It was hard not to overhear things that came up in conversation on the Codex. The ship itself was practically integrated wirelessly with the android warrior, every camera, sensor reading, and damage report logged into the ship’s central computer was made readily available for Rubic’s perusal, a task that Rubic took up not out of enjoyment, but rather, he took it up due to his rather meticulous nature. Were he not a robot designed for pure efficiency, he might have left the database alone simply for reasons of whim or fancy. But no, Rubic was not a creature of desire, only servitude, and as such, he found himself monitoring the progress of his other teammates as the Codex made the journey from Earth to Maverick. They had been invited to oversee and watch the final rounds of the tournament personally, and as such, Rubic had been ordered to the planet in order to observe the greatest warriors in the galaxy. It was more so Rubic would have ways of combating against such foes rather than any personal interest. However, Rubic had heard a name mentioned in the decks of codex. Pan. Whoever she was, she was mentioned in passing by some of the warriors aboard the troop carrier, and as such, Rubic checked his databanks to see if he had any idea who this Pan person was. Unfortunately, he had no data, but he had one method at his fingertips in order to find out who and what she was. As such, he retrieved the gem of telepathy from an internal compartment observing the crystal in his hands before interfacing his consciousness systems with the gem. It was a strange and involved process in order for something to precise and digital to work with an object so much the opposite. Still, after a few moments, Rubic’s conscious thought was transported in the mysterious realm of the aether. Within the spectral battleground, it looked like he was on the surface of Mars, but the planet’s geography was vastly different, not to mention larger. Still, the red soil on the ground gave him the thought that this place was at least an iron-rich planet or moon, the atmosphere above indicating that the air was breathable to Rubic’s sensory instruments. Wherever Rubic had been sent, the gem was using memories from one or both warriors in order to create the battlefield. Rubic merely waited for his opponent to appear… WC: 406 |

[Saiyan Gains] This would definitely be a week that Pan would remember. Her struggle to attain this new state was proving challenging enough, and just as she was grabbing the proper amount of control over it, the astral realm beckoned her again. She was in no place to deny it, as she had been with all of her other encounters, and was immediately transferred in to the realm of the mind. She arrived on bended knee, her head down and her arm on her knee as though she was protecting herself. She stood up to her full height, standing up completely straight and staring down her opponent. The first thing that Rubic would likely notice was that she was completely missing her pupils at first. It took a moment but her honey-brown orbs returned to their normal color (and state) and she looked at her opponent, "This is new. You're a robot." She cracked her neck and rolled her arms as she offered him the greeting she gave everyone, "I'm Pan." This was, of course, complete with the momentary murderous stare that came with the heavy implication of 'no jokes'. "I guess you've got a name too, right?" She waited for a response as she firmed herself, setting her legs shoulder width apart and flexing her arms while keeping them at her side. "Well then, if you don't mind, I was taught never to underestimate an android. I think I'll start this by fighting at full capacity." She centered herself and let out a low groan that became a roar of power quite quickly as she powered up to maximum, her aura flaring white and dancing with crimson electricity across her form. Her hair threatened to stand on end and the sand surrounding them rose in chunks along with her power level, which spiked to levels that, with the right amount of intelligence and skill, could be threatening to the android. Her aura burning around her, she pointed a single open palm at him and simply said, "Big. Bang." A sphere of red-purple energy gathered in her palm before it grew to massive proportions and fired off at the great hulking machine. WC: 360 |

