Mom, Dad, so much has changed since I left home. I’ve been on what has to be the ultimate adventure. I’ve seen places not even imagined within my own dreams. I’ve met some of the most amazing...and beautiful <3Kasume<3....people in the universe. I’ve learned to do things I never thought possible. All of it is because of you believing in me enough to let me do it. It’s difficult to be doing what I’m doing. But I continue knowing that you are there to support me when I need it. I know it must be hard for you to cope with me not being there. It’s just as difficult for me to be going through all of this without you there to see it. But when it is best for me to do so, trust that I will return home as quickly as possible. Signed, Jared Running to Fly! The Road to Telepathic Mastery Jared closed the book he was writing in. Before the traveling even began, Jared purchased several notebooks to write in. This one had been filled with letters he’d written to his parents. He couldn’t send them but they helped to cope with the situation of being separated from his family. He placed the book back in his bag. Then his eyes drifted off through the window. Later he found himself climbed into a tree. He hung from a tree branch with his bare hands just trying to hold himself there. He breathed deeply, keeping himself in a state of calm. The entire time, Freed seemed to be watching him near the stem of the tree. Jared seemed to be preparing to do something. It was worth it to watch and wait. The boy took a deep breath. He tensed his muscles and steadied his legs. “Ok here I go!” With a mighty swing of the legs, Jared swung himself upward. He let his hands slide a little then finished the swing in a full 360 rotation. WIth momentum still in his corner he swung up again. This time at the 180 mark he stopped and held himself there looking down. He could see the ground below him. But his body strength wouldn’t fail him yet. He had his balance intact. Keeping his balance, Jared steadily shifted to the right. His hands had become his feet. After about four bits to the right, Jared finished his swing and top-sided upon the branch in perfect balance. After landing, Freed gave his commentary. Your balance is nearly flawless, Jared. Very good. “Thanks. I need to make sure balance is perfect for the battle techniques I’ve been learning. Not much room for a sloppy fighter.” As I was back then...
I had gotten my mentor into a very difficult situation back then. But now I have a chance to be better than that. “Jared!” He turned to see Ja’rel appearing to him in astral form. Her left hand was glowing. “It is time. The final test of your mental power under my training.” Jared and Freed watched as the glow expanded. They knew like her test before it, this one would project them into the astral realm. Rather than be staggered by the expanding light, Jared stared into it unflinching. Freed noticed Jared’s expression and knew right then and there that Jared was prepared to take on this test fearlessly Words: 2,522 |

Jared world came into perspective. A forest much like the one he had traveled through to reach Ja’rel, Jared found himself standing in the clearing. Once again Freed appeared more solid to Jared, as a result of being in the astral plain once more. Jared raised a brow, quickly jotting a mental note that they could use Spiritken here if needed. His eyes shifted away from Freed and was checking the surroundings. Freed had merely glanced up to the sky. Nothing but white light could be seen through the trees above and the clearing they were placed in. A forest. So here is where the final test rests, said Freed. “Yeah, I just wonder what it is.” Still observing, Freed quickly made a discovery and pointed to it. Standing with the back facing them was a person. It was a peculiar presence to say the least, quickly making Jared and Freed cautious of who it might be. Jared and Freed looked at each other once. Freed gave a nod so as to let Jared know he suspected the test to lie with this person. So Jared decided to approach cautiously. He walked himself over at a steady pace up until he was about three feet away. The person didn’t turn to look at him at all. He could see the person’s hair was long enough that it passed for female. Yet Jared’s sense of infatuation remained not triggered at all. He was about to speak when she spoke. “Welcome Jared...” came the soft feminine voice. Then she turned and smiled at Freed, “and vetted Spirit.” Jared and Freed were flabbergasted. This person in front of them could only be Ja’rel herself! Here she was a young nimble girl. This girl is..! “Ja’rel?” The young girl yawned a bit as she looked at Jared. Jared was confused greatly. But Freed had pieced it together instantly. She has powerful mental abilities Jared. Much like Ja’heim, she can have a different form altogether in the Astral Plain. Jared nodded and then looked back to the girl. “So am I suppose to fight you too?” The girl, Ja’rel, yawned once more. “I’m...afraid its a bit more complicated than that,” As she said this, her body began to give off a black glow. Jared and Freed were forced to react. Jared began to stepping back. Freed had no idea what he was witnessing. “Not good.” Suddenly, several black wisps shot off from her aura. They rushed in front of her and began to form a circle around the clearing. Freed took to being on guard. Jared looked at all sides in urgency. He watched as the wisps of energy started to take form. Gritting his teeth as he dropped into a ready like stance, Jared mindset slowly slipped into battle mode. Wisps had taken the form of sleek humanoid like creatures. They appeared to be like shadows. Freed immediately placed himself back to back with Jared, also preparing for a battle. There were six of these creatures that surrounded them in the clearing. “I have no idea what these things are. Do you?” I’ve never seen things like these before. Ja’rel yawned again. “Defeat these creatures and your test is complete. I shall go for a nap now. I’ll return only if you defeat these creatures.” Jared watched as Ja’rel vanished from sight. “Gone!” Jared they’re getting ready to attack. His