Objective achieved! Jared had found and taken in the power of the Poseidon Stone. But what it meant for him had yet to be discovered. The boy’s body was nearly shut down by the merger of Poseidon’s power with his own soul. This was far different than when Jared and Freed performed Spiritken. Jared felt filled with the embodiment of a god. His body was still adjusting to it all. Trickles of dark blue electricity could be seen traveling around his form, giving off the occasional crackling noise. Freed tried to fathom it all as the boy continued to sleep. How much longer must he sleep like this? he asked. Ja’rel, capable of communicating and seeing Freed, replied, “It’s difficult to say. While he is extraordinary, he is still just a young one. He was brought to his limits and thrown clean past them with what happened to him.” Freed gave a nod. “So tell me more about you. Why does such a veteran spirit travel with a boy like Jared?” Freed pictured it all as it happened while he brought forth the story. I’m still unclear as to how it’s all possible. But the boy and I have a connection. Till now he has been the only living person to be able to see and communicate with me. Ja’rel listened intently to Freed’s words. She was even intrigued by what he said. However she turned to him with a warning glare. “This boy eagerly helps to obtain your lost memories. But what will you do with them once you obtain them?” Freed was taken aback by the woman’s question. What he would do after obtaining all the shards had not been considered yet. The woman had clearly peered into Jared’s mind at one point or another. It was the only way she could have known about the memory hunt. The woman continued speaking with him. “That boy is very innocent despite being a member of the Star Wolves. His good spirit has even managed to affect those around him. You’d be wise to allow it to reach you.” She walked away leaving Freed bewildered. Walking to Run! Battle along the Astral Plain Several hours later, Jared found himself stirring within bed again. This time he found himself with Ja’rel seated beside him. He could smell the aroma of something sweet close by. Trembling, he tried to sit up. Once he managed to do so, he got a look at Ja’rel. She had on a sweet smile as usual. This was a seriously friendly woman. Jared felt comforted by her smile. “This has got to be the hangover of the century.” “Hangover, child?” replied the elderly woman. Jared realized what he said and became embarrassed. He also realized that she didn’t actually know what the word meant. He waved his hand back and forth and tried to smile. “Nothing to worry about! Just an expression used on earth.” “I see. How do you feel?” “I honestly feel like i was hit by a 10x beam or something.” “10x Beam?” she asked. Jared chuckled a bit again and had a sweat drop appear over his head. “Again, nothing to worry about. I just feel really beat up. You didn’t tell me that merger would take so much out of me.” The woman nodded. “Actually if you recall I did just before you went into the cave. Here, drink this.” She shoved the cup into Jared’s hands suddenly. Amazingly none of the contents spilled onto him. Jared looked at the cup curiously. The sweet smell was coming from the cup. Surely it must be good if it smelled sweet. Jared took a swig quickly. He discovered two things abrasively. 1: The contents was extremely hot. 2: the contents was not so good tasting. Jared fumbled the cup, coughing chronically from having scorched his throat. It was by Ja’rel’s quick use of telekinesis that the contents didn’t utterly spill all over the place. Jared had his hands over his throat coughing still. “Are you alright, child?” the woman asked. “Agh! That was not fun! How come you didn’t tell me it was hot?” “How come you did not check the contents to see for yourself?” Jared looked away, his eyes now beady black dots and his form far smaller than usual as he twiddled his thumbs. I asked for that. Jared then turned back to her, body returned to normal. She returned the cup to his hands. Jared looked at it again. “Sorry. What is this stuff anyway?” “It is a special tea mix. It restores energy. Please drink.” Jared nodded. He slowly took in the contents this time. Jared tried hard not to make a face. The tea was quite sour. But the more he drank, the less winded he started to feel. A little sour taste was worth it to kill the heavy fatigue his body was experiencing right now. With the entire tea cup