“This vessel is absolutely worthless,” ‘Asroth’ growled to himself. “And everyone trying to jump in at once… fucking why didn’t they wait their turn? The woman would have given us all new bodies! But nooooooo, she had to—”

Asroth abruptly cut himself off in a much higher-pitched tone, squeaking indignantly. “What about YOU, bigshot? Why do you have to leave as well? It goes both ways!”

A third voice entered, mumbling, “I personally like it. It’s cozy.”

He was shot down by dozens of voices, causing a shattered voicebox effect within Asroth, who was only used to having one voice speak within him at a time. Finally the first voice wrested back control, shouting, “Back! Back, you desperate imps.” Shaking his head, ‘Asroth’ reached into his pockets, and tried whistling a tune while staring out into the stars beyond. Damaskia called to these demons, but none as of yet knew why. It was some internal ache – some millennia-old urge that told them if they went there, they would gain something magical.

Mostly out of boredom over anything else, he tried emptying the Avalanian’s pockets, trying to see what he had on him still, but only one thing seemed to be in his pockets: some kind of rock. Pulling it out, he admired it briefly, before feeling some heavy gravity pulling his palm inward. Confused, the demon tried to experimentally close and open Asroth’s hand, thinking it was perhaps some form of fatigue.

The hand didn’t reopen.

Kakarot sat alone in his ship, contemplating how his meeting with the other Cosmic Lords would go. He couldn't remember the last time he was on Damaskia or if he had ever been there at all. Things had not gone as planned for the Empire in recent weeks. The only good thing that had happened after the botched Murcielago mission was that he had been able to do what he failed to help Chaos accomplish; he had eaten the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Might.

I did it for us, he constantly reminded himself.

The dark power flowing through his every ounce of being was intoxicating. He now felt what he assumed Chaos and Vegeta had felt when they reached their respective levels of power. The only difference between Kakarot and the Dark prince Vegeta now was that Vegeta had the ability to reach even higher levels of power, even if for a short period of time. Chaos was on a level all his own with his skill on the battlefield and it irked Kakarot that he had been the one to end things prematurely on Murcielago. He still wore his black battle gear from that fateful day. He refused to wear anything else until he was satisfied that his blood debt was paid in full.

Nothing I can do now but make it up to them with every drop of blood I spill from here on out.

Not in the least bit surprised, he felt his black Gem of Telepathy calling out to him. It was resting in his bag o' tricks and yet still it managed to instantly warp him to the Astral Realm. He was greeted by a familiar face on a Saiyan gladiator arena. The man that had difficulty keeping his lunch down had been waiting for him. Without so much as a word, the Cosmic Butcher powered up and took in a deep breath. He fought the urge to puke; a reaction strictly from his opponent's presence.

"You again," was all he said and waited for the man to make a move.

“You again.”

Asroth looked up, surprised. He already had to pretend to know someone? Ah, well. Best he get it out of the way now, then.

“What, didn’t get enough of me last time, big boy?” Asroth attempted to close one eye and reopen it quickly, in a way he could tell was to be taken as flirtatious. But still unsure how the body worked, he instead ended up looking like a spastic. Shaking it off, the demon mechanically moved Asroth towards the Saiyan in front of him, who looked wary – and more than a little ashen. Was fear already playing a factor?

“My word! Are you scared of me?” He began to laugh, a harsh, chilling sound that didn’t seem fit coming out of the Avalanian’s mouth. Only then did he actually look around at where he had been placed: some sort of ancient Coliseum-looking location. Stands circled around them, rising up perhaps ten levels, in an oval shape. The ground was simply sand, meant to soak up any sweat (blood) that hit the ground.

Interesting imagination this mortal has. I could use a mind like that, considering all the swine I’ve had to work with over the— The demon cut his own thoughts off. Vanity had a way of wearing its ugly head from time to time, and nobody liked to remind themselves they were old.

Something was odd about the guy Kakarot was now fasing. Instead of barfing like he did during their last meeting, the man awkwardly approached the Cosmic Lord. There was no telling if he had been infected with some alien disease that made him act all weird and shit, so Kakarot did what came natural when someone invaded his personal space. He quickly dug his feet into the sand and bent slightly at the knees before powering up.

Then he proceeded to throw a vicious backhand toward his opponent's right cheek.

Not satisfied that he had sufficient space between himself and the gut-wrenching dude in front of him, Kakarot leapt back and once again settled his feet into the sand. He had what he guessed to be about ten yards of space from his opponent. He grinned as his dark aura danced wildly around him, making the sand rise and spin like a desert tornado. Instead of making it charge forward, Kakarot dropped it and inhaled a deep breath.

When he exhaled, a scorching wave of fire engulfed the sand between the two warriors, turning it to glass after a while. It had finally cooled down and given Kakarot his reflection and that of his opponent. He stepped forward on the glass and used just enough of his Ki to keep his full weight from shattering the glass as he ran forward. Midway across, Kakarot bent down and slid forward with his left foot extended. He hoped to trip his opponent.

