Dry. That is the word that the Paladin explained the events of Earth with their justice system. Even if he saw his own childhood within the Earthlings, he saw so much less of that and more of the hypocritical justice system of this planet. Racism was rampant and was the cause of more than several crimes, but he could not say there was not a but of that within his own self. He was not even sure if Ag'nul Zon was part of those thoughts anymore. However, there was one thing that Quon could not stand: injustice. Those that had taken justice as a means to do what they wanted would be punished by the Paladins, but he had taken matters into his own hands days ago. Criminals that had gotten away from this planet's police were punished by the Paladin Unquis. The corrupt cops were dealt with and the courts that had started their corruption were being investigated. However, there was one individual that Quon's search had brought to his attention that needed to be looked further into. He was an indivudual dressed in cloths not all too different from Earthlings', however, he had silver hair. Not too many on Earth had that, an in addition, there was something not very Earthling-like about him. Well, Quon found a patter to his movements, and sent that person a message, telling him to meet him in the Plains away from the humans, for Paladin business of training him in sword play. The plains had nowhere to hide for miles. Low grass swayed in Spring winds as the Paladin sat in a meditative position. Twin blades in their scabbards lay to his sides as his long, black trench coat had little sway motion. He wore a simple black shirt and pants, with a pair of black boots. His power, as he waited, was nothing too significant. However, as his senative network of sensing picked up the other, he was keen to let the other know that he was not going to be playing around. 'Karas', as his Avalon team had informed him, was not 'good'. His blood work, what little they had, taught him nothing. However, it was Karas' involvement with the Paladins that most disturbed him. "So, I assume that the Paladin registry has you're name, then, Karas? I was told by my superiors that you are to be tested and trained for sword play. It has been, in their opinion, too long since you visited the Dojo," Quon stood and narrowed his eyes over at Karas as he took a position with the sccabards placed over the back of his coat. Underneath, one could see why he used the coat: diamons-shaped plates were under the coat, one one could assume that the rest of his cloths had such a design between the fabric. The plates made little noise as he took his position. The Paladin only barely waited for Karas to get himself ready: a lesson he would have to teach the hard way. His swords sailed through the air as he struck with twin over-head chops, each at the same time. They aimed to slice his collar bone to the ground, with the power of a lion that pounced on a gazelle. His elbow made a swift movement right after the attack as it flew up to strike at Karas' chin. The Paladin did not rest on the attack as He used the pommels of his swords to strike blows that could easily crush in a mere human's ribs as he would show this Paladin all that he had learned of swords in his hundred years of working with them. The pommel strike was followed with a swift trip motion with his left leg. However, he was not done. Again, with no wasted time, he pounced on Karas as his hand, still gripped the sword handles, struck twin jabs with the power of an angry grizzly at Karas' stomach. He ended the attack with the Paladin long sword that he wielded stabbed at Karas, in a non-lethal area to pin him to the ground before Quon finished the assault with five vicious and quick punches aimed at Karas' face. "Listen, Karas, I am here to show you swordsmanship, and that involves ataining scars. My master was brutal in teaching me, and he has made me one of the most powerful. I am known as the Paladin Unquis, or Fang Paladin." The true meaning of that might not be known to Karas; he actually hoped he would not have to show him that meaning. Words: 764

