Asroth’s interest was growing with the galaxy of people around him – going to Earth, and then eventually Damaskia, had opened Asroth’s eyes to all the sentient beings there really were. It wasn’t that he was ignorant of other cultures and places, but until actually going out and meeting them, they were just figments of his imagination, that he didn’t really pay any attention to – they held no sway over his life, the majority of the time. But now that he was here, on a planet he’d only heard about up till this point, he realized just how valuable this Sparring Gem was. It opened the gateways to him to meet all different fighters from all over: it also put in perspective that he was nowhere near as strong as he’d once thought he was. There were dozens of people who were more powerful than him, and could destroy him simply with a flick of their wrist or the clenching of their fist. That exhilarated him. Asroth reached into the drawer near the side of his bed, the excitement of thinking about all this overwhelming him. He had a big day tomorrow: Captain Elroy had promised the Avalanian a test run around the area, and some potential arrests as they went into the ghetto of the city. Despite that, Asroth couldn’t bring himself to go to sleep, and clutched the Gem in the palm of his hand, feeling its gravity pull him in towards itself. The Avalanian closed his eyes as he was transported to the Astral Realm. It took all he had to contain the shit-eating grin that was growing on his face. Word Count: 326 Total Count: 326 |

[Battle Recorder + Combat Rune] A foreboding figure with hair that shone like a black sea in the moon lit night stood motionless atop one of the many roofs of the fake city. On this night, a dark and cool evening, the astral world formed into a nameless city underneath the impossibly black sky. Massive buildings kept the horizon from being seen clearly but the entire city seemed to sparkle as unnaturally bright moon light bounced around the streets reflected by the many windows of the large structures. With a stoic gaze, crimson eyes watched the city below, his natural ability to sense Ki worked in conjunction with the Ki scanning technology that helped save his life. He remained motionless for several minutes as he created a mental and digital map of the area in his cybernetic mind. A small red blip suddenly appeared to his HUD alerting him of another being's presence. With a devious grin twisting the corners of his mouth upwards he took a single step off of the roof and vanished in a blur of pure speed few could follow. The journey was over in less then a breaths time and the Regent's image blurred into view across from the other soul. Various information flashed across his HUD as he scanned over the form in front of him; height, weight, and race blinked into existence in front of his eyes. All of this was unnecessary, however, as Chaos had already knew this man. Little words would be needed and the Cosmic Regent offered a simple nod to Asroth. Then, without warning, he released his power. Chaos Ki spilled over the area like a violent maelstrom heavy with malicious intent, the brilliant indigo and onyx mixed together in a grand display of raw strength. His unrestrained energy pushed, warped, and twisted around him, the buildings around them cried out against the stress his presence produced. Wind from the release of his power kicked up his hair making his long locks lift and sway out of his face. And then it was over. As if the release of power, that which few had ever seen or could comprehend, had never occurred at all. Slowly, his power level began to plummet to a more reasonable range in respect to his opponent's power. He wondered if Asroth would be shook by the light show but he hoped that would not be the case. Even now he thirsted for more power, to hone his skills and body into deadlier tools. The bright moon hanging low over head cast pale milk-y light between the warriors as a cool breeze rolled by. "It's been awhile," he stated dryly while preparing for his opponent to make a move.

