Two weeks into his journey away from everyone and everything he knew, outside of his loyal troops who resisted any entreaties to leave his vessel and service, Rem had to take a break. The ships food stores were beginning to run low, and minerals and such were needed to be taken on so the ships engine could transmute those minerals and base elements into usable fuel and such for the ship. For the last day the ships sensor officers had been scanning each planet, moon, and asteroid that had come within range of them for the possible minerals they would need. It had taken the better part of a day for a planet to come up as a possible candidate.

“What do the ships computers have about this world?” Rem asked the sensors officer, not recognizing the name.

“Not much.” The Cactaylismian responded with a bit of a shrug. Most of the crew on board were Namekians, veterans of the Insurrection earlier in the last year. A few, however, were people who had either learned of the Justice League, or Rem specifically, due to his travels and actions and had put forth requests to join his crew. Few of them were accepted- few were even considered in all honesty. The ships computer sifted through the various resumes of those who wanted to join the Justice League Auxiliary, pinging only the best and most qualified for his personal consideration. The lismian was one of those, having been a follower of the Lord that Rem had backed with Kulars help back in the day when they had tried t save that planet and its people from the corruption and darkness that had seized it. Although they had failed, they had gained much respect from those who knew the truth of what they had done- rather than the lies that had been spread in the wake of their failure.

The Lismian, his name was Goeffrey, had been a pirate for almost ten years before reforming himself, realizing that he was part of the problem. “It's apparently a Kanassan colony world.” The man continued, his eyes scanning over the computer screen before him, checking to see what it said. “Less than 500 inhabitants on the entire world. After the initial colony ship sent, oh, it appears 70 years ago- there has been no follow up ships with additional colonists or supplies. It's strange, almost as if they aren't bothering to even put up any real effort to colonize the place.”

Rem drug one finger across the crown of his head, scratching an itch as he fought the confusion over the situation. Who halfheartedly formed a new colony, and then completely abandoned it for 70 years. Strange, indeed. “Well, it has the resources we need, and there aren’t many people to get in the way- so let's take this chance, who knows when the next one will come up.” The ships stores really were low. On a full load, they could travel for the better part of two months without needing to take on new supplies and minerals. Rem had been in a hurry to get away when he had left Namek, however, and hadn't bothered to resupply in quite some time as they had been staying mostly docked on friendly worlds for the past few months- which explained why they were so low after such a short period of time.

Geoffrey nodded, touched one finger to the ear bud he wore, and started talking in low tones to the rest of the bridge crew. Within moments the helmsmen was pressing buttons on his console, changing the computers orders so that they would soon pull out of hyperspace and take an inbound approach to the strange, new world.

Within half an hour the ship began to approach the world, sinking easy into a descending orbit. It would be possible to get all of the resources they'd need from orbit, using shuttles, but considering the level of population on this world, it would simply be easiest to go ahead and land. “Make sure to set us down far away from their settlement.” Rem announced loudly, knowing the helmsmen and the scan man would be working together to get it done. They each nodded, and set about plotting a descent trajectory.

Soon enough, the ships angle changed, and before the inertial dampeners kicked in, Rem could feel that they were descending. Long minutes passed and the world grew closer and closer. Midway towards their destination, the ship gave an odd jerk that Rem had not expected. He would have trusted that his crew had it under control, except for the fact that there was a gasp of surprise out of the helmsmen. Rem's brow furrowed, and he watched as the other did... something at his console. Then, there was another jerk and Rem rose to his feet. “What's going on?” He demanded, taking three quick strides over to the helmsman.

“Sir, I... have no idea. The ship isn't responding. Our trajectory is shifting, but it's as if we're stuck in a gravity well, it's not... going in the right direction it should be. We're being pulled, sir.”

“Pulled?” Rem asked, musing. He wasn't all that worried at the moment... But, he was beginning to get the itching of anxiousness. “Is the gravity on this world that strong?” Rem asked.

The helmsmen shook his head in negation, “No, sir. Gravity requirements are in the first round of disqualifying attributes for possible worlds. Any world with a gravity THIS strong would not have even popped up as a possibility.”

The ship was descending towards the planet below, towards some destination that they had not chosen. It was... strange.

Long, long minutes later the ship broke through the final layer of atmosphere, just a few miles above the planets surface. “Brace for impact. Shields up!” Rem shouted, hoping they weren't about to nose dive straight into the surface of the world.

Hundreds of meters above the ground, however, a strangely cleared area on a mostly forested world, the ship rotated into a landing position, then slowed. Everyone had been gripping, white knuckled their arm chairs and such, preparing for the worst. But... it wasn't that bad. The landing was almost gentle as they nestled in against the world like it was a warm blanket, and stopped...