Karas rested on his new bed, letter in hand as he studied it yet again for what must have been the millionth time. It was a challenge from one of the Paladins back on Avalon, and the reason Karas had returned to Earth after so much time away from the planet. His new ship, the Star Seeker, was proof that everything he had been doing was away from the planet. In one swift move he brought his free hand up and crushed the piece of paper between both palms only to follow up with a quick toss. The paper wad fell into the small trashcan he kept next to his new desk perfectly. ”Shouldn’t you get going? It’s almost time.” The floating, disembodied demon Dirge asked Karas. The later simply sighing. ”As much as I don’t want to, guess I should huh?” Forcing himself up off his bed and grabbed his belt, giving it a good flick so that it would swing completely around his waist and click together at the belt buckle. He repeated the same motion with his second belt, allowing this one to slide down and hang off his hips at an angle. Knowing this would be a fight against a Paladin he opened one of the several red boxes on his first belt, releasing the sword stored inside as a trailing whip of crimson flames that took the solid form of a large heavy weapon. Grabbing it in his right hand he easily lifted the blade over his shoulder, something a normal person wouldn’t be able to do with just one hand. Walking through the ship all of his crew kept their eyes on him. Some of them had seen him in battle before but it was never anything serious like this, it was almost odd for them to see the hybrid going off to battle so serious. As soon as he was off the ship they all made their way to the ship’s viewing room, making sure to pull up the location of their captain’s battle for their entertainment. Karas, however, arrived at the battlegrounds. Waiting for him there was a youth dressed in an all-black ensemble. The hybrid could only think that it was a good thing he mixed it up with his look, breaking up his black with some silver. The man went on about the Paladin registry and getting tested because he hadn’t been to the Dojo in a while. Something he found weird considering he had just been there not that long ago. Before he had time to respond Karas was getting attacked by the man, though thankfully his telepathy he was able to see the attack in his mind before it was even made. The hybrid stepped back in one fluid motion, watching the swords pass in front of him in a cross shaped pattern just as he foresaw in his vision. The next attack, an elbow aiming for the side of Karas’ face, was blocked by the flat of the silver haired warrior’s own sword. In his mind he was wondering how much the fighter’s elbow must hurt after hitting the metal of his blade. The next attack actually struck Karas in the form of the bottom of a sword handle being slammed into his chest. Getting knocked off his feet by a follow-up sweep to his legs Karas hit the ground with a thud, only to roll over his head and back to his feet as the unnamed opponent thrust his blade at him. Back on his feet, Karas was able to flash away and avoid his opponent’s final attack. ”So the guild sent me a tutor?” Karas had proven he could use a sword. Albeit in his own way, but he was still skilled enough at it to know how to fight with the blade. ”Well, let me demonstrate to you just how skilled a swordsman I am.” The metal of the hybrid’s weapon began to grow red hot, flames erupting around it in the process. Giving it a small toss, Karas rotated the weapon in his hand so that he was holding it in a back-handed fashion that tucked the weapon behind his back. His aura flared around him as shot forward, flying past his enemy while making an attempt to slice through his target. Digging his foot into the ground stopped the hybrid’s high-speed motion, allowing him to use his momentum to spin in place which he used to his advantage and slashed his sword at his foe once again. With his arm tucked into his chest his free hand rested on top of his elbow, palm open as a blast of blue flames was launched. A second blast if identical, flaming blue ki was shot from the hybrid's palm. Following the exact same path as the first while aiming for the exact same target. Sliding a step back, Karas took up a defensive stance where he pointed towards the ground with his left arm extended in front of him and his right arm bent above his head. His sword still held in a backhanded style.

Quon had not even tapped into his vast resource of blade knowledge. A wetting of his blade, as one might say. Karas, it seemed, was a coward. He dodged and ducked away like a child and avoided the use of his own weapon. The Paladin merely grunted as Karas was struck by several of his lesser lethal attacks, but then he went on the attack. He watched carefully as Karas allowed fire to engulf his blade before he attacked: Karas' strength was not at the same level as Quon's, but the attack went into the air and gathered some strength. The Paladin sighed before he placed one sword to the side before he slashed his other sword up and slashed at Karas' sword to knock the attack away. While this likely threw off Karas' balance due to the strength behind the block, Quon moved with his foe, who had to take the time to land and then spin, it seemed, as the sword slashed from a distance as Karas had to sail over Quon. The sword stung, but not very far. The Paladin's naturally tough skin, coupled with the plated armor, left little damage, and the Inferno blade's fire left even less damage than Karas might imagine. It still hurt, but not to the extent that it would hinder the Paladin's movements. In fact, Karas even tried ki attacks. In a sword match? It dared to even use Advanced! Quon's eyes darkened as a little buckler shield slapped away the first Bing Bang attack like a young man using a fly swatter. Swatted away to be ignored for the rest of existence. The Paladin then pivoted to the side of the second ball of energy as he spun with a grim look on his face, "This was not to be used with energy, boy. It is a test of the blade." His body flared with motion as the twin swords attacked, this time separately. His foe had taken some kind of stance, the Blade Master's Stance, if he remembered correctly. It was a trivial stance in this situation. His swords flashed, one right after the other as he sought to slash into the upper chest of the 'Paladin'. This was followed by a swift snap kick aimed at Karas' stomach. But Quon was not finished. No, no, he was just getting started. His blades sang as they whistled through the air with his high-speed style of combat as he shifted gears. His body swiftly brought him in a highly offensive attack. His swords flashed in the air as he slashed his right blade at Karas' sword-arm shoulder and then stabbed his left sword at Karas' left rib cage to bite within it. The final attack to this combination was a flat-palm thrust aimed at Karas' face, with these plated gloves that would only add to the damage Karas would take. But he was not done. Unquis then jumped from the ground, the only breather that he would give Karas. But this attack would not be as held-back as the other attacks had been, as he pulled the blade behind his back and then slashed down at Karas. The attack flashed with the power of an ox against weak wood. The ground under would create a large crater where he landed, from the mere speed on power placed upon the ground. His blade could even bite into the Earth and cause damage that he might he forced to pay for later, but there was little time that he had to think about this. Words: 592

