OOC: Welcome to the training battle simulator. If you win this children's card game, there will be- wait, wrong sim. There are a few things to know about battles: the types. We are starting with a training battle, which can only be your first battle, and can only be done with less than 15,000 PL at the start of the battle. Both parties will receive half stat gains. Training Battles cannot be jumped by other characters and are only 1v1's. We will go over the other types of battles in additional posts through the TB.

Quon folded his arms over his chest as he silently waited on the island of Muten Roshi. The old man had asked him to come and talk with one of his newer students that had arrived on Earth. He was not sure how to take the old man's request. He was an old pervert, that was for damn sure. But there really was not anything else that could do for the young at heart man. As a Paladin, he was disgusted with the old man's treatment of the females, but there was nothing criminal for him to Judge, so he was constantly forced to let it go.

However, he was most interested in this new person. He was not told a name, the old master had insisted that he learn the name from the person, instead of the old man trying to introduce her. While the Paladin could not figure out why, he supposed that it did not really matter. He suppressed his true power very low, as not to attract attention of higher powers, as well as not kill Roshi from the very pressure of his full power.

The beach had a light breeze this day, and the sand was nice under the greaves that he wore. The armor he wore was tailored to his specifics, a long coat with diamond-shaped metal plates that were strong as any other Paladin armor. His pants, shirt, shoes, and gloves were all the same way. Even weighted, the armor was greatly protective for the Paladin. His natural toughness combined with it was really another story. As he waited, the Paladin adopted a stance that would allow him greater flexibility; he wanted her to begin the training battle.

OOC: There is really no maximum limit on the amount of words in a battle post, but there is a minimum amount of 200 words. If you can't think of too much to write, try to describe your character's emotions or how the environment is effected by the fight.

Until you reach 10,000 speed, you will have 3 actions. If you are the first to post the battle, you lose 1 action for that post only. You can still use as many free actions, however, as you are able to. There are items like the Energizer that will give you additional actions on your next post, or battle items like Scouters that give you an extra action or your first post. There are even passives that give you additional Actions.

Below in 'quotes' are things that are typically placed in the first battle post, with some things that the ref may ask you to repeat. The list includes (starting with required: stats, prepared items (You start with 5, and once you reach a milestone in the Trait Intellect, you gan more slots, prepared weapon techniques, special notes (like passives, though this is not required), and advanced-finisher techniques

A small rowboat landed on shore of Master Roshi’s island carrying Alyree Tonara. Alyree held no oars in her hands, nor were there any to be found in the small boat. The vessel had instead been propelled through the water using her magic. It was the same boat she used to ferry herself to a from the small island whenever it was time for training. The young Ilphlin have been Master Roshi’s student, but she didn’t want to stay on his island any longer than absolutely necessary. The less time she spent around the lecherous old man, the less chance his hands would start to wander.

Alyree gingerly stepped out of the stopped boat, looking at figure on beach. Her blue hair flowed freely until it stopped just below her armpits, the wires protruding from the sides of her head hung to her knees, and she had on her usual traditional Ilphlin drape. Master Roshi had insisted that she show up today to spar with older student of his. Admittedly, she was a little iffy about it. Alyree was always a bit wary of the old man’s motives. Still, she needed all the practice she could get. There was plenty of conflict to be found on Earth. It was way more than Alyree ever had to deal with on Ilphendar, before the sacred tree died at least. Not only would the extra training help her get through trouble on this planet, but it would also get her one step closer to possibly saving her home planet.

The Ilphlin’s gold shoes made little prints in the sand as she approached the figure. She didn’t know his name, but he didn’t look like the lecherous type at first glance. Hopefully that trait was unique to the turtle hermit, and hadn’t actually rubbed off on any of his students. ”I’m guessing you’re my sparring partner,” she said as soon as she was close enough to be heard clearly. Her pointy, black fingers drummed against each other nervously as she tried to figure out how to go about this. She was still a bit shaky on the non-Ilphlin interaction that came along with being on a new planet. ”Umm… I’m Alyree.”

OOC: There are two other battle types besides this Training Battle: 'Regular' Battles and Duels. In regular battles, any amount of players may join at a maximum of two if neither beginner is in an alliance, and if a third wants to join without the Passive Loyalty. Around 4v4 is the maximum possible. Duels are strictly, like a Training Battle, 1v1. However, no matter what either player would really want, a duel will always end up with the loser dead. There is one more that I will discuss in my post.

Quon looked at the fellow Alien before him; her long hair might get in the way of combat, but he could address such a thing later. He nodded at her short introduction before a smile split across his face as he said, "Yes, Muten Roshi did ask me to help train you a bit. I am the Paladin Unquis, a title really, but you will learn my name in time." His Catpaw Stance sprung him into a short frenzy of attacks at his sparring partner, though he did not want to hurt her too badly, so three quick jabs were throw at her stomach area; enough to perhaps sting, but not enough power nor speed were put in to knock her out. The next attack was not as nice, and was meant to show her a bit of power as he said, "Taking the quick blows may benefit you more than not defending against a powerful blow like this." He aimed his fist at her left shoulder, leaving just about enough speed for her to defend herself.

