Jared’s feet paced quickly as he moved through the forest. It was unlike him to move in a hurry as he had been doing. It was a place he’d never been to before and yet his urge to explore was next to non-existent.

Jared, don’t you think you’re moving a bit hastily?

“I am. But I can’t help it! I feel something nearby! I wanna see it.”

Jared took a high leap into the trees and began to swing across like a chimpanzee. Freed was becoming concerned about what it was that Jared could have sensed that could be causing him to be hasty. Picking up his own pace the spirit followed behind. Off in the distance was the telepath, watching Jared and Freed.

I can feel something pulling me in this direction. I wish I knew what it was. Hard to believe Freed can’t sense it.

Jared was suddenly forced to stop when something appeared to him on an upcoming branch. Jared landed on the branch across from it in a crouch. Freed was shocked to see Jared stop in front of the entity and came up to his side to investigate.

“You’re…!” Jared said.

Standing before him was the telepath from last night.

Jared, be careful!

Jared stood fearless of his acquaintance. The telepath smiled at Jared. His eyes were glowing at the same time.

Young Jared, the one who searches for the stone of Poseidon’s Power. If it is his power you seek, then my master is the one you must meet.

“Your master?

The telepath gave a nod. Jared had a hand pressed against his chest while balled into a fist.

“Then take me!”

Hidden Temple! The Three Trials of Saljuk!

With the telepath leading, Jared made his way through the forest at steady pace once more. Jared was eager to meet this figure’s master. Since coming to the planet, he could sense a presence calling out to him. It was imperative that he answer back. But Freed was weary.

Jared is it safe to trust this person? He trapped my spirit!

Jared crossed the trees, focusing on his lead. But he was able to answer back to Freed.

“He also released it when I completed his challenge. This is a test. I’m sure he’s telling the truth. If the soul of Poseidon is really calling out to me, I must answer it and find the stone.”

I understand. Continue on.

As much as Freed wanted to take caution, he understood there would be many risks involved for the full recovery of his memory. Jared could not afford to turn back at any point of the journey. But as far as Poseidon was concerned was concerned, Freed was still unclear on something.

This Poseidon-! Who is he?

Jared shifted his eyes to Freed while continuing to make his way along.

“On earth, he’s considered in Greek mythology to be god of the sea. With just a whim he commands all of sea life and the very water itself. This is not a power to laugh at. To be honest I considered all of this to be simply folklore. However, after all I’ve been through, I highly believe that a being like that exists.”

So in short, this god may have chosen you.

Jared nodded. He then noticed that the Telepath had stopped. Jared stopped beside him and peered ahead. Before them lied a large clearing. That’s when Jared saw a large temple. His eyes boggled at the sight of its infrastructure. Large stone rocks constructed this giant wonder of the universe. If he was lucky, there was much to be discovered inside as well. Jared soon felt a growing excitement. He wanted to enter the temple. The telepath was the first to descend toward the ground. Jared jumped from the branch and descended as well. He landed on the ground, tumbling forward into a crouching stance. The telepath edged forward, turning to Jared as he pointed to the entrance.

Inside we will go. But before that you must know, three more trials are to be complete. Afterwards, my master will agree to meet.

“Trials? More tests?”

’So there is more to this. That means last night was just the start.’ Freed thought.

Jared nodded and then followed the telepath inside. The temple was as expected, filled with exquisite designs and artwork. Jared could also see writings on the wall that were illegible to him. They were most likely written in a language he didn’t know. But the telepath ignored all that and continued to lead him till a room door laid before them.

Here your first trial awaits: the Trial of Patience. Enter and begin.

Jared nodded and watched as the stone door started to rise. There was a focused expression on Jared’s face. He was ready. When the door opened entirely, he and Freed entered through.

Kasume loved temples. There was a mystic feel to them that sent pleasant sensations through her body. This temple within the midst of the forest of illusion was no different. Kento knew the story of course. This temple was for the order of Saljuk, a group of gifted mystics and telepaths. They gifted others with the art of mental strength and abilities. Everything she could get her hands on at this point, Kasume would. The demon girl had met with a lord of unfathomable power. It was by luck that others had it in for him or she just might have met her doom. The battle was proof that certain desires had not been phased out.

