”Destiny! I need a diagnostic scan of every possible flight pattern from Kanassa to every other planet in the system. And I need it as soon as possible. Got me?” Zorn said as he walked quickly onto the bridge of the ship and took his seat in the captain’s chair of the ship.

Zorn quickly began typing on the main keypad of the ship, his fingers moving vigorously from button to button doing diagnostic scans of the ship, waiting for a response from Destiny, the ship’s operating system.

”Sir, that is a tall order. It is going to take quite a bit of time to develop that information. Is there anything that I can do to be more specific about what you want to know, sir?”

Zorn never stopped typing but responded quickly to the computer system.

”I want to know how long it will take to get to each planet, any special breathing devices or circumstances for each planet, fuel consumption to each planet, and inhabitants as well as population numbers of each planet. Also, locate in-space refueling stations because I doubt that we have enough fuel to make a long trip across the system to another planet unless it is close by. Understood?”

”Yes sir. I will have it for you as soon as possible, sir. Permission to access the Saiyan Empire archives and computer system to gain adequate knowledge?” Destiny asked.

”Granted! Do what you have to. Leave out no details. I will manually run the ship diagnostics and pre-flight check lists while you do so. Be prepared for launch at anytime and keep the communication lines open as I am probably expecting an urgent message sometime in the near future. I am training in six hour intervals, so six hours training in the gravitron and six hours resting. If I am not on the ship, contact me via scouter for I will be in the village saying my good byes.”

”As you wish, sir.”

Zorn typed furiously for hours, reading the screens and print outs that his computer gave him. Meanwhile, Destiny was gathering data and making up dossiers on everything that Zorn had requested. Usually Destiny took care of the pre-flight diagnostics, but Zorn needed her to focus on the routes to all the other planets and gaining intelligence that would be vital to Zorn’s forthcoming mission, whatever it may be. But he wanted to be as prepared as possible and had not time to waste. But as long as he had to wait for the go ahead for his next location, he figured he would do as much pre-work as possible while training to get stronger.

After six hours had passed, Zorn made his way to the gravitron and training center aboard the Behemoth Class Carrier to commence his training. He had fallen a bit behind in his physical condition since he had taken up his mental training with the Kanassans. Zorn would have to up his conditioning in order to get back into prime training condition. His first six hour training session would be devoted to simply training his body to get back into shape so that he could push it to the extremes in his next six hour training session and beyond.

”Some good old fashion PT for me,” Zorn said to himself as he entered the training center.

He strolled over to a large treadmill with a white towel draped around his large, muscular neck. Jumping up onto it, Zorn set the treadmill for a steadily paced run and began to jog until he was slightly covered in sweat. Then he decided that he needed to push himself as far as he could to ensure that he was back in shape. He upped the speed to be on a four minute mile pace, which for any normal being would be unheard of. But for a Saiyan, it was necessary to push a warrior to his limitations. Finally, after almost an hour to running, his legs felt like they were going to give out. Zorn backed the speed down before jumping into the air and coming back down to the treadmill, landing on his hands and continuing to walk on his hands. At a ten minute mile pace, Zorn continued to walk on the treadmill until his arms were achy and sore, every line in his arm rippling as he moved.

Soaked in sweat, Zorn dismounted the treadmill and turned it off as he grabbed his towel from the handles of the treadmill. He wiped his face off and looked at the countdown clock he had set up to let him know when his six hours were up. His still had four and a half hours left of training time to fill. He quickly grabbed a jump rope and went for another half hour, his breathing getting heavy as his lungs expanded and contracted.

After two hours of straight conditioning, Zorn needed to focus on strengthening his muscles once more. He first started with two hundred and fifty push-ups followed by two hundred and fifty body weight squats and finished up with two hundred and fifty pull-ups on the bar. His muscles burned slightly, but he still had two more hours to spare before he finally could take a break.

Not wanting to waste a single moment, Zorn moved into the weight room and went through his two hour lifting routine that he had set up when he was still training as a soldier moving up in the ranks of the Saiyan Army. It had served him well in the past and would serve him well now while he got back into tip top fighting shape. When the countdown alarm sounded, Zorn racked his weights on the last set of bicep curls and grabbed his towel.

