[Saiyan Gains]

The Saiyan sat quietly in the corn field, deep in meditation. His breathing labored and controlled, he had escaped into his mind. It was a rare occurrence for him nowadays, as most of the time an angry, malevolent voice mocked him from inside there but now...it had fallen quiet.

Sure, it popped in every so often to throw out a short quip but for the most part, he was the only one inside his head. And it gave him time to search through the nooks of his memories in an attempt to locate his previous life.

But he was distracted right now. He hadn't been able to locate Levana in quite some time and Hercule had dug himself into politics, preventing him from getting away to help Chishan.

The Saiyan could always count on Rubic but the droid could only do so much for him. He did need social interaction that had some feeling behind it, instead of cold, calculated and processed wording. He liked the droid, there was no doubt about that, but he wanted someone organic.

That's why he had asked to meet Minosha. He had remembered the boy from one of his first missions of Earth; a child with the responsibilities of an adult. He had impressed Chishan, despite being very visibly upset with the Saiyan's choice of hairstyle. It had since been growing out since then so perhaps he wouldn't be as upset about it this time.

Speaking of which, his senses locked on to an approaching power level, right around Mino's level. His opens opened slowly, bringing himself back to the world of the living. He left the ground, where he had been kneeling and strode through the corn stalks. He hadn't gone in very deep; far enough that no one would come by and question him though. Emerging from the field of yellow, he stepped out onto the plain green field that he had chosen as a battleground and waiting for the arrival of his friend.

“You called?” Minosha said with a grin.

He landed on to the grassy field with a soft tap. He was a bit surprised when Chishan had asked for a sparring session, but after having slayed a terrible beast together, it was no surprise that they had formed a sort of trust. Minosha was slowly but surely getting over his anxiety over saiyans. He had nearly been killed by one, and then told that they should never be allowed to live for if they did they would come after him. The more he met them, though, the more he realized that they were not all cast from the same mold; at least the ones that didn’t live on Planet Vegeta, anyway.

“You’ve gotten quite a bit stronger I see,” the Konatsu observed.

Perfect. Chishan had just been beyond the reach of the pink-haired alien’s skills in their first meeting, and the gap was slowly widening. He was an excellent opponent: strong enough to force Minosha to utilize every ounce of power and cleverness he had to keep things sharp, yet soft enough that it wouldn’t be an out and out massacre if the saiyan were to let loose his full ability. The Konatsu vowed to get stronger, so they would be more evenly matched. Until then, their present states would have to do.

Minosha slid into a fighting stance, preferring unarmed combat at the moment. It was still his weak point, and he needed to expand upon his fundamentals. They were also far enough away from civilization that a little bit of ki use wasn’t out of the question.

The alien youth sprung into action, leaping high above and coming down on Chishan with a locked and loaded straight punch aimed for the head. Then it would be two quick jabs to the gut and a roundhouse kick to the ribs.

He always did appreciate a straightforward approach.

It had been quite some time since he had seen Minosha. The scrappy young alien landed across from him with a grin on his face and excitement in his eyes. Chishan couldn't help but return the smile. He may appear small and childish but the Saiyan knew there was more power in his little body than most humans.

"I could say the same to you." He replied to the alien's observation. He cracked his neck, limbering up for their match that was about to take place. He watched as his ally fell into a battle stance, ready to go. Chishan, not wanting to displease, fell into his own stance. He noted that Mino didn't seem to be interested in using his sword. And here I thought that was the extent of his techniques. I'm glad to see he wants to expand past that, he thought happily.

And then Mino jumped into action.

He was ready for the attack but he couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised by his speed; shooting into the air and back down towards the Amnesiac Saiyan in a flash. He brought his arm up, using his solid muscle to block the first punch that came towards his head.

But the alien fell and threw two punches to his gut, hard strikes that resonated through the armor and impacted his skin. Though his abs were clenched, he could already feel the soreness building when the final blow, a side kick, landed squarely against his side. That one he felt straight through the armor, a sharp pain shooting up to his armpit.

The attack ended, Chishan clenched his jaw as the ache in his torso began to set in. But a sly smile managed to creep up through it.

"Very impressive." He said, relaxing his jaw. With a quick rub from his right hand, he pushed the pain to the back of his mind and leapt into action.

He crossed the distance in seconds, stopping in a crouch in front of the alien. With a push from his back leg, he brought his right knee up intended for the abdominal. Following up, he brought his hands, that were wound together, up in a rising hammer blow for the chin. And upon releasing his right hand, he swung it down in an arc; a knife-edge strike meant for the boy's jaw. And if that didn't connect, his left hand came across his body in a half-strength shovel hook meant to hit the same spot.

