Trunks crouched low to the ground, and grabbed a hold of the warm red sand. The terrain on Vegeta deffinitely took some getting used to, but something inside of him felt so at home here. His Saiyan blood boiled with delight. He stood up, and rubbed his hands together as the velvety soft sand blew away in the wind. He took a deep inhale as he closed his eyes. He felt at home here. Even his tail wagged about happily like a pup begging for attention from its master.

He walked around for a bit, just taking in the beauty and the scenery, when he stumbled upon a space craft, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Now, his tail was going crazy. A feeling from within was hungry. Hungry for battle. It had been some time since his scuffle on Damaskia with Gohan, and his soul was aching for some action. He wasn’t even entirely sure if there was someone inside, or who it may even be. The spacecraft appeared to be from Earth, similar to one that he had previously owned. Trunks clicked his scouter, and it locked on to a fairly weak energy signature. A smile creaked slowly across Trunks’ face.

Something about the disguise he was wearing here on Vegeta made him feel stronger, more confident. With his new found powers and abilities, he wanted to at least stretch them out. He could feel a much more significant battle approaching, and a warm up might just be with the doctor ordered.

“Come out of that ship!” Trunks shouted to the stranger inside. This person was in for a real treat.

Trunks widened his stance a little bit, and in the blink of an eye raised his power level to its maximum heights. He considered using the next stage of his transformation, but decided it might be better saved for a little while, his base form at its max would most likely be proficient enough for the time being.

He pointed his energy repeater towards the sky and fired off a warning shot, trying to coax the opponent out of the space craft.

Minosha had sought refuge once more within the safety of his ship after a brief excursion to the outside world of Vegeta. He had kept his head down, but it was hard not to stick out like a sore thumb amongst a sea of large, black-haired brutes sporting armor and a patchwork of battle scars. Instead, he made himself a cup of hot chocolate and sneaked in a few large, fluffy marshmallows.

That’s when he heard it.

Quote:

“Come out of that ship!”

Something about the tone of that voice unsettled the Konatsu. It was rough, commanding... aggressive. As if that hadn’t been enough to catch his attention, the sound of coalescing energy hummed through the air, and a single shot fired off like a bottle rocket. He jumped up immediately, hand at his sword, face grim. Was he under attack? He waited a second, readying himself to react to an explosion, a hole being blasted in the side of his damaged vessel, an attempt to barge into his makeshift home, anything at all. But nothing came. His fingers loosened their grip on the sword as his hand dropped back to his side.

Cautiously, he glanced out one of the port windows, trying to deduce how many had come to make trouble. He could only see one. The voice coupled with the ki blast had been quite clear in their intention, but for some reason saw fit to hold off, to give him an opportunity to follow the insistent directions. Minosha didn’t see any other choice except to confront this stranger; he couldn’t risk losing what was left of a ship that wasn’t even his, and he knew for certain at this point that there was no hiding inside until whoever it was lost interest and simply left. He opened the hatch door, his demeanor as non-threatening as possible, and he slowly stepped down with both hands in clear view.

The little swordsman stopped a few feet from the intruder, a saiyan teenager by the looks of him. He was typical: black hair, short and spiky, armor. A tail flickered behind the boy, twitching with an excited eagerness that could only have been expressing what its owner felt: a thrill of battle. Minosha looked closer. Something was different about this one. His eyes... his eyes were not the same as the rest of them. They were glossed over with a lust for combat, yet they were... off, somehow.

Minosha noted the battle stance, making sure not to mimic such an obvious intention of engagement by simply putting his hands up as if in surrender.

“My name is Minosha,” he began. “I am a Konatsu. I crash-landed on your planet by accident because my ship’s computer is broken. I am not here to fight. I am waiting to go back to where I came from.”

The saiyan inched a foot forward ever so slightly, the rusty dirt scraping under his boot. Minosha flinched, his hand twitching towards his blade on impulse, but he stopped himself and moved it farther away instead. It didn’t matter; the saiyan caught the motion with incredible perceptiveness, and the smile on the strange boy’s face simply grew wider at the knowledge that he was getting exactly the reaction he sought.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” Minosha insisted. He put his other hand forward, fingers splayed out, a simple gesture he hoped would translate to this saiyan as “stop.” The Konatsu’s eyes rapidly flicked back and forth from the boy’s face to his tail. The tail twitched even faster now, signaling its master’s growing intent. Minosha shook his head. “Please... I only fight monsters.”