Exiting the training center, Zorn flipped off the light and headed towards the wing of the massive ship that held the living quarters for their inhabitants. He quickly showered and then collapsed into bed, exhausted from the first six hours of training. He hadn’t realized how out of shape he really had become. But the nice thing about Saiyans was that they healed stronger than they were before. He grabbed his vitamins from the small table that stood next to his bed. He swallowed them down with a glass of cold water before finally passing out in his comfy bed.

***************************************************************

”Sir….your six hours of rest time is almost complete. You only have fifteen minutes until your next six hour training session begins,” Destiny announced in the darkness of Zorn’s room.

His eyes fluttered open as he pulled back the blankets and put his feet on the cold floor of the ship. He stretched his tight, sore body this way and that before getting to his feet and putting on fresh training clothes. As he exited his room and walked through the halls of the ship towards the training center, he voiced for a status update from Destiny.

”Thank you for the walk up call, Destiny. How about a status report?”

”Intel is coming through at a steady pace with the gathering and organizing almost seventy-five percent complete. I would project that I shall have everything ready for you and the anonymous upcoming trip by the time you are done with your next six hour training session, sir. I also took the liberty in taking care of the rest of the pre-flight diagnostics for you, sir. I was easily able to do it since I reconfigured and cleaned out my systems to increase the information flow and speed of my processor. I thought that I would be able to take a bit of the burden off your shoulders, sir, as my scanners detected some added stress and tension in your body. Hope that isn’t a problem, sir.”

Zorn thanked Destiny greatly, for it had taken a great deal of burden from his mind, leaving him to focus on his training which the most important thing was at the moment. Zorn entered the training facility aboard the ship once more. This round would be in sharpening his martial arts skills and mastering his physical attacks forms. For six grueling hours, Zorn worked on his form in throwing punches, elbows, knees, and kicks in various fighting stances. Once he had gotten them down pat, he enabled a few sparing dummies in which he practiced against, mastering his movements and deliveries. The countdown clock sounded once more, ending his training session. But this time he was not as fatigued as he was during the last one.

Quickly showering and changing his clothes, Zorn indicated to Destiny that he was going into the village to say his good-byes to the locals and have one final feast with them. Zorn made the quick walk through the small forest between where his ship rested and the Kanassan village he had called home for the past few months. The sun was almost done setting, more than halfway behind the horizon in the distance. The tall Saiyan dressed in his black robe went straight to the village square where he knew that the female Kanassans would be preparing that night’s feast already. When he entered, he was welcomed by Gio’s wife and children and given a small appetizer to hold him over until the feast. Zorn chatted candidly with Gio’s wife as she prepared part of dinner and the children played at his feet.

Shortly after dark, the bonfire in the center of the village was lit and the entire population of the village gathered round for the buffet-style meal. The elders of the village had a few words to speak, acknowledging Zorn in the crowd and congratulating him on passing the Grandmaster’s Challenge. Zorn could only assume that the elders were in contact with the masters in the Hidden Temple, which only made sense. Zorn stood up and took a bow as hundreds of voices from the Kanassans enter his mind and congratulate them.

The feast began and Zorn choked down mightily on the gracious food in front of him as he reached out with his mind to the head elder of the town. Zorn only spoke to him, blocking everything else out and ensuring that no one else would be able to hear their conversation, not even the other elders around him. Zorn explained to him that he wished to address the entire group towards the end of the night. The elder was perfectly fine with that and granted him permission to address the congregation. Zorn looked at the time on his scouter. He still had four hours left until he needed to return to his ship for more training.

Once the feast was over, they began to dance and play games in a happy manner. Zorn joined in, releasing him from his serious tone of training and preparation. Zorn danced happily with many of the single Kanassan women in the village and played several games with the children of the village. By the end of the games, Zorn was laughing so hard he could barely breathe. Finally, it was time for the mothers and children to retire to their small thatched huts for the children to lie down for the night. With only two hours left on his time, Zorn saw his opportunity to address the village before the women and children left. He would do it all telepathically.

