Castiel stood atop Kami’s lookout, wondering if the great master saw the changes in him as Morgan had. He shook his head, wistfully; their last meeting had not been a pleasant one. The changes that he had undergone in the fire temple were demonic in nature and had closed his mind to her so that the only way they could see each other was if either one travelled to visit. There would be no more telepathic pillow-kissing sessions and no more telepathic support from Morgan to him. There was a small part of Castiel, the part that lead him to disobey the higher ups to seek free will that yearned for her presence in his mind again. But in his new role as the Lord of Light, or Fire Lord as the demons called him, Castiel had no time for attachments. He was a lone soldier walking the path of the light. Such is the reason why the presence of a part-demon abomination didn’t stir the same feelings of anger that it once might have. According to Asmodeus, the demon lord who could communicate with the fallen angel telepathically, the being’s name was Shiro. According to the customs of the demon lords with which Castiel had communication, the abomination known as Shiro would be given a chance to prove his worth. If he succeeded, the demons would be satisfied and he would be allowed to play out his natural life in the mortal realm. If not, he would be summoned below in order to pay his dues in eternal servitude. “Kami-sama,” said Castiel, sensing the presence of the guardian behind him, “there is a demon on Earth. I require the use of your instantaneous movement to get there.” “I will take you there, Castiel, but beware the tasks of your new masters. You would be wise to heed the warnings of your angel friend.” “I do not need a lecture from you, old man.” Morgan had given Castiel an ultimatum of sorts. She told him that each step towards the fire was a step away from her and that he needed to make a choice. Grudgingly, the guardian of the earth transported Castiel to the part-demon’s location before withdrawing without a word. “Boy,” said Castiel, his voice all business, “you have the demon blood in you, but you live as a human. This cannot be permitted. I have been charged with testing your strength. If you succeed; I will grant you my seal and you will not be bothered by demon-kind unless you wish to be. But should you fail; your life will end and you will spend eternity in servitude.” It did not appear that this youth was well-equipped for a fight. There were no weapons to speak of and no armour to protect him. Whereas Castiel had the hooded tunic that was as much a part of him as his new fire abilities and the magic vest that was imbued with the holy might of the archangels themselves. Castiel could have ended it quickly, but elected to give the lad a fighting chance. The demons would not want the test to be too difficult lest the youth not be tested at all by it. And so it began, with Castiel walking calmly towards the boy who was no doubt wondering what he had ever done to deserve such a fate. When he got within punching range, Castiel threw four quick punches in the general direction of the boy’s face before pivoting on his left foot to deliver a roundhouse right kick at the boy’s temple and follow up with a right elbow at the same place once he had completed his revolution. The final attack in the salvo was simple, yet hopefully effective. Castiel stepped towards the boy and aimed to punt him into the air. He followed up by teleporting behind him and using a hammer fist at the back of his head to hopefully send him crashing back to earth. Word Count: 664

Getting back from school was always such a drag, especailly when the sun was doing its outmost best again to scorch those who lived and walked on the earth to no more than heaps of burned meat. Shiro wasn't really having his best day, that was obvious from the angry look in his visible eye and the scratches and scrapes on his hands and face. "Ugh, ever since that goddamn formchanger entered my life, I've done nothing than fight and survive. Not really what I saw as my possible future," The boy said, while turning to the small road straight through the city park."Someone just kill me right now and release me of this annoyance called life." He had not gone to far, as in a sudden moment a man appeared in front of him out of nowhere. Surprised and slightly mindboggled, Shiro tried to understand what the guy was saying to him, listening to things like 'demon' and 'test', it all looked like another test from Suigintou, but not a single person had ever called him a demon before. After all, wasn't he just a normal human being? "I never thought God would take the jokes of killing me so serious," The young man said with an uncertain and quite frightened look on his face, not really certain what he had to think of the strange person that had appeared in front of him. Not even able to give a single reaction, Shiro was punched in the face repeatedly, forcing him to take a few steps back. Only, when he did take his last step back, he could feel something collide with the side of his head...twice. Staggering aside, the young man tried to grasp the situation, still bewildered by what was actually transpiring at that moment, still confused as to why the man even bothered calling him a 'demon'. Time to think wasn't really granted by God, as Shiro could feel all the remaining air in his lungs be forcefully removed by a hard punt against his chest, throwing him upwards, dropping his schoolbag in the process. Dazy because of what was happening, Shiro's grasp of the ability to fly kicked in to late, when he noticed the mysterious man appear behind him, slamming him down to earth again with a hard hammerfist between his shoulderblades. Crashing into the grass and dirt of the park, the highschool student of Orange High finally understood that this wasn't the time to be thinking, but a time to act, even if his opponent was substantially stronger and faster, if this was a decent fight, the stranger would've at least been so kind to give his name. "That hurt," the young man said calmly, while getting back up his feet, throwing off his vest, while looking at the stranger with a cold look in his blue, visible eye."You certainly pack a punch, stranger. Though, I've had worse." Without a moment of hesitation nor any kind of warning, Shiro rushed towards the mysterious man, vanishing from sight only a few feet away from the man, only to reappear behind him, performing a violent dropkick aimed at the back of the man's head. This was quickly followed by Shiro's other foot coming down, while the young man made a clean forward spin in the air. It seemed the boy had accepted the trial now. Wc:563