A strange alien with a pink mohawk had emerged from the ship, and cautiously made its way towards Trunks. The young Saiyan prince’s grin grew even wider. He had him now.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” the alien begged while holding up his hand, seeming asking for mercy. Trunks would show none on this day. His Saiyan blood was jumping for joy, being surrounded by its Saiyan heritage, and he was just itching for a fight. Trunks blocked out whatever verbage the alien spit out next, save for the word monster. That word stuck out to him.

Trunks’ eyes narrowed on his target. “Monster? I will show you a monster,” his words were cold and menacing as his hand slowly drifted towards his belt, where two shiny brand new kunai knives were clipped safely.

With a simple flick of his wrist, he shot one towards the alien, and then charged after it, leading with his right fist aimed directly for the alien’s face. He was going to get some exercise and test his foe at the same time.

Trunks was determined to show this guy what for, and what Saiyans were truly all about. The thrill of a fight. It flowed through his veins, and today, he was going to give in to some of its desires.

Minosha quickly realized his poor selection of words. He had meant to distinguish this boy from the scaly, nightmarish creatures on which he chose to use his blade. Instead, he had angered him. The saiyan’s eyes glowered at him, showing nothing but contempt and resentment for use of the word.

Quote:

“Monster? I will show you a monster.”

The teenager’s hand strayed to his belt, where Minosha noticed a pair of knife-like weapons. He knew he had lost control of the situation.

“Wait, I didn’t mean—!”

Too little, too late.

A kunai flew through the air at a speed to which Minosha could barely react. The young Konatsu slighted his body to one side, just in time to avoid the piercing of a major organ. He winced as the edge of the blade sliced a clean red line through his arm. Not in time to avoid the knife entirely. He reached up and clutched the wound, fresh ribbons of crimson blood spilling through his clenched fingers. As he turned back to square against his opponent, his turquoise eyes widened as his vision filled with a gloved, white fist careening towards his face. It connected with his soft, exposed cheek, and Minosha’s entire body wrenched violently to the right. Before he knew it, he was sailing through the air, and he bounced to a stop, his body landing in a twisted heap.

“That’s it?” the saiyan called over, mockingly.

Minosha’s face scrunched up in pain. He shuffled his arms to balance his weight on his palms, and then push himself up. For some strange reason, it required more effort than usual. His body felt heavy, like an elephant was sitting on top of him. Come to think of it, he had felt funny ever since he had landed. The gravity on this planet must have been greater than that of Earth, and he simply hadn’t been here long enough to grow accustomed to it.

He stood to his feet, and gingerly touched his face with his gloved fingertips. It stung on contact, a bruise already welling up beneath the surface of his ashen skin. He spat a mouthful of saliva, mixed with blood that spilled from a cut on the inside of his mouth.

He turned to face the strange boy, who had already resumed his fighting stance. The pain he had just inflicted... it hadn’t affected him at all. In fact, he looked happy that the Konatsu was wounded. Minosha couldn’t understand it. The way the saiyan teenager composed himself, the way he moved, the way he spoke, it was like he was an animal, yet clearly he was not except for that primate tail of his. Minosha fought to protect, to defend. This boy... this boy fought for the sheer love of it. To fight back was to indulge his demands, to feed the pleasure it gave him. Minosha wanted to say something more, attempt to reason with the teenager. What could he say? What words would soothe a savage heart? They had only served to enrage him, make things worse.

The Konatsu looked at the boy sadly, and reluctantly assumed a fighting stance. If he fought, the boy got what he wanted; if he didn’t fight, the boy would kill him. Either way, he lost. Without much of a choice, he had to pick which option left him alive.

“I don’t want to fight you, but I will defend myself,” Minosha announced.

His cheek throbbed, and his arm stung. He pushed down the pain, focusing his mind on the battle ahead. This wouldn’t be as simple as a roadside mugging, or an obnoxious jock bothering a college girl. He resolved to only use his fists; he didn’t want to kill or seriously injure the saiyan. Still, he felt completely vulnerable without it. The little swordsman wasn’t used to fighting without it.

