Gohan stood on planet Yaidrat with two fingers to his forehead. He scanned the galaxy until he found the familiar energy signature – Earth. Time to get going. He removed his fingers, not needing to search anymore now that he had found his destination. He vanished from sight, reappearing on another familiar planet. But Gohan immediately knew he wasn’t on Earth. “What the hell?” He said to nobody in particular, looking around to find himself on what seemed to be planet Kanassa. So dark energy controlled where he went to, as well. Wouldn’t it ever just let him do what he wanted? Nevertheless, he realised that dark energy probably wouldn’t let him leave this planet, so he began to wander around, hearing nothing but his steps against the rock for a long time. Finally, however, he found a temple. A strange looking temple, surrounding by people. Some of these people were in pairs, standing opposite each other, looking like they were having some sort of struggle in their minds. Some were alone, attempting to lift different weights without touching them. One person was, without moving, building something out of a pile of steel. Obviously these people were training their psychic powers. Gohan knew a bit about psychic powers himself. In fact, he had gained them in a freak accident with the gem that gave everyone on Kanassa psychic abilities. That had been a messed up day, but the powers were definitely useful in a fight. As Gohan walked towards the temple, somebody stopped their solo training and turned to him. “I haven’t seen you around,” the psychic said. “Are you new?” “I just got here,” Gohan said. “But I’d like to join the training here.” He had just made that decision. He figured, if dark energy was going to take him here, why not have a play around? He’d always wanted to boost his psychic abilities since he’d gotten them. And it wasn’t like he had to get back to Earth’s dark sage within a certain amount of time or anything. It was about time he had a break. Gohan was led inside the temple, where he saw even more impressive psychics training. “Why are some of you training outside?” He asked. “The lesser members train outside, whereas the stronger members and the masters train in the temple,” the psychic who had stopped to help him said. “Here we are, this should be Ja'vei's room.” They had stopped at a small, closed door. “Well, good luck,” the psychic said, returning to his training. Gohan raised his hand, about to knock. “Come in,” a voice said, before he made contact with the door. Confused, he opened the door and walked in, closing it behind him. The room was completely empty, made of old stone. A man was meditating in the middle, hovering above the ground. Gohan approached cautiously, his footsteps echoing against the stone. Ja'vei opened his eyes and then floated to the ground, standing again. There was a flash and suddenly all around them the half saiyan could see space. The stars and planets were rocketing by, as if they were soaring past at light speed even though they were still standing on invisible ground. “I know what you are here for,” the master said. “So let’s get right to it, shall we?” “Sure.” “Ja’vei and you’re Gohan. And if you want to get into this school, you’re going to have to take three tests. The first of these is the test of patience.” “Well that could be a problem.” Ja’vei smiled. Gohan stood for a few seconds, waiting for him to say something else. But he didn’t. Ja’vei sat still, doing absolutely nothing. Gohan realised that either this guy had randomly died on the spot or the test had begun, and he stuck with the latter theory. So there he stood, completely still, not saying anything. He had no idea how long they just stood there, in space, but it felt like an hour or so later when he started feeling strange urges. His saiyan side began to get the better of him, and more and more he wanted to punch something. He wanted to move, damn it. It was like an itch but much worse. “Damnit!” He yelled, stomping his foot. Ja’vei looked at him in some concern. “It’s only been five minutes, Gohan. The test goes for an hour. Please, go practice your patience for a while before coming back.” Gohan glumly walked out of the room, frustrated with his pathetic patience. He couldn’t ever learn to pass that test, so he might as well not bother. But all of a sudden, the door to the temple opened, and a group of five men ran in. “We’re here for the leader!” One of them yelled. Gohan was shocked to notice that they were saiyans. He was pretty sure they were still hunting him. His suspicions were confirmed as one of them pointed at him. “Hey, it’s that Gohan fellow!” He yelled. The super elite charged Gohan, punching him in the side and knocking the half saiyan off his feet before stopping at the door to master Ja'vei's room and opening it, walking in. Gohan got up slowly, checking the other saiyan’s power level. He could feel it was about the same as his, and ran into master Ja'vei's room. It was back to the normal temple effect. The super elite saiyan drew a weapon from his holster and fired it at Ja’vei, who was unsure what the meaning of the sudden entry was. Gohan watched, staring as a string of electricity fired out of the gun and into Ja’vei. The half saiyan could tell that master Ja'vei was in a heap of pain, and when the shock was over Ja’vei stood, pathetically. The saiyan began to interrogate Ja’vei, and Gohan stepped back outside. The students and masters were frozen in place, not sure what was happening as the four remaining saiyans began to tell them all not to move or speak. Gohan stood still as well, until somebody spoke in his head. ‘Kid, I need your help.’ ‘Who are you?’ He responded, knowing enough about psychic powers to speak in people’s head. ‘I’m one of the Saljuk masters, I’m standing just to your right.’ Gohan shifted his head to see the master. There, a young man was standing. ‘Why are you talking to me?’ ‘Because I need your help. There is a weapon that will destroy these saiyans, but it is on top of one of the temple pillars. I need you to distract the saiyans while I go to get it.’ Gohan stood, pondering this plan. All of these saiyans were quite powerful, so he definitely couldn’t take them out. He could hold his own against them for a few minutes though, which would be enough time. ‘Alright, man, I’ve got your back. Let’s go!’ With that Gohan took off, sprinting towards the row of saiyans. They all took up fighting stances, expecting to be individually attacked. Instead, Gohan leaped in mid-air before he hit them, twisting his body so that it was a vertical line. He hit all of them, knocking all four to the ground. He went down with them, and all four of the fighters got up at the same time as Gohan. They spread out around him. One came in from the front and Gohan head butted him, while another came from behind. Gohan spun and delivered a kick before the third saiyan ran up close to him and grabbed him from behind, holding him in place. The fourth than sprinted forwards, launching a punch for Gohan. Gohan ducked and the fist sailed into the head of the saiyan who was holding him. The saiyan went down. Free again, Gohan put his hands on the shoulders of the fourth saiyan and leaped over. Once he was on the other side of the saiyan he turned around, but before he could attack he was hit from the side as the first saiyan had delivered a flying kick to his skull. Gohan was knocked metres away, slamming into a pillar before falling to his knees. Another saiyan approached, ready to attack, but before he could the master from before jumped off a pillar above and landed in the middle of the group. Obviously he had managed to reach the weapon. Gohan then saw the blue orb in the man’s hand. The psychic master raised the orb, and four beams of ki shot out, one each of the saiyans, sucking up their energy, making their bodies shrivel until they were no more. Gohan stood, in awe, along with the rest of the students as they saw the orb, now filled with the souls of the four saiyans. “What the heck is that thing?” Gohan asked, approaching the master carefully. “A soul orb. It absorbs souls and the power they hold. If somebody was to break the orb, they would receive the power of all the men who were killed with it. Including those four saiyans.” “Well that’s interesting, isn’t it?” The leader of the saiyans said from the doorway to master Ja'vei's office. Gohan turned to see that the leader had finished his ‘talk’ with Ja’vei. He leaped into the air, landing next to the master with the orb, and grabbed it before anyone could object. Immediately, grinning, he squeezed the orb till it broke. “Oh, shit,” Gohan said, as he watched the super elite glow blue, more and more until he was nothing but a silhouette. There was a strange sound coming from him, mixing with his laughter, and it was getting louder and louder until all of a sudden there was a massive explosion of ki. Gohan, along with all of the students, was blown out of the temple, onto the ground below. He quickly jumped back to his feet and shot upwards, through the air, until he was above the temple. He saw the blue silhouette growing and growing, till it was bigger than the temple itself. It’s form was changing, too. Finally, the glow subsided, and Gohan saw a true monster. It was the saiyan, massive now, but he was different. He had no hair, and his skin was made of steel. All along his arms and over his skull there was black cracks, with purple and red ooze seeping out. The eyes glowed an even worse red. The creature had four arms. One was a chainsaw, one was a mini gun, and the other two were massive limbs with bulging muscles. The legs were equally huge. And the monster was focusing on Gohan. It raised its mini gun, pointing it at Gohan, and the half saiyan saw and heard the weapon begin to spin. “Crap, crap, crap!” He yelled, immediately transforming into Pre Super Saiyan. His pupils and irises vanished, his aura became golden, and his hair stood up on end. He shot to the side, strafing away from the beast’s line of fire. It began to shoot and he was able to evade its bullets as he slowly flew closer. He circled the beast, each circle smaller than the last in a spiral pattern, until finally he was right above it, and he stopped. Bullets were raining into him now, slowly penetrating his armour. “Alright, this is it!” He yelled, shooting straight downwards, through the rain of bullets. The monster angled its head straight upwards at him, its mouth open. Perfect. Gohan shot right through its mouth, breaking through the neck, and stopping inside its chest. Inside was a strange mix of human organs and machine parts. Not wasting any time, he began to charge up energy. “Nuclear shockwave!” He screamed, letting the ki he had gathered in Pre Super Saiyan fly out of him in a massive blast. His ki clashed with the skin of the machine and broke through, vaporising the beast in its entirety. And then, finally, the explosion was over and Gohan hovered where the freak had been. Finally, he collapsed, falling to the ground below. He landed right next to Ja’vei, who had ran outside after slowly regaining his powers. “Why did nobody…help…” Gohan said slowly. “These people are trained to better themselves, not to fight,” Ja’vei replied. “Fair e…enough, I guess.” Ja’vei smiled and knelt forward, placing a small sash on Gohan’s chest. “That is a Saljuk sash. With it, you may train here. You have passed your test.” “Th…thank you.” Gohan fell asleep, unable to remain conscious any longer after the massive exertion of fighting the monster.