The woman before Rubic was definitely female and a Saiyan. Her musculature and bone structure was consistent with a female specimen of the Saiyan race, particularly the tail, and scans of her body revealed she was, indeed, a she. With that, he logged her facial arrangement into his recognition software so that he could associate her face with a name in the future. However, when she stood up and introduced herself, Rubic remained where he was, almost an immobile statue. “This unit is known as Robotic Bodyguard and Combatant Series Four Model One One,” The robot responded, carefully observing every motion of her body for any hostile intent. Of course, Saiyan mentality was, in of itself, hostile in nature in nearly all things, if previous studies were to be believed. Indeed, she soon took up a stance after introducing herself and explaining that she would be fighting at her peak capacity. Of course, Rubic had merely wanted to meet this person rather than fight, but in the face of a threat, even in the astral realm, the android powered up his combat systems all the same. Gears and pistons seemed to move and grind against one another inside the android, the whine of hydraulics barely audible as the android moved with a mechanical fluidity, every movement of his body pre-determined and measured for optimal efficiency. “Combat Systems Activated,” Rubic said in his grating, annoying, and synthetic voice. It lacked emotion or empathy, but of particular note, it was devoid of fear or care. He accepted the circumstances of this battle just like any other, his hands looking like tiger claws. Knees slightly bent to lower his center of gravity, his sensors already determining and estimating power levels and combat proficiencies. Even as he did this, the woman was gathering power towards herself, particularly her hands, the android able to see the flow of energy across her body with his magnetic scanner. Were he made of flesh and blood, one might call him perverted, but such was the meticulous nature of the android that he did not see her clothes or armor, preferring to ignore those articles in preference to directly view each and every single one of her muscles as they worked on focusing the energy of the woman’s ki. Then, she declared her attack, firing off a massive ball of energy she had gathered at her hands. The android continued to stand where he was, not even moving a single inch, save for a pair of odd pillars that emerged from his shoulder plates. These same pillars began to vibrate, producing a sphere of energy that surrounded the android in a protective shell. The blast impacted against that same energy shield, most of the energy and force behind the attack bleeding away, impacting against the stone-resolute war machine with enough power to singe the armor plating on his body. The white paint scorched and melted, but the metal beneath remained steady. When the smoke cleared, the android continued to stand where he was. However, his right arm was folding, transforming, mechanical pieces twisting to reveal a massive gun barrel hidden inside the android’s arm. Properly produced, the cannon began to glow with a blue energy deep within, the energy banks charging up from Rubic’s personal energy supply. PREPARING TO FIRE MEGA BUSTER. Without warning, the android was a flurry of motion, quickly taking to the air, thanks to the assistance of his flight systems. Jets of energy streamed out of the back and legs of the robot, Rubic quickly focusing his targeting reticle over the woman and achieving a firing solution. LOCKED ON TARGET. Rubic leveled his arm at the woman and unleashed his attack, a large beam of blue light racing towards its intended target. He would see just how powerful she really was. WC: 636 TWC: 1042 |

Pan's eyes widened at the way her robotic opponent deflected the attack. It wasn't that she hadn't been expecting it (although, of course, she hadn't) but simply that she thought it was... well... damn awesome. There was no hesitation, no grimace of concentration because, well the robot had no face. It had simply reacted. A grin spread on her lips as she became aware of the fact that this fight was going to be fun. As it seemed to switch gears or something, she watched its arm become a massive void, her eyes widened as she noticed the energy charging within, "Is that... are you a cannon? Holy Kais you're a cannon!" The blue burst of powerful energy rushed at her and almost wiped the smirk off of her face, until the Saiyan warrior decided to give the android a taste of its own medicine. She flicked her wrist just right, activating one of the nifty little inventions Doctor Searus had cooked up for her based on something she'd seen warriors bring back from Mortoseth. A long thin silver rod on her forearm extended and surrounded itself until it became a circular shield which she held up just in time to re-direct the attack that her opponent had sent to her. It flew harmlessly towards the sky rather than severely damaging her as she was almost certain it could have. The fact that she had instinctively braced when it met with her shield told her that there was definitely power behind this robot's attack. She flicked her wrist again and the shield collapsed into itself. "Neat, isn't it?" She wasn't really expecting an answer from him, as judging from his voice he was closer to the servant robots that the Elite classes on Saiyan used to bring them food and drink than some of the Cyborgs that were produced on Avalon. Still, he could fight better than any walking refrigerator she'd ever met, that much was already certain. With that resolved, she decided to try her hand at responding to his introduction, however mechanical it may have been, "It's nice to meet you, Robotic Bodyguard and Combatant Series Four Model One One. Do you... have a nickname? Maybe Ted?" She blurred her speed and reappeared in his face, delivering a harsh kick towards what would approximate as his skull, and attempting to follow it up by combining her two fists into one hammerfist and smashing him back down to the dirt below. Her best battling took place on solid land, so she had to find a way to get him there. WC: 431 TWC: 791 |

