During a lull in his training on the ship, Android 16 had decided to give the gem he had hand crafted a bit of a test run. Switching the gravity off, he would take the gem in hand as he positioned himself against the wall of his room, turning the gem over with his fingers a few times, before pressing it to his forehead, a small compartment opening and accepting it before closing.

A few quick connections established moments later, and Android 16 had it installed as a nifty little component; no longer needing to carry it around. Shutting down his more bodily functions, he would make full use of the gem that was now installed. Astral projection of the soul was not too difficult to mimic; a series of electrical signals through the gem to process what he desired to do with it, and he was soon creating his danger zone.

Having heard this was a good way to find people with which to train with, he create the zone around him as something he was most used to; transforming the empty space around him into a large, luscious forest filled with green. Nothing spectacular about it; just a plain, simple forest as he most enjoyed.

Crossing his arms over his chest, he would settle a few feet above the ground of the forest, in a position that had him simply standing and waiting in the air. Android 16 was rather curious to see who would answer his call; he understood there would be no need for words, as this realm was designed solely for fighting.

The scarred saiyan had found some precious time to rest within his newly purchased ship, the Normandy, sitting in the captain’s chair and envisioning his upcoming trip to Kanassa and Sprout’s face crumbling under his fist.

It soon became boring however, so he withdrew the gem he used to grant him access to the astral realm. After so many uses he now no longer feared his mind not returning to his body and he was safely tucked away in his ship. So why not.

Reality twisted as his mind was dislocated from his body and the veteran found himself within a world constructed by his foe who levitated in the middle of the lust green forest he had imagined into existence. The being was a large, well-muscled humanoid with a shockingly orange mohawk.

“Right then big fella, let’s get this going. I’m Bardock by the way,” He greeted the light green and black clad giant. His royal blue aura flared into life in response to the error message his scouter displayed. Must be an android he thought glumly. He seemed to be meeting more and more of them lately and annoyingly, you never knew how strong they would be.

Bardock raised both palms to face his opponent for the day and fired of six golden orbs of power. Hoping to test the android’s limits with a probing attack to begin with.

This was Android 16’s first time utilizing this gem, and a part of him wished to acquire data from how he would be affected from a direct hit; but the smarter part of him realized that was just not a wise thing to do before you had any idea of how this placed fully worked. 16 would brace himself as he would dart forward through the air, his flight unit allowing him to move without leaving an energy signature, though he saw no real advantage to that in a head to head fight.

Calculating the paths of the energy blasts, 16 would quickly twist his body mid-flight, not much, but enough to put his side toward the ground; his goal of slipping past them before they converged fully on his former location was a partial success, his movements to avoid the first throwing him off slightly and sending him directly into the remaining three. As the blasts rocked him, he would add the mistake to his data; having fought few energy using beings to date, he needed as much data as he could muster.

As Android 16 righted himself from the initial impacts, he would scan this Bardock’s power, his readings leading him to figure that had been a test, as he himself had done in previous encounters. He would have to be careful not to make that mistake again with a real attack in the future. “I am Android 16. I hope this will prove beneficial to the both of us,” he would respond, preparing his own move now.

16’s strength currently relied on close quarters, and that was what he aimed to lead into as he would channel the energy from his flight unit outward into a less subtle working method, activating his power flight as he launched forward; his flight path dipping down slightly as he neared Bardock, and then pulling up sharply. As he pulled up, his body would lean to the left, his right leg lifting up in a sharp kick that was aimed for Bardock’s mid-section of his left side; 16’s second attack quickly following in the form of a closed, left handed blow that arced downward from above toward Bardock’s right shoulder; a clear attempt at knocking him off balance, as well as perhaps lowering his attacking capabilities by slowing one arm down.

The veteran’s initiating attack landed as planned. The android trying to dodge the numerous orbs, a feat impossible to all but the very fastest of beings.

Once recovered, the robot introduced himself as Android 16, a bland, uninteresting name at best. You’d think someone who could design a machine like this could come up with an interesting name. His opponent advanced, throwing up a kick towards the veteran’s left side. The android was fast, but Bardock was faster. He caught the kick on his forearm, stopping the momentum dead, a light throb developed in the limb.