A shadow crossed Castiel’s face as the part-demon had the gall to question him. His red eyes narrowed with irritation, the fallen angel almost missed the part demon’s attack as it happened much faster than he would have expected from the youth. As he turned to regard the attack, part of him acted instinctively. Almost without thinking, Castiel launched his fist forward in a punch aimed at the youth’s knee that would disrupt his attack and potentially do some serious deep-tissue damage. He continued the counterattack by springing into the air and delivering a straight kick to the part demon’s one visible eye. The second attack came as a determined continuation of the first, interrupted attack with the boy’s foot drilling down towards Castiel’s face. The lord of light slid to the left as the attack went harmlessly past his cheek. As the face of his foe soared past his own, Castiel attempted to drive his elbow into it before springing lightly into the air and driving his heel towards the youth’s solar plexus. Castiel kept in close to his foe, dashing after him so that there was less than a metre of space between the two. After a few moments of shadowing the youth, the fire lord let loose a breath of his namesake. Emanating from his mouth and empowered by his time in the fire temple, the blast scorched the air between them as it rushed towards the part demon’s face. Word Count: 243

It seemed that the stranger was not going to answer any of the boy's questions, remaining silent the entire time like a mute, but on the other hand using convincingly superior technique and showin the difference between a mere beginner in power and those who had followed their path for a long time already. The mysterious person's anticipations and reactions on Shiro's initial assault, showed that difference perfectly. While the young man's attacks were calculated and precise in displacement, they lacked precious timing, timing which the stranger did seem to have and used splendidly as a counter to the highschool kid's crude combination of attacks; with a punch driven at the boy's knee, forcing a scream of pain out of the boy, while a surprisingly fast kick to the face silenced the scream quickly. A following change in pace and placement of the stranger's attck only made Shiro's efforts seem even more fruitles than before, as the man's elbow crashed against the youngster's nose with full force, throwing Shiro backwards with great force, which most likely and unintentionally to the stranger, resulted in the young man's eyepatch being thorn off and his other, golden eye being suddenly visible. Not that it mattered though, when the stranger's heel drove itself into the young man's abdomen, pushing his organs together with great amounts of strength behind that downward kick. However, the breath of fire, which had been sent towards the young man just a mere moments after that kick, suddenly exploded harmlesly into small dying embers and sparks, when Shiro unleashed a high-pitched scream at the incoming heat, succesfully dissipating it before touching the ground again. Using the force of his landing though, the kid pushed himself back towards the stranger, while quickly holding out his left arm, aiming to crush the opponent's defence and progression with a forced lariat, by trying to slam his left arm as a leverage against the man's chest, which would be instinctively followed by the boy's hands clenching together in an aim to smash his hands in one move against the man's face, as if he was throwing a hammer. An ear-splitting scream served as an effective counter of Castiel’s dragon-breath, but nevertheless the fight was going according to plan. The youth, while plucky, was losing and losing badly. The demons would decide whether or not he had put up a good enough show once Castiel was done with him and then he would go back to Kami-sama’s to face the ire of the guardian for once again getting involved with the demons. He shook his head, irritated at the thought of the shrivelled old prune getting all high and mighty about getting involved with “forces he couldn’t possibly hope to understand”. Where did the guardian get off speaking to a god in this way? Irritated at the thought of the guardian of the earth, Castiel stepped towards the youth and aimed a kick with the heel of his right boot at the oncoming shoulder in order to disrupt the charge. It wasn’t angelic of him to take his anger out on the boy, but at this point he was pretty bloody sick of being angelic. Keeping himself balanced on one leg, Castiel lashed out with the same foot in order to strike the teenager across the face. It was at that point that the fallen angel noticed the eye colour disparity in the boy. One eye was normal, but the other was a rich shade of gold that had to be a link to his demon side. Castiel had to hand it to the underworld folk; they knew what they were talking about. As the follow-up hammer blow angled towards his face, Castiel aimed to seize the boy’s wrists and roll backwards in order to kick him up into the air. Once he was in mid-air, the lord of light sought to bring him back to earth with a bang by stomping on the middle of the boy’s back as he flew. In his final attack, Castiel clapped his hands together, ensuring that the boy’s head was between them in the hope that he could disorient his foe by disrupting his inner ear. The culmination of the strike was a kick aimed at the solar plexus that would send the boy flying backwards once more. Word Count: 366

