Heavy laden clouds stretched over the crimson twilight expanse. It was reminiscent of bygone days. Moisture in the air clung to the skin, ruining the atmosphere of the moment. Apokolips was a dry world, a dead world. Rain would have dared not defy the will of the planets Lord and Master, would not have considered slighting the God of Darkness by falling upon his unmolested head. This planet was not Apokolips, a fact he was growing ever more aware of with each passing moment. “If only...” Whispered the low, grumbling voice of Darkseid. He was levitating over a half destroyed city, looking down upon a tall, silver colored tower which overshadowed a pathetic collection of tents and lean-to’s. Thousands had obviously died in whatever had wrecked this ‘West City’. That left a few hundred million, perhaps a couple billion, left on this sorry world. In time they would be culled as well. But, not before... Darkseid’s head snapped to the left. A whisper of power in the distance, an echo of strength that once had been his own. “Interesting...” His eyes blinked, his vision zoomed in, crossing thousands of miles in a moment. As he watched Darkseid realized he was seeing the demise of powerful, sentient life. Mortality... Delicious. Beheading... Flaying... “Interesting...” Darkseid waited until the most powerful one was alone before making his move. He appeared behind the man, standing with arms crossed before his chest. “You amuse me,” he announced, and then waited for the other to turn towards him. “You possess power... power I could use, power I could turn towards better ends than whatever pathetic ambitions your mortal mind can conjure...” Without waiting another moment Darkseid’s right hand flashed out. An invisible force would try to seize itself around the throat of the one named ‘Chaos’. Walking forward ever so slowly, Darkseid’s eyes blazed red. “You are stronger than me... I find that fact offensive, albeit undeniable.” Each moment was a struggle to contain the power of this behemoth of power, but he would continue to hold him, to try to regain control over him, until he stopped struggling. “Tell me how you attained it, Mortal. Tell your god, Tell me- Darkseid.” The almost nine foot tall Lord of Apokolips strode forward, attempting to force this powerful mortal into submission the entire time, until he was standing so close his outstretched arm was bare inches from the throat of this ‘Chaos’ he was attempting to overpower. ![]()

[Battle Recorder + Combat Rune] Blame us, 'cause we are who we are. Hate us, 'cause you'll never get that far The Cosmic Regent was granted the warm embrace of silence for just a few moments. A large power level accompanying a rough voice appeared behind him, his sharp eyes shot over his shoulder and focused on the new arrival. An acrid scent carried by the figure wrinkled his nostrils. The creature’s physical stature did justice to the immense Ki Chaos could feel radiating from it. He lifted a single black eyebrow and spun to fully face the massive figure. The strange looking titan’s rough voice grated against his ears, each word echoing a terrible sound like steel being ripped. This voice...was not from this world. He tilted his head as his scarlet gaze drank in each detail of the massive figure. It was a strange sight indeed, with no hair, gray skin, and stones for teeth. Chaos allowed the arrogant thing to finish spewing its dribble before offering his retort. “Pathetic ambitions you say? Wh-- ach!” A blast of icy hot adrenaline hit the pit of his stomach, his eyes widened in shock and desperation for oxygen. What the hell was this guy? What kind of power is this? The thick muscles of his neck and shoulders bulged as they strained against the invisible force. Dense veins snaked across his throat while he fought against his assailant's grasp hoping that a pulse of telepathic energy would weaken the hold long enough for him to gain some footing. He steadied his breathing to save precious oxygen and get a grip on his bearings. Simple Telekinesis. Nothing more. Breath, just breath. Breath, just... His face flushed red but eventually the mysterious hold weakened when the arrogant celestial was nearly close enough to touch... Not a moment was wasted as Chaos flashed into an offense. A loud snarl echoed across the flattened landscape and a black flame erupted around his form carrying a chorus of shrieking souls. The wailing spirits’ anguished cries echoed eerily in the desolate landscape providing a fitting choir for the intruder’s funeral. The setting sun sat just at the horizon painting a great shadow from the two titans framing Chaos as he twisted at the hips and sent his tightly clenched left fist towards Darkseid’s thick jaw. The strike carried enough force to life Chaos into the air, and hopefully the foolish Darkseid too, and he brought his other hammer down on top of the celestial's head. A burst of pressure with the force of a sonic boom exploded from where they stood from the power of his punch. His boots barely grazed to floor, not even disturbing the dirt on his descent until he continued his attacks. He glided around the large figure while hurtling precisely aimed hooks and knees at Darkseid’s ribs in alternating fashion, the speed of his strikes blurred together giving the illusion he had extra limbs. Each strike was expertly aimed by the veteran brawler, each intended to hit soft spots for most creatures with the force to reduce bone to powder. The furious assault was primitive and brutal, but intended to overwhelm. And...he was just a bit pissed off at Darkseid’s rude introduction. At the conclusion of his bone shattering combo he slid backwards, a crimson ripple appearing above him, as he fell into a back handspring and a matte black katana was caught all in one motion. His fingers wrapped tightly around the heavily wrapped hilt appreciating the familiar weight with a smile. He rushed Darkseid, legs pumping like pistons as he neared the intruder before propelling him into a flip. He landed behind his target without a sound and his eyes flashed with malice; Darkseid wouldn’t know what hit him. Moving with all the skill of a ninja and twice the stealth, Chaos sliced the black blade across the back of the hulking man’s knees. It was always something that marveled Chaos; the way a blade could carve through flesh and bone like butter. Like a butcher, if you knew where and how to cut you could knife through the thickest of materials, and the mirroring three strikes to each leg were intended to sever tendons and cripple. His feverish movements were silent, the masterful swordplay and precision was breathtaking to behold. Veins pushed against his skin as muscles tensed with each strike, stabbing violently yet gracefully at the outsides of Darkseid's hips to sever vital portions of the posterior chain. The katana in his hand burst into a shower or crimson particles but an indigo glow replaced its presence. His entire arm seemed to be luminescence as the energy reached its peak in an instant, fueled by an device in his armor made from Avalon’s technology. He didn’t wait to see if Darkseid turned, or if he even could after potentially being chopped down, and jumped back several feet before unleashing his attack. From his extended hand unleashed a shower of black and violet orbs numerous enough to cover the massive form of Darkseid twice over. Gail force winds buffeted him as stray bullets erupted across the landscape with terrifying results. The overwhelming barrage reflected his desire to see this monster reduced to a pile of gore. The desert tremored in unison with the crescendo of explosions for what seemed like an eternity (though it were only a few hellish seconds). Deafening explosions from the release of his power polluted the air. Thick plumes of dust and smoke began to blot out the sinking sun providing him with a game to play with himself; destroy his opponent before nightfall. By his calculations he had...oh...say...five minutes. Yes, five minutes to defeat and otherwise completely humiliate the foolish colossus. "You call yourself a god while admitting I am more powerful? Well my little god, let me show you true power," he gloated. He casually rolled his shoulders, his senses searching for the strange wannabe deity. His keen Ki sensing ability locked onto Darkseid and Chaos found him even with smoke and dirt obscuring his sight. Darkseid’s imposing figure was outlined just in front of him as he sprinted forward with his fist raised. If this monster wanted Chaos to call it ‘God’, it would require more than cheap telekinetic tricks. Perhaps he would answer all of Darkseid’s questions before he crushed that thick grey head beneath his boot.