The android continued his physical assault, a meaty fist aimed for the veteran’s chiselled right shoulder. Bardock used his superior speed once more, turning the blow aside with his right hand while he lashed forward, driving his solid head into the robot’s nose.

“You’ll have to do better than that,” the scarred warrior taunted the android as he moved backwards to clear a space between the pair and prepare for his opponent’s next assault.

Android 16 would adjust his data slightly as his partner in this astral spar would pass up countering him, and instead move away from him. “It seems you are correct. You are a good deal more powerful than me, and by my calculations, I have little chance of coming out of this as the victor. ,” he would state rather plainly. However, this was a good opportunity to try out his new attack that he had finally mastered. 16 had been hesitant to do so against his friends, but this one was strong enough to take it.

“Very well. I will give you one of my advanced skills. I hope to acquire significant data from this,” said with no cruelty, as his 16’s energy flared up again; his power flight putting distance between Bardock and himself as he channeled his energy. It would take him a few moments to gather the required power for it, even with him cutting it down in power to speed it up; his arms moving, extending outward from his sides, the energy gathering in his palms sending brief flashes of light out as he focused it into two large orbs, one in each palm. 16’s arms would move forward, hands moving the blasts forward and into the air in front of him, his hands pushing them forward, sending them spinning through the air.

16 was still practicing fully mastering this technique, making it a bit slow for the time being, but within a few moments the two blasts would alter course with the movements of 16’s hands, sending them skyward, where they would join together on the path up. He needed data on effective methods of avoiding energy attacks, and he was fairly certain this Bardock person would be able provide excellent data and not die in the process. 16’s hands would close suddenly, the joined blasts in the sky breaking apart into a rain of lower-powered blasts that started to plummet down to the ground, aimed for Bardock and his surrounding location.

The veteran waited calmly as his android stated what he already knew. Yes, Bardock was much more powerful. Little, sorry, no chance of winning for you. “Send your best at me,” he responded the the bot’s last statement, “We’re here to practice after all.”

He watched on as 16 produced a orb of ki in each hand. The pair where fired towards the veteran, moving slowly before the bot moved his arms and the ki responded by turning up, pausing above Barodck’s head and merging into one.

Oh, Bardock thought idly as an electrical, multihued aura crackled into life around him. The orb began to rain ki down on the veteran, only to be absorbed by his protective aura. “Not bad,” he called to the android, “It could be useful if used in the right scenario. Now, I’ll show you my best,” a nasty smirk spread across his marked face at the end.

He raised his right palm to face his foe, judgement to come echoed from the stance as a large orb of royal blue ki developed mere millimetres to the fore of the aforementioned appendage. His free hand came up to press its index and middle finger to his forehead and the veteran warrior was simply gone. He appeared immediately before the android, “Catch,” he grinned at the bot as he released the orb of death at his foe’s midsection.

Android 16 was a machine. He could mentally react faster than nearly any organic being; and in this situation, he became quite aware of the proximity of this attack; little good it did though; even with mental speed, there was no way he could react in time to avoid this completely at his current capabilities. He understood quite well that he was outmatched in this encounter, and the speed that Bardock showed was not something he could hope to match in any way.

The best 16 could think to do in such a short time was to brace himself for the blow, arms crossing in front of him as he kicked his flight unit into full power, attempting to launch himself backward with the blow in hopes of lessoning the impact; he was not quite sure how the technique worked; if it was an explosion on contact, or one that would travel with him; either way it would be preferable to not stand in place for it.

The initial hit of the attack would send him flying back just as he had expected, the force of it combined with his own desperate attempt to move back giving him a slight reprieve from the full force of the attack, but it was more than enough to lower his output; 16 would gather what spare energy he could in that brief moment, enhancing his speed to give the illusion of a short distanced teleport a few yards to the side of the remains of the attack. The damage was done, however, and he would accept this outcome. “I believe I have reached my limit in this encounter. I admit defeat.”