“What in the hell..” Rem couldn't help but muse to himself. “Zell, Paryl. You're with me.” Rem shouted, and headed for the descending landing platform. Seconds later Rem had to lift his arm to block out the bright sun of midday. He looked around then... and gasped in surprise as a group of individuals appeared out of a distant copse of trees. Beside him Rem could feel Zell and Paryls hackles rising as they prepared for battle.

Rem didn't bother as he waited, watching as a dozen or so being came towards him. The great majority of them were tall beings, over six foot tall. They ranged in hue from a dirty green to a pale yellow, to a dark brown. Their bodies were segmented, almost like an insect. One of them, however, stood out from the rest simply because of how different he was.

Rem watched this figure as he approached on a gnarled old cane. Wisps of white hair poked out of the top of his head, and his elfish ears were much longer and larger than the rest. Most strangely, he was only about two and a half or so foot tall, and a faded green color in hue.

“You brought me here?” Rem asked, addressing the aged one.

“Yes.” he responded, stopping, two hands coming together atop the cane as he braced himself. “Adoy, I am. Colony Elder, I am. Expected, you were. Waited a long time for your arrival, we have.” Adoy said, lifted his cane, and indicated the other members of his race. The Kanassans. “Come, Come.” And with that the wizened Elder of this backwater world turned, and began to stroll away. Amused, intrigued, and suddenly wondering if 70 years ago someone knew he was going to one day be forced to land on this world... And wondered still further, why they would send a ship full of their people for this one, chance meeting...

Rem followed Adoy back to the village of the Kanassans. It was rather rustic. There were small huts and mid sized houses dotting a large grass covered hillside. It was rather spread out, with scores upon scores of the domiciles visible, and obviously they stretched further beyond the other side of the hill. “Explain to me, what is this? Why are your people here?” Rem asked.

“A lesson, it is.” The old alien said, turning to look up at Rem. His large, wide eyes piercing in their gaze. “Decided, it was, that we would train you. Darkness comes, Light you are. Knowledge, you require. Skills, abilities, and a warning as well.”

“A warning?” Rem asked, his head whirling. So he had been right. All of this... this entire colony, for 70 years, had stood waiting for him. What... why.

“Yes, Soon, he comes. The one without a Name. The one without a Body. The one without a Soul.” The aged alien looked at Rem, his face set, and his old hands clenched tight as if from arthritis on the head of the staff.

All of the moisture in Rem's mouth suddenly vacated him. His head whirled, and for a second he thought he was going to be sick. “No. He Can't.” Rem gasped, his voice low and dry, almost pleading. “I sealed this universe a year ago.” Reaching for straws, Rem continued; “That must be it. You're late. Or I was early. I faced him a year ago, and I sealed the universe against his touch. He can not return....” He would have continued, trying to rationalize why... that thing could not come.

“Foolishness.” Adoy scoffed, turning away and beginning to walk towards a small hut. One of the larger Kanassans helped push the door open for Adoy, but stayed outside, standing beside the door. “You should know by now that He can never be truly defeated. As close as might ever come were you, once. Now power must be regained for you to even stand against his minions.” Adoy looked at Rem for a few seconds then, paused between going into his small hut and standing outside it. The Namekian couldn't tell what the expression on his face was- He hadn't enough contact with Kanassans. Disappointment? Challenge? Interest? He couldn't know.

A few moments later the aged elder turned and retreated into the dark confines of his home. “What am I to do?” Rem asked him.

“Remember, fight, and gain power. Or die.” And then he was gone, the door closing firmly behind him.

“Remember what? Fight who?” Rem's voice was low as he asked the questions, not actually directing them at Adoy, just wondering aloud really. It seemed his answers were in fact going to be answered for him, however, as a moment later he could feel people closing in on all sides of him. The Namekian turned, not surprised at all to see Kanassans all around him.

What he was surprised to see was that they each f them had a sort of aura of power around them. Not like regular aura's of ki energy, but... like a shimmering field. Instantly the Namekian was on guard, half dropping into a fighting stance before stopping himself. These people had arranged one hell of a meeting with him, surely they weren't going to just go and...

They attacked. Rem wasn't even sure what exactly hit him, all he knew was that in the next instant he was flying backwards, then sideways, then other other way. Pain was roiling through his system, rising in a crescendo as he was jerked around through the air. IT felt as if his arms and legs were being pulled free of their sockets, felt as if thousands of pins and needles were being stuck into him every few seconds. It felt like beautifully orchestrated torture. He hated it, he raged against it, and he fought against it.