attention came back to the creatures just in time. The moment Freed had shouted, all six creatures lunged at the pair. Alarmed, Jared and Freed jumped straight into the air. Landing on the ground again separated from each other, they tried to find each other quickly. When Jared looked, all he saw was several clumps of rock flying in his direction. Jared’s instincts kicked in and he vanished from sight. At the same time a moving blur appeared crossing along the flying rocks. Jared reappeared at the last one and did a jump spin kick aimed for the head of a creature. His eyes widened seeing his leg pass through the creature. He then found himself knocked sideways by the other just before a rock crashed into him behind sending him to the ground rolling. Freed saw Jared go down and immediately showed concern. He had little time to react, because three of the group came charging at him firing an energy beam each from the mouth. With his two hands, Freed produced a buffer. The buffer absorbed most of the shock of the blast but still had enough kick to force him into a backward skid. Rushing forward he created a sharp force sending the trio flying apart. Freed jumped into the air, locating Jared as he was just getting up on his hands and knees again. Freed was about to drop down toward him. That’s when one of the creatures appeared at point blank range. Freed suddenly found himself unable to move for a moment. It was just enough time for a second creature to drop down on him with an overhead pound. Jared watched and became angry seeing Freed struck like that. Hoping to catch him, Jared rushed over. But Freed managed to safely drop upon his feet. “Freed!” Freed shook his head and looked around. The creatures were hovering somewhat high above their heads. They have powerful mental ability. I was frozen in place by telekinesis somehow just long enough to be hit. “I understand!” Jared nodded. He stiffened his body throwing his arms out as an electric aura burst up around him. His face features matured a little as he invoked his awakening power. His eyes shifted to Freed. “I’m not sure how but my physical attacks pass right through them. You’re a spirit, perhaps you can physically strike them.” Freed nodded. ‘Jared’s demeanor has greatly changed. He may be capable of drawing a victory without Spiritken.’ Freed though. We can do this Freed. Just as they can work together...so can we. Jared thought. Freed’s eyes shifted to Jared. Whenever you’re ready. Jared placed himself into a crouching stance and focused. His eyes started glowing bright blue. Shortly after this happened, piece of the ground started to give off the same blue glow. Jared projected his hands forward. 12 pieces of ground pulled up from the ground at his whim. His hands were trembling but he could feel the piece of ground under his control. Freed was on his mark. The creatures were ready it seemed. Jared flung his arms back then swung them forward, releasing the chunks of ground. The creatures dodged. Freed understood what he was to do and suddenly accelerated his body. Able to make physical contact with the creatures, Freed took hold of two by the arm, swung them into two others to send them falling down. Jared vanished as well, appearing between the other two. He extended his arms apart, a palm aimed at both creatures. The palms released energy into the creatures, blasting a hole right through them. The fizzled a bit after the blasts had finished projecting. Then the creatures evaporated. Freed looked down at the ground in time to see the other four starting to move. Seeing them to as well, Jared shouted toward Freed. “It’s our chance!” RIght! Their hands cupped they angled themselves and synchronized their focus. KAME...HAME...HAAAA!! The two fired their designated energy beam toward the creatures, all four of which stared up in shock as the beams came down on them. There was a shrilling screech from them as the beams hit the ground with explosive impact. Both Jared and Freed braced themselves against the backlash of the explosion. It seemed as if they had managed to do the deed. Landing on the ground, the pair waited for the smoke to appear. The moment it started to fade, the two could see something in the cloud. It was the young Ja’rel. Once she was clearly visible, she gave another yawn. “I was hoping I’d get more rest than this. You two are quick at work.” Jared nodded again as his energy settled. He reverted back to normal in the same instance. Ja’rel seemed satisfied with what she saw. With a simple thrust of the hands, light was flashed in Jared’s eyes. Moments after that he found he had returned to area just outside of Ja’rel’s lodgings. She was waiting for him there as her usual elderly self. She seemed very happy. “As I thought. You are a being of great talent. The power entrusted to you will be a blessing along your journey. Use it well.” Jared suddenly found himself glowing with light blue energy. Jared felt light on his feet. Warm as well, he seemed very happy. Freed simply kept quiet and smiled. Jared was growing every day. “I have nothing left to teach you. You’ve excelled in my exercises. Now feel free to continue your training in the Saljuk temple if you wish. My abilities are not the only ones you can learn from.” Jared nodded. “For now I bid you farewell.” She said this and left Jared to bask in his accomplishments. Jared looked at Freed with a grin on his face. “You know, Freed. We did this together. We’ll find your memories as well in the same manner.” Yes. My confidence in the success of the mission is higher now than it ever has been. I believe we will find all the shards in good time. Jared beamed with confidence. He nodded and turned away from Freed, headed for the way he came here to begin with. Freed watched him walk away as always. Observation number 30: Jared’s potential continues to grow. At this point, his limits seem endless. Jared, I will continue my observations so that someday I will fully understand you and the meaning behind our meeting. Freed nodded once and then vanished into thin air, returning himself to the mental realm of the Gem of Telepathy. words: 1,692/4,219 |
