------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The veteran saiyan strode the lands of Kannasa. A little backwater under the Avalon Protectorate and inhabited by a race of telepaths. Once a great civilization until a few saiyan’s, not too dissimilar from Bardock himself, where sent here to cleanse the planet and prepare it for sale. They had failed, the main difference between them and him, he would have wiped this rock clean in a matter of days, though had managed to destroy much of the world’s infrastructure and population. So much so it was still struggling to recover from the attack several hundred years later.

All these things made for an unwelcoming civilian population when confronted by a saiyan visitor. Not only a saiyan, but one who wore his military dress with his rank proudly on his chest. The only deviation being his new sword strapped across his back so the red tasselled handle protruded over his left shoulder. If it wasn’t for the rumour that the mental prowess of the locals was more to do with the surroundings than the physiology of the natives and that anyone could develop the abilities, given enough time, he would never have bothered with this place. Except maybe for a bit of sport. But the rumour was there and so he found himself on yet another planet of little importance to him besides a unique ability or two.

As the veteran passed through a rebuilt section of a ruined city, that was now only home to several thousand while its pre-devastation size suggested hundreds of thousands, he was approached by a fish faced native. It was a little odd, since not a single other Kanassian had even regarded his presence, but something about the glint in this one’s eye told Bardock he was a little odd amongst his kind. A dark robe, hood pulled forward only left his face exposed from the brow down.

“Yes, you,” it began in a harsh, dusty voice, “I’ve sensed you moving amongst us. You have a great evil brewing deep inside,” a rough scaled finger thrust against Bardock’s chest emphasis the point, “it could be your key to even greater power, you just need something to bring it out. I can help you with that,” he finished with a tight grin.

“What do you care about evil saiyan’s. We almost destroyed your world. If it was me I would have destroyed your world. Why should you “help” me?” the scarred soldier asked obviously skeptical of this out of the blue “help.”

“I’m not like others of my kind,” the native grimaced as he lowered his hood, revealing a heavily damaged skull. The protective bone had been little use against whatever blow had caused the deep indentation in his head. The veteran was a little surprised the being had survived and said as much. “I barely survived, but I’ve been cut off from the Oneness. I retained the ability to see into a man’s heart but otherwise I’ve been completely cut off from the world for decades and no one can pull themselves from the Oneness long enough to even realise my plight. My own kind has cast me aside and my heart has grown cold. All I ask in return for my help is for you to take me from this place when you leave.”

“A pretty speech, but it falls on deaf ears. If this help is legitimate I’ll give you passage on my ship, but keep the sob stories to yourself. Now, what is it that will unlock this power you sense within me?”

“Yes, of course, very cold. You’re tormented by something, I can see that, but you lack the spark to turn the hatred of it outwards. You must either turn it out, giving you great power, or you will surely die. In my abandonment I’ve dedicated my time to studding old tomes written before our race abandoned the practice and have learnt of a stone, or perhaps more fittingly a gem of darkness, remnant from the time of the Lost. No word is said of why it exists or was made, but it was said to relieve people of inner turmoil. After its previous owner was defeated, the stone was secreted away, never to be spoken of again,” the maimed local answered.

“That’s great!” the veteran shouted with false enthusiasm before dropping the pretence, “I don’t care about its fucking back story! Where do I find the fucking thing!” Not that he had any inner turmoil to deal with, he just wanted the power. He almost even fooled himself with that thought.

“In the volcanic mountain’s that ring the planet’s equator, I can give you no more precise location then that.”

Great, he may as well have just said “on Kanassa.” I was just in those mountains! the veteran thought frustrated but said allowed, “Fine, wait here, I will return and take you to my ship once your “help” has borne fruit.”

He failed to mention what would happen if the “help” turned out to be bogus. Just like the maimed local failed to mention what had happened to the last three people he had recruited to find the dark stone. This saiyan seemed arrogant enough, but arrogance and a pure heart could go hand in hand. Only time would tell if this was the man to survive finding the stone. Not that he’d survive much passed that.

The veteran placed two fingers to his forehead, honed in on Zeth’s ki signature, and within a mere moment was back in the volcanic mountain’s that adorned Kanassa’s equator like some sort of flash belt. This was going to be a long search. Every mountain in a ring around the widest part of the planet for a small gem that would open a power deep within him. If it wasn’t for that last part, he wouldn’t have bothered.

