“You're losing focus too easily.” Ja'rel spoke, sighing for the thousandth time. The noise was like a drill to the saiyan. Boring into his ear drums every time he heard it. Honestly, he hadn't noticed the old kanassan doing it until the forty third time. By now it was more annoying than the constantly falling concrete block.

“Hard to focus when you won't shut the fuck up.”

As quiet took the room again, Sai closed his eyes, inhaling slowly. Roshi had taught him the calming ability, using it to temper the saiyans rage into something he could refine. Kami improved upon it, making it able to suppress Sai's saiyan instincts and give him clarity so long as he maintained it. It was quickly becoming something of a focus for this training. The sound giving the saiyan something to 'grasp'. One of his eyes twitched as he reached out with his mind, focusing on the concrete block. Physically, he could lift it easily. Telekinetically, the thing was heavier than the core of a dwarf star. The block drifted upwards a few inches, stopping half a foot above the floor, before skyrocketing upwards to slam into the ceiling. The booming sound Caused the saiyan to jump slightly, lose his concentration, and let the black fall back into place with another loud boom.

The room remained silent for a few seconds, the sigh that followed causing Sai's eyes to snap open. “LOOK GOD DAMMIT, I'M NOT FROM PSYCHIC FISH PLANET! WHERE I COME FROM WE DO THINGS PHYSICALLY!”

“...What's a Fi-”

“YOU'RE A FISH!”

The room returned to silence, Sai rising from the ground. Actually, in retrospect, these guys were more like turtles. He'd keep that in mind. “There's gotta be some other way to do this. Something that takes less sitting in a room focusing.”

“Well...you're right. You're not from here.....What do they do on your planet to focus you people? What are you good at?”

“I'm a saiyan. We uhhhh.....wreck things. Fight things, break things, crush things....all of which I should think would be a bit difficult to use as some sort of mental focuser.”

The old kanassan fell quiet, placing a hand against her chin. The hmmm that followed wasn't required, Sai able to see the fact she was thinking to herself. “There....may be a way.” She said as she looked up, leading the saiyan out of the room. They walked through the temple, traversing corridor after corridor until they came upon a wide room. Inside was a frail kanassan, younger than Ja'rel, but older the saiyan.

“This. Is Ja'heim. He will be training you today.” Ja'rel said as she entered the room. The younger kanassan was in a meditative stance, floating a few feet above the floor. “He's pretty scrawny....might be better to find someone beefier if you're gonna let me punch them.”

“Shut up and focus on this.” the old kanassan said as she pointed at the saiyans gem of telepathy. The gem had, in the past, allowed him to enter a place called the astral realm, to fight people half the galaxy away. Shrugging, Sai took a seat and did as she asked. Fortunately for him he'd done this before or I'd have to keep writing about it.

The world turned into a stark white void before him, the falling sensation washing over him. Both were familiar. Slowly the void warped and shuddered, giving form to kanassa...or what looked like it. The planet was different despite its visual similarities. There was something about it Sai found unnerving.

“You find it unnerving...” Someone said from behind, causing the saiyan to turn. What met his gaze was some sort of fifteen foot tall super kanassan monstrosity. “...because you have only ever created mental places. Zones for a fight. I, on the other hand, am powerful enough to create my home planet. My home planet as I would make it.”

“Good for you. Look i'm here to fight your or some junk.”

“....You don't seem to comprehend the implications of-”

“Talking time is over now, my foot says so!” Sai shouted as he charged, leaping into the air to deliver a flying kick to the super kanassans super fucking face. The blow felt solid enough, Sai using the moment of contact to flip backwards and land in a crouch upon the ground. He smirked as he looked up, the grin fading rather immediately as the fist of the massive Kanassan was barreling towards him. He rose quickly, setting himself whilst preparing a guard.

“please! I can block some of Kulars weaker punc-UGHF!”

The ability to stop some of Kulars weaker, less planet destroying punches didn't seem to matter. The blow broke straight through, slamming full force into the saiyans ribs and sending him hurtling to his left. A gesture of Ja'heims open hand caused the planet to quake, a massive hill of stone erupting from the ground just in time for Sai to slam into it. The impact rattled the saiyan, but he fought through it, gritting his teeth together as hard as he could. His hands found the edge of the he'd made in the stone pulling him free. He'd made it two steps before another gesture from Ja'heim sent him barreling through the air to crash into the hill again. Again he the blow rattled him, Sai re-acting much the same way as before, though much more slowly. Again Ja'heim gestured, this time throwing the saiyan clean through the hill he'd made. A smirk crossed his beast like face as he reached out with his free hand, acting as though he were gripping something before yanking his arm back. Sai suddenly snapped backwards, heading in the direction he'd come from before plowing through the hill again. From the stone he wheeled and twisted, crashing into the ground at the feet of the kanassan.

