Three trials, then she'd be accepted into The Order Of Saljuk. Aimee Matsuyama stood by the edge of the forest at the entrance--the same one that countless locals had used to venture deep into the heart of the Forest Of Illusion. "Once you enter, you understand that you will be on your own. There will be no turning back." "I understand and accept the risks." Aimee's kanassian friend, and guide, took in a deep breath and sighed. "You are one of the few who have received the priviledge to join our order." Ajesh smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I believe in you, friend. You have a strong heart and the will to succeed. But you will be unable to sense your way out. You'll have to rely on your recent training. Ready to take your first step for your first trial?" received "Yes." Ajesh closed his eyes for a moment and nodded. He then stepped into the forest and began the trek deep into the heart of where he would lead her. She followed. Silence pervaded between them except for the sounds of the night. "From here on out I'll be communicating with you telepathically." "Understood," Aimee replied, telepathically. Soon their path narrowed and the forest closed in on them. It wasn't long before the path disappeared and no particular path could be seen. Mental images filled Aimee's mind as if they were her own thoughts. A movie flashed in her mind's eye, from Ajesh, giving her further instructions on what to do. When it ended, she realized it was day time and that time had progressed in what seemed like seconds. Her guide was gone and she was no longer in the location she had previously found herself in. The girl looked to her left, then to her right. Her eyes darted off to various points in her surroundings as she tried to come to a grip of her reality. She found it confusing, to say the very least. Aimee calmed her mind and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath and listened to the sounds of her surroundings. It was very quiet amid the wilderness of Kanassa. 'Ajesh. Can you hear me?' She thought, looking for an answer. Nothing. Aimee thought long and hard as to what the point of all of this was. First, she was out in a forest, in the middle of nowhere, after she had a delusion of being led there. The delusion instantly gave way from a scene of night to the scene of day and loneliness. Second, she was on a trial, a trial to get back home. Mental images of the rules and regulations suddenly flooded her mind. It was as if she had remembered the information due to the fact it had entered her mind. She made a mental note of this. Suddenly she knew what she was here and what this was all about. This was all part of a series of trials. Ja'vei who tells you that only those who complete the three trials may study there. There would be there trials---the first being the "Trial of Patience," The second "Trial of Wisdom" and the third being the "Trial of Courage". If she was to become a student, she needed to pass all these trials. Yet, no requirements were given to Aimee regarding her first trial. She had just been thrown into it with no reference to anything. The Trial Of Patience. How long would she have to be patient? Aimee sighed and sat down on the ground. She crossed her legs as well as her arms. Her eyes remained closed. "Patience, huh. Ok then." Time passed and Aimee found this whole ordeal to be very boring. And boredom as beginning to set in quickly. Six hours had passed and nothing had happened. Doubts surfaced in her mind that encouraged her to just give up and say "fuck it" to this whole trial thing. "No, I won't give up so easily. This trial must be worth it. I'm determined to become part of this order. It is not only for my sake but also for the sake of those I need to protect and serve." A long time had passed since Aimee began her first trial. If it hadn't been for her burning resolve to succeed, she may have never obtained the patience she needed to past the first test. And pass the first trial she did. ....Many months later that is.... ......her time in seclusion isolated her from society; She began to lose herself in this new reality and forget who she was, her ideals, her strong resolve, and determination to serve justice and protect others. The Trial Of Patience had taken its toll. Finally! After these many months, Aimee, during her time of meditation in the Kanassian wilderness, received mental imagery of what appeared to be instructions. They played out in her mind as if they were her own thoughts. These embedded thoughts instantly became her own and instructed her to seek out her innermost being. "My innermost being? What are you talking about?" She asked, wondering. "Seek out your innermost being. Remember who you are. Reflect and ponder upon this test of wisdom," the thoughts replied, silently. Aimee continued to tune in for more instructions and answers but found nothing further. She gritted her teeth in frustration and tightened her palms into fists. "Will this be another couple of months? How long do these trials have to last for!" She then calmed herself down, remembering that she had JUST passed the Trial Of Patience. Aimee cleared her mind. ....Patience. Wisdom. What was the connection with this second trial with the last one. She gave it some thought and relented her frustration into submission to her new reality. She then smiled. "I'll give it some thought tomorrow. I think I'll sleep on it for now then worry about this new trial tomorrow. I need to clear my mind and relax." Aimee then dozed off for the rest of the afternoon. ------- Aimee awoke to the sound of nothing once more. Silence. Nothing but silence in the kanassian Forest Of Illusion. Except she was in an open grassy field with trees surrounding her. And some gigantic boulders to her side that acted as part of a base to a small mountainous hill. Not really a mountain though. She was on the ground and opened her eyes. Her eyes revealed the sky to her. "The trial of wisdom," Aimee thought silently to herself. She pondered about it for a moment. Her mind began to piece together thoughts about how wisdom was connected to her. Did it have to do with her training the the Yardrat Eldar? Then an idea sparked in her head. After all these months of patiently awaiting an outcome for the first trial, the had forgotten about the purpose of the trial. She had been caught up too much in the first trial itself and swept up with completing it that she had forgotten about what Ajesh had told her. Find your way out, he had said.