At first it seemed that things were finally turning in Shiro's favor, but no matter the appearance of it, the young man knew all to well the difference in level and pure physical prowess between him,and the mysterious man. He had meet that fellow called Tapion in the Astral Realm not to long ago, who was certainly a lot more powerful, but while tapion remained refined and reluctant to actually hurt Shiro, the stranger couln't be more brutal, more savage in his attacks, it seemed completely odd. His second attempt to hit the stranger turned out to be just an equal faliure as the earlier attempt to make the mysterious man swallow at least his pride. The lariat failed, with a strong stomp on his shoulder pushing him out of his direction and also hampering his momentum, making it so that gravity in all its efforts, managed to pull the boy back down. However, he was not even given the chance to fall or drop down intentionally, when the guy's foot slid roughly across his face, making the boy's nose bleed and hisleft cheek started to swell up, somewhat distorting the boy's 'cool' looks. With a gripping sensation and a rough kick, the way down turned into an upward flight again, with jolts of pain searing through every muscle in the boy's body, quickly followed by an almost back breaking stomp, sending him back down to the ground, face first crashing into the dirt of the parc, so beaten up, he couln't feel the grass tickling his nose anymore. The clap of hands against his ears, made a sharp pain run through the boy's nervous system, making him shiver, before feeling all air being forced out of his lungs when the stranger gave him a heavy kick. Landing and sliding backwards over the ground, till he eventually halted by placing his right hand on the ground, looking for a moment at the stranger, while wiping the blood from his face with his left hand. If expressions could kill, his expression was extremely lethal. Shiro didn't get it, he saw no reason to be attacked and no reason for the attack to continue. it was tiresome, if the guy wanted hm dead or so, why didn't he end it already, in stead of pushing the young man so hard. "You said that it wasnt permitted to have demon blood," Shiro said, while getting back up again, staggering and almost tripping over his own feet."I have no memory of what happened before this year, but I do have a birth cetificate, which proves I was born as a human, so I wonder where or how you would have heard about me having demon blood?" Not waiting for the answer, the boy vanished from his spot, reappearing right in front of the stranger with the aim to pour every last bit of strength he had in his final attack, swinging his fist wildly towards the mysterious' man's face. The boy glared daggers at Castiel; not a surprising reaction considering the beating that the fallen angel was inflicting upon him. When he was asked how he knew about the youth’s demon blood, Castiel simply laughed. He could have subsequently responded that he was in communion with demons and angels; or that he had power from both within him, but instead he elected to give the boy a demonstration. Castiel raised his arms, his body beginning to glow with light as two great fiery wings burst from his back. His eyes glowed orange with power and his skin took on a bronze sheen as it reflected the glow from his wings. “Call it divine intuition,” Castiel replied with a smirk, before reverting to his regular form. He was yet to become powerful enough to allow his full grace to be displayed in this realm, but the time would soon come where he could transform at will. The youth responded by moving faster than Castiel would have thought possible in his state and drilled a brutal punch towards the fallen angel’s perfect face. Smirking, Castiel moved one hand to catch the oncoming fist while bringing the other up to slam the heel of his palm into the wrong side of the youth’s elbow in an attempt to dislocate it. The punch was thrown out of desperation and appeared to have a finality to it that stayed Castiel’s hand for the time being. “Had enough?” Word Count: 244

It surprised him, that the stranger was such a different being than himself. Those wings, it made him think about Suigintou's wings in a way, allthough these seemed to be on fire and not covered in shadows like Suigintou's raven wings. Shiro instantly felt the pain in his right eye, the golden iris glowing strongly, as if it reacted to the display given by the stranger. While using everything he had, it just didn't seem enough to even hit the stranger even once, a frustrating, yet understandble fact, especially when a searing pain reached through his arm, when the sound of his elbow joint snapping and popping made the hybrid fall to the ground, where he landed painfully on his knees, his arm dangling at his side, while the boy seemed to throw up because of the pain. Wiping his mouth off with his usable arm, the youth got back up to is feet, trembling like a leaf in the wind due to exhaustion. "Do as you please," the boy suddenly said, while holding his chin up and looking straight at Castiel with a fierce expression in his eyes. A certain steadfast stance could be found in his composure, an understanding of his own insignificance, but also the denial of the same idea."I'm no match for you, You win." Wc:220

Castiel felt no joy at crippling the youth. There was no momentary surge of happiness at his success. There was just emotionless satisfaction at a job well done. And he was satisfied that the kid was progressing well enough to be of use to the demons once they called on him. They would call on him; that much was a certainty. What he had said to the child was a lie. It was a falsehood designed to manipulate the puppet strings in just the right way. The important part was that it had worked. Everything the youth had was poured into the battle and he was still defeated. It would either break the boy or it would convince him to work harder. No doubt the demons would see to it that it was the latter. Castiel nodded in response to the boy’s surrender, unsure of what he might say to the lad. He wanted to remain useful to the demons for the moment because he enjoyed the power that they granted to him. “You acquitted yourself…” Castiel began, with the air of somebody divulging a reluctant secret, “passably, I suppose. But you are on a knife’s edge. Take your growth seriously, for not doing so will mean a life of servitude in the underworld.” And then Castiel was just gone. Word Count: 220
