If he was going to get stronger like his allies, Gohan had to work hard. He knew that. He’d just gotten out of the realm inside the sapphire in his hand…the gem of telepathy. But he already felt the desire to go right back in. He’d put on his weighted gear, as well, to make it that much harder. “Alright, come on…” He said, looking at the blue gem in his hand. “Give me someone strong!” There was a blue flash of light and for a second he was in the very deepest part of the realm within the gem, feeling weightlessly as he floating through a pool of conscious energy. Then there was another flash and he was in a desert. Golden sand was under the Half Saiyan’s feet and an equally gold sun was above his head. The landscape was dotted with cactus, a couple rocks…and not much else, really. Gohan quickly slid into the Tiger Claw stance, looking around for his opponent. It seemed the gem was looking to help him with his quest to train as hard as possible, because this desert was damn hot. He was already starting to sweat, the Half Saiyan noticed as he swiped the salty liquid off his forehead. 208 |

The tournament was finally over. Goten had learned much more than he had expected over the course of the last few days, having been pushed to (what he thought) were his limits, and beyond. Despite this, the youngster still felt that there was much to be learned, and that was his next goal. He may not have succeeded in securing the cash prize, but he had gained something far more valuable - an ally. Stanley had picked Goten up out of the crowd and guided him through the tournament, and boy did Goten appreciate it. The duo were now headed for more training. To the legendary Master Roshi. "Before we head off," Stanley started, as he combed his grey moustache to almost perfection. "There's something that I wanted to give you. I stumbled across it before the tournament, and with that over, I think it's time I gave it to you," The old man reached into his pocked and pulled out a small, red object, before tossing it across the room to Goten. Immediately, the young boy inspected the item. He could see himself in the shiny, crimson gem. "What is it?" Goten replied, still intensely focused on the small ruby. "It's commonly known as the Gem of Telepathy. Legend suggests that it allows the user to be transported to another realm, in which they can face off against tough opponents in a purpose-built environment. Kind of like a spar, I guess," Almost on cue, the gem began to glow a bright red in the young boy's hand, and within seconds, Goten felt as though he had been pulled into the shiny ruby. As he opened his eyes, the youngster was greeted with another bright light, though it was no longer the gem that was emanating such light. Goten shielded his eyes from the intense light and tried to see whereabouts he was. Beneath him, the orphan could feel sand brush up against his legs as the light breeze carried the grains of sand across the desert. Though unlike anything he had ever felt, the breeze was not welcoming. It was as if the heat was being pushed on to his skin, making him feel sick. As the boy looked up, he could see the silhouette was a tall man standing a mere twenty feet away. 'Is this the opponent Stan was talking about' Goten thought to himself as he wiped the ever-increasing sweat from his forehead. WC: 409 |

The opponent was a small one, Gohan had to admit. Tiny, really. He had to be very young. But after just a second more of inspection he was surprised to find that this boy looked a lot like him. Did Gohan have a younger brother in this timeline? Perhaps. “Hey, you ready to go?” He asked, smiling. “My name’s Gohan.” Giving a few seconds for response the Half Saiyan then began to sprint towards his opponent. He knew there wasn’t much around to use, telekinetically, but Gohan did have some idea. As he ran he took hold off the sand below him with his mind. He focused on a small area and let the grains float up, experimentally shaping them into the form of a huge sword, with a hilt and everything. “Oh, man, that’s cool!” He said. He was holding the sand sword together tight enough that it would be held together as well as a normal blade, and wouldn’t break on contact with the boy he was facing. Heck, it could be hard as a rock as long as he held the individual particles together strongly. He doubted it would be particularly sharp, however, so instead of going for a stab the Half Saiyan raised his arm up into the air and then brought it down as he reached his foe, going for a slash to the top of their head. 234/442 |

"Hey, you ready to go?" The voice in the distance asked. Goten's eyes still hadn't properly adjusted to the environment, so all he could see was a dark shadow...with a voice. "My name's Gohan," The man continued. Once his eyes had adjusted more, the young boy stared at his opponent. For some reason, he felt an odd connection with the unknown warrior. The resemblance between the two of them was strikingly similar, although Goten just chalked this up to coincidence. "Erm...I'm Goten," The boy replied, still unsure to what he should be doing. He had been in a few fights now, but he hadn't ever sparred before, and didn't really know the general etiquette for it. Though he wasn't given any time to figure it out, before the new warrior came sprinting towards the young orphan, brandishing his arm out to the side, as the sand sped up alongside him, forming into a sword, which rested gently into the man's hand. Before Goten could question just how Gohan had been able to use such a technique, he was forced on to the back foot as his opponent attempted to strike down upon his head with the make-shift blade. Instinctively, the youngster bent down and grabbed a handful of sand, before leaping to the right, narrowly avoiding the sand sword, whilst tossing the sand in his hand into the man's face. Seconds later, Goten raised his right arm, and shot a beam of energy towards Gohan's torso, hoping to catch him off-guard. WC: 253 TWC: 662 |