consumed, Jared was back to feeling 100% and jumped out of his bed. After a series of body builder flexing poses, he turned back to Ja’rel with a grin. “I feel like a new man! That’s great! I wish we had this stuff back on earth. Gee, you must have been someone’s wonderful wife at some point!” Ja’rel let out a giggle. “Oh child, you’re too much!” “Hehe no need to be embarrassed. You remind me of my grandmother back home. She is a wonderful woman! Whenever I was over visiting her, she’d make me tea when I was sick.” “Oh my! She sounds lovely. Caring hearts are a dying breed in this life.” Jared nodded. “But I promise to be one of the existing ones!” “I can tell! You’re doing a wonderful job so far. Freed trusts you very much. I can see in your memories you have many that you care for and one that you look up to.” Jared had a homesick look on his face. He knew just who it was she was referring to. He had not seen him in a long time. But Jared knew just as he was, that person was out there finding his own path. He felt their paths would cross again someday soon. In fact he was hoping for it. Jared looked down at the wristband on his wrist with a wolf symbol etched upon it. The Star Wolves were his mark. He wondered how this person would react to seeing it. But for now, he needed to tend to business. “So now that I’ve obtained the stone, what happens from here?” “Now, if you wish to master your new powers, you must train more. I have much more to teach you if you have the time to learn.” Jared nodded. “I always have time to learn.” “Fantastic! You are a bright one.” Ja’rel turned to her right and raised her voiced. “He’s ready now!” Freed, who had been meditating for the duration of the conversation now had his attention drawn. Both Jared and Freed turn to the sound of footsteps. Into the room stepped a short figure. Jared and Freed were shocked to see this new person. Ja’rel smiled at Jared and pointed their new guest. “Jared, meet Ja’heim. He is the subject of your next trial.” Freed and Jared were left in disbelief. Ja’heim looked dreadfully pale and sick. Jared went to approach him. But became skeptical. “Ms. Ja’rel, are you sure? He looks...” “Sickly?” spoke the man himself. His voice sounded hoarse as if suffering from a bad case of laryngitis. He coughed profusely as well, making Jared very much against approaching him. He edged backwards. What could be the meaning of a trial involving him? Freed wondered as he stared Ja’heim Freed was hardly skeptical. If anything he was even more suspicious. Ja’rel looked at Freed with a sly grin. I see. You’re cautious of his appearance. Truly a vetted spirit. she thought. “Jared, you are taken by his first appearance. Your next trial will also involve the mind. The two of you will venture into the Astral Realm for this test.” The woman pulled out a Gem of Telepathy. It’s glittering appearance began to glow even more as she focused into it. Jared, Freed and Ja’heim stared into the gem. Suddenly they found themselves completely blinded by a blinding expanding light. As he had his eyes closed, he could hear Ja’rel’s voice. “A battle within the world of the mind awaits you Jared. Defeat Ja’heim if you wish to take on my next test.” Jared opened his eyes once again. He was laying on the ground now. Freed was on his hands and knees sitting up. He was looking around to see a black night sky with stars above. The ground was pure sand. The Astral Realm. Here I can be in a solid form. he said as he picked up sand with his own hand. He then looked to Jared who was sitting up to look at him. “Hey, what are you doing?” He asked. Nothing. We’ve been transported to a different realm. My spirit is able to physically touch things here. Jared nodded. He then remembered Ja’heim. “Ja’heim. Where is he?” Freed looked behind Jared. Suddenly his eyes widened. Freed pointed behind him. Turning, Jared was shocked at what he saw. Ja’heim was giving off mists of black energy from his body. The black energy mist was even rising out of his eyes. Both Jared and Freed rose to guard. “What’s...happening to him!?” Jared asked. Freed scowled. It’s as I was beginning to suspect. Ja’heim’s true power lies here in the Astral Realm. Sickly body serves as a hinderance for it in the real world so he’s learned to master it here. Jared we have to be ready. Jared nodded. Ja’heim let out a shrilling scream as his power began to expand. Then the unthinkable happened. Ja’heim turned pitch black and began to grow drastically in size. Jared watched him grow in awe, Freed staring in fear. Ja’heim stopped growing at about 15 feet and had become a ferocious looking beast of sorts. the creature bear claws at the pair and gave a vicious roar asa black mist energy flared off of him. Jared went into stance immediately. Jared, Ja’heim is an Astral Battler! Jared stared up at the beast with only one question in mind. How would he beat it? words: 1,758 |

