Back at the ship Gohan owned, Nova threw his helmet into a corner of the room he'd been staying in. "DAMN IT!" He roared, his voice breaking as he fell to his knees. That damned boy... He couldn't be dead. The two of them had started to really develop a repoir with one another. they had managed to defeat both the forces of the mole man, and tyrannus together. Well, sort of. They had technically lost to Tyrannus, but then the two of them had come up with a plan and had broken out of their prison, staged a giant break out amongst the other prisoners, and then went to find Tyrannus to fight him again. It had started out pretty well, actually. They had been beating the shit out of the fucker when, all of a sudden, he revealed that he had been studying the technology of Nova while he had been in the cell. He had created a quantum ring that he had then placed upon his finger....

And immediately a massive, nuclear style blast had destroyed a 50 mile diameter circle of the subteranean realm of the Tyrannoids and the Moloids. Nova's tech shielding had saved him, and he had been thrown clear of the blast. Gohan... Nova had yet to find the first clue as to what had happened to the boy, which was a clue enough... He just... Couldn't accept it, not yet. It was too fresh. He had to think, to try to figure out what the hell he was going to do if what he had thought had happened, had in fact happened.

Back on the ship, Nova was wandering around when he noticed there was a flashing control panel on the bridge of the vessel. Having never seen it before, and curious, he went on over to it and pressed the button that the flashing seemed to be eminating from. The large viewscreen before him flickered, and came on. There was a face of a man, aged, in golden armor. He carried an ornamented blade at his side, had a long, white beard, and was obviously one used to the weight and responsibilities of command. He began to speak without hesitation. "Gohan. I am Knight Commander Jorn. I have attempted to contact Paladin Rem, but he has not answered. Seeing as you are the closest of the Paladins upon Kanassa, I have a task for you."

"The hell is this..." Nova wondered. He had heard of the Paladins, the Knights of Avalon. Hell, he had been considering joining them in fact simply because he appreciated the infrastructure and organization of a force much like his own Nova Corps. As he watched, an image suddenly appeared in place of the talking head of Commander Jorn.

Posted Image

"This, is Willem Cross. Former adjunct of the Paladins here on Avalon itself. Once, he was one of our greatest agents. Then, he betrayed us. Cross has managed to procure for himself some experimental, illegal, and dangerous mind altering devices." The image on the screen faded away then, back to Jorn. "Two weeks ago, on Namek, he was tracked down by three Paladins, all of them trusted, experienced, and skilled in their own ways. Either of them should have been able to take him down. It appears, however, that Cross was able to utilize his tech in a way that ended up causing the three Paladins to kill one another. He escaped, and now we have word that he is on Kanassa."

Nova was beginning to get rather concerned. He could see the dangers inherent. If a man who already was capable of using some rather extreme and powerful psyche tech was here, on Kanassa, a planet reknown galaxy wide for the mental abilities and prowess of its inhabitants... Well, Rider knew a devious plan in motion when he saw it- and he could see it rather clear.

"What we need is for you to discover his whereabouts, and attempt to capture him alive if possible, dead if pragmatic. We understand you've been training with the kanassans for a while now, and should have some sort of measure of protection against psychic and mental attacks. Otherwise, we would send someone a bit more qualified. As it stands, Gohan, you're the only option at the moment. You have the full faith and backing of the Paladins, and Avalon. Good luck, son." The stern, aged face of Jorn stared out for just a moment longer, saluted, and then the recording ended.

"Didn't have much faith in the boy..." Nova murmered aloud. The Knight Commander has essentially just told Gohan to try and take the guy, but they were pretty sure he'd die. Such macabre. Whatever. Gohan was gone now, and Richard Rider saw for himself a possible opening into another organization of turht and justice in this universe. He had never met Kular, or Sai, or Rem, or Sanara or any of the other varied members of the Justice League on various worlds. All he had known was Gohan, and if Gohan was dead, then he really had no reason to stick around. With that knowledge, and thought, in mind he set to work.

