Master Roshi was certainly an odd organic. While Rubic had been visiting the old man mostly to expand Rubic's combat library for better efficiency and effectiveness in combat, the old man did seem open to teaching Rubic a few techniques. Apparently, Rubic was silent, obedient, and skilled--apparently, the perfect mix for a student according to Roshi's opinion. The old man apparently had to deal with a great many students sometimes, so the less trouble he got from one of them, the better. However, one day, while Rubic was practicing his newly acquired techniques, Roshi walked up to Rubic.

"Alright, listen, bucket o' bolts. One of my older students will be arriving shortly, and just because I want to make sure he hasn't gotten lazy, I want you to fight him," The old man said, his sunglasses hiding his eyes. Rubic did not seem to have any conflicting instructions or directives, so he merely nodded in agreement, as silent and cold as Rubic usually was. Without an empathy matrix or personality unit, he wasn't exactly the most personable person in the world.

Once the individual arrived, an individual named Kularian, Rubic introduced himself. "I am Robotic Bodyguard and Combatant Series Four Model One One. I am your opponent. Activating combat protocols," Rubic said, taking a quick scan of his opponent before dashing forward to assault the person head on.

The warrior landed on the island, looking around a bit as he did so. Roshi had detected him immediately, as soon as he'd appeared on Earth, likely through use of Baba's crystal. And, in that time, he'd already contacted him, invited him over to the island for a bit of a training session with one of his new recruits. He let out a low sigh, remember that time he'd fought Dreisen. Or Tony. Whatever his name was. He couldn't really recall, save that the fellow was a boxer. And the fight had been pretty fun, overall.

Still, Kularian didn't know if he wanted to waste his time fighting someone with such a lower power... but, then again, he supposed he owed Roshi a favor or two. With a sigh, the warrior lifted off the ground, streaking through the sky as he made his way over to Roshi's island, landing on it a short distance from the house, before he meandered up towards it... when he was accosted by a robotic-seeming warrior.

Then, the warrior shot forward at Kularian, throwing a punch, which Kularian caught, followed by an elbow, which the warrior also caught. “Hm. An android, eh? Your attacks are precise, but predictable. You follow too many patterns in standard martial arts,” Kularian said before he moved behind the android warrior, waiting for him to pick up on where the Lismian had moved to. “You need to flow a bit more. Release your combat protocols, and following pre-created attacks. Make your own.”

Kularian gave an example then, as he spun, throwing an elbow before moving low, striking with a low kick. He held back tremendously, though, not wanting to destroy this android for no reason.

Rubic tried processing the man's words. Pre-defined? A machine was composed of nothing but pre-defined parameters and operating procedures. While Rubic could definitely 'make things up', it was not constituent within his programming nor was it really efficient in the middle of a combat situation. Still, Rubic was rather surprised by the individual's speed, trying his best to keep up and keep his front towards the opponent, arms raised in a defensive posture. The man's speed and strength, even as Rubic's scouter reading was rather high, almost seemed like he was holding back for some reason. Perhaps he did not want to damage a fellow student of Roshi. Still, Rubic raised an arm to defend against the elbow aimed at him, blocking the blow (though a sizeable dent was in the forearm armor) and leapt over the sweep which resulted in a combat roll to Kular's right. Rubic was quickly back on his feet, resuming his usual aggressive attack pattern, lashing out with a punch to the chest with the right, punch to the face with the left, and a spinning kick to the torso as the follow up, hoping to disorient his opponent or at least knock him off balance enough for Rubic to seize a temporary advantage.

Kularian smirked. “You don't talk much, do you?” The android moved forward then, and launched a pair of attacks at the Lismian's body. The warrior didn't even flinch, and rather instead let his own open palms drive outward, knocking both attacks away from his body. The android then moved forward, recovering quite quickly, and launched a kick attack at Kular as well.

The man grunted, gripping Rubic's leg with his hand, stopping the android cold. “You need to let yourself flow, more. If you recite attacks out of your memory bank like a baker reading a recipe, you're never going to make more than a damn loaf of bread!” Kular roared, turning and throwing the mechanical fighter away from him. “The reason that stances and styles exist is because people have put together effective means of stringing together attacks, defenses, and movement betwixt them. But if all you do is copy what's out there, then all you're doing is following what someone else has done.”

The warrior cracked his neck, not even bothering to take a stance. It wasn't because Rubic wasn't a capable fighter; it was simply because Kular never used them. “Now let's see something from you that I can't find in a textbook, if ya ken what I'm saying.”

The fellow warrior's follow up was quick, almost effortless. Even as Rubic was pushing his mechanical body to peak efficiency, the man was countering his blows with incredible ease, forcing Rubic to re-evaluate the tactical situation in front of him. Millions of processes were pushed through his robotic brain, data stream after data stream analyzed in real-time in order to better compensate for the situation.