A rippling wind pushed against Jared and Freed as Ja’heim towered over them both roaring at them. The pair had been put on the edge wondering how he would attack. Jared this is not good! Jared looked to Freed with an annoyed expression. “Really? I’d have never guessed.” *RAWWWWWWR!!!!* Jared and Freed were forced to return their attention back to Ja’heim. Terror gripped their expressions as his giant hand went rushing down to slam upon them. In different directions, Jared and Freed jumped out of the way. The force of the crash spun Jared off balance and he landed upon the ground in a roll. Freed however landed balanced upon both feet. Forming a ball of energy above his palm he slung it at the creature’s upper backside as he was turned to Jared. Seeing what Freed had done, Jared formed a ki ball in his hand as well as the creature turned away to Freed. He launched it at Ja’heim’s back and then proceeded to run in an attempt to get on his blind side. Ja’heim however turned and forced his foot down toward Jared. JARED! Jared sprung backwards, using his hands to bounce back once he flipped. Jared had the creature upon him flinging his hand down at him. With a jump, Jared landed on Ja’heim’s forearm. He started sprinting up the arm till just before the shoulder. “Super Gokou Jr. Hurricane Kick!” Jared flung himself into a wild spin. His kick was stopped cold when Ja’heim managed to grabbed Jared. Feeling the squeeze Jared started to let out grunts of pain. Freed rushed up and lodged his foot against the back of Ja’heim’s hand. Feeling a loosening in the grip, Jared pulled himself out and then lunged forward with a headbutt to the forehead. Jared then shot off to the left with Freed flying to the right. Slowing down the two cupped their hands at their side, minds in synchronization. Jared! “Freed!” “KA…ME…HA…ME…HAAAAAA!!!” Simultaneous action! They fired their dense energy wave at the same time. Ja’heim watched as the two beams flew toward him. There was a direct hit! Freed and Jared were about to celebrate landing the hit when they noticed the beams seemingly pouring into Ja’heim. Both of them gasped. He was absorbing the energy. He’s…!!! “…absorbing it!” The energy finished being absorbed. The creature threw its arms out and unleashed power in the form of a rippling ki spray from both hands. Both Jared and Freed were forced back by the energy. With a crash they hit the ground. Ja’heim let out a ferocious roar. Jared stood up on his feet. “He absorbs energy!” He can absorb energy to make himself stronger. “This level isn’t enough! I’ll have to take it up a level.” Jared shot a glance to Freed. I’m sure we could do Spiritken in this place. But I’ve relied on his strength for long enough. Jared started focusing his power, drawing Freed’s attention. Jared threw his fists into the air as energy began to rise up around him. He levitated a little just before thrusting his arms down with his fists still tightened. He was engulfed in a yellow energy at that moment. Glowing eyes appeared inside the light as Jared started to adjust to the newfound energy. He emerged with his clothing restored as new, a yellow glow surrounding his body and his own facial featured matured. His expression was hardened as all traces of his easygoingness vanished in the moment. Jared’s eyes shifted to Freed. He…transformed. He’s choosing to used his awakened abilities. Jared shifted his eyes to Ja’heim. He vanished quickly and appeared before the creature himself. Ja’heim’s hands were coming straight down upon Jared from above. Jared looked above, frowning just a bit. Rotated backwards and extended his palms. His mere energy exerted providing a barrier that stopped the swinging hands cold. Then he rushed forward in a speedy blur fashion, forcing himself into the chest of Ja’heim with a full body crash. He made the creature stagger back. “Now, Freed!” With Ja’heim off balance, Freed was able to rush up and drop a kick onto the creature’s head and sprawl him flat upon the ground. It allowed them the chance to regroup and look