For the next two hours Nova studied every scrap of information about Willem Cross that the Paladin organization had sent over to Gohan. He learned far more personal information, and few fewer combat capabilities than he liked. That worried him. But, he did have an advantage of sorts. His Tachyon Helmet would give him a measure of protection from Psychic attacks. That, and as a Quantum Warrior, who's powers were based off of science and technology rather than the sheer might individuals of this galaxy seemed to possess, he would not be a threat that the other man would expect coming.

Knowledge in hand, Nova headed out. He went to the first place he'd expect an offworlder to come, and that was the main inbound registry board of the planetary defense forces. He wasn't a Paladin, had never even spoken to a Paladin, and there were probably some penalties involved in impersonating one to a planetary defense force officer, but worrying about such things was not going to get the job done. So, going through Gohans things until he had discovered a sort of badge that identified him as a Paladin, Nova had then gone off to the Defense Force office. He explained exactly why he was there, lied about being a Paladin, showed them the badge, and surprisingly, was allowed in. He almost hadn't expected it. These Kanassans were supposed to have mental abilities of their own, he had thought it likely they would sense his deception and toss him out on his ears.

Once allowed into the records room, he set to work with a will. He started with some basic math. If Cross had been involved in a fight on Namek two weeks ago, and had been reported here two days ago, that left a twelve day window in which he would have landed. Looking up star charts and some traveling information, he found it took an average of 8 days to go from Kanassa to Namek. Assuming, of course, that Cross was pushing because he was in a hurry, that meant he might have been to shave off a day, and make it seven instead. So, of the 12 original days in which he would have had to land, that knocked out the first seven.

Nova was now certain that Cross would have had to land on Kanssa between 7 and 2 days ago. That was where he started. First he went through all the official paperwork and inbound logs. There was little to go on there. Quite a few scheduled and regular delivery and trade arrivals. Inbound passenger ships and regularly scheduled transits he also ignored. That left, in the time period he was looking at, 9 vessels that had arrived in system. Quickly he was able to remove two of them, as they were courier ships from Kelioux and Vegeta. Another was eliminated when he found out it was a Cacylismian ship fleeing a battle, meaning they were most likely pirates that had been caught and soundly walloped.

Four ships. Four ships over a five day period to check out. Two of them had made regular landings at the major shipyard on planet, and he decided to check them out first to get them out of the way, they would be the easiest. The last two had ignored the defense forces commands to land, and had disappeared from screens once they had gotten below radar range. They would be... rather difficult to track down. He hoped it would be as easy as going to the space port and finding Cross, but wasn't going to fool himself into thinking that was really much of a possibility.

The first ship that Nova found was a complete bust, he knew as much as soon as he saw its crew unloading stuff onto the shipyard floors. It was a group of what he had learned were Yardrats in this universe- pink skinned, big headed aliens that had some skills were a few varieties of mystic arts. He didn't see a single humanoid among the crew, and as he drew close he could tell that they didn't particularly trust them. The way their eyes averted from catching his, and the way they would look at him when he wasn't directly looking at him. Yeah, these guys were pretty obviously an insular bunch, bordering on the offending racist types. There was no way a person as dangerous as Cross had been aboard their ship for days without something coming to a head. He didn't even bother stopping as he approached the ship, simply continued to go ahead and walk on past.

The next vessel, which was docked a few berths down, had a more likely air to it. He didn't see anyone unloading anything, and the entire air about the ship was a bit repressive. He ducked into one of the various cafe's that lined the walk before the shipyard, deciding to just go ahead and watch it for a whle, see what he might see. About three coffees and an hour and a half later, he saw a man get off the ship and start walking along the docks. It was obviously not his target, but... Nova was glad he had decided to come without his gear and armor for this first reconnaisance trip, He looked rather nondescript himself as he got up from the table, left a large enough bill to cover both the price of the coffee and a tip for the waitress, and walked out the front door- tiny bell giving a little ding as he went.

He followed the man at a distance for a half mile or so, then kept walking after seeing him duck into a shabby run down bar. Pretty standard fare for this kind of a place he assumed. He circled the block, not wanting to look suspicious or anything, coming in right after the man. A few minutes had past as he circled, and then he went ahead and went inside, taking a seat near the bar, and turning around as if to look over everyone. he got a lot of dirty looks, suspicious looks, and all other sorts of looks he didn't care for. But he ignored them as if he was just too flippant to notice, spotted his target in a corner table talking to some rough looking Kanassans, and then turned back to the bar, He ordered a drink and then went on ahead to use the bathroom. On the way back, he changed his seats, moving so that he could use the mirror behind the bar to serruptitiously check out his target.