Minosha sensed the saiyan was losing his patience. The teenager had been generous so far, waiting for the Konatsu to start fighting back. The pink-haired boy didn’t want to exhaust that charity before this encounter was through.

“At least tell me your name,” Minosha said.

“Kale,” the saiyan replied curtly.

Kale.

Even a beast could have a name, but somehow this made him a little less feral to Minosha, a little more of a teenager with a soul. A name, his strange eyes... Minosha wanted to believe there was something else beneath the surface.

“It’s nice to meet you Kale,” Minosha offered kindly, his voice gentle.

Then he steeled himself for what he was about to do. There was no more time to feel conflicted about it.

He ran forward as fast as he could under the gravity, charging his opponent. As soon as he got close enough, he tucked into a crouch and sprung up with a left uppercut, hoping to make contact with Kale’s chin. As he came up, he spun around, bringing up his leg and throwing his hip into a back spin kick that he aimed towards the saiyan’s gut. He landed a little wobbly on the opposite leg, not as smoothly as he’d hoped. He tried to regain his balance to finish his attack with an elbow to follow up the foot to the stomach attempt, and simply put as much concentration as possible to not only successfully land each blow but to show his opponent that he wasn’t ready to just lay down and die for this teenager’s joy fight.

A sly grin snaked its way across Trunks’ face. Much to his surprise, the pink mohawked alien had been implimenting some crafty moves of his own. He quickly attempted to dodge his kunai attack, and almost got away with it, save for the decent slice into his arm. He wasn’t quick enough, however to escape Trunks’ haymaker attempt, and was sent flying as a result.

Trunks was exhibiting some symptoms almost worthy of being called schizophrenic. On the one hand, he was still the wholesome, mostly all around good guy that was Trunks. He was used to being himself, and even enjoyed it. But ever since he had injected himself with his father’s blood in an attempt to totally wipe out his human side, a much more evil personality had been taking over. As of late, this personality was taking complete control in the form of Kale.

In order to truly blend in with his surroundings and to avoid arousing suspicion, he had to disguise himself as a whole nother person. It was already a confusing time for Trunks, at the age of seventeen he was finally starting to feel like a man. A man with real problems no less. He was even developing feelings for the girl in his squadron, Selade, something that he had never even had the opportunity to experience before. And Kale was a nice escape from reality, even if Selade as well as the rest of his Saiyan army squadron believed him to be Kale, at least for the time being.

This Kale was entirely different from Trunks’ normal personality. His Saiyan blood loved it, though. Kale was ruthless, courageous, and strong to the core, whereas Trunks had morals and decency to uphold. He found himself more and more willing to give in to Kale, and this situation was no different. Trunks would have decided to take it easy and slow with the kid, but Kale was about to show off the newly acquired strength that Trunks had attained.

Kale wanted to try out this new super form he had acquired, but luckily Trunks was able to stifle him to keep that from happening, he did not want to kill what seemed like a decent creature, he would have to show some restraint.

While he was fighting with himself in his mind, the alien had regained his own composure and approached Trunks. Minosha had indicated that he was coming in peace, so to speak, and asked Trunks his name, to which he had responded with ‘Kale.’ It was second nature to him now, he had no control over it. He was Kale, and Kale was him.

In a pure effort to protect himself, Minosha mounted a counter attack. The mohawked alien charged forward and then proceeded to leap with an uppercut, which whiffed through the air as Trunks bent backwards, Minosha’s fist coming within inches of Trunks’ face. Trunks could feel the air whiz by on his nose as the gloved hand stopped with control, and with a bit of acrobatic prowess, contorted his body into a kick that caught Trunks off guard, and connected with its target, the Saiyan prince’s stomach.

Trunks let out a slight gasp of air the blow hit its mark. It was a good move, Trunks had grown a bit of respect for this boy. The elbow that was coming was a little more obvious to Trunks, now that he wasn’t downplaying the aliens fighting technique, and with a movement of his left arm, managed to block the majority of the blow with his forearm.

