Rubic never really experienced the strange and enigmatic emotion known as 'boredom.' Indeed, if nothing else, the android was incredibly gifted at keeping his processors always working on something, such as reading maintenance reports, analysing combat data, providing training advice to Minosha, and a whole whirlwind of various and menial tasks that kept the robot's 'brain' occupied to one degree or another. For the most part, if Rubic's set of chores were complete, he would find someone to spar against on the ship or with the gem of telepathy. Such was his chore at this particular moment, preparing for a battle against a warrior within the ethereal. As Rubic began to interface his consciousness with the strange gem, a long and complicated process of interfacing the digital and precise with the spiritual and abstract, he soon found himself in the astral realm, surrounded in an arctic region.

Atop a great glacier, Rubic looked out towards the expansive sea around, noting the various penguins swimming or hunting in the waters around the giant glacier. The cold was registering at normal arctic levels for Earth’s southern polar cap, adding a layer of difficulty to the battle and necessitating Rubic generate a slightly higher heat level in order to compensate for the cool air. Once he accomplished this first task, he activated his combat systems and subroutines, preparing for a combat session with a strange warrior…

Vash’s feet slid around when his consciousness finally regained its balance. He struggled for footing. What the hell, he thought before looking down and noticing that he was standing on a block of ice.

This was the chance you always take when using the sparring gem of telepathy. Not knowing where you would end up or who you would be facing off against in a bout of strength. The last couple of times the rock had called to him, a warm heat resonating from it accompanied with a glowing, almost like a beacon. But those instances were more akin to a meeting up of like minded souls. This particular situation was just Vash being bored and using the gem to escape reality if only for a little bit.

He studied his surroundings. A beautiful deep blue painted across the sky. Underneath him of course was a massive glacier bobbing around in the water with all kinds of wildlife doing their own thing in the ocean. That is when he noticed something he hadn’t seen before. An actual robot. It stuck out like a sore thumb. Could this really be his opponent for this time spent in the astral realm?

Never the less, he wasn’t going to underestimate it. The last few sparring opportunities he had led to him losing and escaping back to the real world just in the nick of time.

He spread his feet apart and began to power up, his crimson aura circling around him causing his duster to kick up wildly behind him. “My name is Vash,” the demon called out. “Let’s get this show on the road.”

Soon enough, amongst the tundra that surrounded them, Rubic identified his opponent. He was a tall, almost lanky, individual with a crimson suit on his person. A pistol rested on his hip, though Rubic detected metal on his person, betraying the presence of some kind of armor hidden beneath that coat he wore. Golden spectacles adorned his face, obscuring his eyes. And yet, Rubic still saw and heard him.

FACIAL RECOGNITION CONFIRMED
VOICE RECOGNITION CONFIRMED

As if the android saw something that motivated him to action, the robot bolted, his legs moving so quickly it was almost hard to keep track. He charged, moving in towards the demon, Vash, that had plagued him and Trunks long ago back in the Next Dimension upon King Kai’s planet. He was some kind of demon or spirit, a malicious one if memory served. Now was not the time for small talk, but time for action and battle. Rubic hurled himself towards the demon, his shoulder dipping in order to slam it into the red-garbed warrior, seeking to keep him on the defensive and prevent him from utilizing any of those strange techniques he knew of. No time for preparation or courtesy, only unbridled action.

The massive hulking hunk of metal moved quicker than Vash thought it would. That’s when it hit him. The memories of the minotaur flooded into his brain, recalling a certain trip to King Kai’s planet Of course, Vash had been incarcerated, but the Minotaur, Kimahla, had used Vash’s likeness to torment the young Saiyan prince, Trunks, then. And this robot was there as well. Kimahla’s memories proved that this robot was definitely not one to be underestimated.

I guess you are good for something, aren’t you Kimahla, Vash spoke to the minotaur in his mind.

Heheh, I guess so, Demon, Kimahla responded. You better watch out though, you’re about to be--- the minotaur’s sentence was cut off. Most likely due to the chunk of metal being thrusted into Vash’s chest.

Vash slid backwards as his eyes refocused on what was going on. The robot in front of him and lurched forward and drove its shoulder right into him. His feet dug into the ground to brace him, causing his momentum to slow down before shooting him off the edge of the glacier.

Learning how to block out Kimahla was definitely going to be a task, and one that he would like to conquer sooner, rather than later. But there was a fight going on before him. That needed to wait.

In retaliation, Vash jumped into the air, charging energy into his right fist. He threw his punch forward, aiming for the same shoulder that had just been dug into him, and released the energy a few inches before its hopeful impact.

There was no quarter allowed, given, or expected. Rubic had to keep his combat systems running at full power in order to try and fight off the power demon that he recognized. Even back at King Kai's planet, Vash had proven himself incredibly powerful, and so, Rubic was operating at full capacity. His body was currently a torrent of moving energy, each systems in his body receiving almost an overwhelming charge from his personal energy supply, making his movements more precise, fluid, and quick.