upon their work of effort. Jared stared at the creature as he lay motionless on the ground. He’s not done, Jared thought. Jared knew the creature wasn’t finished. But he was rather shocked when he sprung up like the hits were nothing. “I don’t believe it!” He’s very powerful! Jared be careful! Jared became alarmed when he noticed a grin on the creature’s face. In a sudden barrage, the creature began thrusting its claws forward at the pair attempting to impale them with the claws. Quickly, the two switched back and forth trying to keep ahead of the claw thrusts. “This is insane! By how much did we increase his power with our beams!?” I’m not sure! But we cannot achieve victory this way. GAH! Suddenly he stopped thrusting and shot his hand sharply down on Freed, sending flying sideways. Jared gasped as Ja’heim tried to do the same with him. Jared put up both hands as his energy flared off in a dangerous aura. Ja’heim managed to push him down to the ground to land on both feet before Jared put out overwhelming opposing force. He was punching at the creature’s hand as he pulled up into the air. Jared failed to notice the right hand coming about and was plunged back into the ground with a harsh crash. He plunged out of a sand hill and crashed into some rocks lying nearby. Freed stood up. He saw the creature looking off in the other direction. Jared’s awakening ability gives him some edge. But the creature is still working with the extra energy we gave him. To turn this around he needs to expel it. Freed picked up off of the ground and soared toward the creature. Sensing him coming, Ja’heim turned around. Freed suddenly blasted off to the left. Take your best shot at me creature, if you can! he shouted out. Jared emerged from the rocks trying to find the creature again. That’s when he noticed Freed leading away in the distance. What’s he doing? He tried to piece it together when suddenly the creature fired a blast from the mouth in an attempt to knock Freed out of the sky. Then Jared flashed back.
Right, he absorbed our energy. Freed must figure if he uses it, he’ll become weaker. Freed had the creature in his sights and drew a distance away. He threw his hands out as the creature fired another beam from its mouth. Freed produced a force bubble around his body that protected him from the blast. But the creature kept on spilling energy. Jared began to run toward Freed as he noticed Freed’s bubble starting to waver. He took off from the ground when Freed was overpowered by the beam and knocked backwards. “Freed!” Ja’heim was ready to go for the finishing shot. Freed was on the ground, his body becoming faded. As the creature was going down for the strike, Jared appeared and ejected energy from his palms to stop the creature’s swing. Then he took Freed’s arm into his grip and teleported away with Instantaneous Movement. They reappeared behind some rocks a distance away. Freed was barely conscious. “Freed, are you ok?” The spirit looked back at Jared with a grin. I wasn’t expecting him to overpower my shield. I guess not enough of my memory shards have been gathered to access enough of my power and hold him off. “Freed…” It’s as I thought. In this realm he’s just too powerful like this. Jared nodded. He stood up on his feet and looked at the creature. It had found them and was heading in their direction. Jared became angry. “I want to do things with my own power. That’s the reason I used this form instead of our Spiritken.” But that’s just it. She sent us both here. This is not your trial. This is our trial. We’ve been fighting this together anyway. “I see. Then we’ll pass it together.” Freed was up on one knee. Jared looked down to him and grinned. “Let’s go, Freed.” The creature stopped when it noticed Jared and Freed standing together. Jared went first pointing to the sky. “The soul of me…!” Freed did the same. And me… “…will now OVERLAY!” Freed and Jared became two separate streaks of blue and yellow energy swirling around each other and rising to the sky. Ja’heim watched this all occur with an expression of surprise upon his face. The two beams of energy collided high above his head creating a light orb in the sky. The orb then shot a beam down to the ground with a crash. The new form of the pair started to take shape inside the light from the beam crash as their voices could be heard. “When two faraway souls connect, the descending power appears!” Following this crash down was an explosion that covered the area