Now it was Trunks’ turn to go on the offensive. He tried to grab hold of Minosha’ arm while it was still in range, and if he was successful, planned on flipping the alien over his back and slamming him into the ground. It was somewhat of a wrestling move that Trunks had remembered seeing as a small boy. Next, Trunks would fly upwards and fire off one of his favorite techniques, a series of small ki blasts known as the energy dans.

Using his scouter and depending on where Minosha would be at this point in time, Trunks would see how the alien boy would handle a more powerful attack. He placed his hands at his hip, and began charging energy, as tiny particles of ki began drawing together, forming a larger ball of energy in his cupped hands. When he had a good lock on Minosha’s position, Trunks would unleash a powerful energy wave, known to him as the Big Tree Cannon.

Minosha’s fist went up, up, up, and his knuckles scraped against empty air.

Miss! his mind registered.

He didn’t allow that to distract him; he wasn’t done yet. His next move – the tricky, contorted spin kick – rewarded him with the feeling of a soft, exposed belly beneath his boot, a weak point in the saiyan’s armor that sacrificed protection for mobility. His heart dared to soar at this small yet critical success.

Hit!

Unfortunately, his opponent had adapted to his movements with startling rapidity and picked up on what Minosha intended as a combo finisher. As his elbow moved in, he felt a firm forearm raise up like a shield to counter the hard, jutted point that aimed for that same spot. Before the Konatsu could pull back to safely regroup his strategy, Kale slipped his hand underneath Minosha’s armpit and locked it onto the shoulder to yank him closer. The saiyan then wrapped his other arm around Minosha’s neck with a reverse grip. The poor little swordsman had no idea how to escape from such a hold, so he could not have prevented what happened next. Kale lifted the pink-haired warrior up, using the chin as leverage, and flipped him head over heels and slammed him onto his back.

Minosha felt the breath leave his lungs as soon as his shoulder blades touched the cold, rocky ground. What kind of fighting style was that? Was it some kind of saiyan grapple move? He didn’t have much time to ponder it, nor even really much time to recover from the attack. As his eyes focused again after the dizzying spin, he noticed Kale had decided not to allow him the opportunity to compose himself this time.

The saiyan flew up in the air, hovering menacingly overhead. He drew one arm back, and though Minosha hadn’t yet completely deciphered the teenager’s fighting style, he knew what was coming. He knew because that was his attack... the energy dans. It was the very first concentrated energy attack he learned, his amateurish yet signature move. It was how he killed the monster in the cave on Earth, a mere few days ago that seemed like an eternity behind him now in this very moment. Minosha gritted his teeth; he had promised himself not to use his sword, but he had no other recourse. He knew in an instant he couldn’t get away in time. Rather than try to dodge, he sprang to his feet, and in the same fluid motion drew his blade. At the same time, the first bolt of ki loosed from Kale’s hand, followed by the second, and the third, until a shower of energy hailed down from the rusty skies above.

Minosha gripped the hilt firmly with one hand and placed the second hand farther down the blade itself, holding it before him like a baseball player at the plate would hold a bat to bunt off a pitch. The first ki blast hit the polished surface of the metal and bounced off as if it were a mere ray of light. Minosha continued, moving the weapon as necessary to deflect each energy dan. In this manner, he could also use Kale’s own attack against him. The Konatsu purposefully angled the blade so that the richochets would hit the ground, exploding on contact and sending up a spray of dirt and disintegrated rock. The dust whipped into puffy clouds, effectively obscuring the pink-haired boy from view. Each blast became less and less accurate. Still, even a pot-shot could be devastating. A blast that strayed a little too far to the right caught Minosha on the wrist, and his hand unwillingly released the hilt when the nerves went crazy from the impact. The sword went spinning off into directions unknown, and Minosha couldn’t help but cry out, as if a trusty friend had fallen in battle. He hissed in pain as a few of the blasts found their mark, pelting him repeatedly on the shoulder, thigh, and chest. Finally, the energy dans stopped altogether.

He stood at the ready, his newly inflicted wounds notwithstanding. Despite not completely evading the attack, they were on equal grounds now; the Konatsu could not see the saiyan and the saiyan could not see the Konatsu. At least this way, Minosha had a chance at mounting another offensive.