Energy gathered into the Namekian's hands and he let ki dan's loose in whatever direction he could. He had no control over his own body at that moment, so he had to hope he'd get lucky at least.

Rem's blasts sailed uselessly wide, high, and in every other direction except the ones the suddenly attacking kanassans were in. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” He roared, screamed. The pain was beginning to overwhelm his senses, his thoughts. They were apparently trying to rip him apart with some sort of strange energy. He couldn't be sure exactly how, or why... But it was happening, and he didn't have either the power or ability to stop it. Even as he charged energy and prepared to fire again he felt his arms being pulled into the sky, aiming at nothing. He opened his mouth, preparing to fire off an energy blast from it- and his neck was jerked skyward, his head straining against his spinal cord head looking straight into the air.

He strained, he pulled, he tried to break free of whatever bonds that were holding him. It was then that he remembered exactly who and what Kanassans were and were capable of. They were among the strongest of telepaths and telekenitcs in the known galaxy. By his own time in the other universe that had been all dead. Thousands of years previous Saiyans had wiped out the great majority of their race. The survivors had eventually dwindled out and died as well. Here, that obviously hadn't happened.

Rem foought against the darkness closing in around him, the pain was trying to overwhelm him for as long as he possibly could. But it was a lost cause. With nigh upon two dozen of the bastards surrounding him, using their weird mental powers to control him, it was obvious he wasn't going anywhere. “Fuck.” Rem muttered, and then fell unconscious.

Hours later the Namekian warrior awoke. He found himself in Darkness, and thought perhaps night had fully fallen. That thought quickly died away, however, as he heard no insects or birds singing as he would in the outside. In fact, he heard nothing. He found he could stand, and did so. A moment later he channeled a bit of energy onto the tip of his forefinger on his right hand, and illumination exploded around him. He saw... “Where the hell am I?” he asked, looking around and seeing nothing but red stone walls to either side, and long, unending hall before and behind him. He had no idea where he was, but assumed he had been brought here by the Kanassans. He almost wished that Paryll and Zell had come with him. At least then he could have had a chance, had some back up when they had turned against him.

“Why, though?” he asked, and ran through the conversation he had had with Adoy in his head. Nothing was making sense to him at the moment. Then, he heard something. A voice that seemed to shiver along his spine and up into his brain. “What?” he asked, turning to look behind him, but of course seeing nothing. Quickly he turned back, but still there was nothing before him. “Who's there?” Rem asked, seriously beginning to freak the fuck out...

Not seeing anything, or hearing anything else Rem decided it was time to start moving. He had to get the hell out of here. With a sigh and a grunt, he started walking, keeping the light lit so that he could see where he was going...

On Kanassa, things went about in their usual manner. People did what they did in their daily lives, mothers watched over children, and people just lived their lives. It was absurd to think that, from the sky, would fall the body of a lycanthrope lismian, who would completely shatter their entire understanding of what was plausible. That some event in that vein would occur, that would destroy their understanding of the world as they knew it, and that what they were experiencing wasn't some sort of bad dream.

However, that was exactly what had happened.

When Kularian had teleported from the Namekian village, he hadn't done so in the best way, and when he had arrived on Kanassa, he had been a bit too high from the ground, and a bit too drained from his previous combats. And thus, as he reached the planet, his power left him and his mind drifted to the realms of his subconscious. He dropped from the sky, his body speeding up as it plummeted, and, in the midst of a small village, his body struck the ground with all the force of a meteor, though he managed to avoid hitting any houses... the entire village shook with his landing.

Several of the Kanassians came to look, unsure of this strange wolven creature who had fallen upon their village. Kularian didn't move, didn't twitch, and for several moments, several of them thought that this one had died in his falling. “He is alive,” one of them spoke; their elder. They turned to him, in reverence, watching the older man as he came forward, and looked at the thing that lay before him. “His mind is still awake and aware... and somewhat fragmented.” The man spoke in low tones, before reaching out with his stick and poking the fellow.

There was no movement from Kularian, and the people around exchanged some glances as they tried to put a lid on what was going on here. There wasn't exactly a whole lot of understanding, and this whole thing didn't seem to happen as 'normal.' People didn't just fall from the sky, especially furry people with a gaping maw of blood-stained teeth. “Elder... what should we do with him? He seems to be dangerous,” one of the men spoke, looking at the wolven warrior, a bit of concern in his eyes as he did so.

“Hm...” the man spoke, still looking down at the wolven warrior, who lay unconscious in their midst. “He is conflicted. There is much going through his mind at the moment... and he is not even aware of it. It seems that he's actually attempted to lock his mind away from his own body.” There were numerous murmurings at that; of course, these people believed that the mind was the most valuable asset to one's body. The mind allowed some form of control over everything and lacking that seemed... almost sacreligous.