“Zeth! Get the men lined up out here. Now!” he called into the Normandy through the open ramp, dusting off his squad leader voice from not so long ago.

His old squad mate soon appeared yelling curses and insults at the ship’s crew to move faster. In short order, the crew where lined up in a single rank in front of their commanding officer, Bardock. Zeth fell in to the second in command position, at the end of the rank but turned inward so he too could watch the men.

The scarred old soldier surveyed his motly crew, numbering ten including Zeth and himself, made up of a majority of saiyans, though with a scattering of aliens. Some of which he didn’t even know their world of origin. All had come recommended by one or another trusted comrade of past battles. It was time for the crew’s first test, time to weed out some weak links perhaps.

“Alright, listen up men,” Bardock began, his voice leaving no questions as to who was in charge, “Your first mission is going to be somewhat of a race. A test to see who of you are worthy to serve on a ship whose legacy will grow to one of legend. Within this mountain range, there is a stone, no larger than the palm of your hand. I require this stone. You can tell it from the fact it has the smooth, glass like surfaces of a gem, but is completely black. It reflects no light what so ever. The first man, or group of men if that is how you choose to work, to return with the stone will be rewarded. Do you understand?”

“Sir, Yes Sir!” the crew responded in union.

“Good, now get out of here. I will be following your progress via your scouters. Oh, and one last thing, don’t let the stone touch your skin. If you value your life, this is the one order you should follow to the letter. Now go, I want that stone!” the veteran dismissed the men with a wave of his hand. The eight men exploded into the air, singly or in a pair, in all directions over the mountain range.

Bardock watched the men go with a wry smile before turning to enter the Normandy and relax while his minions did all the hard work for him.

The Lost-
Anthropoid race. Two pairs of eyes each with dual pupils. Two pairs of nostrils. Possible enhanced vision. Heads covered in a thick and layered carapace. Pale blue or grey skin mottled with spots. Three fingers. Two toes-
Kanassa.

Zarbon flipped a few pages where the word "Bardock" was at the top in bold letters. Following a wall of text, he quickly engraved Kanassa at the bottom and shut the book. Was the Lost affiliated with this planet as well? So far from the capital of the Kelioux empire... these questions would have to be answered at a later time. For now, his time in this city had grown quite beneficial. Zarbon had discovered at an early age that blending in was an impeccable method in order to attain knowledge that would be otherwise confidential. Walk with purpose, pretend you're where you're supposed to be, and suddenly the natives open up to you. Rumors slip out. Bits and pieces of information from a plethora of sources gradually coalesce into something more.

Bardock's approach had apparently been successful as well. By making himself the center of attention, instead of seeking many citizens out and gaining small traces of information from each individual, he had attracted the guidance of one particular man with all of it. The alien took notes and walked away casually back to his ship for the time being to research what exactly this artifact was. If it could do those promised things then the shady stranger would have retrieved it himself by now- no. There was a catch. There was always a catch.... Whether it be Adel's old sword, an ancient blaster belonging to the Lost, or a laboratory in the mountains, there was always some form of danger that prevented the one asking from doing it themselves. There was the possibility this guy was simply lazy, but when was Zarbon ever that lucky?

It was completely dark when he arrived in the forest near his ship- the gates to the adjacent village were already closed; and he was decided it was too dark to find his way back to the Yacht. Zarbon began to walk through the forest to another town about three miles away. The sky was serene; and, as he was unable to fly through the dense trees, he resolved to walk slowly to get there. During this short time frame lightning began playing on the edge of the sky. The storm appeared to approach rapidly, and, upon exiting the mouth of the forest, he ascended a low hill to observe its progress. It advanced; the sky was clouded, and rain began falling in large drops.

He walked on back to the ship, now not caring for a refined inn, and just wanting refuge from the rain, despite the fact that the darkness and storm increased with every passing moment, and the thunder bursted with a horrific crash above Zarbon. Vivid flashes of lightning dazzled the night sky, illuminating the trees, making it appear like a vast sheet of fire- then for an instant, Zarbon perceived a figure which hid behind a gathering of trees from where he had just been. He stood fixed, staring intently. Another flash of lightning illuminated the outlined figure, and revealed the shape to him. It looked just like him, except horrifically uglier and larger.

The alien thought about pursuing the figure, but it wouldn’t have made a difference. Another flash of lightning revealed that the beast was already gone. Upon disappearing, however, a thick fog diffused from the forest. A voice burrowed its way into Zarbon’s mind, forcing him to listen.