Muten Roshi walked out from his house as the spar started, his stance serious. If only for that moment before he walked over to his beach chair under the palm tree and sat down to watch the sparring match. His eyes zeroed in on Quon, "Well, he has not much to do to beat her, but I see he's being more gentle with her than he is with other partners I've brought him. Hmm, I wonder."

Okay, lets get started with what you can do in your actions. There are three basic actions: offense, defense, and alternative. Offense comes in two flavors, physical attacks and energy/ki attacks. The two are sometimes combined in techniques. Defense is split between: dodging, blocking, Counters, and using defensive techniques. Alternative actions include power ups, using items, using your Stance, and Resting in multi battles (those that are at least a 2v1). Lets start with physical attacks, as there are two sub categories: Quick Attacks and Strong Attacks, abbreviated to QA and SA, respectively. They are as they sound, one being quicker, but hitter less hard, and the other being stronger. Per action, you are allowed, at the beginning, x2 QA and X1 SA. This will change as you gain stats, and there are even Fighting Style Passive abilities that will give you extra QA's or SA's. Try to pick a Fighting Style once your character hits level 2 that fits your style of battle.

Lets also touch on defense. All of your actions, currently, will cost 1 action. You get three, which are split between your attack and defense; that is to say, you get 3 actions and may choose to split between defending all actions, attacking with all your actions, or putting in some defense with your attack, which is more recommended, so you don't take as much damage. Also, remember that before you can attack, you must defend first. Although Counters will inflict damage, they are still a defensive action in nature. I will talk more on the alternative actions and weapon attacks in my next post.

”Oof!” Alyree doubled over ever so slightly as all three jabs connected with her stomach. Paladin Unquis was much faster than she was! Even with the difference in speed, the young Ilphlin got the distinct feeling that he was still holding back. She wasn’t about to start complaining. Something told her that if he was at full strength he could easily squash her like a bug without a second thought.

There was no chance in taking a breather. As soon as Alyree recovered from jabs to her stomach, another attack was already aimed at her shoulder. It was slower than first three, but there was no time to sit and think about it. She barely had enough time to catch his fist in both of her dark, leathery palms. Alyree’s hands were big enough to easily engulf his fist. Even while blocking the single punch with both hands, he still overpowered her by quite a bit. The girl slid backwards in sand until Unquis’s arm’s kinetic energy finally petered out.

”Melee’s not really what I’m good at, but here I go,” she called as she balled her right hand into a fist and let it fly as quickly as she could at Paladin Unquis’s chest. Using her momentum to her advantage, she then twisted her body and attempted to deliver a high kick to his jaw. Both attacks appeared to be executed correctly, but if they hit Unquis would find that they had very little power put into them; perhaps about as much as someone with only a third of Alyree’s strength could manage.

Alyree wasn’t too bad at blocking or dodging. Pulling off complicated moves wasn’t such a big deal either. Putting any sort of power behind her punches or kicks, on the other hand, weren’t exactly things she excelled at. Nobody belonging to her race had ever that physically strong, which was odd considering how they were built. She guessed that it had something to do with their ability to use magic, or it was some sort of inhibitor that lay somewhere in their synthetic parts. Nobody on Ilphendar had really looked into it all that much since everything was so easily handled with magic.

Melee was not her thing, huh? The first blow that struck him was minimal in strength, and the second blow was messed around as he simply grabbed her leg and threw her into the sand. He didn't use nearly all his strength, but she seemed to fight a bit straight-forward. While that could do well against some opponents, it would not do good against others. The Paladin narrowed his eyes before he stood fully and cracked his hand before he threw his hand out and faced his palm down at her. Ki crackled in his hand as he whispered, "Ki is very dangerous. Its explosive in delivery and it can slaughter those unable to defend against it."

Unquis unleashed one of his weakest ki attacks, the Energy Wave, in a blast form. While it might kill most lesser beings if he was at maximum power, his lowered level of power would not kill Alyree, nor would it inflict too much damage. His eyes narrowed a bit as he spoke once more as his other hand reached over his back and withdrew a sword from his back, "Also, beware weapons. They have provided strength to those that are behind them. They also provide utility to your arsenal, should you choose to use one. As a Paladin, it is almost necessary."

He then placed the weapon back in its back scabbard as he turned his eyes to Roshi for a moment before he turned his eyes back to her, with a calmer look to them, "And, Alyree-san, you should try to read your opponent's movements if you can."

That was a good post. Just remember that you are allowed at the start to chain 2 QA's together in one action. Also, you may dodge QA's with 1 action that are used in an action. Example, I throw three QA's at you in 1 action. You can dodge all three with 1 action.
Now then, special actions are like: using a stance, using Power Up, or even using an item, like Potion or a senzu bean. These actions are usually not able to be disrupted, unless you are using an item and are then attacked, the effects of the item may be lessened at the ref's discretion if the two players cannot come to an agreement.