Unbeknownst to him, however, the saiyan teenager was not as blind as the boy assumed. In the haze of the smoke, a beacon of brilliant light caught Minosha’s attention. Kale was gathering his power for an attack. The Konatsu quietly shuffled to the side, but the light followed him. He tried to zig-zag instead, and again, the light glared at him in perfect sync to his movements.

How? Minosha wondered frantically.

An unnatural wind whipped up, blowing away the smokescreen. In the center of the small cyclone was Kale, a triumphant smirk on his face. It was then that Minosha finally realized the purpose of that strange machine hooked up to the teenager’s ear: it could find him no matter where he was. Kale had bought just enough time for himself. Minosha couldn’t dodge, couldn’t block. His only choice was to take the attack, head on, just the way the saiyan wanted.

“No...” Minosha whispered.

His turquoise eyes widened. The beam came at him, steady and strong, consuming the world in its golden glow. Then it hit him, and everything went numb. The flash blinded him; he could no longer feel, and he could no longer see. An eternity passed. Then again, maybe it was just a few seconds, stretched out by the mere relativity of time.

Somehow, when the dust settled, he was still standing. Strange... shouldn’t it have killed him? Had the saiyan mercifully pulled back the brunt of his power at the last second? His skin was scorched; his now tattered clothes smoldered. Strangled, guttural gasps stammered from his throat. His chest felt tight, like he couldn’t breath. He desperately wanted for the sensation of something, anything. Minosha stared dumbly at the saiyan, his brain robbed of coherent thought.

Then he fell backwards, no longer able to hold himself up by his own strength. His muscles twitched in spasms; were it not for those tiny signs of life, one might wonder if the Konatsu were even still alive.

His eyes focused on the sky, looking without really seeing. He had been revived from his intended eternal slumber for such a short time, and he had chosen to go to Earth. Without recognizing it until now, he had been in the shallow end, wading around with the guppies. Here he was now, in the deep end, a little fishy swimming with a shark, and his blood baited the waters.

Suddenly, Kale’s face popped into view, obscuring the Vegetan atmosphere. Funny, Minosha had not even heard him approach. Disappointment scrawled all over the saiyan’s expression, and the teenager nudged the Konatsu’s limp body with the toe of his boot in annoyance. The contact somehow served to jumpstart Minosha’s nervous system, and he regained a bit of feeling and control.

Minosha stared at the saiyan. Why did those eyes trouble him so? What was it about them?

And without even thinking about it first, the answer came quietly from his lips.

“Human eyes,” Minosha whispered.

Kale’s face turned cold, as dark and bitter as it was when he thought the little swordsman had called him a monster. “What did you say?” he snarled.

“Your eyes. They’re like... human eyes,” Minosha said softly.

That was it. That’s what had seemed so different. He had seen enough of the Earthlings to know. The hair, the tail, the armor, and unknowingly to the Konatsu, even the blood... they were all saiyan, pure as driven snow. But eyes did not lie. In that brief moment, the curtain pulled back just a little bit to reveal what hid behind it. Minosha realized, without fully comprehending how he did, that Kale was in more pain in his mind than the Konatsu currently felt in his body.

Kale prepared to do something horrible in retaliation. Minosha had done it again. In his daze, without intending to, he had further provoked the animal that Kale so insistently depicted himself to be.

He didn’t know how he did what he did next. Some deep, untapped reservoir of will and determination fueled his motions, or perhaps some energy left that had thus far remained unused. Like a robot, Minosha’s hand automatically raised up, his palm so close to Kale’s face the saiyan could smell the singed leather of his gloves. He pulled together a hasty collection of energy, preparing to blast the saiyan point blank with ki. He had no idea if it would have any effect, or even if he could pull it off without it being countered, but it was his best shot. It was a tricky move. Then again, Minosha was still a child, and trickery was something of a forte for mischievous little minds.

Beyond that, his subconscious formulated a plan. Once Minosha had concluded his opening move with either success or failure, he would try to get up off the ground, lace his hands together, and attempt to strike a blow to the saiyan’s chest to knock the wind from him if it hadn’t been already. Then, to finish it off, he would do a quick karate chop to the back of Kale’s neck, which he hoped would stun him long enough to catch his breath and think of a new plan.

