Saiyan Sword Master

The first order of business for Rei was not the chase of Ag’nul Zon, but that he would have to tell Avalon about Quon. What he really was, and why Shaoran had turned out the way that he had. He had to break thousands of years of silence that he had sworn would stay silent. However, he was no longer bound to his people. Anomander Rake had seen to that. Now he was an exile, a being that was alone, in a universe that was foreign to him. The only cultures that he had seen that had not changed were Avalon and Planet Vegeta. It all seemed vaguely different. The style was very new, and yet there was a feel of tradition as he walked through the streets. He was headed for the dojo that Quon had trained at. He first needed to kill off that bastard that had survived Anomander and caused the Mad Deity’s existence. Scabandari Bloodeye was in a training hall when he heard that someone was headed for him. The man sighed as his gray skin was now fully exposed. Quon had nearly forced him to reveal his true skin, but his name had remained Suimana. To many on Avalon, this was just a transformation, similar to that of Quon’s werewolf form. A low sigh flowed from the man as he looked at his door; had Quon finally returned from Earth? They had a few more plans to put into place before he could solidify all the blame onto the Paladin Unquis for all that had happened with the mad deity. It was not ‘fair’ to his student, but he felt that it was more necessary to save himself, rather than include his student in his scheme to return to the Tiste Endur fortress and revive the sleeping race of Shadow. Rei arrived in silence as the guard outside looked at him with a strange look. He wore the armor trench coat of Quon, and even had his signet that was presented to the guard. She narrowed her eyes before she looked at Rei’s eyes and saw that they were a different color. The Tiste Andii spoke with a calm, yet sad tone, “I am the messenger here from Earth. Quon, the Paladin Unquis, is dead. He passed on during the incident on Earth, and gave me his armor and weapons. I am here from his will, to tell his master his final words.” He seemed dead serious about the whole thing; the Tiste Andii was truly sorry that Quon was dead, he was a lively individual to watch and oversee while he was trapped in that magic circle. But now was not the time to hesitate. Shaoran was still loose; after the battle, the Saiyan had escaped, somehow. Likely the damn deities of Chaos. The guard, however, understood why he was there. She nodded her head and spoke lightly, “I’ll let you inside, then. Master Suimana is in a back room.” She gestured from him to walk inside. Ah, old traditions. The drow like individual walked into the hall and started to Suimana’s location without a point towards where it might be. Though the guard knew about ki sensing, she had never known someone to pick out Suimana’s so quickly. A low sigh slid from her lips before she turned to a runner and said quietly, “Go and inform Suimana that he has a visitor coming. Then return here, I have other things you must tell the government.” A swift nod was given from the man as she sent him off. All things considered, Rei had made it in rather easily. Perhaps a bit too easily. He moved swiftly by walking as he masked his true power. If his estimation was enough, then he had just enough power to destroy Suimana if he could keep the man from transforming into dragon form. His body paused as his power dipped even lower as he started to transform. His mouth changed, and then as he passed sliding door after sliding door, he became more wolf-like. The predator within growled to be released, but he was in control. The arrogance that had separated those that turned into dragons would not force him to be as foolish. Wolves, after all, were pack animals. It was in their nature to be as one with others of their kind. The finals transformation had a weapon on the back of the wolf, while only a shred remained of the coat, wrapped around one of his large shoulder muscles. A couple Paladins just stared at the wolf with three tails that walked like it knew the place. Rei used all of his senses to do this. Just as he arrived at Suimana’s door, ki blasted just above him, where his head would have been if he were in his human form. His fur stood on end as his giant paw opened the door before he launched straight at Suimana and pinned the man under his weight and slammed his paws on the man’s arms. His jaws went straight for the man’s throat, but before he could clamp them around the throat, the man spoke into his mind, ”WAIT.” The wolf paused, but his jaws remained in their place, right at his throat. Bloodeye seemed to understand after a moment that he had limited time to explain why the wolf shouldn’t kill him that moment, so he explained quickly, ”I