It was obviously some sort of arms or drug deal. He wasn't really interested in that. He was beginning to get the idea that he had just stumbled onto some criminal crew, and not cross. A few minutes later he could tell that the deal or whatever was ending. He had to move fast. He finished his drink, paid the bartender, and headed out just a few seconds before the target left his table and came out as well. It had grown a bit darker out, and he was nigh invisible as he ducked into an alleyway to wait. He heard the sound of voices and music rise loudly a few moments later and knew that the door to the bar had been opened. He had his Quantum bands on, under his shirt. That was all of the gear he had actually worn. It meant he was vulnerable in a straight up fight, but he didn't really expect an actual fight.

Sure enough, when he reached out, grabbed the two bit crook by the back of his neck, and forcefully thrust him into the wall of the building adjacent to the bar there was little to no actual struggle. He tried to struggle then, but the sheer power that infused the arms of Rider from the power of the Quantum Bands made that proposition moot. "Calm down. Shut up and I won't wreck your fucking world." Rider whispered, low and threatening.

"The fuck!" The man started to yell out, but it was cut off rather abruptly as a quantum powered fist slammed into his chest, cracking at least a couple of his ribs and driving the air out of his lungs. He wouldn't be trying that shit again, that was for sure. The man began to wheeze, breathing in hard and labored. Perhaps one of those ribs had pressed up a bit too close to his lungs, or maybe... Well, that really wasn't Nova's problem.

"Where is Cross. Tell me now, and you won't die here, like a dog in the ally." Nova whispered, moving his face as close as he could to the mans, breathing the stink of liquor that he had just drank within the bar at him. He stared at the mans eyes intently, wanting to make sure whether or not what he was about to say was the truth. He wished, at that moment, he was wearing his Tachyon helmet. Using it, and his general knowledge on biologicals, he would have been able to determine whether or not the man was lying to him based on things like his body temperature, heart rate, etc. As it was, he was just going to have to go off his training rather than rely on the tech.

"Wh..Who?" The man asked, his eyes flicking up and to the left for an instant, before then narrowing as if in confusion. "I don't..." Nova didn't even wait for him to finish what he was saying before slamming yet another fist into his torso. If anything, this one was even harder than the first. The man yelped, wheezed, and coughed. Blood began to dribble down the corner of his mouth. Nova had really broken something that time. Well, no use crying over spilled milk.

"Don't fucking lie to me, you shit. Tell me where the fucker is, or you aren't going to make it out of this alley." His eyes were burning with a fiery intensity, his hand was clamping tighter and tighter around the mans throat as he held him in place, feet dangling just a few inches off the ground.

The man's eyes went wide with terror as he hung there, but finally he seemed to get the hnt that he was in a world of hurt (much more intense than the one he was currently experiencing) if he didn't go along with the flow. He started to talk then. He didn't have all that much to say, but he used a lot of words to do it- as if by babling the same things over and over again in a different method would save him, or at least stave off, from the pain that was going to come for him if Nova wasn't impressed or sated. The basic gist of it was that Cross HAD come in on the guys ship. But he had left it a few days ago, going out to the wilds. He was doing something with some Kanassan criminal ring, and that was all the guy knew, honest. He did have some stuff on the ship, and he was going to come back and get it at some point, and oh yeah they did have a way of contacting him on the ship, and he could totally take Nova there and help him get the contact method and such.

Nova had heard enough. He almost hadn't wanted to hear that Cross was on this ship. It made what he had to do next required. He'd half expected the man to have been on one of the illegal landing ships that had come down in the forests, but whatever, this was easier and worked out faster and better anyway. "Sorry, bub..." Nova muttered, pulling back his arm and letting the Quantum Blade *shtick* out of the side of the band. The man's eyes widened and he began to protest. That protest was cut short as the blade went right through his open mouth, and severed the brain stem that was angled down and behind his tonsils.