And so he began.

And the fight is going amazingly well, folks! Very good effort on each side!

On one side, we have the powerful Saiyan warrior, Trunks, currently torn by his heritage and his Earthly moral values. Even as his bloodlust boils to the surface, some small part of his spirit still tries desperately to keep it in check!

On the other side, we have the estranged and lost warrior, Minosha, and while he himself is at a severe disadvantage, he is still going as strong as he can against his Saiyan opponent. Even as death looms closer, Minosha somehow finds the will to keep going!

A really hard call to make, but this robotic judge will have to award fifteen silver points to Minosha for this round. Keep it up, battlers!

Trunks was surprised with the way Minosha had been handling himself this whole fight. The kid was resiliant, he had to give him that. A combination of superior power and battle proficiency let Trunks believe that he still had the upper hand, regardless of the raw emotion that the child alien had been fighting with. Deep down, underneath the exterior guise of Kale, Trunks felt empathetic for the kid, and even liked him to an extent. This was not to be confused with letting up on his assault, however. Kale still had complete control over that aspect of his emotions.

Back to how resilient the child was though, as he took each one of Trunks’ attacks, still managed to fight through through the pain, and was once again back on the offensive. Showing a surprising amount of speed, Trunks could barely react. One second there was nothing, the very next, a gloved hand was shoved right in his face, with only enough time to gasp as a fairly weak ki blast exploded right in his facial expression, mouth agape. His eyes were slightly blinded by the sudden flash of ki, which was about the extent to the damage it had caused besides a stinging sensation throbbed over his skull.

This had bought the young alien enough time to continue with a combination of sorts. Trunks was still unable to see, although his vision was returning, but could feel a sharp thrust of fists to his chest. He doubled over, his armor luckily keeping him from having the wind knocked out of him. Which was lucky, seeing as the pesky alien child was still not done with his attack sequence. Trunks quickly turned his neck to face his opponent, and in just enough time to see the chop coming down on him.

Reacting quickly, Trunks closed his right fist, spun the rest of his body around, and using his spin action as momentum, attempted to drive his fist into Minosha’ chest plate, hoping to push him backwards enough to create a bit of seperation. Almost like a reflex, his hand next went instinctively went to his belt, his wrist twitched, and his second kunai knife went soaring through the air towards where Mino was hopefully floating.

All of this just an attempt to create some distance, as well as a bit of time, for Trunks to catch his breath. The child was putting up quite the fight.

The Gromble
Minosha’s attack caught Kale by surprise, as intended. It allowed him the opportunity to force himself to stand, and he continued to carry out his planned attack. He laced his tiny fingers together, forming a large – or rather, adult-sized – fist, cranked it back, and swung it forward mightily. The Konatsu scored a direct hit to the chest, causing his opponent to double over. Now for the finishing touch. He unlatched his hands and straightened one out into a rigid blade of flesh and bone, reached back, and thrust it forth, aiming for Kale’s exposed neck. Something had gone out of clockwork, however. Kale turned his head to face Minosha, and reacted to the incoming blow accordingly. It was far too late for the Konatsu to call off his attack now, and so he had no choice but to take the fist that barreled directly towards his wide-open chest. As the knuckles connected square with his sternum, he felt himself being propelled backwards by the force.

Somehow, he managed to stay upright as his boots skidded through the dirt. Despite the pain, Minosha noticed a new motion of Kale’s arm, and the glint of light off a metal surface gave away the saiyan’s objective. Were it not for the fact that Minosha had seen this move before, things might have ended quite badly. In pure reflex, he reached up his hand in time with the movement of the knife, and his gloved fingers closed around the edges of the blade to catch it just before it reached his head. At that same moment, his body finally slowed to a stop. Minosha stared at the tip of the kunai, which had been mere inches away from piercing his skull. He flicked the knife around in the air to grab it by the handle, and flung it away where it embedded itself in the ground point-side down.

Minosha stared at Kale, waiting for something else, wondering if that attack had been a mere distraction for another, more powerful energy assault. But no. The saiyan teenager had gotten to his feet and was just... standing there. Was he expecting Minosha to make the first move in the next exchange? Was he taking his time, drawing out the torment? By the slight elevation in his rate of breathing, Minosha guessed it was also likely that Kale was just trying to catch his breath after the last attack.