It was day two of her visit to the temple. Though not physically with her, Kento remained in contact with her through their mental link. She had spent the previous day meditating at the altar. Enlightenment had not reached her yet. With as many temples as she had been to, she should have become an emissary for the light. But such a thing had not happened yet. Her actions were still driven by revenge. She thirsted heavily for the day that administered it to the one that dared to cast a spell of weakness upon her; Morgana. But the Saljuk missionaries refused to let her have power that she sought in her coming to this place without purging her thoughts. So she sat her patiently, meditating as part of her Trial of Patience. It was desired that they see how much she was willing to sacrifice.

If only they knew she had sacrificed much already. Her ways of being had drastically changed from what they once were. She had been kissed by an angel and touched by his light. At the same time, she had been caressed by temptation many times; once in the form of Gosai, the second in the form of the Inferno Rod holder Diive, and the third by the blood of a demon lord who went without a name to her knowledge. But in this world, this life or the next, there would be sacrifice. That would never change as much as any man or woman could wish it. With her cross to bear, the demon girl continued to purge, meditating in front of the alter her. Not only that, she was focusing. It was imperative that she line up her priorities. The hours of time danced around her as her power found its happy center. She was slowly becoming content with the time spent before her great battle to come.

Suddenly she could sense someone's presence enter the chamber. One of the Kanassans no doubt had come into the room. The man gave a respectful bow.

"Mistress Kasume." He spoke.

Kasume's radiating power slowly disappeared from view. She opened her eyes as her hair settled. However she did not turn to the man speaking to her. The Kanassan knew her attention was drawn.

"Mistress, the master is content. Your many hours of meditation allow you to complete this trial."

Kasume stood up on her feet, rubbing her tongue against her upper lip. She turned to the Kanassan and bowed once. She had her hands over each other and placed just below the center of her waist. She started toward the door, eyes never shifting to her host. She got two steps past him and stopped.

"I trust the next trial will be equally as tasteful for me?" she spoke.

"Yes mistress."

She nodded once and continued on. Kasume was generally of respectful tone within celestial sanctuaries such as this temple. The next one was the test of wisdom. As she walked on, the man following her spoke again.

"For this next trial, mistress, you shall be joined by another."

Her eyes shifted to the right as the man walked up to her right side.

"Oh?"

"Yes, he should be completing his trial very shortly. Please wait here."

They stopped at a door. Did she hear this man refer to the other as 'he'? So her partner in the next trial was of male gender. She almost smiled at the prospect of being in a man's company again. She should probably wait to see who it would be before letting her urges and imagination run away with her. Alright, male prospect, come this way and reveal yourself to the demon girl!

Jared focused. He focused hard on the water before him. Freed observing waited for the water to move. He’d not seen the boy this focused in some time. He had a goal and was aiming to achieve it.

Great Poseidon, please find me worthy of your power. Jared thought.

Jared’s eyes were on the prize. He’d not found the stone yet, but he’d make sure he was ready to accept it when he did. His mind drifted to the dream he had.

Quote:

Jared navigated through a discerning darkness.  He could hear a voice echoing his name.  Upon taking several steps forward, the boy came to a small body of water.  Curious, Jared edged toward it and looked at the surface.  He could see his reflection at first.  Suddenly the boy jerked back.  The reflection changed from his own to that of a bearded man with glowing blue eyes.

“What the!?”

Jared! I’ve been waiting for you!

“AGH!” Jared shouted.

Suddenly the water blasted up and towered above him as he heard a majestic roar behind it as well.  Jared started to turn and run when the water splashed down on him.  Jared tried to pull away but the current was too strong.  He screamed for his very life just before being submerged beneath the surface of the body of water.  Fearing he might drown, he writhed around frantically trying to get above the surface.  But that’s when he discovered it.  He was breathing!  By gosh he was breathing under water.

“What…?  What is this!?”

Jared Miruzuki, wandering free spirit of the living, I have called you!

Jared opened his eyes to see himself floating in a void of water.  At that moment a deity appeared before him that made his heart nearly stop.  The bearded man that appeared in place of Jared’s reflection was now before him.  Jared recognized him.

“You…you’re…”  His voice was strained with disbelief, “…Poseidon…”

I don’t get it! I thought he was just a myth! Why is he here? What does he want with me!?

My power awaits you!  The Poseidon stone …

“Poseidon…Stone?”

The test that lies before you will determine your right to claim it!  But your heart will desire it now that I have appeared to you.  Seek it out and embrace it, if you can!

The deity’s appearance vanished from sight.

“Wait! How do I find this stone!?”

A sign will show the way!