The memory hit her like a ton of bricks. It was as if she had opened a safe full of documents that she had long forgotten about. It all came back to her. The instructions Ajesh gave her. About what to do. About her mission. About everything. It was all starting to make sense. The trial about patience had to do with testing her newly trained telepathic mind. This next trial had to do with the wisdom gained from her training and applying it to finding her way out. But it had to be much more difficult than that. She was in the middle of somewhere, somewhere she was not familiar with. And it was not only that. She also was commanded not to rely on her ability to use ki and techniques that harnessed that power. Her only option was to trust in her telepathic abilities. But where to begin? Aimee closed her eyes and cleared her mind of all thoughts. She sat down crossed legged on the ground and began to think of of some ideas. WC: 663 |

Aimee focused her mind on her surroundings. An idea hit her. First of all, this was called The Forest Of Illusion. When she had entered it, her surroundings had been different. She entered the forest during the night time, and when she did, it wasn't anywhere near the location she was in. Then suddenly she had missing time and couldn't account for her being in the location she was currently in. However, with all these months passed, it all seemed real. Yet, strangely enough, she hadn't survived by eating animals or meat proteins but by surviving on veggetation. And drinking water. The idea popped in her head. That idea was that she was living in an illusion. None of this was real. And she even questioned her reality and wondered if it was a distortion. She focused her mind on Ajesh and attempted to mend her mind to his. Create a connection. She patiently waited for it. Then it happened. "Congratulations. You passed the second trial. Now, you must pass the final test. The Test Of Courage. Do you have what it takes to pass?" "Yes, I do," Aimee replied, telepathically within the confines of her mind. Her thoughts spoke for her. Then foreign thoughts were in her mind again. "Now, you must find your way out. Do not be afraid. For if you can find your way out, the final test shall become clear. Do you have what it takes? Are you ready?" "Yes," She nodded, silently. "Now open your eyes. Everything will soon become clear." Aimee opened her eyes and the world before her began to change. She found herself in a different setting. The forest was different. She recognized it. It was the same forest that Ajesh had led her into. It was the same forest she had ventured into without his help. She slightly recognized her surroundings, but yet she felt like she didn't. Now she had to find her way out. And then a final challenge awaited her. Aimee took a deep breath and stretched. She would do this. She would find her way out. Conclusion To This Quest: Long story short. Aimee eventually found her way out of the forest. Awaiting her was a figure. That figure was The Count Of Greyfa. That was the challenge she had to face. They battled, and he was exactly as she had remembered him. Aimee ultimately defeated him after a decisive battle that lasted for a few hours. A few hours of close-combat fighting; A few hours of long-ranged ki fighting. It didn't matter except that she prevailed. Then she found out it was an illusion as well. Aimee passed the trial. She demonstrated patience, wisdom, and the ability to overcome difficult obstacles. She was ready to join the Order. WC: 463 TWC: 1832 |