While some may have seen the actions of the Nova prime as evil, or wrong... they weren't, at least to his thinking and mind. As A corpsman of Xandar, he had not only the right, but the charge to dispense with justice and punishment against criminals and the like. While the laws of this planet and galaxy might not have exactly backed him up, and sure he was within another races and planets jurisdiction, he had to follow his own code and what he had done his entire life. Letting a criminal go free when he knew for certain tha the man was just that was anathema to him. He couldn't take him to the police, because he might have gotten off on a technicality. He couldn't leave him here or let him go, because he might some how warn Cross of what was coming for him. There had been no other option but to put the dog down, and forget about it, move on. So he had, and he did.

Minutes later, on the edge of the city, he took to the sky. His Quantum Bands before him, he was pulled along by their power as rapidly as he could back towards Gohan's ship, where his other gear and armor were. Things were going to get very messy, very soon he figured. Nova had found out one crucial bit of information. Cross was out doing whatever it was he was doing, but he was also waiting for something very specific to be dropped off at the ship. The man he had interrogated and killed hadn't known what it was, but he knew that as soon as it came, Cross wanted to be notified so he could come and pick it up. That was the mans weakness, that was where Nova would strike.

Fifteen minutes later he was back on the edge of the city, a cloak around him as he walked back down the sidewalk that stretched along the ship berths. He saw that the diner he had stayed in earlier was closed now. Night had descended over the city. No matter, he wasn't going to be needing a diner tonight anyway. Instead, he walked straight up to the ships cargo doors, and pounded twice on it. He didn't have to wait long before one of them cracked open and a head apepared behind it, looking at him suspiciously. "You the guy with the stuff?" he asked.

Nova could have almost rolled his eyes at the comment, but controlled himself, nodded once very seriously. "Yeah. Come on, open up- got to get this shit inside..." he looked around them, as if worried that he might be being watched or followed.

The man in the ship nodded and started to move away, but a voice called to him from somewhere further in the ship and he turned to face it. He turned back a second later. "Let me see it." he said nodding at Nova. Well, that sucked... He obviously didn't have any 'stuff' so the idea of letting this guy see somthing was out of the question. He obviously wasn't going to be getting on the ship easily. Well, he still would... But the messiness was going to start a bit earlier than he would have liked.

"Sure." Nova muttered, and then began to turn as if he was going to pick something up. His left hand, however, didn't turn with him. Instead, it slid into the slight opening of the door and fired out a plasmatic burst of energy that struck the man in the belly. He was flung violently away from the door, the lower half of his body almost completely melted away by the time he hit the ground, dead. He never even screamed, such was the surprise and absolute lethality of the attack.

An instant later Nova threw the door open and stepped through. He saw three men standing upon a catwalk farther up. One of them was already moving, running down to the left for some reason. Whether he was trying to flee or find a weapon Nova didn't know, or care. He raised his left quantum band again, and energy flowed out. IT caught the man in a fiery envelope that flash incinerated him, the barest scream his only trumpet into the afterlife. Corvus shoulder jerked back then, and he was surprised to see that energy bolts were already descending on him from one of the two on the cat walk. The force of the next attack thrust him out the back of the ship, and he spun around the side, getting out of sight of his attackers for just an instant. Then, he slammed through the side of the ship, a human sized hole appearing as he leapt into the air, firing both bands on full auto.

The first enemy was killed, much as the previous two had, his body not strong enough to stand up to the sheer photonic might of the quantum bands. His weapon, also, incinerated in the blast that took him over. The other man... The other man actually surprised Nova. A barrier of energy surrounded him as quantum energy began to pepper him. He turned, disappearing through a back door to the cargo hold. Nova growled, rushing up there as fast as he could, needing to kill that man before he let on to the rest of the ship what was going on.

He leapt into the door frame, throwing up his bands as energy fired back at him. A trio of men were standing further down the hall, firing their ki rifles at him. He grunted, annoyed... And killed them with a single blast that rocked the ship and blew out that portion of it. Well, no need to try to keep the man from warning others any more. Nova had made sure everyone on board knew that something was up. Now, he just had to hope no one had the sense or idea to let Cross know what was happening. He had to work quick...