Another lecture. Like Karas needed another one of those. His opponent had went off about how this was supposed to be a test of his skills with a sword and not about his use of ki based attacks. Karas didn’t care really, it was just one person’s opinion. He’d justify himself after he’d handled his foe’s next wave of attacks. Still holding his stance he waited, watching his foe come forward with a slash from each sword and a kick. The hybrid used his stance to his advantage, allowing him to halt both of his foe’s blades with a single swipe of his own. The following kick, however, landed on its mark and kicked the hybrid back a good foot or two. Karas dodged Unquis’ next set of attacks much in the same way as he did with most attacks he thought would deal significant damage or hinder him further down the line in combat and vanished, “sliding” from his spot in front of his Paladin “tutor” and reappearing some short distance away. He watched, Unquis jumped into the air and pulled his blade behind his back. The gave Karas a chance to prepare himself for his defense and reverse his sword’s position in his hand, moving it from the backhanded style he had been using to the tradition way that his foe was holding his weapons. His sword arm was moved above his head, his free hand being raised to aid in supporting the inevitable crushing weight that was about to befall the demonic Saiyan. Steel fell against steel, the pressure of the attack and the force of gravity causing the ground beneath Karas to collapse and form a crater around him. With a good push Karas broke their lock, tossing his adversary to the side. ”You can bitch all you want but the point of the matter is, my sword is an extension of my body. I’ll keep fighting in my style so don’t think I’m going to keep from using ki attacks just because you want to test my swordplay.” Karas rotated his right shoulder, trying to work the stress off his joint from the clash of power they had just participated in. His left hand produced light pressure to help loosen him up as he stated his logic to his opponent. Logic which a “true” swordsman would agree to. Now he was back on the offensive. Giving his sword arm one good swing he made sure he was loose enough to swing his sword freely, getting into a running position as he swung his blade behind him. His aura flared around him again, rocketing him forward as he pushed off at his foe. Mid-flight he rotated his weapon so that the edge of the blade would slice through his target on his pass-by. However, unlike last time he stopped his propulsion when his blade made contact with foe, using his momentum to push the blade forward with the built up force to try and slice through his enemy’s weapon and armor.

Karas seemed to be on the total defensive now. That only showed how much he understood of the sword- or maybe that was reflective of something else? The Paladin merely shook his head as he watched growled, "Ineffective, recruit." His blade flashed as Karas returned his Ultra Slash with a second one that Quon formed an X with his twin blade to block, and then pushed the partial demon aside. It was then that he felt what Karas was. Not only was he Saiyan, but there was something else in there. Quon's inner deity chuckled before it whispered, "Kill it like the rest." Well, he would have to careful, but the deity's words were strong. Quon snarled as he pushed his blades up and against Karas' own before he jumped back, but only for a moment. With his speed, he was right back into Karas' face as his blades flashed in twin succession, one flashed at his chest, in a non-leathal area as the other slashed at his non-sword arm. "Weak attacks mean a weak man. You know Gnar disapproves of weakness!" Quon spoke before he kicked at Karas' gut to throw back the other. He then flipped his swords gracefully into a reverse grip as he crouched and held the oh-so-familiar position of the Kamehameha. "Ka..." His eyes narrowed as the energy first pulsed in his hands as he held them behind him, "Me...ha..." The energy did not raditate from his hands like the Super Kamehameha did, but the light within his hands was orange, "Meee..." The Paladin thrust his arms forward and roared, "HAAAA!" The beam fired was in the shape of the Kamehameha, but the color was not that of Muten Roshi's technique. It was an orange and yellow attack, with the colors of fire, rather than the blue wave. The beam was also far more powerful than the usual beam, and caught anything in it's wake with a burning intensity. The beam was aimed for Karas' form, and it would overtake the man in moments if he was not careful. But he brought this upon himself for not obeying the rules of this test. Quon was still not finished with Karas. He tracked his foes carefully with a web of sensory that he kept up and brought fury into his blades as he slashed the one in his right arm powerfully at Karas' location right after the Kamehameha was fired to attack him from ranged with the sword, the Ki Slash ability. It ripped easily through earth at Quon's power, and it could easily tear down buildings. He was confident that even Karas, if struck by it, would survive. Wounded pride, maybe, but he would survive. The Paladin was still not done, as he rushed forward and placed both weapons into their sheaths as he threw forward a powerful hook to Karas's chin with the power of oxen before he spun and ducked into Karas' close-quarters space and threw his left hand at his gut that would crush the lungs of a lesser warrior. He made a swift punch, then, to Karas's chin with an upper-cut that could split a wave in half. He stayed in that space as he growled, "I've honed my body into combat and killing for a century with nothing else on mind. With these movements, did you really think you'd stay a Paladin?" His word held weight in the Order now. Unquis could make Karas like a new recruit if he wanted, maybe even get him kicked out of the Order. He never saw much on Karas' activity for the Paladins, on enforcing law and order. "Shape up, or I'll have you start from the very beginning again. I'll have you take the test the re-join the order if I have to," the Paladin snarled. It didn't help, however, that the truth about Karas' race influenced this Paladin paragon. Words: 637