Immediately following the deity’s voice, Jared found himself thrown into a whirlpool of water.  He spun around and around unable to control himself in the current.

The focus intensified after running through the dream again. Poseidon’s power was sure to be a great asset to him. But how would he get through the tests to come? Jared was so focused on the prize that the actual road to it all didn’t matter to him. He felt a hand on his shoulder at that moment. The telepath had come to him.

Well done getting through it. I see your focus. You are ready for the next trial. The one of wisdom.

Jared turned and nodded. They exited the room. Energy was radiating off of Jared. Freed stared at the boy.

You’re determined to get through it. I can this. Freed stated.

The telepath grinned to Freed.

Yes, you are lucky to have such a devoted comrade. Follow along.

Jared and Freed were led by the telepath. As they were walking, the telepath cracked another grin.

It appears we will be joined by another.

Jared and Freed sensed it suddenly as well. There was another person there. They were just up ahead as well. Becoming a bit nervous, Jared waited to see who it would be when they got close enough. The telepath was the first to greet the new person.

We’re glad to have you join us, mistress

Jared turned at the mention of the word mistress. His face suddenly turned blue as he saw the person he was referring to. Standing in her splendor was a female he almost instantly recognized. His mind flashed back to a meeting with her in the astral plain.

“You’re…! You’re…that demon lady!”

He’d come face to face with Kasume in the flesh!

Kasume gawked in disbelief when her plus one showed up at the door next to her. Surprise! The person standing before her was none other than the young blonde from her astral spars. He addressed her as the demon lady.

“You’re…you’re the demon lady!” she heard him shout.

After her initial surprise, she let out a hysteric cackle with the back of her left hand concealing her mouth. This blonde was the subject of much entertainment for her in the past. Fate had quite the sense of humor to place him in her presence, and for a trial no less. The fun she intended to have with this. Why, the mind was already racing with ways she could make his endeavor even more memorable. There was a young figure with the boy, also Kanassan from what she could tell.

You know each other?

She could hear his thoughts. He was speaking to them via telepathy. This young telepath must have brought the boy here.

“Know him? Hardly, but we have tangoed before. Isn’t that right, boy?”

She glanced at him menacingly with a smile on her face. She could see he had turned blue from laying eyes on her. Should she make things even more difficult for him? It certainly was tempting enough. After all she had revealed his tightie-whities in their last encounter with her time freeze aiding the cause. But her company was quick to remind her of the task at hand.

“Mistress, please remember the trial you stand to face.”

Kasume’s eyes glanced to the Kanassan beside her. Her devilish expression faded and she regained proper demeanor. But she quickly laid eyes upon the boy again. Now her mind began to query upon why the boy might be present here to begin with. The fact that they were taking the trial together also meant there was a strong possibility they would have to see each other through it. Again she would sacrifice her urges for the sake of a greater cause.

Eyes on me, boy! Gaze upon the doings of one who practices magic. she thought.

“Mistress and young man, your test of wisdom lies beyond the door. Prepare your minds for it and may you both see it through successfully.”

FWOOM! The door shifted open letting a sharp breeze of air through. Kasume turned to the glaring light that appeared at the door opening. She slowly made her way in, slightly turning her head to the boy.

“Hope you’re ready little boy.”

In she entered. The moment she passed through the door, the scenery changed. Her body felt lighter. She had been submerged within a watery ruin upon entering that door. What a beauty! The surrounding water placed a very subterranean feel upon everything. But she failed to see where the wisdom test came into play in a place like this. Perhaps its intentions were submerged as well. Would the boy follow her or stay put?

The woman certainly didn’t take long to recognize him as her cackle tickled his ears. Freed remembered her as well, flashing back to the encounter. The fear in his eyes was proof of this.

This isn’t good! Her powers are the ones that can stop time itself!

Jared nodded. What reason could she have for being here at the temple? The telepath took a look at her and then to Jared.

You know each other?

“Know him? Hardly, but we have tangoed before. Isn’t that right, boy?”

She glanced at him menacingly with a smile on her face. Jared edged back a step, sweat appearing on his face. Yet at the same time, his face seemed to show hints of red as well. His infatuation was overpowering his fear of her magic.

“I’m frightened and elated at the same time!” He declared.

You can’t be serious! Freed spoke.

Sure enough, his eyes glanced upon her hungrily. Demon Witch or not, the woman was attractive! But before he could even attempt to make a move on her, the Kanassan pair stood between them, one to remind the woman of the task at hand and the telepath to do the same for Jared.