He broke free... He broke... FREE? There was an instant of complete annoyance at this amalgamation of sentience, and then Darkseid's body lost all cohesiveness. Chaos' attacks sliced through thick, black smoke. The thunderous clap of energy that followed the attack sent his molecules out like an expanding explosion of pitch darkness, before snapping back together in front of Chaos once more. "I am your God, mortal. You can not..." Fists struck his omnipotent form, crashing like waves upon a beach whose sand had become sheets of hardened steel. Darkseid smiled. "Harm me." He crossed his arms upon his chest once more as interested eyes watched the aggressive display. A sword materialized in the air before Chaos, and then he was attacking again... "You can not even..." Eyes widened in complete surprise as he actually felt a powerful force upon the backs of his legs. First one and then the... What surprised him, what caused his eyes to jerk open in complete stupefaction was when his left leg shifted forward a few inches. "... Move me." Darkseid finished the thought. "ENOUGH!" The booming, basso profondo of the ancient god rolled across the battlefield. Shadowy tendrils of power whipped out from his limbs, reaching out to bind the pissant who was trying to accost his own GOD! Darkseid turned then, eyes blazing in the deepest of crimsons as he stared at the manling who was preparing to launch a rather powerful attack towards him. The shadow tendrils became more ferverous in their motions, tightening their grip. "Bow before Darkseid!" He roared, the last syllable of which was drowned out by the successful firing of the attack. The energy bolt blast wave rolled over and all around Darkseid, leaving very little of note left standing within the general vicinity. A translucent black orb of power surrounded the massive deity, his arms were crossed in front of his face. As he lowered his arms he spoke to himself, for Chaos had shifted backwards before the actual attack was launched; "Now... I am annoyed." Chaos came at him then. The Apololiptian master of life and death waited until the final moment before lashing out with another wave of power, attempting to seize and squeeze the entire body of this insolent shitstain. "Do me the favor of screaming if this hurts." He spoke, ignoring the carbon scoring along his armor and body, ignoring the fact that for the first time since the Star he had been sealed in all those years ago had burned out, he felt pain. Darkseid took one step forward, and flicked out with a single thrust of kinetic power from his forefinger, unleashed as his thumb released it.

What’s a god to a nonbeliever? Surprise flashed in Chaos’ cabernet eyes. The Cosmic Regent had a significant advantage in power, but Darkseid held his own and pulled off feats Chaos never expected. Even now a mysterious black substance was wrapped around his limbs. Perhaps Darkseid was a magician. But a god? Just as he was within striking distance his fist was frozen in mid air, his body being compacted by some invisible force as if the gravity around him suddenly skyrocketed. He strained against the force; veins accented his efforts by popping to the surface of his arms trying desperately to fuel his muscles into action. The combined magic tendrils and mysterious force began to ball him up. His teeth ached as he gnashed his jaw and let a throaty growl rumble out. Shit. Darkseid took a step forward, lifted his hand towards Chaos, and with a sudden burst of effort the Regent broke free of the strange force yet again. His aura flared around him madly at the release. It happened so suddenly, like glass shattering, but he was free; even the black tendrils burst into a dark mist away from his body. His feet shuffled to the right as his body twisted moving him to the deity’s left side. As he did so a powerful blast of energy left a three foot crater where he had stood not an instant before. A ripple in reality met his outstretched hand. He pulled at the black hilt that poked from the portal and freed a dark flamberge. The ancient weapon had a white double-sided blade that snaked the full four feet of its length. The entire length of the blade was ablaze with blue-grey coldfire. Although the flickering substance resembled fire, it emitted no heat; quite the opposite. Then, Chaos himself seemed to flicker from existance, like an extinguished flame, the static-y sound of his speed teleport permeating the area. He appeared on Darkseid's left, an attack already slicing through the air. The pale blade flashed diagonally across his target, from shoulder blade to pelvis. Freezing flames trailed each movement. He ripped the weapon back across Darkseid’s front to his back forming an X with the previous slash. His right foot slide back to steady his balance, the sword brought close to his body, and then he struck by thrusting the blade at each shoulder. He hoped to gauge the reflexes of this ‘god’ with the blindingly fast strikes. He flowed gracefully from one attack to another; no wasted movements in his form, each strike practiced and honed over two decades and countless victories. Chaos couldn’t be sure what Darkseid was, but a god was not it. The Regent had thought of himself as a god at one time but what set him apart was that he learned to recognize his mortality (though he never fully accepted it). He would teach this fool the same heartbreaking lesson by breaking him down inch by fucking inch if need be. How could somebody like Darkseid claim to have ascended to the power of a deity when such a title escaped Chaos? Bullshit! God’s don’t feel pain. “Hah!” He swung the sword with both hands over head before slamming it down the false god’s side with the power to split a man cleanly. Another grunt could be heard over the roar of flames, the blade flashing across Darkseid’s location at hip level. His eyes glinted at the realization that his previous attacks at the hulking creature’s knees had struck with some success. Like a vampire lusting for gore his blood heated. There were few things more enjoyable then teaching a malcontent their place. Dark shadows set over his face as the sun dipped a few more inches below the horizon. He spun low with his weapon extended and rotated twice like a cyclone covered in razor blades intent on severing at least the left leg, the one closest to him which would be the hardest for the monster to defend. His spin finished with him standing and the blur left hand darting out went for Darkseid’s throat. He wasn’t one for fancy tricks. He had always preferred to be more hands on, as evidenced by the furious choke he attempted. Coldfire hissed along the length of the lengthy weapon as he stabbed towards Darkseid’s abdomen hoping to see the blade erupt from the other side in a bloody shower. Sweat had barely dried from his last fight and here he was again in a battle to the death with his thick black locks clinging to his face until disturbed by bursts of pressure. Just how many people wanted to die today? “Do you know how many men have told me the very same things you have. ‘I am a god.’ ‘I am all powerful.’ Blah blah blah. Most of them are dead. But I--I am still here," he beamed. “It is time you learn your place in my Empire.”