The little swordsman looked on, somewhat in dismay. Kale didn’t seem hurt in the slightest bit. Minosha was glad; he didn’t want to cause any serious injury. At the same time, however, it undeniably informed him just how far he was out of his depth. His best, most cleverest attack so far, an energy blast at the closest range you could possibly get, was no more than an annoyance to this boy. Each physical strike only bought him enough time to perform the next one, and hadn’t caused any real damage at all.

Minosha took advantage of the reprieve as well. He tore off a piece of his clothing and wrapped it tightly around his still-bleeding arm, putting pressure on the wound and staunching the flow of blood. Using his teeth to help with the knot, he secured the makeshift bandage. His adrenaline helped keep some of the pain at bay, but he still had to be careful not to push it too hard lest he risk tearing the wound even further.

Still, Kale did not advance.

Was he letting him go?

Minosha cautiously made a step towards his ship, and Kale instantly mirrored the movement.

No, the battle would still continue.

They stared each other down. The teenager’s tail began to flicker again, much to the Konatsu’s annoyance.

“We don’t have to do this,” Minosha called out. “We can be friends.”

Flicker, flicker, flicker.

A thought occurred to the Konatsu, a hope, a blind leap of faith.

“Is that it?” Minosha asked, nodding to the furry brown appendage. “Is that what makes you want to fight so badly? You’re not a monster. Is that what makes you believe you are?”

Minosha knew what he had to do. He would save this boy, and end this. He surveyed the landscape, and his eyes picked out the kunai. No, not what he was looking for. With a little more effort, he spied his sword, half-covered in rusty red soil. It rested a few feet from where Kale stood; the Konatsu could not just run and grab it without his intentions being known. He hastily developed a plan. It was a gamble, but a chance he had to take. He couldn’t die now, not when he was needed, not when he could still help. This fight was now a matter of personal obligation; he had to uphold the title bestowed upon him so long ago of legendary hero.

The Konatsu was still so naïve.

A strange, new-found strength swelled within him, seemingly coming from nowhere. A yell rumbled from low in his throat, his boyish tone deepening as much as it could go for the child. As he howled, he summoned his power, gathering energy into his palms. With purpose, he thrust his arms forward and let his ki spew forth from his hands. A series of rapid blasts headed towards Kale’s position, where it would hopefully engulf the area in a flash of light and smoke. Minosha didn’t know if the attack was successful or not, but he could already see his next movement in his mind. He desperately dashed towards his sword, and he would not stop until he felt the hilt in his hand. Gripping the sword with both hands, Minosha planned to charge at wherever he thought Kale would be. He would bring the sword overhead, leap into the air, and when he came down, he would aim straight for the base of that beastly tail and intended to slice it clean off.

And as he did so, he would cry out valiantly, “I WILL SET YOU FREE!”

Gross...
The alien warrior, Minosha, had taken Trunks’ moment of rest to his own advantage, and release a large barrage of ki blast attacks at him. Many of the blasts had hit the ground around him, causing a bit of dust to kick up, blocking Trunks’ view. Before Trunks could use his scouter once more to locate the alien swordsman, Minosha had made his next attack.

Trunks’ eyes shot wide open, his pupils had dilated leaving just tiny specks of black in the center of large white eyeballs. A shockwave of pain had been sent through his body, paralyzing him for a brief moment. The dust had cleared, and the alien was now behind him, his sword outstretched having just completed his slashing attack. Trunks gasped for air a few times, and reached behind him towards the source of the pain.

He pulled his hand back in front of his face, only to see it stained crimson with blood. His neck slowly craned around and he witnessed in horror. His tail now lay on the soft Vegetian sand, writhing around like a worm that had been cut in half. His fucking tail was no longer connected to his body!

Trunks was unable to think anymore. His voice trembled as the breaths quickly rose and fell inside of his lungs. His eyes began to well up with tears. With a loud scream, he had powered up past his maximum power level, a bold golden aura had surrounded him as his eyes had changed color from black to a somewhat greenish color. He had transformed once again to his near Super Saiyan state.

