The warrior awoke, realizing that, at some point, he'd fallen asleep. The wolf sat up immediately, his entire body high on adrenaline after a few short seconds of realization. But then as he looked around, he found that he wasn't exactly sure... /where/ he was. The fact that he had been awoken led him to believe that there was something in this area, but he couldn't be sure what it was or where it was. He grunted as he stood, looking around himself. The last thing he remembered doing was being in a village, with an elder that had been able to overpower him using Telekinetics... and offering to assist with Kularian unique situation.

And now, here he found himself in the middle of it all, in a forest of all things. The forest itself seemed to go on forever, in all directions, and the man let out a light growl as realized that this wasn't going to be anywhere near as easy as he'd hoped that it would be. He had no idea where anything was around him, and his scouter wasn't giving him anything but static and bullshit. Giving a grunt, he removed the device from his face; it was just going to piss him off if he left it there. The warrior turned, looking around himself, trying to get some sort of bearing on where he was, and where he needed to go.

Trial of Patience

The wolf gave a light growl as he looked around, trying to establish exactly where he was in this whole scheme of things. However, after a few moments, he began to realize that as he looked around, the forest itself was subtly changing around him. It wasn't exactly noticeable, and he definitely hadn't caught on at first, but the more he looked around, the more he was able to see exactly what was happening, here. There was a strange, subtle movement from a tree as it reoriented itself, moving around, while a shrub slipped to the side. Everything in here was constantly changing, reorganizing itself... and that would make finding his location that much more difficult.

Briefly, as he watched, he considered the fact that there could be some sort of pattern at work here, something that he hadn't seen originally. And so, rather than with his instincts telling him to go barreling through the forest and shatter everything that got in his way... the wolf sat down on the ground. The clearing he sat in had no paths away from him, and it was simply the area that he had that was available. His eyes flickered around to the various areas around him, trying to see if he could spot something open. Soemthing that would show him exactly where to go. And it wasn't revealing itself to him.

The wolf thought, for the barest of seconds, that he'd seen something, but it was gone just as quickly as it had come, and his eyes blinked, not fully sure of what he'd just seen. There had been a movement of trees and shrubbery, and for a brief moment, he had thought he'd seen a path. But there was nothing there, and it was gone after the brief few seconds it had been there. He blinked, several times, before looking between the two areas again, trying to figure out which way was the proper way to go, when he realized that the path that he'd seen not once, not twice, but three times now, were all the exact same path.

He couldn't be sure, of course, but as he looked from one to another, he could see that there was a change there, a subtle movement that revealed the path that he'd seen several times now. It looked the same, every time, but as soon as he'd seen it, it had vanished again. “Dammit...” he growled, and steadfastly refused to move. The Kannassan had enough mental power to stop him from attacking, and that meant that he had known what he had been talking about, when it had come to learning how to control the powers of his mind. And with that, as Kularian looked, he knew that he couldn't let his instincts take the front seat.

He had to let his mind do the work, to see what it could see. The more he strengthened it, the more that he kept its power, then the easier it would be for him to shut it down. It seemed... odd, but it made sense to him. If he simply shut it away entirely, then, as the man had spoken, he would have to remember to force his heart to beat, and his lungs to breathe. It was something that he needed to handle on his own, and that way he could put aside the part of his mind that was infected. He could revert, truly, to the beast he needed to be to survive. There was simply no other way.

Trial of Wisdom

There. He moved, darting forward as the path appeared for a moment. He stepped upon it, and the area around him stayed, more or less, as a path. Certainly, the place before him was nothing but an empty forest, with no passable methodology, but he felt that he could, at this point, start to make some progress. He would have to discern, using his mind, or perhaps his gut instinct... which of the paths that would come before him were correct. As he waited, the forest opened before him for a brief moment, and he saw the path he would need to follow... but it seemed off. And then it was gone. And he blinked, not sure if he should have taken that one that had just vanished or not. Surely it would show itself again...

And then the path appeared again, but this time, it was marginally different. And before he could decide, it too, was gone. He blinked, frowning as his maw curled into an unhappy scowl. This was not easy. His mind was not meant to be used like this, and it was taking every ounce of control he had not to simply move forward and destroy everything that lay in his way. Hopefully this toning of his mind would allow him to find a way to realize what had happened to himself, and a way to fix it. Granted, with the deity of madness lurking within his conscious mind, there was little that he could choose to do without it affecting him.

The wolf nodded to himself, before he looked down at the path before him, and then looked up, before the path appeared. He burned it to memory, comparing it to the path that he had seen several times now, and had come up with nothing. He could tell that, without a doubt, that path was not the correct one. He nodded to himself, and waited for the next to appear. It then, was one that he knew matched perfectly, and thusly, he took a step forward, orienting himself on this new pathway. Looking behind him, he saw the path lay clear now, back to his glade, while the path before seemed to be slowly opening itself for him.

The wolf nodded, slowly taking it one step at a time, only moving forward when he was certain that the path that he saw matched the path that lay before him. When it was different, he held back, and waited. But when it matched, he moved forward as quickly as he was able to, trying to get the jump on it before it vanished again. He did not miss, even going so far as to ignite his Kaio Ken abilities to keep himself there, in time, and making sure that he wasn't getting left without access to that path. And eventually, as he made it there, he found himself standing at a strange precipice. He was still within the forest, but there was simply a pit at his feet... and he had no telling how deep it went.

Trial of Courage

The wolf grunted as he came to the edge of the pit and peered down. It seemed to simply go into inky blackness as far as it went down. The wolf frowned; if he had the ability to shoot ki, he'd have a chance to actually see how deep it went, but he had no such luxury. And, unlike his allies, he didn't think ahead to pack torches or a flashlight, or anything that might assist him on that. So really, his only choice was to dive down into the pit, and see where it went. The only problem was, that sounded like an absolutely horrible idea. He had no idea where it would go, or what he would see while in there.

He grunted, looking back at the path, which still led back to his clearing. Had he made a mistake somewhere in there? Had he allowed his eagerness or his instinct to cloud his judgment? No. He was certain that every step he'd taken had been the exact right step for it to get him to where he needed to go. He grunted a few times, circling the pit, not entirely sure what he should be doing, here. His body told him to stay out of the pit, but his mind wanted to explore it, to see what he could see in there. If he had follwoed the steps correctly, not that there had been any instruction, he would want to at least see what was down there.

He grunted as he looked into the pit again, and then he gave a light shrug as he simply dove forward, letting the instinct to get the hell away from it fade from him as he let his mind take control. He heard a dark laughing from the corners of his mind and quickly sealed his mind again, not wanting the creature to invade what last vestiges of his sanity remained. The wolf sailed through the darkness for what seemed like ever, before the darkness seemed to get some level of... solidity. It wasn't solid by any means, but it thought to him what it might be like to try and swim through cold syrup, only without it being cold.

After a few moments, he began to realize he was running out of air, and began to move upwards, by instinct, when his hand broke the surface, and he pulled himself out of what seemed to just be water, save it had a silvery sheen to it. As he looked up, sputtering, several Kanassans watched him, intrigued. The Elder he spoke to a few moments ago came forward, and nodded to the man. “Welcome to our temple. Here is where we'll teach you to harness that mental power of yours,” he spoke, and Kularian merely grunted.

Those tests had really pissed him off.
