These woods were REALLY beginning to get on his fucking nerves. He'd have burned them down already if that wouldn't have attracted the attentions of the old kanassan who'd been “teaching” him ever since he'd arrived on this blasted rock. His arrival to this world wasn't quite an accident, but it hadn't been by choice. A month or two ago he'd attempted to instant transmit directly to Grogian, to face Eruca and her shadowy bastard squad. Instant transmission was the best way to get around, the problem was anyone else using it could interrupt your travel. One of them had cut him off in subspace or whatever the hell you went through when you used the technique. A short fight had ensued, Sai winding up here instead of his intended destination. His hood wearing assailant had wound up elsewhere, their paths not yet crossing again. Under normal circumstances, Sai would have left this planet weeks ago. But there was something to Kanassa. The world itself seemed to have a way unlocking the brains hidden potential, giving way to psychic mumbo jumbo. He'd doubted the old kanassan for the first week, then, when he began to see the future, he figured there had to be something to this whole thing. This precognition was followed up by the ability to move things with his mind after some training. It was around then the old kanassan told him to head into the forest of illusion, to find the hidden temple of the order of saljuk. Why? Hell if he knew. But if it involved more mind mojo, Sai was down to find it. This forest was, apparently, special to kanassa. Due to its lack of sunlight and blah blah blah blah traveling through it was supposed to be really difficult. Not many of the kanassans who came through must have had the power to sense energy, as Sai was managing to keep on track by following a large energy signal. So much for tradition. The lack of light wasn't all that big a problem either, as Sai was always prepared. The flash light had been on for a few hours, and while the battery wouldn't last much longer, it would at least last long enough to see him out of the woods. There wasn't much illusion to the woods. Perhaps Sai's extra senses had kept him from seeing them, or maybe he was just too focused to notice them. Whatever the case, he emerged from the woods, finding a really shitty looking building staring back at him. The thing was in the shape of a pyramid, though it was ade from cracked stone of some sort. Likely it had been carved from the mountains of kanassa. Several thousand steps sat before him, the top of which was framed by two massive torches. How the hell did anyone have trouble finding this place? With a grunt, the saiyan began ascending the steps, wondering what the hell kind of ability these guys were going to teach him. At the top, he found himself before a massive doorway, solid stone doors, covered with some kind of heiroglyphs. The saiyan ran his hands along them, before shoving on the door. Both of them swung open easily enough. Sai turned his flashlight off, placing it back into his belt before walking through the doorway. The place had that smell about it. The kind of smell things got when they were too fucking old. This place must have been ancient. The smelly kanassans who likely hung out in here didn't help. How such obvious fish like people lived on a mountainous world with so little water was a mystery to Sai, but he didn't control alien physiology. The clicking of his boots against the stone floor were the only thing he heard, the sound reverberating off the hallway as he walked. He could sense energy, but damn if there seemed to be anyone around. The hallway ended in a large room, a massive purple flame sitting on a raised platform in the center. Deciding he really didn't need to know much else, Sai crossed, the room, ascending the stairs to this platform, before sitting down beside the flame. He took a seat, breathing slowing as he focused his mind on flame. A sense of peace washed over Sai, the saiyan opening his eyes to find himself adrift in space. He glanced to his left, finding Kanassans in odd uniforms were in a similar meditative state to himself. “You made it through the woods rather quickly.” One of them said, not bothering to turn towards the saiyan. “I Guess that means you're more than worthy. Welcome to the order of saljuk.” “Yeah let's cut to the chase.” Sai responded, climbing to his feet. “What's up with this whole order thing?” “...We are the order of saljuk. We protect Kanassa and promote a heightened sense of mind throughout the galaxy. You, Sai Penin, were found by one of our recruiters. You and your justice league have what it takes to join us.” “You're talking to the wrong person then.” Sai informed the kanassan. “I'm not the leader of the justice league. You'll want to talk to Rem. If you've got more of these psychic tricks in your bag, though, I'm game to join your order of goofballs.” “...You seem to have issues with respect.” “Respect is earned.” Sai explained, looking back to the purple flame. “Not given.....you people have done nothing to earn my respect. You're clearly some sort of ancient order of fish people, who bank on people being too scared or useless to wander through your woods. Your purple flame here does the same thing the old mans rock did. I'm gonna assume your orders job is to stop people who'd misuse your....whatever from sitting here at this flame. You guys should work up a few other defenses. Like maybe a barrage of blaster fire, or something.” The kanassan finally opened his eyes and stood up. “Those are the kinds of ideas that require us to remain hidden. You will learn our ways, in time.” the kanassan brandished a hand at Sai, a brilliant purple flash blinding him. When his vision stopped swimming, he was sitting back in the temple, a band of purple cloth now sat tied around his arm. It gave him the same feeling as the fire did. With a sigh, the saiyan turned, beginning his trek back through the temple. At the entrance he looked out over the thick woods of illusion. This was kind of lame. Sai turned back to the rune covered doorway, taking a moment to carve something into it before turning back to the woods. He COULD go back through them just to prove his point. “Fuck that noise.” Sai concluded, an aura flashing around him. With a grunt he left the ground behind, turning in the direction of the village he'd been staying in before his aura pulsed, sending him shooting like a missile in the that direction. The only evidence he'd ever been through here was the “Sai was here!” carved into the door. ((1192)) |