tell you to wait because of information that I received after I was told that I had a guest. There are Quon clones that have started to run around the city. And they are killing. Why they are doing so, and how they came about, I cannot say. But you should go stop them. His power. Your power. They are enough to wipe Avalon of its population, with most of the Paladins being off-planet.” It was true. He felt Quon’s ki signature, and even worse, the man was right. The signatures in the city had started to fade. The wolf removed its jaws and then was gone. Suimana sat up and panted, years shaved off his life. He had tried to kill what was coming, but there had been a miscalculation. Somehow. He sat up and tried to regain the feeling in his legs, but it was not so easy, even for this man. A few Paladins in training ran into the room to assist him and asked what had happened. Suimana found his voice after a moment and replied, “I was attacked by someone who understands what I used to be, before I cleansed myself as a Paladin or Avalon.” And there was no lie there. He was sure that the wolf would be back. He still was not ready to turn into a dragon. The dragon that Avalon knew as one of its greatest threats. It had been taken care of by him long ago, and was the reason he was in the Order in the first place. Suimana sighed before he turned his head and snapped, “Prepare to meet any clones of Quon that come here head-on. Some are armed with blades, while others are not. Those that are not are to be taken care of first. They will be the ranged support.” --- Of course, there was little that Bloodeye would do for Rei. That Tiste Andii was, it seemed, alone. However, since Bloodeye was not the type that he would want on his side anyway, there was no grief from the drow. He was solemn as he found the more massive group of four that had stormed the city. The four used only basic ki attacks or a very basic sword that they had each been given. But that didn’t mean that they were not able to slaughter. On the contrary, they were very proficient with the weapons that Suimana had taught Quon to use. In reality, Quon was Rei; their DNA was the same but for a few genes that the Witch had modified that changed the pigment of Quon’s skin and the kind of ears that he had. It was hard not to watch as he charged in. The first one was caught off-guard by the wolf that slammed into him with a shoulder and head-butt move. The Tiste Andii rolled as he landed, using one tail to help him land properly as another tail grabbed his sword and parried away a sword slash as the other fend off a close-range fire blast that flung back the clone that it struck. Rei’s landing had him land on the one that seemed to have started to charge an attack. His jaws quickly clamped around the throat and snapped the life from the body. It went limp under his body as citizens watched in fear. A giant wolf was attacking the Paladin that had, not long ago, saved them from a demonic menace. There was, in their minds, no side to root for. Well, Rei was not concerned about whom they thought was in the wrong. He was simply taking care of business. And it came down to just that. Within his fur, a second of his tails grabbed the second blade that he carried with him, the sword from Capsule Corp that the real clone had had modified on Pefu. It was strange that he was using this sword against Quon, but he had little thoughts on the irony of it. Again, his tails lashed out and deflected away attacks made on his body as the wolf snarled and then howled as the other ranged clone fired off a Kamehameha. The beam slammed into a barrier before it slid off and was reflected into the sky and off-planet. He had feared that they might to learn his advanced techniques. The wolf sprang forward as his tails held off the other swordsman as his jaws sprayed blood. His fur had started to get sticky from the blood around his mouth, and the taste was not all that great. But there was one thing that he had forced himself to know, and that was that he was a killer of these clones. He must do what he must in order to protect Avalon. There was something new in the air. His nose picked up the scent of old metal, an ancient metal that he caught a whiff of on Earth. The wolf returned his attention to the clones as he brought one of the blades’ handle to his mouth. His teeth caught onto the handle and then he charged faster than before. The blade arced swiftly and beheaded the clone that he had chosen to strike, the stronger of the two as his two free tails wrapped around the final clone and slammed it into the ground. Rei pushed in and crushed his wind pipe with a giant paw until there was no more sound from the clone. With the last one snuffed out and dead, he turned to see a pair of Paladins. The first was silent as he faced the wolf with