"Speaking during combat is inefficient," Rubic merely stated for the benefit of the man's implied question. The man's strike against Rubic's attack forced the robot back a bit before his kick, only for the android to be thrown across the island. Rubic rolled with the impact, easily coming up to his feet by using the momentum of the throw to right himself, albeit two dozen feet away. Rubic recalculated his approach vectors and targeting information, a swirl of data passing over his vision in nearly an instant as Rubic came up with a rather unprecedented maneuver. It was true that Rubic had little martial arts training; He was merely a repository of information of situations he had personally encountered. In most fights, Rubic's sheer, brute force had been the deciding factor, but in this case, it was getting him nowhere.

Regardless, Rubic charged towards the individual once again, arms raised for another set of strikes. However, before Rubic actually was close enough to punch the opponent, he initiated his speed protocols, the android disappearing for a moment and appearing behind Kularian, just a short distance away, before loosing an Energy Wave towards his opponent. it was not a powerful one, the blue energy rushing towards the target. Once the attack was finished, Rubic rushed in again, hopefully with his opponent recovering from the attack. He then performed another Spinning Kick towards the torso and once that was complete, the android would step forward with the momentum of his kick and aim high with another.

“Yeesh. You're definitely an android,” Kularian murmured as he watched the android sail away, rolling back up to its feet. For one thing, it was resilient, even if Kular was holding back, given the fact that with his attacks, it had quite easily managed to get back up and keep coming. He saw it beginning to approach, and was ready for it to do so, when the engineered human suddenly flickered, moving behind the Lismian. “Hmph,” Kularian spoke, having underestimated it a bit as it appeared, launching a wave of energy at him.

“There you, go!” Kular said with a grin, slamming his fist into the energy wave as it approached, sending it out towards the water. As he turned back, he blinked, having not expected the android to come at him so quickly. He hissed as the foot slammed into his stomach, but he wasn't about to let the momentum continue for the next attack to land and flickered backwards, just out of range of Rubic's leg. “See, that's what I mean. Change it up, use what you've got to do some damage to your enemies when they're not expecting it.”

Kular moved then, darting forward on his own as he launched a quick pair of jabs at Rubic's face area before he darted around behind, sweeping out his leg at the other. “But your body needs to be able to react and adapt to any situation, at any given time. So hopefully, that efficiency you like helps with that,” Kular said with a smirk as he flickered backwards, putting some distance between them again.

Rubic did not feel pleasure or pride. The individual's praise of Rubic's actions acted as nothing more than a critique, an affirmation that what Rubic had performed had, indeed, worked to desired effect, even if it did not truly do the damage the android expected. Variables were constantly being re-evaluated as the battle progressed, data constantly being gathered on the opponent. The problem was that these variables were being re-evaluated far more often than in any battle Rubic had ever been in. It seemed like the opponent displayed more and more capabilities throughout the battle, rather than Rubic's impressive calculations determining an opponent's maximum capabilities right from the start.

Perhaps it was time for an upgrade.

Regardless, Rubic had at least calculated the chances of his opponent counter attacking after Rubic's assault, the robot's arms coming up into a defensive posture to stop the jabs coming at him before disappearing again for an instant, dodging the leg sweep and putting distance between himself and his opponent, exactly the same way as his opponent had done. It was clear to Rubic, based off of millions of calculations, that a victory in battle against this opponent would be very, very unlikely. The energy dan, while possibly effective, had too much of a tolerated deviation for general safety, since Kame House was not very far away. As such, Rubic merely lowered his arms and nodded to his opponent.

"Battle Complete. This unit will concede victory due to probability detection," Rubic said, not wishing to suffer any more needless damage or waste of energy. At that point, Master Roshi seemed to emerge from Kame House, adjusting his sunglasses.

The fighter gave a smirk at the other as he watched the machine analyze and pull apart his attacks like a professional. The android had flickered back away from himself as well, leaving the two a fair distance apart. "Not something I usually do, adding range," he spoke, as he began to move forward, grinning. He flickered forward then, his fist an inch or less from Rubic's head area before the android lowered its arms, seemingly admitting defeat. Kularian frowned, his fist pausing just shy of the android.

"Probabili- oh. Well yeah. You've got some skill but you're a longass way off from my level," Kularian spoke, taking a few steps backwards to put a bit more space in between them. "Hey, Roshi. That guy there. You might want to keep on the training for this guy. He's scrub, but he's got talent. I know he's an android or whatever, or hell, probably a robot, for all I know." He nodded at the machine, who stood stock still, doing...whatever it was that the robot was doing. Resting, he guessed.

"Yeah. The clunky feller just showed up on my doorstep one day and wanted to learn from me. I figured it couldn't hurt... Besides, he might know all the numbers to one of them Gentlemen's Club, eh?" the old fellow asked, and Kular couldn't help but to cover his face with his palm. He'd forgotten, it seemed, that the old fellow was something of a pervert. "I keep trying to ask him for them but he says he doesn't store that information..."

The Lismian smirked. "Well that's probably for the best. They'd make too much off you, y'know," the warrior said, before nodding to both Roshi and to Rubic. "Well this was... fun. Been awhile since I had that. I'll see you all in a bit. I need to chat with Kami about something. But you and I need to go over that Wolf Fang Fist style. I think I'm doing it wrong," he murmured, and Roshi nodded as Kularian lifted off the ground. "Robot! Keep it up. We'll fight again!"