in a blinding light. Jared’s new form touched the ground finally. Covered in a glowing golden and blue aura he stood. His very clothing had traces of gold and white glowing off them. The transformation changed his clothing. There was a white sleeveless vest on him with a gold and blue strip running vertical along the edges, his pants had the same white and gold strip running parallel to the bottom of the pants leg. Jared’s hair stood erect and was a mix of glowing white streaks and his natural blond. His face looked far less boy like with a combination of Freed and his own features. The combination made him look to have aged at least 6 years. Freed’s shining blue eye on the left with Jared’s own on the right. “Soul Exceed Fusion!” Filled with a new power and a revitalized spirit, the newly transformed Jared stood to face his opponent, Ja’heim. “Behold, creature, the power of Spiritken!” Freed and Jared locked eyes. Jared, let’s win this. Jared nodded to Freed and then turned his head forward again. Now their transformed body began to move as wanted. Jared spun himself around once more and raised a hand to the sky as energy began to glow off the hand. “To a powerful fighter, all fights are important! The power to fight is gathered from the willpower deep inside the fighter!”cried Jared & Freed. Rushing into the sky now the energy launched had itself from his hand. Then what was produced from it was a staff that was spinning about just before it made its way back to him. Jared had a grin as he flew near him “Appear now, Spirit Weapon! Bansho Fan!!” He snatched it into his grip. The moment he did so, leaf like extensions appeared upon the top of the fan. Jared then landed on the ground. “This special weapon has the ability to summon stunning winds.” Alright, Jared! Let’s do it Jared started to twirl the fan around with a single hand, doing a graceful spin at the same time and lifting the fan up down and around his body. At the same time he was doing this, a powerful wind stirred up and started whiz across the battle field. The creature found itself trapped by the winds and unable to move. Jared suddenly launched into the air with Ja’heim in his sights. The creature sat there with static electricity around his body. He couldn’t move. Jared suspended himself in the air with energy flaring off of his body. Surely he won’t be able to absorb it this time. Now, Jared the finish! Jared thrust his arms out sideways and allowed energy together to the palms. He thrust himself into a spin, bringing the energy together and cupping his hands so there was an orb between them with light glaring out in all directions. “Here is our finish! SPIRITKAME…HAME…HAAAAAAA!!!” He took aim at Ja’heim and unleashed a powerful Super Kamehameha from his hands toward the opponent’s body. The creature let out a chilling scream as the blast crashed directly into him and caused an explosion Jared was barely able to hold his position against. As the smoke started to rise after the boom, Jared found that the world around him was starting to warp again. He turned around in surprise, feeling the pull of the dimension’s change. Unable to resist, Jared was pulled through the worm hole and forced back to the real world where he and Freed separated and returned to their normal appearances. Jared sat up while Freed floated again. It seemed he regained his spirit form once more. “Welcome back, child and vetted spirit.” Ja’rel was seated before them. “I’m back! What happened?” “You passed the test. There was no more need to keep you in that realm once you defeated Ja’heim.” “Ah, that’s right! Where is he?” Ja’rel pointed behind Jared. Ja’heim was asleep upon the floor. Jared was concerned. “Is he…” Ja’rel got up from the chair and walked by Jared. “He’ll be fine. It seems your battle drained his mental energy. Very good to the both of you. Rest up. If your training is to be complete you’ll need your sleep. We shall start first thing in the morning with your next test.” Ja’rel left the room. Freed and Jared retreated to his bed. Floating above Jared’s bed in a meditative stance, he looked down at Jared. Jared, the power of Spiritken, while powerful is very limited. We must… “I know. We must find a way to surpass it. The training we receive here may help us get by that limitation. For now I sleep.” Jared laid back down and turned his head. Freed nodded and became pure energy. Then he retreated to Jared’s gem of telepathy to rest. Words: 2,507 Total: 4,265 |
