He had never ventured this far from the coast before, but he was determined to find out what was on the other side of that vast, blue infinity. Something inside of him had been pulling the birdman in that direction for weeks now, almost as if a separate entity was controlling him. His instincts had kept him alive this long, so there was little sense in doubting them now. Balbaroy spared a brief glance behind him. The beachhead was now completely out of site, and he was now beset on all sides by seemingly endless ocean. He was all in now, there would be no turning back. Hopefully he would spot a piece of driftwood or something similar that he could take a rest on. The bird like warrior was built for powerful speed in short bursts, and long expeditions exhausted him very quickly. His fatigue was beginning to exhibit symptoms already, as hie powerful began to feel as though the were full of lead. The horizon was beginning to dim, and he had no idea how close he was to any land. Balbaroy wasn't sure how much further he could go, but he doubted it would be much longer before his body simply gave up on him. A drop of water landed upon his golden beak, splashing him in the eye. He looked at the sky ahead of him with renewed interest. What he originally thought was sun setting, was actually a legion of black, and threatening storm clouds. The intensity of the precipitation increased rapidly, and he was quickly soaked from beak to talon. He tried to push himself onward, but his body had no fight left. The birdman fell from the sky like a stone, crashing into the sea. His mouth quickly filled with the salty water of the ocean, as he continued to sink towards the black abyss below. His body taxed far beyond it's natural limits, Balbaroy closed his eyes, excepting his fate. |