"You're gonna die," it giggled.

Zarbon prepared for a fight, but the blinding fog rushed at him too quickly and overwhelmed him. The Z Force captain quickly shut his eyes. Upon feeling and hearing nothing, he opened them again to see the fog was gone, as was the rain. It was back to being a beautiful day. Zarbon picked up the pace to a light jog, needing to reach his ship as soon as possible. Something wasn't right here. He needed to leave this planet. He pushed his Ki underneath him as he rocketed towards the direction of his landing, blasting any trees out of the way and somehow not hitting any obstacles.

As he flew, an object on the floor of the forest caught his eye. It was riddled in dirt, yet somehow still flickered with some unholy light. A shadowed aura engulfed the rock, and Zarbon could sense it had a power level. His scouter brought back nothing but static. Curiously he went to touch the rock before remembering what the old man had informed Bardock: indirectly, he had said it was dangerous. Maybe even deadly. Maybe he wanted to die. The green alien and charismatic leader picked up the stone with both hands and stared into its core for several minutes. His eyes were entranced in this artifact, and knowledge began to seep into his mind. He could feel his comedic thoughts and desires begin to shift away, and his latent goals became clearer and clearer: there was a specific object of interest Zarbon had been researching, but forgotten about. It would only be a matter of time now until its location would reveal itself to the Z Force leader, and then everyone would know his name. He walked back to his ship, remembering the precise location. The door immediately opened and he walked past the wine cellar, past the cheese storage, and upstairs to the bedrooms. And then, once at the door of his room, he walked back a few steps and knocked on the wall, revealing a hidden elevator. He took it up to the very top of the space yacht and and laid down on his bed once there.

The scarred saiyan relaxed back into the deeply comfortable command chair in front of a large screen and keyed interface. Time to check up on the plebs, the old soldier though as he operated the station. He opened up a link to his crews scouters, activating the video link. He’d be able to see and hear everything like he was right there from the comfort of the Normandy. Life was good.

Scrolling through the crew, he stopped on Kuka, deciding to check in on this member first for no particular reason. He clicked on Kuka’s link and sat back to enjoy the show as the screen displayed everything the communications officer saw.

********************************************************************

Kuka streaked through the Kannasian sky with the Normandy to his back. Being given such an impossible task with such vague detail, the greying saiyan didn’t see much point in traveling far before he began his pointless search through the literally thousands of miles of mountains in which he had to search for a gem that could easily be grasped in a man’s hand. The enormity of the task just made him mad.

Damn that Bardock annoyed him. Ordering the crew around like he was the king himself. One day, when he was ready, he’d show that overconfident…….. he let the thought fizzle out before it had even been completed. Bardock, while not old, wasn’t exactly young either and Kuka was easily his senior. That and his commanders power level was triple his own. He’d just have to keep his head down and get on with it how he always did. A saiyan, to reach his age, had no other choice really. It wasn’t cowardice…… not really. More like self-preservation.

Blowing out his grey moustache, he alighted not far to the north of the vessel he crewed and turned his attention back to the search. Whipping his crimson cape back and clear of his legs, he entered the first cave he seen on this unanimous mountainside. It certainly would be unanimous after the thousands of them he was sure to have to search.

Irony, however, had a different plan. Not three paces into the opening, as his eyes began to adjust to the darkness, he heard a strange hum. He moved deeper and it became a guttural chant. Still deeper and words began to become clear out of the din. Oh master……. us….. power, your……… servant……

The tunnel veered to the right and as he rounded, a harsh red light appeared, revealing a huge cavern filled with hundreds of robed figures on knees, grovelling before a statue of the most beautiful face Kuka had ever seen. It smiled benevolently down on its flock, but something in the lines spoke of an evil benevolence. Of taking pleasure in pain, of delighting in others suffering. One eye radiated a savage red, almost as if it too produced the light instead of just reflecting that of the torches, while the other was completely dark. The light around the dark eye seemed to twist and warp as if it was being taken into the darkness.

This must be it, Kuka thought, delighted that he’d completed his long, arduous task almost immediately by sheer dumb luck. He elation was short lived however, as his body froze. He struggled against it, battling his own body to move. Not understanding how or why, he had become a living statue!