Darkseid roared in pain as the blade cut across his arm, side, back. Thin lines of blood surfaced across his ironhard skin. Chaos came on again then, slicing and attacking again, and again... At first the god was able to ignore the blades, focusing on increasing his fortitude through simply will power- but the more and more attacks that came in, the harder it became, the more each individual atack began to hurt. "ENOUGH!" he roared again, his body losing consistency once more, the shadowy particulates of his body flowing a dozen yards from this Chaos, before reforming. His eyes blazed, his mouth trembled in anger. He spoke. "Your lack of faith changes nothing, mortal. Once, my armies of Parademons and Furies covered this universe, and the higher dimensions. Once, I had the power and strength to take on the entire realm of gods. Once... I was unstoppable, AND SHALL BE AGAIN!" He bellowed, raising one fist into the air, loosing a terrible, swift expanding wave of his deific power in a rush. Darkseid breathed hard, annoyed at the pain and the fatigue that were beginning to set in. "RAAA!!!" he near-screamed, the low intonation of his voice revealing his well concealed sense of futility. How... how had he become so insignificant. How had his power waned so that a simple 'Emperor' of mortals could stand against him. He had to have his power, or at least... its method of attainment. As his wretched voice lashed out, he gripped his hand back together, drawing back in all of that unleashed energy- recalling it to a single orb... An orb he hoped to catch Chaos within. "In the end, not even a god can defeat an entire pantheon alone. But neither could I be killed. The gods, these... 'Kai's' tricked me, trapped me within a Star- knowing it would be the only thing that could hold me. Until you have spent a few million years under the gravity of the nucleus of a Star, until you have used your power to accelerate that star's death by a few million years, and until you have used what remained of your power to cause the rapid evolution of an entire species for the single purpose of freeing you, one day in the future.. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO QUESTION ONE SUCH AS ME!"

Once upon a time… His eyes narrowed at the evaporating deity and he spat his disapproval at the ground. The sonofabitch was Houdini. Darkness had claimed the sunlight and the dark shadows splashed across his face painting a picture annoyance. Chaos listened with disinterest, wanting only to end the conflict and move on, while Darkseid recounted his glory days many millennia past. For a moment, he could of swore he saw the massive man tremble like a child would before bawling. The moment was thrust into chaos as the failed god finished lamenting, a massive eruption of energy tearing the earth apart en route for the Cosmic Regent. “CUT THE CRAP!” His defiant command ripped through the expanding maelstrom leaving him untouched even as it continued to grow. His right hand shot up to shield his eyes from the blinding inferno but something strange happened- it didn’t simply dissipate like most attacks. No, this creature, while not a god, had such pinpoint control of its energy it was recalling it. The energy collapsed around him but would never touch his skin. Darkseid was undeniably skilled at Ki manipulation. Perhaps long ago he was even better. But Chaos was this universe’s ruler, and all things, even his opposition's energy could be bent to his whims. Darkseid had fallen far from god-hood. He would soon learn just how far. The energy gathered into a sphere around the Regent that shrunk as if successfully restraining the titan. He hoped that Darkseid believed his attack had worked, smirking to himself within the twisting sphere of energy. It swirled around him for several seconds, his aura and focus working to command the large amount of power. With a flash of finality the sphere erupted into a black inferno around his limbs, showing him to be undamaged by the ‘godly’ attacks. “What was that about doing things my mind couldn’t fathom? Is that your idea of a trap? You disgust me. Talk about the past all you like, live in your fairy tale universe but do it on your own damn time. From the sound of it you have plenty of time to waste. Once upon a time you may have been great and powerful, but now you are nothing. I have no more time for your sob story.” His words were twice as cold and sharp as the infernal blade that evaporated from his hand. If anything his annoyance was giving way to pity. What a sad creature. Time to put him down. Large powerful strides carried him towards his target and with a practiced push he was propelled up to eye level with the deity, both hands ablaze and slammed into a soft spot for most creatures, the temples on either side of the head. He touched the ground a millisecond later and his hand was already grasping the falling hilt of a golden scimitar. The whistle of metal sounded over the roar of fire surrounding his body, the blade tracing lengthy cuts down Darkseid’s chest and across his abdomen. The familiar cold fire bust from the tip of the blade on each stroke.

