his head slowly. ”I cannot, Zorn. Calm yourself. That was all that was there to see. A decision would be made in the next instant that could ultimately affect you for the rest of your life. Only you can make that decision and nothing I show you or could show you will be able to influence that decision. One thing I can tell you, though, is an answer that you have been looking for and searching deep within. It may not be the answer that you are looking for, but an answer nonetheless. Would you like to hear?” ”Forgive my rudeness, Re’kutal. Yes, I would like to hear an answer I have been looking for.” Zorn responded. ”The darkness you feel inside…can be stifled or it can be set free. But only one thing will determine that. Hoxi.” ”How will Hoxi determine if my inner darkness comes out or not?” ”Her life will. If you keep her and make her your mate, you will keep the inner darkness at bay and continue your path of goodness. But…if Hoxi should happen to perish in one way or another, your soul will become vengeful and the darkness will prevail. You will go on a rampage of epic proportions that shall forever change the universe. That is the answer that I can give you.” Zorn’s whole body went numb. That was not the answer Zorn was looking for. It seemed that Zorn and Hoxi’s fates and destinies were intertwined with one another. Zorn needed to leave right away and go to protect Hoxi. He began to get up and leave the soothsayer without another word, thanking him in his head. ”Zorn….your place is here for now. Your time on Kanassa is not finished. There are still things you need to learn before leaving. Without them, you will not have the skills to do what you must in the future. You must stay here.” ”But I must protect Hoxi, Ru’ketal!” Zorn yelled as he turned back towards the soothsayer. ”I know your predicament, Zorn. But if you do not complete your training here on Kanassa, you will not have the skills to save Hoxi’s life in the future. I can promise you that.” ”So what am I supposed to do? Just sit around here and meditate, training my mind some more while Hoxi is possibly taken captive back on Vegeta-sei?” ”No! You need to further your training by taking the Grand Master’s Challenge. Return to the Hidden Temple and request to take the Grand Master’s Challenge. That shall get your skills another step closer to mastery and the level that they need to be at in order to save Hoxi.” Zorn hung his head in anger and frustration, but took a deep breath and calmed himself. ”As you say, Re’kutal. Thank you for your insight,” Zorn said as he began to walk away, back towards the Hidden Temple. ”You’re welcome, Zorn. Perhaps we shall meet again in the future…” ------------------------------------------------------ WC=1,838 TWC=4,238 |
