Herra: 794, Human Gains A 19: 1021 Herra was in a spitting mood! It had been days and weeks since Roshi had told him that he had to go to Namek, had built him up, ready to go onto the next stage in his training so he could come back and finish off his uncle, save his sister and finally go home. But no! Apparently Roshi’s idea of training was just sitting around getting frustrated! Nothing was going on, just mindless training with the promise of future training! It was more than Herra could stand. Over and over, he practiced different ways to exude his ki energy, different ways to build it up, different ways to fly, to sprint, to move. It was great, except that it was so boring! He sat on the sandy beach of an island not far from Roshi’s hut. It was a fairly large island, to be truthful; wide enough that Herra couldn’t see from one end to the other and covered in trees and tall, sharp tropical shrubs. Yet, nothing lived there but birds, and nothing grew there by fruitless trees and grasses, leaving little interest to a human population. Which meant it was safe enough for Herra to go all out on. The boy leapt to his feet on an impulse. With a momentous draw of power from the surrounding area, the boy stoop firm, lifted his head and screamed. He screamed for his frustration, and he screamed because exhaling was important to absorbing the maximum amount of ki your body could handle. When he finished, there was a small crater in the sand around him where his aura has blasted the particle’s away. He clenched both hands at his waist, focusing until a faint glow encased them. Quick as he could, he thrust his hands in the four directions away from him, laterally: front, back, side to side. Small ki orbs all shot out, sizzling like fire balls in the various directions. He then retracted his hands quickly, forming another, large ball of ki in them. With a swing of his wrist, he sent that orb off spinning around him in a trajectory aimed to intercept and destroy all the orbs around him. He kept one hand up, focused like the end of a tether line that was attached to the spirit ball, and he turned to keep control of the orb as he spun. It was a fun little way to blow off some steam, but he wasn’t in a good frame of mind to accomplish it succinctly. It was sloppy and had a wide radius. Why, in the deep jungle part of the island, he couldn’t even see what he was hitting, or possibly startling…. WC: 448 Actions: power up, beam ball, spirit ball |

“I have completed the tasks you’ve assigned me, Master,” #19 bowed towards the Turtle Hermit. Master Roshi looked up from his hammock as he sipped from the cocktail, “The car’s clean and you repainted the house?” The android nodded in response, “Yes, I completed both tasks. Although, I do have a question.” The martial arts master chuckled as he placed his hands behind his head. The swing swayed from side to side as a gentle breeze graced the tiny island. Roshi swallowed another gulp of his drink before continuing the conversation, “Go ahead.” “I am unsure how this technique that you had me practice would be applicable in combat; the one that you deemed the ‘wax on, wax off’--” “Oh! Well, you see, uh, that is something only true masters could understand,” Roshi waved the android’s question aside with his free hand, “Don’t worry about all those calculations that you’re always doing. You’ll see how good it can be when you get enough fighting experience.” “...I see.” “Anyways, why don’t you, um, go and...meditate somewhere?” “Meditation?” #19 deadpanned. “Yes, it’ll be good for ya. Uhm, why don’t cha go to that island over there?” Roshi pointed to the location in the distance, “Nobody’s there, so you’ll be able to meditate in peace. Why don’t you come back in like...three hours?” Android #19 bowed again, “Very well, Master,” he said before silently hovering away, turning to face the direction of his new destination. Picking up speed, he blasted off towards the heavily vegetated land mass. ----- Meditation was typically used by organics to improve their mind, and thus ideally beneficial from a philosophical point of view. That is, at least what his impression was. As he was built as a pure combat droid, there was admittedly some areas in his data base that was lacking. Android #19 had little information regarding that particular practice, nor much experience with it either. At first glance, this may seem like a waste of time, but maybe the Turtle Hermit knew more than he let on. Regardless, the master ordered the pupil, and the student obeyed. Finding a tiny clearing amidst the shrubbery, the pale, pudgy synthetic hesitated for a brief moment before sitting down and crossing his legs. What should he attempt to achieve first? Inner peace, perhaps? Maybe he could try to attain a higher level of “consciousness”, if that was possible. For arguably the first time since his activation, the android closed his eyes. The audio sensors picked up the shrill cries of the birds, the buzzing of the insects, the singing of the wildlife in the vicinity. Deactivating his built in scouter, #19 began to take in data--albeit, much more limited than what he was accustomed to. All in the name of trying something new. Within minutes, new results has been achieved. Specifically, #19 could now detect a small, periodic increase in temperature as he continued to sit there. The air rushed around him, as he began to experience something that was unexplainable in nature. Was this the true power of meditation? To see if vision did matter, the android tested by opening his eyes. He was just in time to see a flying energy sphere just milliseconds from impacting his face. ...oh. Smoke billowed through the trees, which swayed gracefully as grass and dirt flew into the sky. Small chunks of debris crashed down, scattering themselves throughout the area. From the small crater, Android #19 emerged from the thick column of burning plants. His in built scouter was now active again, and his soiled face glanced in the direction of the first significant measurement he obtained. Nonchalantly, he lightly walked towards the source. The bushes shook and their leaves scattered as the wide figure of #19 waded through them, materializing in front of a rather familiar figure. His scratched, soot covered gaze honed in on the young boy before him, “...you.” ----- Word Count: 653 #19 Word Count: 653 |