"You INSOLENT FFFF..." was as far as Darkseid got before having his clock cleaned by a series of attacks to his head. As he was forced back, his body burning from the heat being cast from the body of his foe, Darkseid felt a sharp pain lash itself across his chest. He was losing this fight... he had known that was a possibility, but hadn't expected his attacks to be nearly ineffective against this being. Defeat didn't bother him, he was immortal after all. But if he was taken down too soon, before he could figure out the secrets of this man's power, then it would be for naught. He would have shown himself too soon, to no avail. That could not happen! "You will tell me the source of your strength, mortal." Darkseid spoke quietly, chest heaving as he watched the nearly unrecognizable sight of his lifesblood oozing from the wounds that were scattered upon his perfect form. Darkness was all around- and in that darkness he should have felt at home. He had been the master of Darkness before he had been trapped within that star, and once it had burnt out he had acclimated back to it. But this darkness did not carry with it the warm and comforting security he would expect. There were... there were monsters in the darkness in this strange, new age. Darkseid closed his eyes for a moment, breathed deeply, letting his chest expand and contract for a few moments before gazing back out with those crimson orbs full of resentment and hatred. "You're MINE!" his arms shot forward upon the winds of his breath, crackling lightning lancing out from the tips of his fingers. That lightning moved across the space between the two fighters in a moment, attemtping to catch Chaos within it, to bind him up for a few moments. As the lightning faded, Darkseid turned his head towards the man and opened his mouth, spewing out a black mass that resolved itself into what appeared to be a sharpened shadow, its tip glinting upon the pale moonlight. As it sailed outward the god brought his left hand across to the right side of his body, and then flung it before him, all the way across his body- another shadow, this one a long, thin edged line that he hoped would catch chaos in the belly, hoped would sever him in twain. "You will be mine, weather today or some day in the future..." Darkseid spoke as he stared upon the results of his handiwork. "If I have to wait a hundred years until you are an aged, defenseless old man in his bed- I will have your soul. I will consume it, and become greater for it." Darkseid launched another wave of shadows from his body then, hoping they would finally succeed in trapping this man, in forcing him to subservience- perhaps it was a fruitless, doomed hope- but he needed more time... As the shadows, like tendrils that shot forward from his arms and legs tried to attach themselves to Chaos, Darkseid let energy build within him. He did not have the strength to use this technique to its fullest, but desperate times called for all the stops to be pulled. "OMEGA BEAM!" Darkseid roared then. For the past few moments his eyes had been getting redder and darker, had been growing with an even brighter intensity than before. Finally, it unleashed in a powerful beam of light that sundered the darkness as it approached Chaos. He had not moved once during his barrage of attacks. In all honesty, his fighting skills had waned greatly in the last few million years. Even before, though, he had never been one who liked to get his hands dirty. The fact he had no army to call upon, no legion of minions who would fight his battles for him was a serious set back in his plans. Once this fight was over, once his essence had reformed itself should he be vanquished, he would have to remedy that situation...

Puny god “Tell you the source of my power? Why bother? What you could possibly offer me for such knowledge?” He knuckles turned white, his weapon shot up, and the blade met the incoming lightning. The strings of electricity severed, the sound of its death a deafening crack. It seemed the deity was getting more frustrated, he needed to stay on his toes. One false step would mean certain doom. In the response to Darkseid’s increased ferocity Hell’s flames coalesced Chaos’ form pushing his speed to greater heights. A single eyebrow arched over his brow, across from him Darkseid seemed to be spitting out a shadow. He steadied his weapon but he could not maneuver fast enough to defend the mysterious black mass. “Ach!” Fire erupted in his brain and his left leg buckled. He didn’t risk glancing down at the warm trickle of blood, his weapon hand slammed down on the next shadowy attack shattering into countless shards of darkness that evaporated back into nothingness. Now he took a moment to feel where the attack had struck feeling it to be shallow and superficial--- hurt like hell though. More of the darkness around Darkseid began to morph and shot towards the Regent once more. “Enough tricks!” The commanding voice of a confident man signaled a burst of his ultraviolet aura the flailed about him madly to meet the oncoming shadows sending them back whence they came. His crimson eyes widened as Darkseid’s power suddenly erupted. Chaos growled, the false-god’s disrespect seemed to know no limits. The black fire around him condensed, his energy concentrated for the next pivotal movement. Darkseid’s voice boomed out and his muscles tensed like wrought steel cables and the dark wave burst towards him. He had already spotted his target out to the left and out of the beam’s way and then he was gone. Remnant’s of his Ki lingered in his wake leaving behind a false image that was engulfed several times over by the mighty attack. Chaos flashed each time a foot contacted the ground, his flight path perpendicular to the oncoming wave. The failed god’s blast continued for hundreds of kilometers, the faint whisper of it visible from within Earth’s orbit. Chaos skidded to a stop narrowly escaping the devastating attack. A fresh burst of hot pain screamed from his leg. He glanced down at the wound, it gushed blood now as his heart rate picked up significantly. The stress on his muscles didn’t help matters, but the wound still wouldn’t need immediate attention. He squeezed the wound and held it for several seconds stemming the blood flow only slightly. He growled through clenched teeth, his eyes focused on the deity who had tried to end him. He pushed the stabbing pain to the back of his mind and nearly forgot it completely. Over the years he had grown accustomed to pain as any good warrior would. The horrors he endured in captivity, while not the inside of a star, furthered his pain tolerance and the shallow gash would not hinder him any further. Long, confident strides (despite his injury, his gait was unhindered) carried him across the devastated landscape. He came to a stop in the deep trench of Darkseid's attack ten feet away from the failed god. "Why should I tell you a damn thing?" He took a shallow breath, masking his fatigue from the god like beast before him.