This whole fight was getting on Karas’ nerves but his foe’s comment as well. He had just dodged his opponent’s blades once again, narrowly avoiding having his jacket and shirt sliced. His telepathy aiding him yet again, and now the Paladin was lecturing him about Gnar’s teachings. About how his weak attacks made him a weak man and that Gnar didn’t tolerate weakness. If Karas didn’t know he needed to keep his cool for this fight he’d have already blown up and started cussing the arrogant Paladin out. Finally, Karas found something he knew he could use to turn around the entire fight. He opponent began charging up ki in his hands, making the name of the all-to familiar attack stretch like many before him had. A technique he had studied himself once under the teaching of Master Roshi. ”Wait for the absolute last second….” His train of thought cut as his moment finally came. The Paladin launched his beam of ki, a beam which Karas used every ounce of muscle in his legs to launch himself up into the air above it and dodge the attack altogether. The hybrid landed back on the ground, an over-head flip in the air as he fell, just as the ki attack ended. Right as he landed a blade made of pure ki was launched at him, slashing him across the chest. The good part was that his shirt, made of the same material most Saiyan armors used and took the blunt of the attack. The next wave of attacks were all un-armed attacks, the final uppercut launched Karas into the air which resulted in his flipping over to land back on his feet. Now he was stuck listening to Mr. “High-and-mighty” go on about how he had harnessed his body through a century of combat and that if Karas didn’t shape up he’d push him until he was of an acceptable warrior. Even if it meant re-taking the test to become a Paladin. It looked like Karas had been rewarded with a brief pause in their battle. Stabbing his sword into the ground he turned his head to the side and spat, a small trickle of blood left his lips and landed on the grass of their battlefield. ”Something tells me you’re more pissed about this.” The hybrid let go of the hilt of his sword for a moment, the rolled up portion of his right sleeve exposed all of his arm from the elbow down and made what happened next easier to see. In seconds His entire forearm and hand had transformed into its demonic state of black leather-like scales covered by red plate-like feathers with green and purple coloring at the tips. ”It’s always the same. No matter, be it full or half-blood I’m still a warrior all the same.” Karas grabbed his blade again, pulling it from the ground in one swift slash through the air. Launching forward Karas began attacking, aiming for the most vital of spots that he could possibly hit. Seven slashes, each one aiming for a vital vein location starting with his foe’s jugular and ending with a slash to the Four Cervical Vertebra. His final slash also acted as a disguise, allowing him to drop a small grenade in front of his foe which exploded the moment he leaped back. His body took the second stance of the Blademaster, flipping his sword in his hand so he was holding it backhanded once more.

(Pretend this says King Cold as the poster instead of Castiel <_<) RP Bonus goes to Quon. Karas started strong and had he continued in that manner, the RP Bonus would have gone to him. But these last posts didn't seem to flow as well as the first and I would like to see more detail in the defenses. Rather than just saying that Karas has dodged an attack, indicate how. In the case of a telepathy dodge, for example, it could be a flash of precognitive vision or an unconscious danger sense that causes him to twist out of the way etc. Quon's defenses could also use some more descriptiveness, but on the whole they were presented better and this is ultimately why the RP Bonus goes to him. Karas, you've taken 5 special attacks, a ki slash and a quick attack, which puts you at about 80% vitality remaining. Quon, you took one special attack with a 75% damage inferno sabre, which puts you at about 98.5% vitality remaining. Three attacks with criticals landed in Quon's last attack and the results are as follows. ![]() One critical hit was successful. Karas, the ki drain for your next six actions is increased by 25%. |