Herra suddenly felt the energy tethered to his hands dissipate. He clenched them once or twice as he pondered what had happened. He turned towards the dense vegetation, only to see a familiar shape shamble out into the open. “…You…” was the only word the being spoke. “You,” the prince repeated, recognizing the android as the same guy who tricked him into getting beat up the last time they met. He was pleased to see a large, murky blemish on the droid’s wide, white face that spread down over the whole half of his body, presumably offering a likely suggestion for what happened to his spirit ball. “What are you doing down here, now?” Herra asked, intending on keeping his distance from the droid. “I thought you made your get away pretty cleanly last time. Come to try your luck?” WC: 140/588 |

#19 narrowed his eyes. It was that boy again. Was history really this repeatable? During both times they had encountered each other so far, the first initial step was him sustaining some form of injury at the hands of the human. The lad had not changed much; his tone of voice was still as hostile. From first glance, the energy attack seemed to be on purpose and blatantly directed at the android. Whether that really was the case needed further evidence. Still, this behavior should not be encouraged. An outright confrontation would not solve anything, and serve to only worsen the situation. He would have to be subtle about this. Taking another few steps forward, the rotund droid kept his arms down, saying, “You pose an interesting question. I am here on Muten Roshi’s orders. And what are you doing here?” “Besides, is there a shred of evidence that suggests I have nothing better to do other than to stalk an adolescent human? You come here and swing an energy ball at my face, and you do not even apologize? Muten Roshi certainly knows how to pick his students. I will have a nice chat with him later--” The android suddenly paused before looking up into the sky, then moving his head around towards the left as he held his gaze on something particular in the distance, “Did you just see that?” he said, his eyes turning back towards the kid. When his two pupils had the human on target, Android #19 triggered a mechanism installed in his cranium for a quick, sneak attack. An invisible blast blasted right out of his eyes, rushing towards the boy and picking up all sorts of debris along with way. The dust and dirt rose up into the air, creating a small blanket of haze that quickly settled back down. “That certainly was a strong gust of wind,” the machine commented, satisfied with the results, “Well, I will be heading back now if you do not need anything else. See you around.” After finishing that last statement, #19 turned around and allowed his back to face the young lad. He kept up his guard, just in case something was to happen. Here it comes, Herra thought with a roll of his eyes. Another lecture about nothing. He stood impatiently, waiting for this oversized speak and spell to form its sentences. Um, the evidence is that you’re here. Duh. Didn’t know I needed to apologize to machines when they walk into my energy blasts at will. Is this guy ever going to get to the point? “Did you see that?” “See what?” the boy replied, letting his gaze follow the android’s lead. He scanned the horizon and the air for some time, not being able to sense or see anything odd. Then why did he want me to… The storm of dust and debris splashed over the prince like a tidal wave. The robot announced quite loudly how odd the storm was, and then declared his intent to remove himself from the area immediately. “Then why did Roshi send you here!?” the boy yelled after the departing android. “Just to see the weather?... Wait…” Slowly the boy caught on to the true nature of the storm. Sputtering, and shaking the sand from his hair he took to the sky, trying to pin down the mechanical man, but when he cleared the cloud, 19 was already too far away. WC: 206/794 |