“You stumbled in on the wrong party,” a harsh, grating voice said before something solid slammed into the back of his head.

The two saiyan brothers, Cress and Orache, maintenance and weapons system experts on the Normandy, sliced through the air in a westerly direction from the ship. “Damn that Bardock!” Cress muttered to his brother, frustration evident in his voice, “Giving us such a shit mission. Doesn’t he know how much work we’ve got to do just to keep that old ship operating?”

“He does,” Orache, the younger yet obviously more level headed of the two, said in a mild tone, “we’ve got plenty of time to get it done before we leave. He must really want this stone though.”

“Idiot doesn’t even know how a flux drive works!” the older brother continued his rant.

“He doesn’t have to, otherwise we wouldn’t have a job. He’s by no means stupid. You’re just complaining because you don’t want to do this,” the younger saiyan cut in bluntly.

“Shut up,” Cress muttered disgruntled but backed down from his argument, “We may as well start, how about there.” He pointed to a mountain with a large opening in the base.

“Sure, it looks as likely as any other,” Orache agreed, squinting to see where Cress had indicated.

The pair alighted in a well-practiced back to back stance, blasters pointed out and armed, that allowed each to visually scan a one hundred and eighty degree arc. Just encase they had missed any signs of danger from the air. You never knew.

The brothers then patrolled over to the cave entrance, all the while looking for signs of danger, or any clue’s that could indicate recent movement in the area, taking up a position one either side of the opening.

A slight nod from Cress being the signal, they rushed the cave, one turning to the right and the other the left with military precision. This allowed them to cover the room’s entirety in the shortest time possible. It was clear. A short corridor ran from the back of the open chamber that made up the entrance to the cave. The pattern of light from the corridor spoke of many smaller rooms opening off it.

The pair continued their system, blasters raised and alert until the final room was cleared. Other than a few mice and spider webs, there was nothing. The light coming from shafts that had been drilled into the side of the mountain to allow natural light to enter.

With a grunt, Cress finally lowered his blaster. “Not surprising,” he stated, trying not to let his frustration at the enormity of the job get on top of him.

“No, not at all,” the younger brother agreed, “Well, best get on with it.” The two emerged from the cave and almost instantaneously received an incoming message beep from their scouters. Cress shrugged as Orache said, “Must be the ship.”

The pair toggled to accept the incoming video call and Bardock appeared on the screens. “Cress, Orache, Kuka has found what we seek but can’t handle it on his own. I’m sending you the co-ordinates now. Get there and get that stone,” the veteran order before the link blinked shut and the co-ordinates appeared in its place.

“Looks like this mission just got a bit more interesting,” Cress said excitedly. Orache returned his brothers grin as the two launched into the sky’s on a b-line for the dark stone.

Avilia, a Kelouixian born on the planet the race was named for, flew in an easterly direction from the Normandy. She was short for her race, coming in at just under six feet in height, though was consider tall amongst these saiyan’s she had come to be surrounded with. She would have been considered beautiful to another of her race, with her long flowing blue hair, deep amber eyes that seemed to be looking into your soul and a lithe, shapely body.

But fate had drawn her here, to serve with Bardock on the Normandy. Little did he know, she had been worried at first but it seemed didn’t remember her, but it was the veteran himself who she was interested in. She had her reasons. But first she was taking the time to study the saiyan, to determine what kind of man he was.

The alien beauty turned her mind from such thoughts and refocused it on the search at hand. She had to find one stone within the massive mountain range that encircled the entirety of the Kanassian equator. Talk about a needle in a haystack…. Actually you could use a magnet to find the needle. This was worse.

Perhaps, I should start…., the thought was ended prematurely as a sharp pain erupted in her lower back and the force that created it sent her rocketing to the grey stone below. The impact opened a crater in the unforgiving surface with Avilia a painful ball in its centre.

The kelouixian’s amber aura, the same colour as her eyes, exploded into life, sending the stone that had crumbled in all around her flying in every direction. She allowed her ki to rage to its full extent as she scanned the skies for her assailant. There was two of them, both saiyan’s from the Normandy’s crew. She could not quite remember their names, but did know they were not well liked even among the other saiyan crew members. One was fat and short, the other tall and gangly and both where not much in the way of warriors in her opinion. Maybe she had suppressed her power too far if jokers like this thought they could take a swipe at her.

“You don’t belong,” the fat, slightly smarter looking of the pair called, “we want you gone. Take this chance and leave. Or else.”