Rem was getting impatient. He had been locked within this underground temple, corridor, or whatever the hell it was for hours by that point. And it was getting old, quick. He had tried walking in one direction for a bit, but it had gotten him nowhere. He'd considered turning around and actually heading back the other way,but really dodn't want to cover ground he had already covered, so said to hell with it and continued on- figuring he'd either come out at some point, or reach a dead end. At that point, his decision would be made for him and he'd be forced to turn around and seek another way out. The only problem with this plan was that he had been walking for hours. There was no light, no rustle of air, no cruch of leaves underfoot or any of the signs of an exit that one might expect. Instead, it was just the same red-stone corridors with no change in lighting or atmosphere. "Where the hell am I?" Rem asked, seriously getting annoyed. The Kanassan colonists on this world had turned on him and he didn't know why. He had thought Adoy was going to train him for whatever reason, to fight the Void, the Darkness, the Unformed. Whichever you chose to call him. But that hadn't happened. Instead, two dozen Kanassan Telepaths and Telekenetics had seized him, driven him into the embrace of unconscious from the pain they had been able to afflict on his mind and body, and then apparently left his ass.... here. He needed to get back to the Quixote. Needed to find out what was going on with his ship. He had more than a bit of faith in his Namekian Elites; led by Paryll and Zell, as well as the rest of the crew and fighters on board. But, if those Kanassans had been ablw to trick and take him down so fast- it was possible they could do it to his followers too. He'd never be able to forgive himself if he somehow let his entire ships complement get wiped out by some dastardly plot, some trick that he hadn't seen coming. Rem continued moving along, always looking for some sort of break in the walls, any sort of weakness or basically just anything that would be a clue that he was approaching the end of whatever hell this was- but there was nothing. He continued channeling energy on the tip of his fingers, a small torch to light his way as he kept moving. It was a very small expenditure, so he wasn't at all worried about actually running out of energy or whatever. Mostly, he was just sick and tired of this, literal, run around. Finally, Rem stopped. He had to try something else, had to get the hell out of here one way or another. He couldn't know how long he had been unconscious,c ouldn;t know how long he had been out of commission, and what might have happened to his people and crew during that interval of time. This entire place was ancient, and his mind railed against the thought of destroying it, but fuck it. Something had to be done. He wasn't going to play these games any more. Sighing, Rem powered energy into his free hand and launched it skyward. The blast of energy struck the ceiling of the place he was in and exploded. There was a flash of light, and then the counter pressure wave of the explosion from being in a confined space slammed into him, driving him towards the ground. Moments later he was back up, rechanneled the small light on his hands, and lifted up to see what he had done in damage. He was actually surprised he didn't see sunlight streaming down through whatever he had broken in the roof. Maybe it was night out? A moment later he discovered the truth. he was almost aghast with surprise and shit when he got to the top and saw that he had done just about no damage to any of the ancient strucutre. What the hell sort of material was this that was completely immune to his power level. "Son of a bitch..." The Namekian muttered. And started to fly... before he had been running and walking, now... Now he flew with all of the intent and speed he could muster. He wasn't being careful about spotting any breaks or openings he could escape from. No, he was just trying to find the exit, trying to get to the end of whatever this damned tunnel was. Minutes passed, and then more. Half an hour passed... Longer, and still Rem found no exit, found no point at which he could leave this dastardly place. So he stopped... He had enough speed that flying for that long would have taken him about three quarters around the diameter of the planet, if his math was right- and it usually was. Either something seriously fucked up was up, or this tunnel... was some sort of trench that went all around the planet, and was unable to be damaged. So it was the perfect trap. Have you exhausted all your considerations for escape? A voice suddenly asked, within Rem's mind. He looked around, but knew that he would see noone, nothing even before he did so. These damned kanassans had some seriously voodooey powers, and were fucking with him quite well. They had completely overwhelmed him with their strange mental powers, even though none of them were anywhere near his own level of strength. They had somehow trapped him in this place, even though by all rights and logic that should have been impossible. Such a structure as this, that was as indestructible and as large as he had seen should not have been able to exist. But it did, and that... was that. "Yeah, sure." Rem said, pressing his back to a wall, crossing his arms over his chest, and preparing himself to go through whatever bullshit game he was going to be forced to play. The Lismian and the Saiyan have worn off on you, Kaisen. The voice said. You are impatient, and your impatience steals your wisdom. You are in the proving temple, once a great society lived upon this planet and sent all of their powerful warriors here. They were tested, to be sure they possessed the courage, wisdom, and patience to be a true and responsible warrior. Now, it is your turn... You can rest your mind at ease concerning your crew, they are fine. They will remain fine. We have no plans to harm any one. Our only goal... is to awaken within you the abilities long lost, and to set your mind back upon the path it has wandered from. Rem scoffed, but... He didn't actually sense any falsehood or dark intents coming from the voice in his head. Should he perhaps trust them? That had been his first instinct... but... "Fine... Then what would you have me do?" Rem asked. First... you must regain your ability to cast your spirit from your body. Only then will you find the way free of this place. Rem... could remember that skill, possessing it at least once upon a time. He had almost forgotten it completely, so much had happened to him in his two lives that the small things were simply falling between the cracks. His mind simply was not expansive enough to remember all of the details. "I see..." Rem said, and sat down- preparing to delve into his mind... and Remember. 1307//1307//2499 |