the shield to his side. The sword, a newer age sword, sat calmly in his palm. A Paladin Long Sword, it seemed to bed. But the scent behind him was different. He had twin short blades on his back. But his main weapon seemed to be a bow that smelled of old, ancient powers. Not just of the old wood, but of ancient magics of an age past. He took a more defensive stance with the wolf body as the first Paladin took a step. He seemed to pause after he saw the reaction. Rei was not here to fight Paladins, he was here to kill the bastard that had caused Ag’nul Zon’s birth. The Paladin tilted his head before he spoke calmly, in a voice that might sooth a mindless beast, “So, you are not just a gifted animal. You are as we thought.” He then took his sword up and pointed it at the beast as he took a defensive stance with the shield. “You, beast, are the thing that killed Paladin Unquis. Even now, you have his Paladin Armor. You dared to take these things from him. I will personally make you pay.” But the wolf was not done, he expected. But the wolf would not get away. And it seemed that the wolf understood that there was no way to run. All it could do was fight. And as he prepared to move in, an aura flared from the beast. That aura felt like Quon! It felt like the Paladin’s that had fallen on Earth as the evil deity was revived. Just what was this being that copied other’s auras? He would never forgive the beast. But even now, the aura became a veil as the shape of the beast changed within. It took on the form of a humanoid before the aura faded away. A cream skinned elf stood before him, fully clothed in leather armor and a crimson cloak that currently lay around his shoulders and back. “Ah, a beast of myth, able to take the form of a humanoid.” Rei simply sighed as he gripped the blade at his side. The same blade that was the Paladin sword of Unquis. He knew that this would happen, but he had no choice. He took a stance that was a mix between his Crush Stance and his blade stance. The Paladin within heavy armor charged with a battle roar as he used the shield to lead his charge. The Tiste Andii reacted with a slight shift to his footing and waited. The sword that he wielded darted out and parried aside the blade of the heavily armored Paladin before he was smacked with the giant shield and flung back. ”Wha? He had never had the shield used against him in an offensive matter. And it hurt like hell. He landed heavily as the armor technology that was used on Quon’s armor had been placed into his. Within his leather were diamond-shaped plates that acted to protect him. He groaned as he stood, but now he understood that one. He would use the sword more as a distraction. He had little time to think as the Paladin thundered in and slashed with the blade. This time, he ducked and threw himself, shoulder first, at the shield. He was able to neutralize the force of the partially swung shield with equal force before he pushed the Paladin and landed on top. His blade pinned the other’s as he snapped, “You judge me before you see me enough to speak wi-“ Blue ki erupted through his blade arm in the shape of an arrow as his sentence was cut short. Pain throbbed through him as he looked up and saw that the other elf Paladin had already drawn back the bow string once more. Rei pushed through the pain and rolled to the side as he grabbed the burning arrow and threw it out of the hole in his arm. Now his sword arm was useless to him, at least in battle. But this was not a real duel. It was what was: the two had judged him as a killer and a threat to the current age. Paladin logic; they must have watched more than he thought. But he also knew that neither would listen to him. The bow user sighed as he stepped over to his more heavily armed companion and helped him up. He knew Rei was vulnerable here. But what he didn’t know was the Warren that the drow like being was able to access. --- Even as the man turned to address Rei, the Tiste Andii was gone. He stood there a moment before he uttered, “Gone.” Sagitta shook his head as he pulled Ensis to the spot that Rei had been in. “Lord Ensis, it seems that you have judged him fully without consulting me. While I share the feeling that he is powerful- that he is, indeed, one of those that are powerful within the world- we must exercise more caution. This Tiste Andii was not used to hold in Ag’nul Zon for no reason. That ancient being was sealed away from host to host because of what it was. Who it worked with.” He paused and then allowed Paladin Ensis to stand on his own, “Lord Ensis, I think we should let this one be for a time. We have shown that he is not threat while on Avalon. He is no match for us combined.” Ensis sighed as he patted off his armor and Paladin cloak, “Aye, I think you are right, Lord Sagitta. I exercised too little