His body was now moving on fluent motions alone. He had disappeared, only to reappear right behind the alien, both of his fists outstretched in a double hammer blow with full force and momentum aimed right for the mid section of the alien’s spinal cord.

He would disappear once again and reappear in front of alien, no matter what had happened after his initial attack, with his right leg now outstretched in some kind of uppercut kicking attack.

Next, Trunks threw his right hand forward, charging ki into it as he did so. He manipulated the ki to temperatures ranging far below freezing, and shot an icy blast towards the pink haired alien. Before he knew it, his left hand had launched forward to meet his right, and once again he began powering up energy. He was breathing heavily like some sort of blood thirsty maniac as the energy caused a yellow glow to reflect off his face.

Just before Trunks was about to fire off his next Big Tree Cannon and hopefully end this alien, a thought had crossed his mind. A softer, more merciful feeling came over Trunks. After all, Trunks had been the one to initiate the bout, and the alien was just defending itself. He pulled back at the last moment, still firing off the massive energy wave, but took enough off of it to as not totally annihiliate his opponent.

The Gromble
Minosha landed in a crouch, face grim, blade held rigid. He had done it. He had watched the edge of his sword bite into the tail and emerge cleanly through the other side, severing the appendage from Kale’s body. Now it was over; the animal within the boy was slain.

Then, Minosha heard Kale’s breathing. It was ragged, desperate... angry. Kale screamed, a sound filled with immense agony and rage.

The Konatsu stood up and whirled around, awed by what he saw. A bright golden aura surrounded the saiyan teenager, power that radiated thickly through the air. Minosha’s eyes dilated in shock, the turquoise color nearly lost in a sea of white. A burst of invisible force hit him, forcing the child to brace himself with his arm. Minosha could only bear witness to this monstrous power, and he soon realized his mistake. What terrible wrath had his actions invoked? He had sought to release the saiyan from his violent cravings; instead, he had perhaps unleashed something far more frightening than he had ever before seen.

In the blink of an eye, Kale vanished. Before Minosha could even think to react, he felt ten knuckles slam into the square middle of his back. It sent a nervous jolt of pain throughout his entire body, causing an involuntary spasm. Without any control, he lurched forward, on the verge of collapsing into the ground face-first. He wouldn’t be allowed that chance. Kale’s leg materialized in front of him in a flash, and the saiyan’s foot drove into Minosha’s stomach. The Konatsu’s mouth was forced open by the rush of air that vacated his lungs, and splatters of saliva sprayed out from his lips. He was falling again, but backwards this time, into the sky, and the now-hazy earth below became smaller and smaller.

A blast of ki surged upward to follow him, and somewhere in the back of his mind, Minosha vaguely remembered that his sword was somehow still clutched in his hand. A shower of ice ascended upon him, and with nothing more than pure reflex, Minosha spun the blade like a whirling fan to disperse the elementally-charged attack. Ice crystals formed like flowers on the metal surface and the fingers of his gloves, and the air around him dropped to an unbelievable chill.

And that wasn’t even the end.

Kale had been holding back the entire time. He stood on the ground below, ribbons of yellow energy licking at his positioned frame. A pinprick of light grew between a connection of palms, an orb of deadly power.

Minosha saw it, and did nothing. He had nothing left. His eyelids drooped heavily over his vision, partly obscuring his blurry view of the world around him. All he could see was the light, the golden beacon of his folly that signaled his impending doom.

Was this it? Was this how it ended?

What part of his consciousness that was left recollected his dream, the nightmare of death. It was happening a little differently, but it was happening nonetheless.

The Konatsu’s ascension reached its apex, and his limp body began to descend. At the same time, the energy wave barreled towards him hungrily, waiting to consume his mortal body. He tumbled helplessly towards it, almost as if he were running to meet his fate. Just as the bright yellow ki filled every last inch of his sight, just before his skin met the hot wave of force, the lights within him... went out.

AND HE'S DOWN! Wonderful battle, participants! Minosha has been knocked out, giving Trunks the victory! Remember, as this is a training battle, no time is needed to recover from wounds or anything like that. Absolutely amazing effort all around!
