There are tales that one cannot possibly fathom. Tales of bravery beyond calling, betrayal beyond reproach, and deaths so horrible that those that hear of it weep for the rest of their lives, inconsolable. It would never be one of these for Rei, who's life had been through too many twists and turns up to this point. Although he would prefer not to have many more, it was not in his control to know what fate would befall him. Rei had decided to go into town, his Transence form in a good swing. It changed hair colors, from raven black to the white that was in his drow form. However, this form had hair that was messy and spiked out, as opposed to his usual straight and oil slicked hair. He was at a bar in Central City, one that the locals called that Spirit Bar.

The name was actually based on a joke, rather than anything that they thought was true. The truth of the matter was, in the parallel world of the Tiste Andii that lived within Kurald Galain, spirits did haunt them. They did not have a bar here, but had an inn that mirrored this bar, but was much larger. The lodgings at this inn were just as old fashioned as the ebony lumber that was used to build it. And the residence switched out much less often than that of the bar here on Avalon. This was also not Rei'd first visit to the bar. He was enjoying a tankard with a few friends that he had made at the bar. They were Paladin hopefuls, and he was glade to tell them about his time as one; well, it was Quon's time, but it might as well have been his for how he felt about it.

"-And then the Saiyan, while lookin' for another, didn't see me. Stab!" The Drow made a violent thrust motion with his two arms, just barely missing his tankard, "And then the maggot fell to the ground. That duel was one of those that turned into a damned shit fest, and quickly. Saiyans, y'see, live to fight." He leaned back as he took an impressive swig of the ale and his audience all laughed or had serious faces on. The ex-paladin that wanted to get back in asked a quick question and Rei answered it with a small smile on his face, "You asked why I've no scars? The answer is the Avalon medical teams. They've kept m'up and runnin' all these years. If ya know what I mean."

Another fit of laughter from the group came, and a call for the last round of the night was called for Rei's table. Rei had wanted to pay for it, but one of the hopefuls had taken all the bills so far. He would make a crafty one, one day. A fiery red haired Avalanian (he dyed his hair due to liking Earth) was one that he had seen in a bar fight, and could take on three to four drunkards at once, and that was while drunk himself; he had a good sense of who he was, and who he wanted to be. Truly, he was the type that Rei would have liked to have had with him, on his journey.

But if there was one thing that he was to be careful of, it was getting close to these people. One slip up, one thing that he said he did that Quon was known to have done, and he would become suspect. So far, he was able to keep everyone fooled, and he was grateful for that. The drow narrowed his eyes as the last of the drunk Paladin hopefuls left the table. One had stumbled to another table, or rather, that had been his intent. However, he now shared the floor with stale ale, piss, and other things that Rei decided not to think on. He took a last swig of his ale and decided that it was time to leave. But then there was this thing before him. It was not all the way transparent, and it held the 'skin' color of a Tiste Andii. He blinked a moment, then a second time, them muttered, "I didn't think that this weak ale could make me see things."

And then he jumped as the being replied in an annoyed voice, "Seein' things? The hell?"
