Chapter: Ja'Vel leads Aimee down to begin the trial

"Follow me."

"Where are we going?"

"To your next challenge."

Ja'vel smiled and signaled for his student to follow him. He waved his hand, then directing his fingers towards him, signalled for her to come. She stepped over to him and did as he had asked. He then took the first steps towards the next challenge. Ja'vel led her through the temple corridors and led her to a stone staircase that led to somewhere below. Below the staircase was a dark corridor. He opened his palm and produced a ball of ki. He aimed it at the torches on the wall of the hallway and lit them. They became alive and the fires danced with joy as life was breathed into them. Now the hallway was lit. Aimee stepped down into the formerly dark corridor and followed her teacher.

The corridor was long and narrow. About ten feet high and wide enough for three people to stand side-by-side and walk down through it. They continued for some time. About five minutes. Then they reached the end, where there was a left turn. The turn u-turned its way to another staircase that led below. Ja'vel lit the corridors down there as well and they walked down the staircase.

They came to another corridor. More walking. More staircases. Aimee was wondering when it would all end.

"How long till we get to where we need to go?" Asked the young feminine warrior.

"Patience, my student. They don't call this the 'Halls Of Patience' for nothing. Soon you will begin your final and most difficult trial."

Aimee chose to keep her mouth shut and do just as her mentor wanted from her---be patient. They continued through corridors, and more staircases. It seemed to drag on forever. The dimly lit corridors---for only the torches provided the light guiding their way---all seemed the same. The corridors resembled something out of a medieval castle. It was as if Ja'Vel was leading Aimee down some kind of secret passage way from which they found the secret entrance through a bookshelf or something. Corridor to possibly a dungeon or something. It was eerie. Eventually they went down unique looking corridor. It had strange shapes and arcane designs engraved in its walls. Aimee had a careful look and noted their patterns. She reached out to touch them and pondered their purpose.

"What are these designs for? Is this some kind of language?" Asked Aimee as she stood there, a few final steps from the bottom of the stone staircase.

Ja'vel reached the end of the staircase and looked back at Aimee. He turned around to look at the patterns, then at her.

"Ancient dialect of my people. This temple has been around for a long time. It means you have reached the end of the tunnel and will now begin the trial. Here, let me have a look."

Ja'Vel walked a few steps up the staircase and had a closer look at the patterns. He reached out with his hand and pointed at the first characters.

"See here. This script translates as "This marks 0. From here is only infinity." What that translates to is that "Your journey begins here. From here on out if infinite possibilities." It is implying that one your begin this trial, you will be tested and from here on out the sky is the limit for you if you desire, or beyond. In other words, it is praising constant training and improving upon ones self. Kanassian thinking. Hmmmm."

Chapter: Forced through a Gauntlet

"Now you must go through a Gauntlet. You must use your telekinetic powers to disable traps and make your way through some of the Temple's strongest warriors. At the end of the gauntelt you face the Steel Cobra, a monstrosity created out of rings of blades and scythes. It is controlled by a group of sages who are telepathically melded."

Aimee blinked. "Some of the temple's strongest warriors, huh. Are they as strong as I?"

Ja'vel waved, closed his eyes, and shook his head. "They are strong. Don't underestimate them."

Aimee closed her eyes and cleared her mind. She scouted for the power levels of any strong warriors in the area and found none.

"Don't bother. They can hide their true power just like you can. Now, Aimee. Do you feel you are ready to begin?"

"Yeah."

"Good. So, make your way into the gauntlet."

Aimee looked ahead. It was dark.

Ja'Vel snapped out of his daze. "My mistake. Dark corridors. HAHAHAH. Okay." He waved his hand and the room became well lit. The torches in the room lit up and Aimee could see a gigantic passage way with a door at the entrance.

"When you are ready, use your telepathic powers to open the door."

Aimee used her mind to pull open the door. She watched as both the doors burst wide open. She grinned. She then rose into the air by a few inches and hovered over to the door, then landed on the ground. She touched down on the stone pavement gently and looked ahead through the tunnel.

"Go in."

Aimee took a few steps, but when she did the doors closed in on her! She looked back and pondered the idea of forcing the doors back open, but then she knew that would defeat the point of the trial. The point of the trial was to go forward, not backward. The dark tunnel she was in suddenly lit up. Now she could see what was before her. It was empty. Nothing could be seen, but she knew better. She had been told that she would have to make her way through traps and use telekinetic powers to disable them. As a precaution, she would have to unleash her full power in case any of the traps were to wound her. She couldn't let herself fall prey to something unexpected and die as a result of it because she let her power be suppressed to a really weak level.

Aimee clenched her right fist and kept it at her side. She unrestrained the locks on her power and raised it, slowly, to the seventy-five percent mark. Seventy-five percent of her maximum. Her pink hair suddenly became blue. No other change could be seen other than that.

Chapter: The traps

Aimee took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She cleared her mind, then opened them.