“Oh, so it’s blind racism? Sure that’s cool. But no, I don’t think I’ll take you up on your gracious offer. You see, I have things I need to do. Things I need to be on the Normandy for. And you two insects have no authority to order me around,” she replied coolly. Her disinterest in the duo’s challenge obvious.

“Kelouix scum, you have no business with on a saiyan ship. But if you want to die, I’ll be happy to oblige!” fatso blustered. This was getting boring really fast.

“I don’t have any interest in the ship. I’m interested in a person on the ship. Now if you’ll stop wasting my time and check your scouter, you’ll see how pointless your threats are and we can be done with this,” the alien beauty said, exacerbated.

“Ha, I know every crew members power level and yours is pathetically low. Why Bardock would allow you on the ship I don’t know! But even great saiyans can be a bit short sighted every now and the,” fatso smiled back, obviously confident in what he thought was a strength advantage to him.

“……..Fine,” Avilia replied simply before she disappeared from view, reappearing as her fist drove deeply into fatso’s diaphragm, causing a sharp explosion of air from the cocky saiyan’s mouth, “I’ll just kill you anyway.” Her other hand shot forward to halt a mere inch before her assailant’s face and released a massive wave of amber ki. Fatso barely had time to scream before he no longer had the required equipment. His burnt husk dropped to the stone below.

The alien beauty turned to face her last remain attacker, the lanky, not to bright looking saiyan. “So, should I kill you too? Or are you just going to run?” She asked. Apparently he had a some intelligence as he’d turn to flee even before she finished her sentence.

She didn’t let him get far however, aside from beautiful, there was one other thing she was accounted among her race, merciless. The alien beauty’s fist exploded through the lanky saiyan’s chest, ending his miserable existence.
Her scouter beeped, alerting her to an incoming video call from the Normandy. She toggled the device to accept and Bardock was displayed before her left eye, “Kuka has found the stone, but requires help to extract it from the current owners. Make your way to the following co-ordinates as fast as possible,” the veteran instructed before his image disappeared to be replaced by the promised co-ordinates.

Shaking the carcass from her slender arm, she turned to follow the scouters pointer to Kuka’s location.

********************************************************************

Bardock sat back in his comfortable chair in, shocked. Just before he had contacted the Kelouixian he had seen the vicious spike in her power level. Searching through his records, he found her stated level from her interview to join the crew. It was only five thousand. Then how had she peaked to slightly over fifty thousand? Something odd was going on here. He’d have to keep a special eye on this girl. Not only was she beautiful, she was far more powerful than the scarred saiyan himself.

********************************************************************

The brothers, Cress and Orache, reached the co-ordinates first and took up positions on each side of the cave opening once more. They entered again with their military briskness, blasters raised, each hugging a wall of the long tunnel until they reached the bend where the crimson glow began to become apparent.

There, Cress stumbled upon Kuka’s form left for dead on the same spot he was struck down. A quick, practiced check found signs of life, so he pushed a healing bean, Bardock had called them Sensu he thought, into the old saiyan’s mouth. After a moment the old man snapped back to consciousness, Cress’s hand pressed over his moustached mouth to stifle the surprised grunt.

As Kuka grumbled, rubbing a significant egg protruding just above his left ear, Avilia appeared to join the group. It didn’t look good for the group. Kuka had been taken down easily and he was the most powerful of the group with a reading of just under ten thousand. Cress and Orache came in at a barely respectable three thousand each. Avilia was nothing to speak of either.

After a moment of hesitation, they did what all good soldiers do no matter what the odds; they got on with the job at hand. A quick brief from Kuka filled in the late comers to the situation and a plan was formulated. If they were going out the were going out with a bang.

Cress and Orache rounded the bend first, once again hugging a wall each, and open fire into the flock with their blasters, scattering the group. Avilia was next, her own amber ki adding to the attack and confusion. Kuka followed last, ramping the fire power up nicely, as he to rained purple ki onto the hoard.

The majority of the worshipers fled, and not a few fell, before the onslaught. The group of soldiers allowing those that would to pass them unopposed. As the smoke cleared on the benevolently evil statue, only five figures remained.

Despite all the touches being exstinguished, the red glow still permiated from the right eye only to be absorbed by the dark left eye of the statue, leaving the remaining followers as nothing more than darkness outlined in a dim red. All where tall and radiated a hatred to match that of the statue.