“How is that even possible?” the man who had spoken first asked, looking at the man, and then back to the Elder, trying to reason that out. “One cannot live without their mind. Locking it away entirely would... kill him,” he finished, and the elder gave a single, solitary nod.

“Indeed, but that is exactly his problem, you see,” the Elder spoke, looking back at the rest. “By attempting to do so, he has not realized that his mind makes itself known in very small, very minute ways, things that allow him to come up with little tactics and ideas all together. Having him attempting to lock that away is virtually impossible, unless he has the ability to will himself to breathe, and to tell his heart to beat. He has seemed to lock away the entirety of his mind without realizing the implications. I assume that he has believed that he is doing so only to his conscious mind, but it is the subconscious that holds the true power.”

It was at this point that Kularian began to stir a bit, and several of the Kanassians backed away, not sure what to expect. And it was good they did, as the wolf immediately saw himself surrounded and, being wounded, took into a defensive posture, blood and saliva dripping from his fangs as he looked at the others. “Who the fuck are you? Get away from me!” he roared out, and snapped at the elder, who simply held out a hand, a faint glow in his palm as Kularian's maw seemed to stop cold. The wolf blinked, and forced himself forward again, and the elder gave a grunt, actually surprised at the source of power that the wolf had.

“Dear me... you're a strong one. It's been quite some time since someone of your power came here to Kanassa...” the man spoke, the Elder watching Kularian, who continued to push forward, now considering it a test to breath through the elder's telekinesis. However, the elder's eyes began to glow as he shoved Kularian backward with a ridiculous amount of force, the wolf tumbling backwards, blood following him as the wolf was injured in several places, before he managed to get up to his feet again, growling low at the Elder. “How about you simply just wait there, and listen to what I have to say, rather than attacking me again?”

The wolf gave a low growl, on all fours. The blood staining his fur giving it a distinctly dark appearance, and his now-red eyes didn't really seem to be helping the matter at all either. In fact, the wolf appeared to be wholly evil, despite the fact that he was not. It was merely instinct that he operated on, now. No thoughts, no pre-planning, nothing that went into what he was doing. Every single thing that he did was either an action or a reaction to something that was happening to him. The only problem was that, as a hunter, Kularian enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, and the killing and eating that often came afterwards. “Why should I listen to you?”

The man gave a single shrug, not really sure what to say to that. “I suppose you don't really have a reason. But I know what is going on in that mind of yours. Or, should I say, what's left of it. You locked it all away inside of yourself, didn't you? Didn't want to bother with it... but you know.. that in doing so, you're jeopardizing your life?” The fellow nodded as the wolf growled, not at all buying what was being said. “It's true. If you completely shut down your mind, then you wouldn't know when to breathe, when your heartbeat was coming... your subconscious mind is something that you need to let do its thing. You can't let it not assist you.”

The wolf growled again, before spitting up a bit of blood. “Fine then, creature. What do you expect me to do?” the wolf's words were thick with anger, just barely hanging on to some level of rationality. There was very little that Kularian wanted to do right now than to simply rip out this man's throat. But doing so wasn't exactly something that he could do. Not only did the man have an incredibly strong telekinetic field, but his own body was weak from his crash landing. He was certain that he'd broken a number of ribs. “Unless you'd rather not talk and just leave me to die.”

The elder shook his head. “Not at all. You see, I think that you are a rather interesting creature, in what you're trying to do. Normally one attempts to seal off their memories, or their mind splits into several parts, but not you. You're simply locking away everything that makes you more than an animal. You're trying to become... just a beast again. Or for the first time; I'm not sure which way your transformation took you.” Kularian merely growled in response. “But I can teach you how to harness your mind, or at least what you have left of it. If you want to keep it from affecting you, that is. That way you can at least not die when you succeed at what you're trying to do.”

“Why help me?” the beast growled, lashing out at the elder as he took a few steps forward, ignoring the pain in his chest, his arm, legs... his whole body. “I've done nothing for you and you've seen me try to kill you, twice, in the small time I've been awake. What would possibly make you think that this is a good idea?” the wolf growled, lurking low, his body laying lower to the ground, and, as one would know from studying animals, showing some level of submissiveness.

“Because you're not a bad creature, Kularian,” the man spoke, having already invaded the wolf's mind. “I know this. You're just... in a tough time right now. And there's something lurking in what's left of your mind that I can touch. Something not of this world. Or any world. And that's stopping you from becoming yourself. And to that end, I wish to help you.”

The wolf growled. “Fine.”