Alright. Time to get through these traps. Let's see what kind of traps I am dealing with, Aimee thought. She forced four beam balls in her left palm and grabbed one of them with her right hand(2%). She then tossed them, one by one, across the long stone-walled corridor. They lobbed through the air and landed on the ground at various spots, exploding on contact with the ground. Chunks of stone were flung from the blast point into the air in different directions. A small blast crater was left where she had lobbed the beam balls.

No traps were detected from that initial test. No traps were activated from lobbing the beam balls. Nothing was activated passing the corridor through the air, and nothing was activated once the balls hit the ground on various spots. Aimee pressed her lips together hard and pondered.

Okay. Nothing so far. Now to see if there are any strange markings on the ground or the corridor. Aimee looked around the corridor and saw nothing. She took note of it and decided to rise herself above the ground.

'Man, one of these stones I step on could be a trap, or a stone that could active one. If I just keep lobbing beam balls through the air, maybe I can see what kind of traps are in store for me.'

Aimee floated through the air to where she had seen her further beam ball lob to. It has lobbed to about half way through the corridor. She formed another beam ball in her hand and lobbed it to the end of the corridor. As it was about to slam into the end of the corridor, suddenly the sides of the wall collided with one another, crushing the beam ball and setting off an explosion.

"I expected something. Such a simple trap." Aimee watched as the walls relented and slowly moved back into position. She burst forward as fast as she could and moved past their reach to the other side. Then she took a left and found herself at another long corridor. It looked just like the other one.

"Another corridor? Hmmm."

Aimee aimed her right index finger at the end of the corridor and fired of a sunken. As it traveled through the air, a number of traps were set off. Spears protruded from the walls. Some of the walls even moved and attempted to crush the mesposo. Flames were produced from other parts of the wall. Aimee waited for them too to nearly relent their attacks before she moved forward. She moved so fast that she left an after image behind from where she stood and reached the other side in a mere moment. From there on out she moved into the other room.

Chapter: The Warriors

Aimee arrived into a large room. It was very large! Like a cavern. Aimee took note of how big it was the the many obstacles in it. One figure stood at the far end from where she stood.

"You have arrived to where the great battle that your hear will lie. Can you defeat your fear, you find out, something to do, you will soon be duking it out." Suddenly the figure changed into someone Aimee knew. Her heart began to beat in anticipate of what was about to happen. Before her stood two figures. Lionel, The Fast; And The Count.

The Count looked around and smiled. He stretched his arms out and yawned. "Look at this place! So empty. So plain."

"What do you mean, my lord?" Asked Ridigar?

"Well, it needs to be painted red. Perhaps that girl can help us."

"That girl?" Ridigar then looked at Aimee. He grinned. "She looked familiar. Yes, yes. I remember her. I found her before back on the Island Of Greyfa."

"Who cares. Just finish her off. I want my place painted asap."

Rigidar reached for his side and unsheathed his barton. He swung it out and brought it before him. It then began to cackle with electricity swirling around it.

Aimee dropped into a guard and quickly tried to sense out their power. She couldn't get a clear reading on either of them. She suspected this was all part of the trial that Ja'Vel had told her around. Both of them possibly weren't real. In fact, she didn't believe they were. Like the previous times on Kanassa-sei, figments of her imagination were brought to life as part of some trial she faced. It was a "person-vs-self" scenario. And this was that kind of scenario.

"I know this isn't real. This is all part of my imagination. I'm not scared of either of you."

The Count laughed. "Cute. Very cute. Fear is a relative thing."

Rigidar swung his batton. The electricity that danced along the barton also struck the air. He then brought the blade before him and charged at Aimee into some kind of rush attack. Aimee darted to the side and didn't wait for her assailant to slash that barton at her. She then moved so fast that she left an after image behind her in which Ridigar slashed his weapon through. She then bounced back and came at him from the side, dealing a jab to his head. The blow knocked him back and sent him flying across the cavern. Aimee pursued him and, after getting to a position above him, knocked him to the ground with a hammer blow. She then cupped her hands together and charged up ki into her palms as he was regaining his composure. She then pushed her palms out and released the full power of her super kamehameha blast.

She then released her palms and jumped back and slid along the ground as she came to a halt. She observed the aftermath of her attack and glanced over at The Count who was watching it all unfold. The Count began to laugh.

"What an attack! You really have improved since last time we met. I don't recall you being able to do that! Allow me to put you to the test, Matsuyama Aimee." The Count then unsheathed his blade from within his cloak and brought it to a position so that he held it before him.

"I don't recall that we ever had a duel before. Or a bout. I remember fighting your friend, Raiosu Kirishi, but not you. Let's see how well you can do. Come. Come at me."

Aimee looked at Rigidar, who lay motionless on the ground. His body was not moving and steam was rising up from his body. She then looked back at The Count. She knew none of this was real, but it looked so real nonetheless.

Aimee extended her hands out at The Count and began to fire a barrage of ki blasts, but delibertly missed him. She made them seem as if she intended to hit him but allowed them to miss. Everest smiled and brought his arms together into an "x". He watched as the blasts all collided upon him at once. A large explosion erupted, engulfing him. Aimee waited for the smoke to clear and saw that The Count remained mostly unscathed. She dropped to one knee and panted slightly, feeling a little exhausted from having expended so much ki at one time.