Also in OOC thread: The 100% blocked Body Shield action was NOT factored into the Freezing effect will apply in Darkseid's next turn (should've occurred in the previous turn). EDIT: 3 rolls (ignore the 4th roll) EDIT 2: Forget about the Freeze action. |

He was keeping his opponent on the defensive, but couldn't seem to break through the defenses of this son of a bitch. If there was one thing that Darkseid had learned in his centuries of galactic, and dimensional conquest was that everyone, without fail, had a weakness. A shatterpoint that would allow for their downfall. Everyone... Even himself. He had to push harder, had to sacrifice as much of himself as it took. He hadn't found out the secret to this mortals power... If he couldn't, then he would have to find someone else, and someone else... "You will tell me what I need to know." Darkseid bluffed, "Because when my power waxes across this universe, and darkness replaces the light- you will want to be within the good graces of your eternal lord and master." Darkseid smiled then, an aura of power rising around him. "But, I do not expect my thralls and slaves to be sheep. Mindless drones will be of no use to me. Tell me what I must know, and I can promise to leave you with your life, and place under your control untold billions of sentients with which to play." Darkseid had moved towards Chaos as he spoke, his body hovering over the ground a few inches, arms crossed over his chest. His voice dropped lower, and quieter as he approached- looking to see if the head of his foe dipped down, to see that he was at least considering it, straining to hear. The powerful usually wanted more power, and the promise of delivering it was a great temptation to many warlords and tyrants. "Join me, Chaos. Tell me the source of your power, and I will reveal to you untold wealths of power within this universe, and the next. I will lead you to greatness... Or spurn me, and when I have reached the apex of destiny, you shall be less than a worm beneath my... HRAA!" he shouted at the last, his hands reaching out from just a few meters away. The power that was surrounding him, within his aura, transferred along his arms, to his hands, and then shout out in an orb he hoped to catch the black haired man within. Darkseid did not negotiate, did not need some pathetic mortal. He would kill this fuck, but before he did he would rend from him the secrets he needed. Even before the attack finished closing around the man, another black shadow fired free of Darkseid's mouth, aimed for the neck of this impudent, overly powerful worm. He did not stop then, did not even pause to consider if he did too much damage he might out right kill this being. It didn't matter. He was too dangerous. Darkseid needed his power, but losing precious time and power reforming his essence from the ether would serve his needs and desires less than killing Chaos. So he attacked, yet again. Lightning traced out from his still outstretched hands, firing across the distance between them like slithering snakes of luminescent destruction. He had to end this fight, and soon. "HAAAA DIE!" Darkseid roared, grabbing a bolt of lightning as it tried to shoot away from him. He pulled back, behind his head, and then ducked low as he tossed it, midabdomen height, towards Chaos. Murder was the only solution, at times.

Boom A bribe? Chaos listened intently as the failed god trying to bargain for his life. He inclined his head and did consider that Darkseid could be serious. At one time he was a mighty god-- perhaps. But that was so long ago...and while Darkseid was locked away evolution continued on. To his credit he may have been considered godly a million years in the past. But now? Chaos stood before Darkseid, a few millennia of evolution better than the former deity. The new breed of god stood before Darkseid. An immortal he was not, but he stood alone at the pinnacle of the universe’s food chain, untouchable; a fact that made him this universe's lord. But for all the strange magic Darkseid had shown, Chaos’ intrigue was peaked if only for an instant. He traced the dancing flicker of Darkseid’s aura with narrowed eyes. Was this a display of strength or a threat? He tightened his grip on the scimitar. Surely he wasn’t supposed to be impressed with such a meager display, was he? He considered the dinosaur’s preposition with a laugh. Then, Darkseid's tone darkened, became threatening and--Damn! He had half-expected the attack and in truth it was better than the ‘god begging for Chaos’ help’ thing. The aura shot out fast and formed an orb in the air, fired at a distance too close for him to effectively dodge. At arm’s length his weapon began to emit a black light and as if it possessed some sentience, the blade would not allow its owner to be harmed and ravenously sucked the energy into the inky abyss. Another shadow shot out of Darkseid’s mouth like infernal, and sharp, spitting tobacco but this time he was ready for it. Well, more ready than last time. He was still too close to dodge the blur of darkness, his arm shot up, and the sharp point of shadow smashed painfully against his dense gauntlets. The force of the impact pushed him five yards back, more than enough room to dodge but Darkseid was still unleashing attacks fevereshly. Lightning cracked in the air surrounding Darkseid and the Regent braced himself, his Ki condensed in an instant to a bubble of protection. The snaking tendrils of electricity tried to constrict around the Ki barrier but couldn’t get through. He grinned at his attacker even as he tossed another lightning bolt at him ala-Zeus. His eyebrows arched up as the searing hot bolt collided with his shield causing it to flicker and wane. The impact sent a deafening crack across the flat land. He hadn’t expected it to pack so much force but even that was like a child swinging a plastic baseball bat at an adult behind his barrier. Laughter began to bubble up, this failed god’s antics had finally turned downright pitiful. The sword in his right hand turned into a mist of crimson and he pointed the now empty hand towards Darkseid. He could finally feel the lingering effects of the trickster’s magic fading, freeing him to move unimpaired again. That meant bad news for the poor grey god. He hovered off the ground and ascended a hundred feet over his target. He was beyond sharing words with the former god after his cowardly actions and he was prepared to cast his judgement. It didn’t really matter if Darkseid turned to run now, he would be left with no where to run too. If he thought the Kai’s were bad... In the next instant a blast of incredible power flew from his hand. The black body of the wave moved downward, wide enough to engulf Darkseid multiple times over as the indigo-lined energy moved over him in a fluid explosion. The world below erupted with blacklight, the entire ground ripped apart and tossed asunder in the form of giant boulders for a mile in every direction, a tower of fire climbed to the heavens and gale force winds buffeted him backwards hundreds of feet. Black embers danced along the torrents of pressure, he pushed his energy out to correct his free fall. He shielded his eyes against the heat and debris and his senses covered the area as he sought out any signs of life from below.