“Do you understand now?” Ja'heim asked, kneeling down to get a better look at the injured Sai. He grunted and panted, managing to get to his knees. Something felt loose in his mouth, but all of his teeth seemed to be in place. He spit, finding blood staining the ground where his saliva struck.

“Sure do.” Sai confirmed, grunting as he pushed himself upwards, landing an uppercut on the kanassan. This time it was Ja'heim who was sent flying. “I'd like to see you do that twice.”

Ja'heim roared, his ascent stopping as suddenly as it had begun. “WISH GRANTED!” He screamed, making another gesture with his hand. Confusion overcame the saiyan as he was suddenly, and violently, ripped from the ground. IT was difficult to make heads or tails of the world when you were spinning and wheeling, but he would guess he was being dragged straight upwards. That couldn't have been good. As quickly as the trip upwards had begun, it reversed. The saiyan careening into the grounds at speeds he didn't think anything could reach without being torn apart. Another grunt escaped Sai as he attempted to fire off an energy wave to slow himself down. The attack didn't seem to help at all, his descent lost no speed before it ended painfully. The ground gave way, a crater forming as he stopped. “You! Are! SO! DEAAAD!” Sai roared as he flew to his feet, saiyan instincts in full drive. Again he'd only taken one or two steps before the whole universe seemed to come at him. The crater deepened, Sai being pushed further into the ground. His knees bent, helping him deal with the stress a bit better. As the weight lifted, Sai jumped, shooting straight up into the air before looking down. The crater appeared to be in the shape of a hand. As if some ginormous monster had decided to slap the planet.

What in the hell kind of power did this guy possess? It went above the normal mental mumbo jumbo Ja'rel had been trying to push on him. Whatever, he'd figure it out when he was done. There really wasn't any time to be gawking in the middle of the sky. An aura erupted around the saiyan, his hair rising to stand on end. “No more games, Ja'heim! You will face me!”

“As you wish.” the kanassan muttered, raising his hands over his head. Several boulders tore themselves loose from the surrounding mountains, all of them simply hovering in the air around Ja'heim. With yet another gesture they all decided to take off towards Sai. The nearly super saiyan grunted, Power flying towards his foe with one fist infront of him. The first boulder collided, exploding into dust as Sai powered his way through. The second came, Sai plowing through this one much the same as the first. The kanassan arranged the next two, sending them single file. The previous two rocks had cost Sai momentum, when he stuck this boulder, it broke, but he came to a stop. The fourth chunk of stone flew through the rubble of the third, managing to connect.

The blinding pain in his face gave him a moments pause, Sai rubbing his face furiously before looking back down towards Ja'heim. The kanassan was pulling more stones from the ground. “I SAID NO MORE GAMES!” Sai roared, unable to keep himself from losing his temper. The planet shook a bit, the ground cracking slightly. Ja'heim looked as surprised as Sai about it, considering he was supposedly creating this place like some kind of god. The stones that had been in the kanassans mental control suddenly propelled themselves against Ja'heim, cracking to rubble immediately after.

Stunned by his sudden loss of control, Ja'heim staggered backwards, not responding as all as the saiyan fell out of the sky fist first. The ground caved as he struck, knocking the kanassan off his feet to lay in the ditch that had formed.

The saiyan said nothing as he grabbed Ja'heim by his shoulders, yanking him upwards. Several punches landed on the kanassans face as Sai released his grip on one shoulder. When he was finally satisfied he let Ja'heim slump backwards into the ditch again. “Hey, kid.” He said, making a gesture with his right hand. Ja'heim was again yanked upwards, this time by Sais will power alone. “Go long!” He quipped as he sent Ja'heim flying in one direction.

A grunt escaped the kanassan as he did what he could to slow himself, managing to stop just short of crashing into a mountain. But Sai had planned for that. A sound of wind rushing past filled the air as Sai appeared, driving both of his feet into Ja'heim. The kick provided the needed force to propel the kanassan into the stone, and then through it.

“I WILL NOT BE BEATEN SO EASILY!” Ja'heim roared, the saiyan feeling something grab his shoulder before he was suddenly pulled through the air. When Ja'heim passed through the other side of the stone he turned, gaining control of his momentum just as Sai came out. Turning with the force he'd gained, he brought Sai around in an arc before slamming the saiyan into the mountain. The collision rumbled the heavens, the stone pillar giving way under the force of impact. Despite that, Sai shrugged it off, rising again. This was, surprisingly, the most fun he'd had in years. The fact he was completely oblivious to his progress in the real world likely helped.