"I know this attack, Aimee. I know my disciple, Rigidar, has learned it. The problem with this tech is that it can be easily neutralized with the help of a technique such as barrier and by blocking. That makes the tech pretty much pointless. You'll have to do better than that. How is your close-combat fighting skills, hmmm?" The Count raised his sword, then charged towards his opponent. As he came upon Aimee he slashed his blade once, jumped into the air and slashed once more. Two shockwaves were released from his sword which were sent towards the girl.

Aimee dashed to the side and evaded to two incoming shockwaves. She then retaliated with two suikens aimed at Everest's face, then followed up with four beam balls which she lobbed at him. He simply raised both his forearms to block the
attacks and watched them all explode upon him. The remaining effect of the barrier blocked out the damage and he remained mostly unscathed as usual.

"My turn". The Count. He smiled and raised is blade. After charging for his opponent, he came upon Aimee. First he jabbed with the butt of his sword, then swung his blade horizontally. Aimee kept her guard up and diverted the butt of the weapon to the side. She then obstructed the movement of his attack by reaching for his forearms to resist the swing. The Count's blade still managed to cut into her side and she yelped in pain.

'Fuck it seemed all too real'.

Aimee then sent out a headbutt for the Count's face and then cocked her fist back. She charged ki into the focal point where her knuckles were and shot her fist out aimed at his chest in order to knock the Count back. The Count was slightly stunned from the headbutt and was knocked back from the attack. He stumbled backwards but quickly recuperated.

"You're quite the feisty girl."

"Enough talk. Let's get this over with."

Aimee dropped into a squat and released her full power. Her hair changed to blonde and then she transformed. A bright blinding flash of light exploded from her being. The Count groaned at the sight of the light and raised his hands to shield his eyes as best as possible from it.

"This match is over. HYYYYAAA!" Aimee spewed out four ghosts and sent them out for the Count. She then cupped her hands together and dropped into a squat as she prepared for her attack. As she gathered ki into her palms, the four ghosts went out and charged ki into their palms as well. Together, they fired off kamehamehas and released them for the Count. Then Aimee teleported behind the Count once she had seen the kamehamehas collide and fired her's as well. A collision of ki and power against the villain resulted in a gigantic explosion that engulfed the whole cavern in a flash of light.

Aimee dropped on to one knee and watched as her assailant fell to the ground. Her mouth dropped at the sight of him still being alive and rising up as if nothing had happened. He pointed at Ridigar as well. She turned to look at The Fast and saw that he rose as well as if unharmed.

"But, but, but. I defeated you. I defeated you!" Aimee cursed under her breath, having wasted all her ki on the two warriors and getting to this point. She felt fatigued.

"You did well, Matsuyama Aimee. Actually, you did defeat me. I was unable to continue the match after what you did. However, the danger that you put yourself in was that you expended all your ki in one go and risked everything on that one situation. Had this been a real battle and I managed to escape, how would you then continue?"

"Good point. I'll have to keep that in mind."

"You were right to think that we were figments of your imagination. And that is true, we are. We are not actually Ridigar and Everest. This was merely one part of your trial. A psychoanalysis of your mind. You may proceed through that entrance." The Count then looked at the wall and pointed. Suddenly a cavern corridor appeared.

"I find this conversation to be a little wierd, considering you are both..."

"I understand. Don't worry about it. Just proceed down the corridor to your next and final segment of this trial. The thing about this trial is that it is meant to wear you down. To test you, and your mind. One of the greatest battles is said to be one against yourself. However, you did not fight yourself, though you did fight a part of you, and you passed. You overcame. And now you are worn out. You will fight again and this time you will be forced to rely on your telekinetic powers and not the powers you dispensed within the bounds of our match."

"Awww. Ingenious. I didn't think about that. A battle to put me to the test as well as to make me waste my power." Aimee grinned. "Alright, alright. Just give me a moment to take this all in, then I will proceed."

"Whenever you are ready." The Count and Ridigar both walked over to Aimee. They sheathed their weapons and sat down next to her. "Does it bother you that we are here, sitting next to you, in friendly terms?"

"Yes. I am not used to it. This is not even in character for you both. I remember..."

Aimee thought back about her past experiences long ago with the two warriors.

"...I remember that last time I fought you both I was unable to manipulate the elements or dispense any kind of power. Raiosu was stronger than I and even he lost to you. Things have changed. We both have improved much since then, I think. I dunno. It has been a long, long, long time since I last saw him. I fought with him sometimes in a spar here and there in the sparring realm but he and I haven't seen each other for a long time. And now I am supposed to meet him on Avalon."

The Count smiled. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "So, you are to meet him on Avalon, huh. You know what to do. You know that you should go back to Earth to use the Room Of Spirit And Time in order to get much stronger, otherwise..."

"...otherwise I fear I won't be able to beat him?"

"Yes."