Darkseid was in trouble. His techniques were fantastic, his strategy was legit- his opponent was simply too fast and cowardly to actually take his attacks. There was nothing to be done... He had to keep attacking, keep pressing forward- had to find that shatterpoint. The alternative was to accept that defeat was imminent- and that he couldn't do. Never accept defeat. "DON'T YOU TRY IT!" Darkseid shouted as he felt the energy building within Chaos, saw him begin to ascend into the air. What came next... was going to suck. "NO!" Shouted the Lord of Apokolips, and he flew into the air, picking up speed as he went, wanting to catch up to Chaos before he launch... And then hell was descending upon Darkseid. "NEVER!" he shouted, thrusting his hands before him, a shining barrier of energy appearing in the instant before that beam of energy washed over his body, slamming him backwards, crushing him back to the ground, creating a massive barrier of glassed ground around him. The pain was intense, that... that had actually hurt. He groaned, pulled himself back to his feet. He reached for the ether then, reached for the strength that had once been his. It was locked to him... His full potential, it was... simply unavailable. Whatever those damned Kai's had done all those years ago, they had effectively sealed him off from his true power. If only he could get a taste of it, if only he could fill his lungs with it he might be able to turn this fight around. There was only the faintest sense of it, though, in the distance. It was enough to revitalize him a bit, but there was just too strong a wall for him to grasp it in its entirety. Damn... "Alright then," he said a moment later, resigned. He stood up, glared into the sky. "What ever may come." And then he was flying again, his eyes glowing brighter and brighter as he flew, his energy increasing more and more each second as he approached Chaos. As he tried to close the last few hundred feet, his energy reached critical... And a second later, a sonic boom shattered the relative silence of the night. An orb of powerful energy exploded all around, a great, massive rolling ball of light and power that he hoped would grind his nemesis into dust. He blinked away the stars in his eyes, looked around... There was Chaos... Reaching deep within his reserves, Darkseid summoned a single small bolt of energy within one hand, and then threw it with all his might at Chaos. It got larger, and larger as it approached- he hoped, beyond hope, to catch the fucker within this last, ditch attempt.

Fin Son. Of. A. Bitch. Darkseid erupted from the thick black smoke injured but still alive. He groaned, his senses had felt the power that teamed from the former god and knew something big was coming. The next instant and the attack broke the sound barrier. It happened so fast, one would be hard-pressed to say whether Chaos had summoned the shimmering crimson ripple in front of him or if it had manifested on its own to protect him. As the condensed wall of Ki and air rumbled towards him the crimson portal ravenously swallowed as much as it could, leaving a small portion behind it untouched by the attack, roughly the same size as Chaos. His eyes turned sharp and he peered through the expanding light, through his own protective portal, and saw Darkseid still had more up his sleeve. A black hilted sword poked from the back of the portal, the front of which satiated with Darkseid’s energy filling it, and flew into the Regent’s waiting hand. The portal evaporated, Chaos stood alone with the double-edged weapon at arms length in front of him just where he had caught it. Running out of tricks? The ball of Ki Darkseid shot out grew large enough to engulf Chaos whole but would never get that close. Letting Chaos see his techniques twice was a fatal mistake. The blade let out a high pitched hiss as it drank the energy from Darkseid’s entrapment sphere. It took five seconds, but the attack was rendered useless once again, the energy from it refilled Chaos’ own parched Ki reserves. The last wisp of the attack sucked into the blade, the blade itself then turned into the familiar crimson mist as it returned to his treasury. Chaos regarded the failed god in front of him with a stern look of disappointment. Darkseid’s head was so bulbous, swelled from these make-believe thoughts of grandeur. This was truly a pitiful creature. Darkseid thought Chaos’ power was awesome, more so then his own (a ‘god’) and yet still continued to fight. If he were a god, Chaos was beyond him, an even higher transcendental being. “Why do you persist? You’re fighting a losing battle, you know it. You’ve lived far too long to not understand what impending defeat feels like. To make matters worse, I haven’t even released the full extent of my power. If I had so desired, I could have vaporized you where you are,” he mocked, his own ego inflated. “What you’ve fought me at isn’t even half of what I am capable of. Now, I’ll conclude my lesson on evolution and Darwinism as I’ve grown quite tired of your history lessons.” His right hand filled the space between them, along with five high pitched tones. At the end of each fingertip (and thumb) a small sphere of black energy appeared. He smiled and then he was gone. Reality shuddered about him but in the same instant he had vanished he had materialized twenty feet higher than Darkseid with hundreds of the tiny spheres pouring from his outstretched fingers. Before Darkseid could realize Chaos wasn’t standing in front of him he’d already have a few dozen blasts raining down on him. Each of the small orbs packed a bone shattering punch, any individual could easily level an entire city block. And Darkseid was standing below hundreds. The blitzkrieg of Ki stopped, his shoulders slumped with the faintest signs of exhaustion but he was not finished. No, clearly this fool needed to learn his lesson the hardest way possible. Sure, he could have destroyed the wannabe-deity in a few moments, but the longer his pain continued the more certain Darkseid would become of his own mortality; Chaos was simply re-teaching a lesson the universe had taught him. He flew. And flew. And flew. He climbed into the scattered clouds that dotted the inky night sky not really concerned with Darkseid’s current condition (though he could still feel his energy). His head tilted down to see the faint dot of his opponent and he took aim with both hand. His fingers splayed almost identical to his flash bomb but as the immense energy flowed from within him and gathered at his hands it was clear this was not the same attack. This was much, much worse. Inches in front of his outstretched digits, a single ball of energy crackled to life. The unstable sphere flickered in and out of existence; the shriek of energy being gathered permeated the air. An eerie glow was cast over his face which illuminated the uncaring stare of judgment trained on Darkseid. Indigo sparks danced along his arms and rushed over the black orb; he wondered, would Darkseid scream? His laugh echoed over the Diablo Desert and the energy was cast towards his opponent. He intended to strike the warrior head on, but even if he missed the damage dealt would be insurmountable. A blinding flash of white signified the violent detonation when the orb struck something. Darkseid had mentioned being trapped inside of a star, and ironically he was about to be subjected to similar conditions. The hypocenter of the blast burned white with heat surpassing 5,000 degrees celsius not unlike Earth’s star that had retired for the day. A fraction of a second saw the creation of a deadly shockwave. Light filled the desert as if it were high noon and not the end of dusk. The heat and pressure evaporated the water in the air, vaporized rock, and carved a massive crater into the desert floor. Several seconds passed before much could be made out, but the light started to fade. Now he could see the boiling mushroom cloud of his attack rising majestically into the sky. At the base, the column glowed bright orange until it lifted and disappeared into the rolling mushroom head. The canopy of the cloud glowed a disturbing shade of purple. He climbed higher into the sky to get a better look at the devastation that filled the battlefield. The vast cloud stretched a mile high, easily visible from space and for hundreds of miles along the earth. Citizens across the globe in surrounding cities turned their attention to the flash when it had happened and most looked at the growing cloud in the distance with their mouths agape. The heat from it, as if the sun suddenly appeared on Earth, ruptured the skin of onlookers for miles around. From up here, being able to see the entirety of his attack, the size of the cloud made the desert look like a very small place, even though it was the largest on the planet. A second later and the shockwave hit him. His hand covered his face from the debris kicked up, most of which had turned to vapor and began to reform as it cooled in the crest of the cloud. The water molecules cooled in the upper portion of the atmosphere as well, mixed with god knows what other molecules, creating a downpour over the scorched earth in the form of black rain. The thunderous roar of the explosion is heard across the globe as the sound wave ripped around the world. The deafening sound echoes for almost a minute before gradually fading. Finally the dust began to settle thanks in part to the rain it had created. Sweat began to form on his brow and dripped from his nose. The cloud still filled the horizon for hundreds of miles but stopped growing. A gentle wind, like Earth were liking her wounds, began to push the upper parts to one side. Gradually, it began to dissipate. Now it was hard to tell if the desert even existed, rocky formations turned to flatland, flatland turned to green glass. And somewhere, amongst all the chaos, Darkseid was surely enduring hell. He looked through half-open eye lids to see the failed god's fate.