Chishan certainly reflected Minosha’s tastes for head-on assaults. What was more, the saiyan actually treated the Konatsu as an equal, without quips, without condescension. He could see them as regular sparring partners, or allies on future missions.

Minosha thrust down his hand to block Chishan’s knee, and then he arced backwards to avoid the reverse hammer blow that zoomed up from the same direction as the leg. It sailed right by, close enough that the little swordsman could feel the vibration of the air against his chin. It didn’t matter much. The saiyan was quick to keep up his assault, and Minosha’s head bobbled left and right as each of his partner’s fists clipped him on the jaw.

The Konatsu stumbled back and shook it off, working his mandible back and forth to make sure nothing was broken. This guy really knew his stuff. Minosha made a mental note to study his opponent’s style as much as possible, maybe even try to work on some of it on his own to further develop his offensive and defensive capabilities. The alien youth knew he had the punch; now he wanted to see if he had the kick.

Minosha closed the gap, keeping his weight balanced, and then jumped up for a spin kick to Chishan’s face. When he landed, he planted one foot down and brought up the other one for a side kick to the saiyan’s chest. Then he twisted, switching feet and attempted to pummel his partner’s knee with a stomp kick.

That was his other favorite method: high, mid, low. You couldn’t find a better combination of targets.

He is strong and he is fast. Very impressive for his age, thought Chishan as he finished his combination against Minosha. Despite all the drama that had occurred in his life in the past weeks, the thrill of this spar was exciting and helped him forget his troubles.

Falling back into a defensive position, he waited a moment for his partner to collect himself from the damage he had managed to receive. It didn't take him long and as that one small silent moment passed, Mino was at it again.

He pushed himself off the ground after closing the gap and twisted his body to throw a spin kick his way. The Saiyan simply pulled his head back, allowing the foot to pass harmlessly in front of his eyes. As the alien boy landed on the ground, he lay in another kick that connected hard against his armor. The blow resonated through the thick padding, vibrating painfully against his pectorals. Chishan grunted in response, biting down the pain.

As he watched the boy bring down his other foot in a stomp, a thought occurred to him. Stabilizing his leg by pushing hard into the ground, he let the attack his the top of his knee. The strike hurt no doubt, stinging right through the thin layer of blue armor.

Ignoring the pain the best he could, he reacted before the boy could pull his leg back. The same leg kicked to the side, attempting to catch the imbalanced boy in a sweep. Alternating his legs quickly, he thrust out a front kick with his opposite leg, designated for the boy's sternum and in the hope of sending him flying backwards.

Meanwhile, yellow balls of ki energy began forming in his hands, the light shining through the cracks between fingers. As he completed that combo, he pushed off with his planted leg backwards.

"Let's say we get the fireworks going!" He exclaimed, excitement pouring through his voice. And with a quick whipping motion with both arms, he sent out two ki blasts towards his opponent, hoping to up the ante.

He felt Chishan sweep his ankle and send him off balance. The speed would have been impressive if Minosha hadn’t been on the receiving end of it. No, it was still impressive, just a little annoying at the moment. Before he could even fall back and hit the ground, the saiyan’s other foot planted squarely on his chest and sent him backwards. The Konatsu had enough time to register the pain of the strike, to realize his new flight path, and to begin attempting to right himself before Chishan rose the stakes by sending two glimmering balls of ki after him at a ridiculously fast pace.

Minosha halted his flight in a burst of energy, practically stopping on a dime as he adjusted for the sudden change in inertia. He raised his hands and calculated the angle of the blasts, then he fired two of his own in perfect counter. Once they collided and canceled each other out in a brilliant explosion of whiteness, he fired out for more rapid blasts straight in the saiyan’s direction. But that wasn’t all. If his foe was fishing for more chips in the pot, then Minosha was glad to not only call his bet, but re-raise him. The Konatsu formed a dual pair of Sokidan spheres, and hurled the basketball-sized attacks with gusto towards Chishan.

He had been hoping for something a little more straightforward, but he supposed that practicing his ki attacks was still important. It only reminded him of the fact that despite his ally’s docile nature, he was still a saiyan at heart, and the excitement of battle overtook him quite easily. Only Pan had showed a modicum of self-restraint amongst the Planet Vegeta-born warriors, and even then he had to wonder how difficult of a task that really was.

Minosha allowed Chishan a moment to deal with his energy assault, perhaps even get in a shot or two in parting, before deciding he needed to return to his individual training. He didn’t want things getting too out of hand, especially since this other fighter was shaping out to be a companionable fellow.

“Thanks for the match,” the Konatsu grinned. “I still have a long way to go, but you can be sure that the next time we face each other I’ll be even stronger. I think we work well together, and you seem like a decent person. I would be happy to train with you in the future or fight by your side.”

The alien boy waved in parting, and slowly lifted off.

“Until we meet again, Chishan!”