Apparently Karas was not taking this seriously enough. The Paladin frowned before his eyes narrowed at the hybrid as he revealed his arm. Well, that arm was no surprise to Quon, thanks to the Paladin database he was provided with. But his opponent had spoken something, and it did not help his cause. Nor did it make any sense. But, Karas seemed the type to try and keep it cool. He could easily have destroyed him by now, but his part in this was not to judge or execute. Karas himself, however, almost had it coming. This was a serious evaluation, and so far, the marks were at sub-par standard levels. That was, until, this next attack came. He recognized the nature of the attack as it came, and jumped back a few feet and landed with one hand on the ground and crouched as he then used Karas's distance between them to pushed on the ground and push into the air above the lighting fast strikes. The Nine Headed Dragon Strike, when used like that, could be potent, but the attempt to Quon was too straight-forward. However, something flew into the air- a grenade? The explosion caused him to cough, but his armor assisted in putting off the blow's full effects. Steam seemed to slowly come from within the black coat as his power rose, but he barely noticed. A gift from the deity, a bit of his mad power added to Quon's. Unquis growled as he came down from the jump and slammed one leg towards the crown of Karas' head like a mighty tsunami as his body seemed to flicker with the ax kick. His body then spun as he threw his fist out to strike at Karas' head, as he aimed to break the hybrid's left cheek with the force of an earthquake. He finished the combination with a swift jab like lightning to the potentially broken cheek before the blades were drawn once more. At such a close range, Karas would have a hard time fighting as Quon snapped, "You obviously don't take this serious enough." His body would stay close to Karas, and launch his next attack, with the twin swords slicing at the same time in a cross motion as he sought to bring out the serious sword play from this man. But he suspected there was little that would bring that out unless he transformed and truly pressed him. But, the Paladin would hold against that. In that state, he would be more liable to try and sever an arm to prove his point. "Quon, kill it. You know you want to. His being a Paladin or not..." The strangely smooth voice of the deity rang through his thoughts for a moment before he shook his head and snapped back to attention. He would show Karas, then, that this test was over. The blades went into their sheaths again, for the moment, before the very feeling of the wolf side snared over him. The alien seemed to charged straight for Karas with the aura of the werewolf within, golden fur streaking around it before the true Paladin attacked Karas from the left side, as punches rained on his opponent's left kidney. But the Paladin was not done. His sword flashed from their sheaths and slashed at Karas' side once more, one aimed for between ribs with precision as the other went to cut with Karas' left arm, each with the strength and cunning of a tiger. He would not stand for Karas to mock the very Order that he had joined. Had he taken to joining the Paladins as a joke? He would force Karas to learn that there was no such thing as a joke in joining the Paladins. Just as Karas had done, Quon jumped back as he left a nice little surprise of his own. This hybrid had made this more serious than had need called for. The Stasis Grenade left at Karas' feet was a reminder. Words: 668

Karas knew, officially now, he was completely outclassed in this fight. His opponent had dodged the best attack he could launch with the sword he was using and returned to the slaughtering of the hybrid. Karas didn’t even have the time to react with his blade, his opponent was back to throwing punches that Karas was too slow to dodge. Individually they weren’t anything all that serious but when he was taking the fists one after the other in repetition the damage really stacked up. Swords were drawn again in a quick flash of blades, slicing Karas’ undershirt in a large cross pattern while drawing a faint trickle of blood from the cuts. The swords were put away once more for Karas to be made into a punching bag once more, a wolf shaped aura covering his foe’s fists. The last series of attacks was another attack involving his opponent’s swords, one aimed for his ribs while the other tried to slice his left arm. When his enemy was done he mimicked Karas’ last move and jumped back, just in time for an explosive of his own to go off at the hybrid’s feet. ”You want me to be serious? Fine, teach me to be a better swordsman.” Karas stood there, a bleeding mess of shredded clothes and bruises. His breathing was on the heavy side. ”I know I’m not going to win against you, I’ll bite my pride and surrender. You want me to be some perfect swordsman, train me and make me better.” There was a fire in the silver haired warrior’s eyes as he stared down his foe.

Karas' fate Death. Ooc: Karas, the reason you are dead is simple: Quon hates the Saiyans and demons. He is staying in-character by killing you. To him , any with demon blood (no matter the %), are pre-judged for death. Its nothing against you, it would just be out of character not to kill you, even if you are a Paladin. |