....I'm not going to lie, based on RP quality alone I can't really come to a good decision about which one of you should get the award... I'm going to have to give it to Chaos this time because of the enduring continuity of his character. Darkseid just seemed to abruptly shift in personality for me too much for my liking. *Mortal Kombat voice* "FIGHT!" |

... And then Chaos was simply gone. "What..." The god asked, his brow furrowing in curious apprehension as he tried to... "GAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" His sudden roar of distressed pain snapped across the night, drowned out by the sudden sound of explosions ripping across the barren desert night. He was on one knee before he knew what was even going on, throwing his fists into the air, throwing all of his deific power with them. He slammed a fist into one of the many, many orbs that was coming for him. His arms blurred, faster, as he tried to defend himself, tried to thrust away or negate the blasts before they struck him. It was no good. He was nowhere near fast enough, and they were moving like a sheet of rain, coming down slow enough so that his rapid, faster-than-light mind could visually see and process the death that was coming, and at least put up a sort of defense, but far, far too fast for him to even hope to stop enough so that he wouldn't be fatally injured. His voice was screaming, he realized then. It was a low, thrumming scream that he hadn't recognized at first. It was the same, dull, horror filled intonation that had caused his own ears to bleed for untold millinea while he had suffered under the expanse of a star's corona. The same, reality-bending scream of pain and long-suffering expulsion that had helped to speed along the death of one of the univers's shining lights. It wasn't enough... His hands moved, his throat rasped and throbbed, but still the blasts came down- nowhere near as many as if he had made no defense altogether, but far, far too many for him to ignore as he had the previous attacks against him. He was truly beginning to accept and realize the fact that he might be losing this fight, might not be able to use his tactics and power to overcome any simple, meer mortal. And then Chaos was gone, so was the monotonous sound of Darkseids own voice, and the crashing, burning heat of the explosions all around him. His eyes fixated on... "My hands..." Darkseid rasped, throat sore from his attempt to negate the previous atack through sheer force of will. The sight before him was gruesome, and unbelievable. His hands... "No more..." Darkseid thought aloud, trying to unclench the half melted, fused digits that extended from his wrists. He could not even feel them, not the individual fingers- not as anything more than a cruel, burning pain that traveled along his arms and into his brain. Blood coated his arms to his forearms, and splattered all across what he could see of his own biceps and chest. Ivory extended a quarter inch out of the knuckles upon each finger. That... that bastard, had destroyed the Lord of Apokolips' hands. Perhaps the most distressing part of the entire situation, was the realization that it was not over, that he could not end it. There he was, Chaos, up there in the sky far, far above Darkseid was charging an even more powerful attack, was preparing to unleash something even more devastating upon him. Overkill was a phrase that Darkseid was more than familiar with, but had never actually expected to apply TOWARDS him. "No..." Darkseid thought, aloud. "He's going to destroy half this planet with that attack." Darkseid had plans for this planet. This planet would belong to him... someday, when he found the power he would so desperately need to overcome some of the more insanely powerful fighters the universe had spewed from its hateful, bile filled womb. It would require so much of his precious power to protect the world from what was about to come, from what was coming for Chaos, but would take untold millions with it should it be allowed to propagate its destruction across the globe. And, even if he succeeded, there would be no guarantee that CHaos simply wouldn't destroy it again, for the sheer bother that Darkseid had become, to ensure his enemies were truly gone. Darkseid would have done the same thing, if he truly feared someone's potential power. Darkseid has never thought it would be up to him to actually save a world... But never the less, he gasped in pain that roiled along his nervous system as he forced himself back to his feet. He concentrated his power, and then, even though it hurt him so bad he screamed in a register higher than his typical basso profundo, he spread his arms wide. Power gathered at the tips of his curled, mangled hands, and was then gone. Darkseid gasped and was again forced to one knee, breathing out, gasping. He looked into the distance, and could see... Yes, it had worked. A single, blue barrier surrounded the desert they fought within. He had created the containment for the attack, ensuring the salvation of this world. This world that would one day be darkseids, and would pay every day for the simple fact that he had been forced to deal with a man named Chaos upon its surface. The world was safe, at least. Next... Darkseid had to save himself. That, was a simple process of being OUTSIDE wherever the hell that blast was going to explode. Being outside the barrier. "I will find you again, Chaos." Darkseid whispered... And his body became vaporous just moments before a 2nd sun arose upon Earth, in the middle of the night. He reappeared outside of the Barrier he had created, got jerkily back to his feet, and began to stroll away. "And I will kill you." He decided- fully expecting the barrier to have served 2 duel purposes. One, to contain the blast, and 2- to contain Chaos long enough for Darkseid to effect his escape. plan. Already, he was feeling better as he strolled away, a smirk beginning to tug at the corners of his mouth. "I will kill you." he whispered in a dark, low tone to himself.