As more a side note, after three posts, we wait for the ref to give out the RP Award. If I were to win it, being the stronger character, I would get a 10% boost to my stats. Should you win it, as the 'underdog', you could recieve a 15% boost to all your stats. The award can turn the tide in battle, or help you crush your opponent.
As well, after each person has posts three times, Finishers may be used, but not before.

There wasn’t even an attempt to dodge Alyree’s punch. However, before her kick could connect, Paladin Unquis caught her leg and flung her away with ease. She hit the ground face first, and her cheek slid across the sand leaving a neat little scrape. She immediately threw her weight in front of her and turned the slide into a tumble, then using her momentum to hop back to her feet. Alyree said nothing. The alien girl merely turned around readied herself for her sparring partner’s next move.

Paladin Unquis went on to speak about ki attacks and the dangers of using them. Alyree nodded, her eyes focusing intently on the ball of ki crackling in his hand before he fired it in her direction. The young Ilphlin instinctively threw her arms up in an attempt to shield her face with her bulky forearms. It burned and pulsed violently as it collided with her leathery, black skin. The sensation was pleasant by any stretch of the definition. It was somewhat bearable though.

When the attack finally dissipated, Alyree lowered her arms and looked back at Paladin Unquis. ”I do things just a tiny bit differently. I’m an Ilphlin; my people don’t have ki. At least, we can’t harness or use it like most are able to. We rely on magic instead,” Alyree explained as she held her arms out to her sides. The symbols etched into her forearms radiated with a purple glow as she quietly recited an incantation under her breath. ”Mut-Sap-Ept,” came the words from her mouth as her palms glowed the same hue of purple as the markings on her arms had just a moment ago. ”I’m able to use this magic to mimic ki attacks if I study them long enough. In reality it’s close enough to ki to not really matter all that much. I just like talking about magic to anyone that will listen,” Alyree continued to speak, saying the last sentence with a bit of sheepishness in her voice.

Not wanting to spend too much time talking when she was supposed to be practicing her combat skills, Alyree held her left palm out and concentrated the energy in it into a Mesposo, firing the beam of energy at Paladin Unquis. She then did the same thing with her right arm. Alyree then puled her arms close to her as if she were holding a basketball. ”Nay-Ahj-Dut,” she chanted, a Sokidan appearing in her palms. The girl took a quick breath before flinging it in the direction of her sparring partner.

Unlike her physical strength, Alyree’s magic based attacks were quite on par for someone of her skill level. This would be a much better display of her abilities than her weak little melee strikes. Still, she wasn’t planning on hurting her sparring partner in the least bit. If she hadn't been absolutely positive that he was light years out of her league, she would have held back.

The RP Reward goes to Alyree.

So as Quon said, you get a 15% boost to all stats. You should factor this in on your next post so you can start learning how to calculate stat bonuses.

Quon smiled lightly as the girl seemed to know that he had held back, well, s lot. His power was choked away for a different reason than one might imagine, but for her sake, he was able to hold back enough. "Ah, so you use magic..." It was not all that different from ki; she still drew from a finite pool of energy to use her spells. The girl suddenly started to chant and fired off three swift beams, though to the speed of the Paladin, they were not all that quick. He smacked the first beam away while his other hand went for his blade as the second struck his Paladin armor and well...he kind of felt it. The mesposo that struck him was not life-threatening.

The third attack met his blade's small buckler and was thrown off-island as Quon smiled lightly as he stood up strait. "While I see that you can use these techniques, 'copied' from ki, you must also be careful. Every body, even an android's, can only use so much of their inner energy before they exhaust themselves, or even kill themselves. The more advanced techniques, for example, will drain you much faster. Try to combine physical and energy combat to defeat your foe. While we both know not to trust Muten Roshi too much, he can help you with your martial arts." There were advanced tactics that he could show her later, but for now, the basics would have to do.

Alyree took a slow, deep breath and nodded to Paladin Unquis. He seemed to be at least slightly impressed by her magical capabilities. He was still somewhat insistent that she try to use more physical attack though. Alyree knew that he was right, but there was still the problem that her melee capabilities were hampered due to unknown causes. Perhaps there was some way to do away with it. It was something Alyree would definitely look into, though there wasn’t much at all she could do about it until she found the source if the problem.

”I’ll keep your advice in mind. Thank you for taking the time to teach me. I’ve still got a lot to learn,” Alyree spoke with a polite bow. The young Ilphlin briefly rolled the idea around in her head to stay on the island bit longer to get in some more training for the day, but quickly decided against it. She was avoiding the turtle hermit more and more as of late in favor of exploration and finding people to do various good deeds for. While it was far more tolerable than dealing with the lecherous old man standing across the beach, the results probably weren’t as good.