Young one, please remember the reason you are here. The trial.

Immediately upon this intervention, Jared stood with his head hung in depression.

“Tis fate’s decision to always dangle the chalice of divine pleasure just out of thy hands reach! Always hungry but never allowed to feast! Thirsty but never allowed to drink! Hot but never allowed to bask in the shade! Always wanting but never satisfied! Oh the depression!” he recited while down on one knee and his hands lifted to the sky.

Freed was looking away with his eyes closed and eye brows twitching. The telepath was baffled by Jared’s actions. The other simply continued on with business as usual.

“Mistress and young man, your test of wisdom lies beyond the door. Prepare your minds for it and may you both see it through successfully.”

Jared returned to his feet. The woman gazed upon him with focus. He gazed back also focused. Suddenly the door opened slowly and a sharp breeze pushed against them. Freed was barely able to fathom what he was witnessing.

Through this door… Freed.

The demon girl was first to enter the door. Knowing that success was the only option, Jared followed after and soon felt a change in his body weight and saw the change in the atmosphere as the door closed. His clothing and hair wafted up and down and he found himself in a land of ruin submerged in water. He could see a glare of the sun against the surface of the water when he looked up. But wait! They were under water! Jared clutched his neck in fear as a rush of bubbles rushed up from his throat. He started to flail his legs up and down.

“THE FIELD IS UNDERWATER!!! WHERE IS MY OXYGEN TANK!?!?! AHAHAHAHAAA!!!” He shrieked in a panic.

Jared, you just spoke. Clearly you are able to breathe in this field.

Jared looked at Freed and was able to see he was right. He could breathe.

“Ooh! So I can! Wah wah whaaaaoooooo!!!” he shouted as he suddenly realized he was hovering above ground without support.

He felt flat on his face while Freed looked away and facepalmed. He quickly shifted focus and levitated above Jared’s head to see the surroundings. It was like a Roman or a Greek city that had been submerged under water.

Some sort of city submerged beneath the sea somehow.

Jared had returned to his feet and was walking around, not paying attention the demon girl for the time being.

“It’s like Atlantis.”

Jared began to swim up. This place certainly warranted much investigation.

It’s like in my dream! I was submerged in water and had surroundings similar to this when Poseidon spoke to me. Could the stone be here?

Suddenly the Telepath appeared before them again in his astral form. His goal was to communicate to both Jared and Kasume.

This sunken city is your test my friends. It is submerged in water. However inscriptions you’ll find over in the largest building tell how to resurface this great kingdom. Decipher them and bring this city back above the sea.

Jared and Freed were shocked.

Bring an entire city back above the surface of the water?! Freed asked.

“Wow! What a challenge! I’ll take it on!”

Jared…?

The boy lowered himself back to the ground.

“No time to waste words! Let’s rise a city!”

Jared took off past Kasume and waved back to her.

“Come on, beautiful! We got a mission to accomplish!”

Wait for me ruins! I’ll bring you above the surface soon! Jared thought as he went back to being focused.

The largest building was easy to spot. It certainly didn’t take long for him to get there either. What a building it was. It easily towered above the rest. It wasn’t tall enough to reach the surface of the water though. Jared stopped at the entrance to the building. The stairs to reach it were just above half a mile. With enthusiasm he climbed the stairs and quickly reached the opening. Even under water, the boy’s speed was decent enough to make it easy to get there. He awaited the arrival of the demon girl before turning to her with a smile.

“I wonder if we’ll be able to read the inscriptions.”

He shrugged after that.

“We’ll do our best regardless. As scary as you seem to be, I can bet my zeni you can do some pretty inspiring things, beautiful!”

Jared turned and entered the building with Freed at his side.

The girl was outright impressed. She was seeing a city built much like one she had seen 300 years ago. The water they were submerged in only added to the taste of the surroundings. It seemed she could breathe here as well. This was a nice surprise. She didn't want to spend most of the time surfacing for air. As she glanced to the boy, it was quite evident that he had not realized it yet, for he was flailing about and she could hear him screaming in a panic.

“THE FIELD IS UNDERWATER!!! WHERE IS MY OXYGEN TANK!?!?! AHAHAHAHAAA!!!”

Seriously? Is he going to be that stupid the entire time? she thought.