“You CAN NOT beat me here!” Ja'heim roared, one of his hands extending into a long, wickedly curved blade. Clearly the young kanassan had never been pit against an equal. Well, an arguable equal. Sai wasn't exactly a mental juggernaut like some of his allies might have been, but he seemed to be doing rather well. He hadn't died yet, that was always good. He did wish he had a sword right about now, though. Maybe his zweihander. Would have been handy. Really he had no excuse for not having it. Mentally he noted the fact he needed to just start carrying it with him whether or not he thought he would use it.

“You can talk the talk!” Sai shouted, gesturing for Ja'heim to come at him. “But can you resist my fist caving your skull in?”

Ja'heim let a battle cry loose, leaping at the saiyan blade first. Sai whipped his head around, narrowly avoiding the thing. He turned himself inward, delivering an elbow to the kanassans head. Ja'heim roared in fury, using his non weaponized hand to telekinetically push the saiyan away. Sai flew backwards, smiling like an idiot as he placed his hands behind him. They touched the ground, the saiyan pushing off before launching himself at Ja'heim. He attempted a few kicks, one or two actually managing to connect before Ja'heim slammed a palm into an opening in the saiyans guard.

The attack worked mostly as intended, Sai grunting in order to keep his balance as slid backwards. The kanassan moved in to follow, leaving trenches in the ground as he rushed through the air. A smile spread over Sais face as he set himself, taking a spinning step to his right as the blade was thrust at him again. His right foot slammed into the ground, Sai stepping in as he raised one of his hands, palm open. The attack struck Ja'heim in the face, causing him to yet again be propelled backwards like a jet.

“Gettin good.” Sai spoke, throwing both of his hands forward before bringing them to his side. The sound of energy gathering filled the air, a high pitched reverberation that was as iconic as the attack he was preparing. “Kame....hame......HAAAAAAA!” Sai roared as he threw his hands at Ja'heim, letting the kamehameha wave loose.

Apparently Ja'heim wasn't about to have any of that. The Kanassan managed to stop himself, using some manner of telekinetic bullshit, before making several complicated gestures with his not a sword hand. The earth shook, large stone pillars rising up before falling against the saiyan.

“Well shit...” Sai commented as the kamehameha wave suddenly veered around the kanassan. The energy attack turned towards him, picking up speed. Now this was a trap. Not a very good one, but it was a trap.

A simple kick caused on of the pillars to crack in half, falling in the way of the kamehameha. The resulting explosion blew him through the rest of the pillars, but now he was free. Ja'heim charged again, once more trying to stab Sai. The saiyan gestured as though he were throwing a piece of trash to his left, sending Ja'heim off to one side. The kanassan recovered, growling as he launched himself at Sai AGAIN. “RAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” Sai shouted, leaping forward to meet him. They collided, Sai using bukujutsu to slam them into the ground. He sat up, using his fists to slam punches home on Ja'heims face. The kanassan managed to land a backhand on Sai, knocking him off. With a grunt Ja'heim rose, crossing the distance between them before grabbing Sai. “I will destroy you!” Ja'heim roared.

Instead of quipping, as he would normally have been want to do, he simply craned his head up. Sai opened his mouth, exhaling flames into the Kanassans face. A pained cry escaped Ja'heim as he let go, backing away. Sai jumped and spun, driving one of his legs into the side of Ja'heims head before he landed. “HAAAAAAA!” He beloowed, firing a point blank energy wave that sent the kanassan tumbling backwards. The fight slowed for a moment, both taking deep breaths. Finally, Ja'heim managed to collect his thoughts.

“This is the most ridiculous thing i've ever experienced!” Ja'heim shouted as Sai was getting back up. “This is the astral realm! The strength of mind is supposed to weigh more here than the physical might of any one being!” slowly his sword hand returned to normal. “How can one so pigheaded and clearly reliant on nothing but his fists be so capable in this place!?”

“Simple, Ja'heim.” Ja'rel spoke. Both fights turned to look at a shimmering doorway in the middle of space. Both raised their brow as she walked in. She wasn't old. She wasn't scrawny. She damn sure wasn't a kanassan. This was something new. She looked humanoid, but instead of being flesh and blood, or whatever it was Ja'heim was made of here, she appeared to be made of pure energy “He IS your mental rival, but he finds a different way to focus himself than our race. Apparently these Saiyans focus themselves through battle. By fighting against you, he has brought out his full mental power.”

“Can you brain turtles stop yammering? Things were just getting good here.” Sai asked, setting himself in stance again.

Ja'heim bared his teeth in response, eyes filling with crimson rage. Literally.