caution and tried to finish him off quickly. However…” Well, there was no need to say it. They both knew that this one now would act like a cornered animal. They would have to warn the leaders of Avalon and have them advise any Paladins to not engage the man. Anyone who was weak and crossed swords with this man would likely not greet the next dawn. Ensis shook his head, “I may have just created a problem for Avalon. I apologize for my short-sighed judgments, Lord Sagitta.” Both of hem knew that such a thing would not solve the problem. They had to take action, and they had to take it now. Both were unable to sense that Rei was near-by, and had dropped his power level low- to that of the average citizen around him. He hid in an alley, panting and groaning at the pain in his arm. The Tiste Andii was angry at himself for thinking that the archer would have just left him alone. After a short time, his body faded back into where it had when both of them had not looked: into the Warren that his people used. He didn’t get very far from the fighting, about three meters was the best that he could manage. That was enough to get passed the crowd that had gathered, then he had dragged himself into the alley. He had managed to grab the sword as he slipped into the dark portal, and now he was in the rejuvenation chamber within his ship. His student, or rather, Quon’s former student, was already waiting. Yamaru gingerly helped Rei remove the weapons and peeled away the leather armor on his upper body before they placed the Tiste Andii into the Rejuvenation Tank. He would have to remain in this hidden chamber until he was healed, and then have his crew check around Avalon for how prolific his wanting would be. --- Yamaru sat back as Rei went into a meditative state and then left the chamber. He was smart enough to know that Rei would be hidden well enough in there and knew that the new crew was loyal to Rei. Quon’s crew had been demised from the ship upon landing, in the understanding that the new Captain was not officially a Paladin, despite the Signet. In fact, Rei had told Yamaru that he had been a Paladin before the great data base that they had now. He was a Paladin to help solidify a peace between the Tiste Andii and the Paladins, before the damned Tiste Liaison had lied to the Paladins. Now the Andii were just on neutral terms at best, and if it was found out that it was a Tiste Andii that had ‘killed’ Quon, the Moon’s Spawn and Avalon may have war on their hands. It had been fragile enough when Rei was given the duty to keep Ag’nul Zon sealed. Now he just hoped that he could avoid war. Yamaru looked at the new crew and shook his head. They were not a Paladin crew, not anymore. They were a crew hand-picked by Rei, who was told that he had to find his own. Yamaru already knew that they would have to be cautious. One mistake, and war would kill the innocent bystanders. But there was one secret that Yamaru had kept from Rei and everyone on this ship. He entered his private chambers and looked at all the tapestries before he opened a portal behind him. A special room lay within, one that he slipped into. The dark portal was that of Kurald Galadin; the same dark portal that only the Tiste Andii could open and use. He was, in truth, a Tiste Andii that had been sent to observe Quon, but had surprisingly been picked to be his student. Yamaru had been happy at that occasion, but Quon had not been what had thought. He pulled out a special dagger from one of his drawers and placed the dagger to his and carefully stabbed his arm. The arm shuttered before his body did as the arm had done. Moment by moment, the lighter skin fell away as his dark skin appeared. His hair lengthened with the area and his eyes changed into their passive crimson. Not a death look, it was just his eyes' base color. But even with that, the Tiste Andii was not fully complete. The bow on his back was discarded; an old bow from Earth and he had put together from their weak trees. He took up his personal bow, made from the trees on the Sky Keep, Moon's Spawn, that had made him a legendary archer within the Tiste Andii people. "Even Lord Rake recognizes your potential, Rei," he spoke in a low tone, for he was not alone in the realm of Kurald Galain, "But when you failed your duty as Spiridon, you failed to do what he needed you to do." He shook his head; he had been there that day, and he had seen the punch that Lord Rake had delivered to Rei. "Very mad indeed. I will have to shield you from Lord Rake before I can use you to give him a poisoned arrow to the throat." The tapestry closeted to him was one that depicted the Lord of Moon Spawn’s death at the hand of a worthy warrior. For all of the insults that Yamaru had taken, he would be the one to kill the Lord of Moon’s Spawn and deliver shame. Words: 3,703 |