She watched him face plant shortly thereafter and went to turn away almost a second after. He'd be no help to her if he was going to carry on like that. She proceeded to walk, only to be stopped by the telepath that was accompanying the boy when she first saw him.

This sunken city is your test my friends. It is submerged in water. However inscriptions you’ll find over in the largest building tell how to resurface this great kingdom. Decipher them and bring this city back above the sea.

Now we were talking. Deciphering inscriptions shouldn't be too hard. A magic spell would most likely be the answer to the code, one that would raise the city above the sea once more. The man was kind enough to tell her where they were located as well. The tallest building within the city was only a short distance away. She could spot it with her own two eyes. Easy doings for the demon girl without a doubt. She could hear the boy shouting with enthusiasm.

“Wow! What a challenge! I’ll take it on!”

If nothing else he had spunk.

“No time to waste words! Let’s rise a city!”

She then noticed him come running in her direction. He ran right past her, looked back and waved to her.

“Come on, beautiful! We got a mission to accomplish!”

That boy was about to find himself no longer in need of a haircut addressing her that way. She took her time following after him, or so it appeared. He failed to notice her appearance going very shadowy as he took off for the building on his own. As a traveling shadow she moved along the floor at increased speeds toward the building. It was by the stairs she brought herself back up into solid form, appearing so just as the boy took off for the entrance to the building. In a brisk sprint, she followed after him soon reaching the top along side him. He turned to her with a smile just before going in.

“I wonder if we’ll be able to read the inscriptions.”

He shrugged after that.

“We’ll do our best regardless. As scary as you seem to be, I can bet my zeni you can do some pretty inspiring things, beautiful!”

"Would you like me to demonstrate?" she replied.

He seemed unconcerned. Instead of replying he merely entered the building allowing her to follow along. It was too dark in here. She couldn't see a thing. Magic time! Her hands began to glow.

"Victis Tugaris!"

Her hands projected forth and launched forth magic energy. First there came a bright flash. After the flash, the darkened inside of the building was now lit with twinkling sparks of glowing energy all over. They looked like stars in the sky. Now she could properly search around for what she was looking for. The demon girl walked forward. Upon coming past an open room she stopped. Turning to the left where the open door was she entered and soon stumbled upon a stone tablet. The room was dimmed thanks to the twinkle lights she put up outside. Using a glowing hand she hovered it over the stone tablet and saw markings upon it. These things clearly meant something. The tablet was ripe for the deciphering. There was just one problem.

“Grr! I can’t read any of this!”

The markings were completely illegible to her. With this fact apparent, the demon girl cursed herself silently and growled. She was certain Kento could read the markings if he were here. She decided to stroll out of the room. Upon doing so she found the boy there and decided to point inside the room.

“I found a tablet with markings etched onto it. But I can’t read any of it. There has to be something around here that would help decipher the codes.”

If it were not for the fact they were here on an important task, Jared could maybe focus on getting in some chitchat with the demon girl. His mind was still racing with what happened during their last encounter.

Quote:

Jared stood on his guard as Kasume took her distance. Freed was staring suspiciously as well. He was getting ready to attack again when he noticed her levitating above the ground. Was she about to attack? Jared found himself a bit on edge when she looked at him with a questioning glance.

“Tell me something, little boy. Do you believe in magic?”

A devious grin was starting to form with her lips. She chuckled beneath her breath again. Jared was confused as he tilted his head.

"Magic? Like hocus pocus magic?"

“I hope you do.”

Freed looked to Jared.

She's about to do something. I don't like this.

She brought a hand up to the pendant hanging from around her neck and her eyes closed again. Soon he could hear sounds of humming coming from her. Jared had no idea what to make of this at all, nor did Freed. He noticed her pendant glowing and figured now would be the time to attack. But before he could, she opened her glowing eyes and unleashed some kind of energy.

Jared look out!! Freed shouted.

Jared let out a yell of fear as the energy traveled his way. Then suddenly all went white for a moment. He blinked twice. Then looked around. All seemed as it was before. Kasume was in her levitated position staring at him. Freed was getting his senses as well. When he looked at Jared, he was surprised.

Jared! Look, your pants!

Jared's ears perked up and he looked down. His pants had fallen down to his knees.

"What the hell!?"

Freed was still shocked.

There's blood on your face!

Sure enough, Jared felt something and reached over to his face. He rubbed his face and found something red on his hand. But as he examined and smelled it his eyes widened.

"That's not blood! That's....that's...ooooh boy!"