He followed his leap forward by splitting into two and trying to grab his opponent's shirt while the clone continued to slide forward. If he got a hold of him, Kakarot would force the odd man to look him in the eye and try to discover what was going on with him. "Are you feeling ok, buddy?" he asked.

For a while, it seemed like nothing would happen, until—

Smack!

“D..did you just bitchslap me?” Instead of replying, the Saiyan merely grinned like a troll. “Kikikik,” the demon screeched, laughing in his own language. He’d definitely be a good person to be by my side… but he’s a bit too arrogant. Perhaps I should just kill him now. Deciding to ponder this question for later, the demon put it aside, as he was slowly realizing the point of being in this “place” was to practice fighting abilities.

Now to see what this piece o’ junk body can do, he mused.

The Saiyan exhaled streams of flames, crystalizing the sand between them and turning it to a glossy, reflective surface. Asroth admired his physique briefly from it, before the Saiyan chose to come at him via running across the glass. Asroth prepared himself for any defenses he’d have to make, just as he tripped and began sliding across the glass.

“Wha—,” he began, before getting slammed, hard, at the ankles. The force knocked him over, but Asroth rushed to his feet – clumsily, of course – and glared at the Saiyan. Just as another Saiyan grabbed him in the shirt, an identical twin.

“Are you feeling ok, buddy?”

“Uhm.” Asroth kept glancing between the two images of his opponent, and thinking perhaps the owner of this body had some sort of mental condition. Perhaps if he stared hard enough, he could wish it away. But no luck.

“There’s two of you,” he finally whispered.

With a grin, the Cosmic Butcher thought he would get a bit more entertainment out of the spar while he could. Clearly, his opponent was confused by his clone and that could prove to be most entertaining. The ease with which he was able to have his way with the confused man spoke volumes about his strength and experience. Rather than continue to fight him, he let the surprised man go.

"What THE FUCK are you looking at, bitch?" Kakarot said to his clone.

"The fuck you calling a bitch, bitch?" replied the clone.

Both Kakarots walked to opposite sides of the ring and powered up. They stared each other down for several moments before closing the distance in a white blur. They exchanged lightning fast kicks, punches, knees, and elbows, never making contact against one another. If their audience was as weak and slow to keep up as they suspected, it would surely confuse him further. After a few more quick exchanges, they both threw themselves back with a loud grunt into the glass, shattering it.

"You think you're tough shit?" Kak One said and shook a fist.

"Come at me, bro," Kak Two replied.

Once again, they charged at each other but then exchanged Ki blasts, canceling each others attacks out before reengaging in close quarters combat. The arena air was filled with smoke and sand, giving the appearance of a large scale battle taking place. Within the veil of sand and smoke, each Kakarot grinned and resisted the urge to laugh out loud. Instead, they shot crimson beams of Ki near each other and yelled as if in pain. Finally, they gave up the act and became whole before the smoke had cleared.

"I'm glad he's gone," the Cosmic Butcher said to the strange and probably confused man as he pointed across the arena circle. "Now, where were we?" he asked.

He powered up once again and flexed his hands as if to smack his opponent around some more. He had never had so much fun entertaining himself in the Astral Realm and decided that it could be a running gag at every opportunity when he sparred someone significantly weaker and less experienced in combat.

The Saiyan let go of Asroth, almost in shock as far as what he had said. Turning to face the clone, he shouted angrily, “What the FUCK are you looking at, bitch?” Asroth swallowed heavily. So at least he wasn’t going insane. But WHY did they have to look so much alike?

“The fuck you calling a bitch, bitch?”

Asroth smiled a bit. He remembered when he used to argue like this. But then he became an adult. Having childish anger never solved anything. And then they ran at each other! Throwing lightning fast punches, Asroth could only barely keep up with the finesse and ease with which they were fighting. It was almost like a choreographed dance, except this was very real, and very violent.

In a spasm, they apparently both hit each other with unbelievable force, sending them crashing into the glass and smashing it to bits.

They continued the put-down contest during the break, but Asroth had now lost track of who was who. He spent several seconds trying to guess it out, but before he could make a decision, they were both at it again, this time with Ki blasts. The battlefield was rocked with blows, and sediment filled the skies just as easily as smoke from the explosions. The lightning of the Gods, it felt like to Asroth.

Eventually came silence.

As the smoke cleared, a single Saiyan emerged. Had he killed the other? The thought was horrific, but Asroth assured himself this was the sparring realm. No physical damage could be done… right?

“I’m glad he’s gone. Now where were we?”

Asroth considered asking a question to see who was the real Saiyan. The obvious one to ask would be to repeat the phrase that had once been said to him, but quite frankly, Asroth was mere moments from shitting himself. So with a quick, scared nod, he replied, “I was leaving! Bye!”

Reaching down into his pockets, he touched the Gem and felt himself get pulled away once more, back to reality.