”My Kanassan friends, may I have your attention before you retire for the evening? Thank you. I cannot fully express my thanks and gratitude for the hospitality you have shown me in the past few months. It takes great character and willingness to take in a complete stranger and treat him as your own. And that is exactly what your kind race has done for me. You are all full of great character and I commend you greatly for accepting someone that your race has told you to hate and fear. Instead, you faced it and took your own history with a grain of salt, making a tough decision for yourself. I thank you all.

To the elders who gave your approval of my training in the great mental skills of your race to my good friend Gio who willingly put his life on the line to take me to the Kanassan Capital to the rest of you in the village who prepared food and made me feel welcome, I bow to you in thanks and gratitude and as a great race of humanitarians. But I must take my leave from you soon and continue my journey in life. I shall face many great trials and tribulations in my time to come, but I know that I shall be stronger for them after spending time with your great race. So once more, thank you from the bottom of my Saiyan heart.”

Zorn bowed his head low and for some time to the entire village before a slow clap started and turned into a full ovation and cheers from the Kanassans. Zorn raised up and smiled with a short wave before walking through the crowd. The women and children all filed by Zorn and wished him luck in his future endeavors, knowing about as much about what lied in front of the Saiyan and his future as he did himself. But Zorn was thankful for their well wishes.

Once the women and children had left the village square, Zorn gathered around the bonfire in the center with the other Kanassan men. The elders passed around a large jug of their homemade liquor, which Zorn took just a small swig of knowing he would need to continue training soon. They all chatted, asking Zorn where his journey would lead him. Zorn explained his predicament to them all in the remaining time he had. Many of the Kanassan gave him heart-felt sympathy and wished him good luck. Zorn thanked them and told them he hoped to see them again one day, also instructing them to reach him in the astral realm if they ever need assistance with anything.

Taking leave into the darkness, Zorn returned to the ship and headed directly to the training center without saying a word to Destiny. He took to the speed bag first and then to the heavy bag, spending hours wailing away and taking out his frustration of waiting and not knowing out on it. Using his special technique, Deca Form, Zorn split himself into two beings and sparred one on one with Norz, using every physical attack he could possibly think of during his two hour session with his split self. Finally, the six hours was over and the alarm sounded.

After a quick shower, Zorn got dressed in a pair of loose shorts and settled into bed for another six hours of rest. He was not overly exhausted, but felt like just simply relaxing for a bit. He lay in bed with only a small lamp on in the corner of the room. He lie there staring at the ceiling with his hands folded behind his head, breathing steadily as he his muscular chest and abs heaved up and down slowly. Thousands of thoughts ran through his head concerning the future, but all of his worrying was for nothing, for he could not control what would happen and there was no way for him to stop what was coming for him.

The beautiful face of Hoxi popped into his mind and he smiled at the thought of her beautiful face. But then something took over his mind and he saw nasty things of her. Awful things that made him cringe and wince, covering his eyes with his hands and rubbing them tirelessly. Softly, Destiny’s voice came over the intercom.

”Sir, I hate to disturb your rest, but I wanted you to know that the data you requested is complete and ready to be gone over at your earliest convenience. Is there anything that would like me to do now, sir?” her soft, electronic voice said soothingly.

Zorn rolled over in bed and threw the covers back, knowing sleep would not come to him at this time with the disturbing thoughts and images. ”I will be to the bridge in a moment, as soon as I get dressed,” Zorn announced to Destiny.

”Very good, sir. I shall have the files loaded and waiting for your viewing when you arrive.”

Zorn quickly threw on a shirt and some loose sweat pants and walked a bit groggily towards the bridge of the ship. As the sliding doors to the bridge opened, Destiny greeted him and Zorn took a seat in the captain’s chair. He threw his large feet up on the main console and leaned back as far as he could in the chair, instructing Destiny to begin the intel session.