Rubic allowed his sensors to probe further, especially when she used that strange device on her arm to deflect his powerful shot away. It was an interesting item, to be sure, and just from observing the device, Rubic felt that he could replicate it in some way, though he would need to study it further to be certain. Always needing more data... She then asked her question, inquiring as to a 'nickname' of some sort. Rubic was, at least, familiar with the terminology used, accessing his memory banks for the correct response. “This unit may be referred to as 'Rubic',” The android responded, just as her form flickered and teleported in front of him, a powerful kick lashing out towards him. Without missing a moment or detail, he raised an arm, the blow impacting against his tough armor plating rather than is slightly more sensitive head and visual unit. She then brought her fists down towards him for a hammerblow, the android using his opposite arm to absorb the force of that blow as well, but a Saiyan's strength was never to be underestimated. While his head unit was still intact, he found himself descending towards the ground, his flight systems trying desperately to cease his descent. All in all, they were successful, keeping Rubic airborne just a few feet above the ground, rather than his metallic body impacting with the dirt. A basic strategy, it seemed, to bring him back down to the ground. Perhaps she was far more used to battling with her feet touching the ground. How inefficient. Still, with her above him, he was in optimal range for another of his gadgets. A series of panels opened up on his back, revealing a set of missile pods stored there, which fired their deadly cargo towards the female warrior, each missile screeching like an eagle in flight as they arched around Rubic and flew towards the woman combatant. He needed to see just how adept she was at maneuvering to get a better gauge of her capabilities. WC: 341 TWC: 1383 |

"This unit huh? You can't call yourself I? Does that break some one of the three laws? I'm totally not trying to offend your culture, I'm just asking." She increased her voice to something of a shout as the distance betwixt them grew greater, though managing to keep her voice as casual as possible. She was fully aware that Rubic wasn't going to respond with any sort of joke or go along with her jovial manner, but Hell, she thought she was funny. What else mattered? As the android halted himself just before hitting the ground, Pan squinted. Close enough. She watched as he opened up a set of rear panels and fired off more than a couple of missiles at her. Her eyes widened and she backed up in mid-air, attempting to give herself room to block or defend against the attacks. She lurched to the side as the first one screamed by her, wincing slightly at the near miss, but was hit by the next one, causing her to smash backwards into the very next one. She managed to recover herself as she saw two more flying towards her, contorting her body almost unnaturally in order to evade them, her legs spreading into a full set of the splits as her upper body dropped forward, using only her own ki to keep her aloft. The two missiles soared where her legs and head would've been, giving her only an instant's rest, not even enough time to remove herself from her current contorted position. The final one came straight for her face, and it was all she could do to punch it slightly out of trajectory, suppressing a wince as it exploded just a few feet away. She looked down at her opponent and a slight glare reached her eyes. Of course, she didn't need to be on the ground in order to fight Rubic. She just needed him there. She gathered up her ki as best she could then finally raised two fingers, causing a massive explosion just underneath the desolate field on which she and Rubic had begun their battle. Let's see how you handle that one, gear head. WC: 362 TWC: 1k+ |

After his barrage of missiles, it looked like his opponent was beginning to feel the effects of pain and fatigue. Judging by the way her energy patterns were flowing within her body, her muscles clenching and relaxing, this spar would soon be over due to his calculations. However, there was something slightly amiss that the android had never seen before as she raised two fingers. Rubic followed the direction of energy back towards the ground where he was and-- In a violent explosion, Rubic was hurled into the air from the sheer ki being expelled upwards. Even as Rubic's emergency defense systems kicked in, the sheer wave of power was quite impressive, sheering off both of Rubic's arms in the process, eliminating a large portion of the android's offensive capabilities. But unlike organics, Rubic did not need his arms to keep fighting. As the dust cloud resulting from Pan's attack began to clear, Rubic shot towards the Saiyan like a bullet, his arms no where to be found as his damaged flight systems fought to send him towards the Saiyan as fast as possible. A single ton of matter accelerated to a sufficient speed would be body breaking, according to Rubic's calculations. Even for a Saiyan. And thus, Rubic charged towards the female warrior, seeking to slam his head and shoulder into her gut. WC: 224 TWC: 1607 |