He looked down at his pants.

"Pants down! Lipstick on my face...!" He pointed at Kasume.

"Did you?!" Then he pointed at himself, "Did we!?"

Fireworks went off in his head as he thought off all the possibilities.

"It was only a second! I barely had time to blink! How...when...! AAAGHH!! I'M SO CONFUSED! SHE'S A ROADRUNNER! FASTEST CHICK ALIVE!"

He started to jump up and down in place looking panicked. Freed tried to calm him down.

Jared, get a hold of yourself!

Jared looked to Freed. "Idiot! How do you expect me to get a hold of myself!? She did the nasty with me in a millisecond! AGH! This is like something out of a college keg party only I don't get to wake up in bed next to the hot chick!"

Freed watched as Jared had himself a fit on the battlefield. He put a palm to his face.

What an idiot! At least pull your pants up!

Jared went to move toward Kasume. "You have to tell me how ya did that...OOF!" he tripped and fell flat on his face. Freed had his arms folded, eyes closed and brows twitching.

Jared, for god's sake, get on your feet and pull your pants up! This is still a fight!

Jared lifted his head. "Oh...right..."

Jumping to his feet in a second, he pulled his pants up and fastened his belt back on. He shook his head and coughed into one hand, trying to regain his composure.

"Nice trick, pretty girl! Now how's about we set up a date and do this the proper way? So I can see how it happened."

Finally she couldn't hold it in anymore. She let out a laugh and turned away for a moment. Then she looked back to the kid flipping her hair back.

"You are a funny kid. I don't think anyone's made me laugh in a few centuries. Unfortunately, I like my men a little more full grown. Come back in a few years."

So she was a couple centuries old. She looked like she was college age. What high school sophomore didn’t wish he could get in good with a college girl? He had the strongest urge to rehearse ways of trying to ask her out again. Instead he found himself annoyed with how dark it was in here. Fortunately the magical girl was prepared. He watched as she weaved a beautiful spell around his heart and hormones!

"Victis Tugaris!"

Her hands projected forth and launched forth magic energy. First there came a bright flash. After the flash, the darkened inside of the building was now lit with twinkling sparks of glowing energy all over. They looked like stars in the sky. It was the simplest spell chant he’d ever heard but it produced a wonderful starlight show.

Amazing! She possesses a great mastery of magics! Freed explained.

Jared had beating hearts for eyes as he stared at the girl walking away.

“I know! Isn’t it great?”

Focus, Jared!

Jared glared at Freed with an annoyed expression. He turned after that only to see the demon girl had vanished. He started walking forward wondering how he lost sight of her so quickly. Luckily he saw her stepping out of a room as he was walking up.

“I found a tablet with markings etched onto it. But I can’t read any of it. There has to be something around here that would help decipher the codes.”

“Codes? In that room? Let me take a look!”

Jared and Freed entered the room. It was hard to see so Jared used ki to glow his palm bright enough to see inside the room. Freed spotted the tablet first and looked at it. Jared came up to the tablet and sure enough saw the markings on it.

“Eesh! This looks like hieroglyphics to me!” Jared said.

Freed was looking at the tablet hard and then he nearly gasped as his eyes flashed suddenly. Jared caught sight of it and was confused.

“Freed?”

Those markings! I can decipher them!

Jared looked to Freed in disbelief.

“What? Really!?”

Freed put a palm to the stone tablet and sure enough it gave off a glow in response. Jared and Freed were surprised to see the tablet respond to him. Soon the markings began to change form from their original markings to the very English that Jared was able to speak.

“Freed! The markings are changing. I can read them now! Hey there girl! Get in here! We can read these things now.” He called.

Jared was excited. Sitting on the stone tablet now was a paragraph that seemed to be the words needed to raise the city out of the water.

“These words look like some sort of magic spell. I can’t perform magic. But you can! I bet if you say this words, the city will rise out of the water!”

If that’s the case… Freed started.

“It’s all you, girl! Inspire me with your magic!” Jared said.

He stepped back. This was her moment! Jared could hardly wait to see what kind of magic the girl would perform to bring an entire city above the sea.

“I found a tablet with markings etched onto it. But I can’t read any of it. There has to be something around here that would help decipher the codes.”

“Codes? In that room? Let me take a look!” the boy immediately replied.