Zorn watched carefully, going through each planet meticulously. They calculated that they would need to visit an outer space refueling station as the Kanassans did not have the technology there in the village to refuel his ship and going to the unfriendly Kanassan capital again, and this time with a ship, would not be a good idea. They located several of them in different directions, indicating that they would have enough fuel to reach them. Otherwise ordering out a refueling ship would be rather expensive and would raise a high profile, which Zorn wished to avoid.

As they continued to study, Destiny suddenly broke off her intel report in mid sentence. Zorn sat forward, thinking that she may have gotten overloaded, frozen, and was in need of a reboot. But that wasn’t the case. No, that was not the case at all.

”Sir, incoming transmission from an unknown ship in an unknown location. Do you wish me to open the frequency?” Destiny asked.

”Yes! Immediately!” Zorn commanded with a frantic tone.

On the large overhead screen, a snow covered screen appeared which then cleared to the image of a being sitting back in a shadow. Before speaking, the shadowy figure leaned forward showing his face. It was the iron clad face of another Saiyan. He had tall, spiky black hair with dark, steely eyes and a muscular jaw. His upper body, or what Zorn could see of it, resembled that of the Saiyan Army, but they were lower class garb. He was definitely a battle tested Saiyan, with a slight scar just on the corner of his right eye. Zorn furrowed his brows at the screen in a serious tone.

”Can I help you, my fellow Saiyan?” Zorn asked lowly.

”Hello, Zorn. It has been sometime since we last met. You and your upper class Saiyan pride probably do not remember me, but in due time you shall. My name is Damon, a Third Class warrior of the Saiyan Army. We once sparred together in a training exercise in which you were showing off for the drill instructors by beating on new recruits. Well now, my vivacious friend, the time for redemption has come.” the Saiyan on the screen said.

A cold sweat came over Zorn, as he knew this was the time when his future endeavors would be laid out before him. Zorn shifted to the edge of his seat and hung on every single word that came out of the Saiyan’s mouth.

”From that day, it has been my life’s mission to figure out a way to get you back for the humiliation you caused me that day. But today, I have figured it out. I took the one thing that means more to you than anything else, or so I would assume. I took the liberty of abducting your lovely little Hoxi!”

The camera panned out and standing the background with two other Saiyan warriors was Hoxi, tied up and gagged. She fussed a bit, but the two guards held her still. The camera focused back on Damon. Zorn’s fist curled into tight fists as a large vein on his head popped out, clearly visible.

”You son of….what do you want from me?” Zorn asked through clenched teeth.

”Calm yourself, Zorn. We are getting to that. In trade for lovely Hoxi, you will need to present yourself to me on the planet Vahalla and surrender to my men. At that point, I shall publicly humiliate you and then take your life. Where upon your darling Hoxi will be allowed to go free. It is that simple, Zorn. You either come or she dies in front of your eyes here and now. So what do you say?”

Zorn’s blood was boiling in his veins at this point as he was now standing up looking into the screen.

”I will be there you bastard! If you harm one hair on her head, though, I can promise that you will die with your last breaths coming as I squeeze them out of your neck.”

”That kind of pride and anger is what gets you into trouble, Zorn. My last stipulation is that if you are not here in seven days, seven days Zorn, I shall beat her and rape her until she begs me to put her out of her misery. So don’t be late, for her sake. I look forward to our meeting and your demise,” Damon said with a slight chuckle and the screen went blank.

Zorn yelled at the top of his lungs, walked to a nearby steel wall and punched it as hard as he could, leaving a large dent in the wall. He was so furious that the irises of his eyes began to disappear and a slight red aura enveloped him. He was beginning to transform into his Giji state accidentally under the immense amount of anger and anguish he was under.

”Destiny! Set course for Vahalla! Now!” Zorn screamed.

He paced back and forth as Destiny prepped the ship and got the course set. He was so angry that his energy poured off of him. Zorn was not thinking clearly at the moment, simply acting in rage. But who could possibly blame him. The love of his life had been kidnapped by a fellow Saiyan that Zorn had made look bad in a training session. How pathetic was this being that he would do this? He was ruthless and heartless. And he would pay for his actions with little mercy coming from Zorn.

”Lift off in ten minutes, sir.” Destiny announced softly.

”Good!”