Kuka toggled his scouter and wasn’t surprised to see a reading of between fifteen and twenty thousand each for the demonic figures. They were boned, but he kept his personal despair to himself. It wouldn’t help the others to know they were about to die.

The old saiyan’s body rebelled just as before. His limbs refused to act on the commands he gave no matter how he struggled. Great, I won’t even be able to die fighting, he lamented. A quick, desperate flash of his eye’s around the others showed the two brothers as statuesque as himself, wild panic obvious in their eyes.

As hope died in the old saiyan, a movement caught his eye. Avilia, moving easily, as if nothing was happening. “Nice trick boys, but it has no effect on someone at my level,” the alien beauty taunted the figures as she slowly approached, oozing confidence.

Her level? Kuka though, puzzled, I’m more powerful than her! Yet she advanced and despite his best efforts, he did not.

“I tire of this,” Avilia murmured, sounding as bored as her words suggested. A brilliant amber aura exploded around her, stretching halfway to the caverns ceiling and walls in a show of power far in excess of what she should have been able to produce, “Hand over the stone without any more fuss and I might let you live,” she declared, obviously expecting to be obeyed and in short order.

The demonic figures heads moved, as if they were glancing between each other, before they attacked. All five advanced on the alien beauty in a blur of speed Kuka could barely follow before the six combatants’ became a whirlwind of punches and kicks. Avilia moved smooth as silk in the mists of the assault. Dodging, blocking and parrying strikes with no discernable effort. How strong was this girl!

A lightning quick block followed by a nonchalant jab, and one demon was ejected to smash with devastating force into the cave wall. Discounting a twitching leg, it never moved again.

Another light thrust from the alien beauty and another demon was down for the count. It’s head now a visibly different shape than before. This one didn’t even twitch. “Enough,” Avilia roared as she threw both her hands up and the remaining three were thrown backward by a wave of pure force.

She disappeared from the spot she hadn’t abandoned for a moment during the assault and appeared with her foot stomping down viciously on a demonic skull. Three down for the count. Again she moved and again a demon met its end, a steel like fist crushing in its rib cage. Four were no more.

Strolling over towards the final demon unconcerned she taunted, “I was hoping for a bit of a challenge.” The demon, whom had found time during the demise of his compainions to do little more the struugle back to his feet, lashed out with a fist. Avilia knocked it to the side with such force the demon’s body rotated on the spot. His feet now where his head should be, the alien beauty grabbed a leg, whirled him around her head before slamming the demon into the statue.

The benevolent, evil face cracked through the left eye, allowing the dark stone to drop to the floor as the three saiyan’s where released from whatever had been holding them. The alien beauty changed her stance slightly, aiming her left palm at the body now embedded in the beautiful statue. A brilliant amber beam of ki came forth and obliterated both body and statue. Opening up a hole in the back wall of the cavern that allowed daylight stream in unrestrained.

She motioned to pick up the stone before an urgent call of, “Wait!!,” from Cress halted her, “Bardock said we can’t touch it on our life!”

“It’s fine,” Avilia answered as she completed her motion, picking up the stone with no ill effects apparent, “Shall we go?” she asked, a slight movement of her head indicating the new enterance to the cavern.

“I guess so,” Kuka grumbled, once again rubbing the egg behind his left ear.

********************************************************************

Bardock sat back in shock at the culmination of the battle he had witnessed through the video link on Orache’s scouter. Avilia’s power was phenomenal! She would be close to a rival to Starrk if his guess was right. Pulling himself from his chair, he slowly made his way outside the ship to wait for the group.

They hadn’t travelled far, so arrived shortly after. “You’ve got what I asked for?” the veteran asked although he knew the answer. He maintained his confidence and the aura of command. The worst thing he could do was let Avilia know she had it over him if she wanted too. He suspected she knew anyway. He would have to be extremely careful how he tread until he could put a finger on her motives.

“Yes,” Avilia answered simply as she moved forward of the squad and presented the stone to Bardock. It was touching her bare flesh, which told him one thing about her, though how important it was he didn’t know just yet, she didn’t have a pure heart.

Without a word he took the stone from the alien beauty. Rage and pain exploded throughout his body and a beastial roar escaped the veteran’s lips as something deep within him clicked and moved. His royal blue aura flared into life around him, though now it seemed tinged with darkness around the edges.