Goten was able to avoid the strike of Gohan’s improvised weapon, and responded with an equally improvised attack. Gohan raised an eyebrow as the sand was thrown towards him, but with the additional focus he had due to the Tiger Claw Stance, he was able to telekinetically take hold of that sand as well, and fling it back at his opponent. The next strike was a simple beam of energy, going for Gohan’s torso. Normally it would be a trivial thing, but at this short range the Half Saiyan was unable to get out of the way. Instead he was hit in the chest by his enemy’s shot and staggered away from his child foe. His mental focus was lost and his sword broke into tiny molecules that floated back onto the ground. This one certainly seemed tricky, despite his size… Stepping back towards his opponent, Gohan pulled his right arm back and then shot it forward as fast as he could. Doing so he unleashed a wave of telekinetic force towards Goten that would hopefully knock him backwards, onto the sand. Gohan then finished up his combo by reaching into his pocket and quickly pulling out a kunai knife. He threw it at Goten, so that if the boy was indeed propelled back by the wave of force he would find a sharp surprise coming after him at high speed. The Half Saiyan felt kind of bad for using a knife against a child, but with such a bland environment there wasn’t much else he could do. 258/700 |

The sand, which Goten had used as a blinding agent for Gohan had completely back-fired. Not only had it not effected Gohan, but it had been deflected back at him. The only consolation being that Goten could hear the sound of his beam striking his opponent, as intended. Though, the youngster could not celebrate for long, as what seemed like a thick, invisible wall struck his entire body, sending him flying back like a rag doll. Before the young orphan even hit the ground, he was stuck with a blinding pain in his left collarbone. Goten hit the sandy floor, skidding along, as the friction tore through the back of his clothes. As he came to a half, the boy grabbed at his shoulder, immediately feeling a handle embedded into his flesh. He grasped the handle and tried to wiggle it out, as his blood seeped from the deep wound. His eyes welled up and tears streamed out from the pain, which emanated from his collarbone increased. His bright orange top quickly changed to a blood-stained red as Goten finally removed the blade from his shoulder, crying out in pain as he did so. Goten hadn't expected such intense and real pain in a realm, which had been specifically created for sparring, as opposed to a real battle. The boy picked himself from the ground, dropping the blood-drenched blade down beside him, whilst trying to stem the blood from from his shoulder wound. "That wasn't nice!" Goten shouted, trying to hold back the tears. He had withstood many beatings in the past, but being stabbed was certainly a new one. The young boy clenched his fists and launched himself at his larger adversary. His shoulder still hurt like hell, but he had no choice but to try and get on the offensive, before Gohan had the chance. Goten's aura burst around him as he straightened his body, making him look more like a missile, as the sand picked up around him, rising with his power. The objective was to use his hard head as a weapon and crash against his opponent's ribs, before falling into the sand and firing a volley of beam balls at his adversary. WC: 367 TWC: 1,029 |

Gohan’s eyes went wide as he saw the damage had had inflicted upon Goten. Blood seeped out of the boy’s wound and tears were visible in his eyes. He hadn’t meant to hurt the kid so much…but hey, the pain would be gone once they had left this realm, and that would hopefully be pretty soon. “That wasn’t nice!” “Sorry!” Gohan replied, but before he could say anything more a large aura flared up around Goten. In an instant the kid was in the air, and was launching himself forward at the Half Saiyan like some sort of…torpedo? The Half Saiyan was hit head-on by the attack and he screamed in pain as the force sent him flying backwards. He wasn’t sure how far he went before he hit the ground, but it was definitely quite a distance…and then he bounced and kept going, several times, until finally he sled to a stop. “Holy fuck…” he said, struggling to get to his feet. “That was hardcore.” He felt incredible pain in his ribs, and his whole body was shaking viciously. Although he was hardly stable, the Psychic Master did manage to get back to a standing position. Looking to where Goten was he saw the boy was lying in the sand, seemingly…defeated? Nope. A moment later Goten’s hands lit up with ki, and a shower of beam balls rained upon Gohan like a rain of fire. He did not have much strength left but the Half Saiyan raised his arms and activated a ki force field, otherwise known as a barrier. The majority of the attack clashed into his shield had no effect, but a few stray shots clipped him here or there. Finally the attack was over and Gohan lowered his shield, moving all of the ki he had used to create it into his palm, which he then pulled back. An orb of white ki formed in that palm, and then turned blue with a white core. It grew bigger and bigger until it was three times the size of Gohan’s own head, and then he threw it forward towards the spot where Goten lay. “Big Bang Attack!” He yelled as he fired the shot. He was sure from sense that his opponent would be too tired to dodge this one, and blocking would not defend them enough to keep them in fighting condition. Game over. 398/1,098 |