Asroth opened his eyes slowly, looking around in wonder. The location that had been chosen for this particular fight looked to be a metropolis in the middle of the night. The bright moon above the skies set the place ablaze with twinkling lights and reflecting surfaces, a beautiful sight to behold. He quietly gasped to himself as he took it all in. A brush of wind tickled Asroth’s scalp, and he looked to the side, and saw a familiar figure: Chaos was once again there to greet him. Asroth nodded in response to the Regent, a small smirk tickling the corners of his lips. This would certainly be interesting. Asroth was much stronger than when they’d first met, but as he recalled, that man had been an absolutely monstrous figure. Would all his power even bring a dent against such a goliath he was facing? To put an exclamation point on the event, the Regent began to power up, the crystalline darkness swirling around him in a tornado of raw, unchecked strength. It continued to bubble over, the very earth at their feet beginning to shake, possibly breaking under the force from this chaotic being. His hair slowly raised, lastly, hovering above his face and shining with a ghostly lunar light, giving him the appearance of a war god, coming to wreak havoc upon any souls who dared cross him or his. Just as Asroth’s fear of a higher power was sufficiently placed, the force, and Chaos’ display of potential ability, disappeared, leaving behind no traces. “Damn…” The Exile whistled softly, a hollow ringing sound that bounced against the skyscrapers around them. “It’s been awhile.” “Yeah… it has, hasn’t it?” Asroth chuckled nervously, trying to resist the urge to run. Chaos was a — well, if not a friend, an acquaintance. Asroth doubted he should fear complete and utter annihilation. After a pregnant pause, he realized Chaos was giving him the honor of the first move. Great. After nodding to himself once or twice, to psyche himself into it, Asroth bent his knees, before shooting into the inky sky above, looking down at his opponent, now bathed in moonlight. There was a moment where he didn’t do anything, but sit there and concentrate: it was the Astral Realm, which isn’t reality, so he wasn’t sure if the attack would work. After about ten seconds, though, he seemed sated, and began to shoot down to the ground, letting Ki build around him to increase his own speed, and, at about two stories above the ground, did a 360 degree rotation that cut all momentum from his fall, and touched the ground, hopefully right in front of his foe and began to throw several jabs at Chaos’ shoulder blades and windpipe area. Hopefully, Chaos was too distracted from the rats that had sprung up around him and were now attempting to bite into his flesh. Word Count: 482 Total Count: 808 *Note* - I used my custom fundie on u. A slow sigh was the only thing that could be heard as the Regent’s opponent took to the sky. So, this man didn’t run and cower in fear at the release of his power. Impressive! Of course, in the realm they found themselves in currently such acts of bravado carry little to no repercussions if the Regent, let’s say, evaporated the Rat King. Nonetheless, the hyper-real realm provided enough of an illusion of reality that many men in Asroth’s position would of turned tail and ran for the hills. Not this man though. No, instead this warrior had taken to attacking Chaos head on! The strongest warrior in existence prepared for the assault but his attention as quickly drawn to something sharp pierced the skin of his muscled calves. His gaze shot down to the strange phenomenon occurring at his feet; dozens of filthy, fat, black rats seemed to burrow through the cement and had taken to turning his lower extremities into a quick meal. A tinge of annoyance shot through his mind as the little bastards sunk their teeth into his flesh. An annoyed grunt left his throat as he expelled a bit of his power, the raw power alone swiftly vaporized each of the vermin around him. The dust of their remains floated upwards carried by a strong breeze and the dark crimson hues of his eyes followed. As all of this happened, the Regent made the simple mistake of letting mind wander from his opponent and biggest threat; Asroth. Overconfidence? Perhaps. Such a foolish mistake was not something the Regent was usually guilty of. And where was his opponent now? Oh, just slamming jab after jab into the front of Chaos. Beneath the brilliant white jacket that adorned him deep blue bruises were forming as Asroth’s battle hardened knuckles pounded against his sternum and throat. Chaos took a step back to get some distance, partially from the force of the attacks and partly from surprise. He knew that Asroth had become stronger since they last met, but pure power level generally conveyed little of actual skill in combat. This man had certainly grown in raw power, but also and perhaps more importantly, the feral nature of the attacks and his balls-to-the-wall type start of their bout was intriguing. ”My my. That’s definitely going to leave a mark,” Chaos began, his lips twisted into a perverted form of smile as he rubbed his throat. ”It seems you’ve improved so far. That tells me you’re driven for some purpose. If I may ask, what is that purpose? Do you intend to simply flex your muscles and obtain raw power? Do you thirst for battle? Perhaps there is something or someone you fight for? Please, indulge my curiosities! With his ever present half smile upon his lips Chaos’ right hand fell to the hilt of his large crimson blade. A sickening shriek of metal filled the soundless battle field as the weapon hissed free of its sheeth. Nothing too fancy. A surge of energy filled his body as he drew on some of his reserves. With all the fluidity one would expect from the greatest of swordsman his arm thrust forward, the point glinted in the moonlight as it tore through the air towards Asroth’s left breast. The might of the blow was more then enough, whether he hit Asroth or merely air, to blow away the skyscraper behind his target. The entire building exploded in a flash of red light, drowning out the milky moonlight for a moment. The world shook and trembled as the remains of the building rained down.

The moment Asroth’s fists began to touch the Regent’s body, he cursed himself for his idiocy. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Why hadn’t he tried something with more force behind it? If he was being honest with himself, he hadn’t put too much effort behind that initial assault because he hadn’t expected it to really work. But lo and behold, his diversionary tactic had paid off. Chaos leapt back – in surprise or pain? – and looked down at himself momentarily, a half-moon smile still on his lips. ”My, my. That’s definitely going to leave a mark,” he murmured. A flash of excitement exploded in Asroth’s chest cavity: high praise from a man with what seemed like an almost limitless amount of strength at his disposal. “It seems you’ve improved so far. That tells me you’re driven for some purpose. If I may ask, what is that purpose?” For some reason, the question put Asroth on guard. It was a harmless question, but after the past few weeks of such a hectic life, he had begun putting up walls of protection around himself, so he couldn’t get hurt again? Could he really trust this, really, stranger? All the Avalanian knew about him was he was powerful, well-spoken, and most likely, based on his attire, involved in some form of royal monarchy. Ignoring Asroth’s silence, however, chaos continued. “Do you intend to simply flex your muscles and obtain raw power? Do you thirst for battle? Perhaps there is something or someone you fight for? Please, indulge my curiosities!” The last two sentences forced the man to flinch visibly. They hit home. “I—” Asroth’s voice broke. His moment of weakness was sensed by his intruders and they swiftly fought once more to take control of the Avalanian’s faculties. They were easily successful, and the strongest took hold, peering out into the world around him. The demon saw the Regent draw a blade, and looked at the man’s face, momentarily slack-jawed. He murmured just one word quietly. “Bodyguard…” Chaos’ blade sang a mournful tune as it was released from its hold, glinting eerily against the milky light from the moon. Inhaling sharply, he realized just what Chaos intended upon doing; as the blade flashed forward for a very direct thrust towards the left side of his chest, the demon maneuvered the body, using a technique he’d learned a long time ago to slow time minimally, to make himself appear faster, twisting Asroth to the side so the blade’s edge bashed across one of the protruding spikes coming off the shoulder blades of his armor. The sword slid upward from pure force alone after glancing against the spike. The force of the blow sent a cyclone of pure energy right past him, and Asroth followed by association. He felt his body crack against solid steel, and moaned quietly as the building he’d slammed into utterly exploded in a flashing display that, to the muddled mind of the demon, appeared to be a stellar lightshow of fireworks and dynamite. He smiled, briefly befuddled, before a stone that had flown into the air fell and landed atop his head, alerting the man to the destruction around him. A small measure of fear took hold of the demon, however, and he released his hold on Asroth almost immediately after coming back to. As though nothing had happened, Asroth once again tried to answer Chaos’ question. He decided to go for the simplistic approach, leaving out the emotional backdrop behind his actions. “Avalon wants me hanged.” Word Count: 585 Total Count: 1,393 |