Just as Vash closed the distance towards the android, Rubic spun to the left, the ki infused punch narrowly missing the robotic combatant as Rubic's armored elbow attempted to dig straight into the back of his opponent. This was soon followed up, as Rubic completed his spin maneuver, using the round momentum to swing a kick into his opponent's shoulder—the one opposite of the punch. It was obviously certain that simple techniques and fighting maneuvers were not going to work on this massive giant of metal. Rubic's combat library was completely open, his robotic brain quickly scanning for fighting styles and methods that were familiar that he could exploit and counteract.

Vash knew not to underestimate the robot, and that is exactly what he did. And it backfired completely. His blast punch had whiffed entirely, leaving himself wide open for a counter. His body went a little numb as pain exploded into his back with the retaliation of the robot. He let out a yelp as he fell forward. Flailing about quickly, he was only just able to throw his arm up and block a kick that was coming for his shoulder. Sure, his bicep took the brunt of the damage, but it was a lot better than allowing an undefended brutal attack strike him.

This robot wasn’t fucking around, and Vash was going to have to step his game up. Leaping a few yards away created a bit of distance between the two, as Vash turned his body in mid air. He faced his opponent with both hands stretched out in front of him. His finger tips lit up with ki as the energy flowed from the very pit of his chest out to each appendage. Then, in a glorious display of energy mastery, a torrent of energy blasts exploded from his finger tips as his flash bomb technique made their way towards their mark.

When Rubic saw his opponent gathering energy into his hands and finger tips, the android halted his assault and stood his ground, rerouting power from his impressive hydraulic systems and arms into his defense array. A pair of nodes emerged from his shoulders, vibrating furiously as they created a strange shield of energy that surrounded the robot, protecting him. The blasts from the Flash Bomb attack impacted against the shield, losing much of their previous force and devastating power, the few that managed to punch through barely damaging Rubic's external armor. It seemed this demon was capable of manipulating energy as well. So be it.

Rubic's arms quickly transformed into a set of gun barrels, much like gattling guns as the android widened his stance. Then, the barrels began to spin, picking up speed before they began to loose a punishing torrent of energy towards Vash, like an energy machine gun. Blast after carefully targeted blast was hurled towards Vash's position, hoping to take the opponent down before he had another chance to go on the offensive.

Vash stared in amazement as his Flash Bomb technique collided with a type of energy shield the robot had chose to emit from his shoulders. Tricky tricky, Vash thought, there’s more than meets the eye with this one. He’s almost like a robot in disguise.

The fist like things on the end of the robot’s arms quickly transformed into gun barrels. Vash would recognize them on the spot. Then they began to spin. Uh oh, Vash said to himself. A barage of energy began to pour out of the tips directly for the demon. A bit stumbly at first, Vash began to run parallel to the robot as the energy blasts collided with the ground behind him, kicking up all kinds of dust and debris. Vash was quick, but the aiming of the robot seemed to be quicker as the energy spray caught up with him and he could no longer out run them. He dove forward with all of his might, but it wasn’t enough. Several of the energy blasts collided into his chest but then stopped. It seemed the robot had ‘run out’ of shots for at least the time being.

Vash hit the ground and rolled forward, quick to get back on his feet. He could feel that there just wasn’t a whole lot more time left, and that the call of the real world would soon be pulling him out of the astral realm. “It was very nice to meet you,” Vash called out. He didn’t know what the hell to call this thing, so at least for the time being he wouldn’t come up with a name.

With the waning moments dieing down, Vash held his palm out, and shot a massive ball of energy at his opponent as a parting gift.

The flurry and fury of the energy shots seemed to catch the demon off guard, causing him to go running in order to avoid the onslaught of light emerging from the rotating barrels of death. The android continued to study his opponent’s movements as he fired, targeting reticles continually updating targeting information and velocities for the android to enact. Of course, each opponent Rubic had ever faced always had some kind of trick up their sleeve, and at this moment, Rubic was waiting for Vash to pull out his own.

However, it seemed that each time his demonic opponent attempted to perform some kind of maneuver or counter attack, he was overwhelmed by the volume of energy blasts headed his way, each one digging deep into flesh and fabric. Eventually, the man hit the ground, and though he was quick to regain his footing, it was sign enough for Rubic to cease his attack and attempt a new strategy. The barrels receded back into Rubic’s arms, the android preparing a charge until the man began to disappear, stating something about having a nice meeting. And then, that was when a ball of energy was hurled in his direction, the resulting explosion causing Rubic to disconnect from the ethereal realm as well.

Strange. That opponent was quite skilled. He would have to review the combat data just in case of another meeting…