“Do not lose your temper, Ja'heim, the saiyan will easily best you if you d-”

The larger kanassan flew through the air again, both of his fists extending forward. “You need more moves.” the saiyan spoke, a gesture of his hand sending Ja'heim into the ground.

“I WILLLLLL BREAAAAAAKKKKK YOUUUUUU!” Ja'heim screeched, erupting from the ground.

“Unlikely.” Ja'rel commented as her student closed the gap between himself and Sai. Briefly the two exchanged blows, culminating in a vicious uppercut that sent the kanassan spiraling upward into the air.

“Yeah, I've fought Kular, and i've never been 'broken'. You come try that shit again when you can break planets with your punches.”

“You keep mentioning this kular.” Ja'rel said, craning her head up to watch Ja'heim fly. “Who is that?”

“Friend of mine, justice league. Lismian with the habit of turning into some kinda werewolf. I'm pretty sure he's allergic to silver, but I've never tried it. Probably should sometime.”

The female kanassan lowered her head to look Sai in the face. “Is this.....Kular on the planet now?”

“Probably. I haven't been keeping track of them. Why?” Sai asked, looking down just as Ja'heim slammed into the earth. Ja'rel didn't answer, simply placing a hand against her chin. Again Ja'heim burst from the ground, screaming bloody fury as he rushed at Sai. The saiyan threw a barrage of punches in response, causing Ja'heim to stagger backwards. Monopolizing, he stepped in as he continued the barrage of punches.

“You! Make! A good! PUNCHING BAG!” Sai explained as he employed a serious of spinning kicks to the face before knocking Ja'heim over with a blow that caught him in the chest.

Ja'heim climbed back to his feet, an aura flashing around him as he threw his hands forward. “Enough, Ja'heim.” Ja'rel spoke, a gesture of her hand putting the younger kanassan in a series of binds. “He has bested you and is a fellow member of saljuk. You shouldn't be trying to end his life.”

“STOP HOLDING ME BACK, JA'REL! THIS PATHETIC MONKEY WILL DIE FOR HIS TRANSGRESSIONS!”

“Why is everyone always calling me a monkey?” Sai asked, placing his hands against his hips. His transformation ended, hair falling down into position once more.

“Ja'heim.” Ja'rel said calmly, the older more experienced kanassan telekinetically lifting the younger into the air. “I will not have back sass like the other masters. As punishment, find your way out.”

With a simple gesture Ja'heim was sent rocketing into the horizon, eventually fading from sight. “Come, Sai Penin, you have proven yourself here.”

In a flash he found himself back in the real world. Looking above him, he saw the massive stone being held aloft perfectly. It took a few moment, but Sai realized he was the one doing it.

“Remember that feeling, Saiyan. It was what you fought Ja'heim to achieve. The mind and body working together in perfect harmony....Come, Sai Penin. Tell me of this Kular, again.”

Hours later

“I see. You should keep an eye on your friend. He sounds as if he is....close to the brink.” Ja'rel spoke, finally looking away from the game infront of her. Sai scratched his head as he mumbled in the affirmative. How the hell did you play this game? Every time he thought he'd figured it out, the rules changed. Sai cautiously placed his hand on a red piece, considering the move before sliding it forward three spaces. Ja'rel looked to the table, absent mindedly taking the die beside her piece before casting it. 18. “Arteaum.” She spoke before taking Sai's red piece. “...did you hear me?”

“Uh huh, brink and all that. Close to the edge......how the fuck do you play this game?” Sai asked finally, tipping his lead piece over as she'd said to do if he no longer felt like playing. “Forget the game. Your friend could be in danger. If the order finds out.”

“If there's one person in this galaxy that doesn't have any brain mojo, it's Kular. He's even more belligerant than I am when it comes too......everything. The order wouldn't have any reason to recruit him.”

“That is not Saljuk's only aim!” Ja'rel shouted, realizing how worked up she'd gotten as Sai raised an eyebrow at her. “...I can not tell you more of this now. You're not high enough in the order to know. But you should consider getting your friend out of here.”

“If it's such a problem, how do I raise my rank in the order so you CAN tell me about it?” Sai asked, rising to his feet. He was ready to go do some real training after all this thinking.

Ja'rel sighed, slapping a hand repeatedly against her forehead. Finally she stopped and looked to Sai. “Meet me back here in the morning. We will take your final test.”

“Bitchin.” Sai said as he turned, crossed the room to the door and exited it. The short walk to the temple entrance seemed shorter than usual. Also devoid of guards. That was a bit odd. The temple also seemed to be shaking slightly. Probably just his imagination....probably.

An aura flashed around him as he set foot in the forest, a simple kick propelling him through the canopy. He had to prepare for this test thing. Hopefully it involved punching....