Site Noob until I revenge kill Toma
“GOHAN KILL HIM NOW BEFORE HE…” Those were the last words Gohan thought he would ever here Nova say before an incredible force rocked them both. Any attempt to understand what was happening was made futile as the Half Saiyan felt himself in some sort of void, twisting and turning and falling…

And then Gohan was back somewhere he should’ve recognised immediately. But he didn’t. It had been so long…The boy quickly stood up, working out from his surroundings…the buildings, the construction, the people…that this was Earth. But not the Earth he knew. The sky was stained a blood red color, and he didn’t sense any hope here. The people were all nothing but defeated shells.

“And as have many…many more will fall below the glorious boots of the Planetary Trade Organisation!” Boomed a loud voice that Gohan recognised from six years ago. And from his nightmares. He turned around at once to find a large stage. In front of it were rows of seats filled by Changelings and other exotic aliens, applauding and listening intently.

Upon the stage itself was…that disgusting man. Tall and strong, with his red and blue cape riding down his back. King Cold.

“For my friends, six long years have passed! Six years of fighting, of conquering! But now, Earth is ours! And with it, we have the resources! We have the power! We have the tactical position! We have full control!”

This was met with much applause. Gohan had known Earth was a useful planet to the Planet Trade Organisation, but he had never known they had wanted it for so many reasons. Gohan was still a Super Saiyan, and so he found it impossible to hold his waves of fury back. No, such a thing was laughable. Instead he struck right forward.

“KOOOOOOOOOLD!” He yelled, sprinting forward. In his anger a wave of telekinetic force generated around Gohan, causing all of the Changelings moving forward to stop him to be knocked away, onto the ground.

The Half Saiyan leapt into the air, pulling a fist back, as he charged straight for the Supreme Commander of the Planet Trade Organisation. As he got close he threw his arm forward, going to punch the far larger being in the face.

His telekinetic waves of power had no effect on King Cold, who was also able to reach up one hand and catch Gohan’s oncoming fist like it was absolutely nothing. They remained still for a few seconds there as the Commander thought, wondering exactly what to do to the rascal who dared to interrupt his speech. In this time Gohan also came to an understanding of what was happening. He wasn’t sure exactly how, but the explosion before had sent him here…to the future. And not the future of the timeline he now lived in. His future.

Eventually the Psychic Master was tossed upwards, and then grabbed by an ankle. King Cold then threw his arm downwards, slamming the boy into the floor on one side of the stage. This was met by much cheering and applause by King Cold’s equally evil officers. Then, to an even greater encore, Gohan was lifted out of the broken wood and then thrown down again, smacked against the other side of the stage. He was lifted again and thrown down again like this several more times. King Cold began to speak, and with every emphasised word he threw Gohan down another time.

“There is something to be said…a lot, in fact…about pathetic little rats like this one I have here in my hand. They always turn up at the worse times, such as, say…after they have been defeated, and crushed, and broken, and you are making your victory speech explaining just how futile it is for them to even attempt survival. Of course, the only way to really get rid of these disgusting wastes of space is to make sure you crush them so far into the dirt they don’t even know which way they must dig to find the surface again.” As he said this he lifted Gohan off the stage, into the air for everyone to hiss and throw food at. “Hurt them so much that even their loved ones feel it. Break them so much that…” At that very moment Gohan fell unconscious, and as such his blonde Super Saiyan hair turned to a droopy black, and his muscles decreased in size. “That…they shrivel up and their hair loses color? Hmph. Whatever, then.”

With that, King Cold threw the Half Saiyan away like garbage, with incredible strength. Gohan flew through buildings and signposts and walls before coming to a stop five hundred metres away, in one of the normally crowded streets of West city. Today, it was eerily empty. Well, it presumably had been empty for a while now, with most of the humans being dead and all.

Getting up to fight and still not really sure what was going on, Gohan was suddenly surrounded in a veil of purple energy. And then he was gone from that horrible nightmare, back in the timeline he had travelled due as a child. Back on Kanassa, in his ship for some reason, lying on the floor in pain. He didn’t bother to get up for a while, but eventually he did. He wasn’t sure what was happening with Tyrannus, but the man seemed to have acquired ridiculous power.