Kasume gave a skeptical glance. What good would he do by looking at them. So far he'd proven to be nothing more than a comic relief fit only for her imagination. She decided to wait for him outside anyway just for the sake of knowing the obvious. If she couldn't decipher them, the boy had zero chance of doing it. She became annoyed when a few moments went by and he hadn't come back out. What the hell was he doing in there? She was about ready to drag him out of there when suddenly he heard him shouting with excitement.

“Freed! The markings are changing. I can read them now! Hey there girl! Get in here! We can read these things now.” He called.

No way! He couldn't have! Kasume dashed in quickly to see for herself. What she saw was the boy himself clearly excited. Sitting on the stone tablet now was a paragraph that seemed to be the words needed to raise the city out of the water. The bastard actually deciphered the code. But how!? She glared at him but he had nothing but happiness to show her.

“These words look like some sort of magic spell. I can’t perform magic. But you can! I bet if you say these words, the city will rise out of the water!”

Kasume looked at the tablet herself. Sure enough it came off as a magic chant to her. The boy aimed a thumbs-up at her.

“It’s all you, girl! Inspire me with your magic!” Jared said.

He stepped back. This was her moment! She scoffed at him. She walked closer to the tablet and looked at the words. She would find out how he did it. Her palms started to glow as she focused on the tablet. Her eyes closed and she deeply breathed in and out once. Eyes open once more she began to read off the tablet.

"Sunken kingdom, sunken city, cast below the ocean; such a pity! Gazing upon this sunken tablet, here in lies the magic; the very key to bring you back above, the words to bring you into the reach of the sun you love! Now I call you, now I plea; this city please hear me..."

The ground was shaking as she chanted. The power she was calling was being granted. At this very moment the city might just be rising as she wanted. But she could keep on chanting and keep on hoping.

"...shake and rattle and roar; now's the time! now's the score! Sunken city, sunken kingdom with these words you are now allowed, to return above the surface. Hear my magic and return to level ground!"

The energy she unleashed from the tablet, from her own body and from the city itself was unbelievable. Rushing streams of magic energy spun around her and the boy. The ground was rumbling and shaking. She could barely stay in one spot. In some time, the water levels became visibly lower, the city was rising. Kasume exited the room and headed for the entrance from which they came, soon she could see the light of day. By the time she reached the entrance, all the water had drained down to her legs. She could peer out and see the sun glaring over the city. The water itself was sinking. It was a sight to behold.

"Heh, look at that! The city is now above water!"

Suddenly the telepath appeared before them again.

Yes it is! Amazing work the two of you! You have completed the task with astounding teamwork. I’ll return you both to the temple now!

With a blinding flash of light energy, the Kanassan returned the two back to the temple. Standing before them now were the temple’s master when they returned.

“Kasume and Jared, you have accomplished an amazing feat. Nobody has ever been able to surface the sunken city of Ayern.”

Jared seemed to have a smirk upon his face. He said nothing however. The master of the temple bowed once.

“I have no need to further test you both! I have seen enough. Take this, it is proof that you have passed our trials. Consider yourselves members of the Saljuk order.”

With his hands out to both Kasume and Jared, he held a sash for both of them to take. The demon girl wasted no time claiming hers. She tied hers around the waist line. Jared seemed to place his around the waist as well as if though mimicking her.

“With it, you’ll soon be on your way to mental mastery! Take what you have learned here in great stride.”

Jared seemed to be quick to answer back.

“Awesome! Thanks a lot! I’ll wear this thing with pride!”

Kasume simply bowed. The master then proceeded to walk away from them. Once they were alone, the boy stared at her with endearing eyes.

“Well I was right! I knew you could do it! You are my dream girl!”

He nudged her. Quickly she grew annoyed with him and pressed him against the wall by the collar.

“Dream on! I told you, tyke, I like my men a little older! But there is something you can do for me. Tell me how you deciphered that tablet! There’s no way you could have done that on your own!”

Jared seemed to chuckle. He pulled free of her grip and pulled himself off the wall.

“You’re right, girl. I didn’t. I had a little divine enlightenment while looking at it. I’ll leave it at that. Bye for now. Next time I’m getting that date!”

He winked and vanished without a trace. This was becoming a serious issue with her. Strange men and boys kept showing up and vanishing out of her life without warning. She sat there annoyed with her arms folded at first. But as she thought of it, she suddenly realized that the boy would return sometime again. Then…oh then! She smirked evilly, content upon the thought that she’d see him again. As she walked off she began contemplating on when that might be. Anything else would not be satisfying.