Okay, Chaos sent me a PM asking about how this whole defence mess is going to go down. I'm going to break it down into sections: 1. The actual usage of the SFG itself was legal, owing to that ruling from a while back that said you could use a SFG during defence in response to a charged attack (the EEB in this case). 2. Admin Rulings themselves state that:
For simplicity's sake, I'm logically going to believe that these three methods cannot be used in conjunction with one another for obvious reasons (and I don't believe I'm wrong on this). In which case Rem's attempt of leaving the SFG AND dodging the EEB is illegal. Conclusion: 1. I conclude that you're both IN the SFG (RP and actions, I'm ignoring the potential size of said SFG based on Chaos' location relative to Darkseid, work with it >.>) 2. Because you're BOTH in the SFG, Darkseid can't use IT to both exit the SFG and evade the EEB. 3. As the said action is technically illegal and not just poorly written or anything, Darkseid has 24 hours to rewrite what he's going to be doing with that action. If the IT is used to dodge however, Darkseid will remain inside the SFG with Chaos. 4 (afterthought): I was going to say this wasn't going to count as Chaos' ruling since it's an illegal action, but since everyone keeps warning me I'm going to receive shit for this, I'm going to have to compromise by making it Chaos' one ruling. |

I don't even know why I'm even posting this with a belief that I'm going to have this ruling obeyed since Darkseid will probably get a new ruling from Alex... So for some reason Darkseid's IT to dodge AND leave SFG was successful. I'm ruling that Chaos was/is NOT inside the SFG for the simple fact that you were aiming to contain the blast, which Chaos had already placed himself out of range of. Good luck trying to flee, son. |

Judgement Dark eyes scanned the expanding blue energy field above him. He could feel Darkseid’s energy growing distant, but it was still impossible to miss in the lifeless desert. His eyes shut and a frown carved into his visage. It had really come to such games? He let gravity do its thing and then proceeded to the edge of the stasis field where Darkseid had left. His hand caressed the smooth barrier causing it to flicker at his touch. All things were just so-- delicate. An eruption of black fire brought the frenzied sound of tortured souls that shrieked at being tore from Hell to aid Chaos again. This bastard thought of himself as some sort of strategist no doubt. Hell, he thought himself a god! It nearly made him loose control with laughter, if it had not pissed him off so much. The black flame gave melded into his own growing aura. Fissures began to spider from beneath his feet, the black energy then erupted to a massive size around him. A shrill cry permeated the air as his aura suddenly turned violent, the maelstrom of raw power slapping and tearing at his entrapment. And then, just like crystal, the entire field erupted into shards with a large section completely evaporated directly in front of him where his aura had directly touched. His energy flared out madly tossing the broken barrier's remains in all directions. And then, he was gone, just a blur of his image left where he had stood. The Regent's speed carried him to Darkseid in a fraction of a second. As he was upon his target, he shoved both hands forward and freed twin waves of icy Ki to keep the coward in place. His image blurred again as his speed skyrocketed once more. He touched down in front of Darkseid, his aura twisting around thirsty for the god's blood. He whipped his arms out to catch the deity around the torso and with an extra burst of effort, he attempted to crush the fool in a mighty bear hug. Darkseid towered over Chaos physically, but the difference between their true power was even greater. It would take an insane amount of foresight, speed, and luck to even know what was going on; that his aura had taken on a sort of sentience and was now ripping and rending everything, shredding anything deemed unworthy down to a molecular level leaving nothing but quantum dust. "Don't you get it? If you are a god how can you fall under a mortal's judgement?"

"WHAT?" Darkseid roared as he half turned, seeing a brilliant, uncomprehensively strong source of power behind him. Even as his mind railed against the possibility of what he was seeing, his eyes were widening at the sight of the Barrier he had placed around Chaos suddenly exploding outwards. Fragments of quickly dissipating ki Energy flowed through the air like glass shards. Throwing himself forward and into flight from those dangerous, transient bits of his own energy probably saved his life. Darkseid looked over his shoulder, trying to gauge how much space he had to maneuver away from the blasts. That was the moment he saw death personified, coming for him- full of rage and determination. "Shit..." Darkseid thought aloud, shifting across the sand as fast as he could, he could feel that power coming for him, could hear it ripping apart the sand as it got closer and closer by the millisecond. He could feel goosebumps along his back, and knew that if he paused for a second that he would die. He couldn't help it, he had to turn again. AS he did so he saw two blasts of energy coming for him. The chilling whisper of death intensified as those blasts closed on him, and Darkseid knew without a doubt that if either of them struck him, he would be done for. He hated how undignified he must look, running full speed across the desert, hands and arms almost useless at his sides. This... this was not how things were supposed to go. This was not how the Lord of Apokolips was treated. THIS WAS NOT FAIR! Darkseid flung himself around in a circle. He lashed out with his ruined hands, still capable of using the muscles in his forearm and shoulder to bash the ruined mounds against the first, of the Ice Blasts. He positioned himself in front of the second one and opened his mouth, swalling it down with a sizzle as its tundratic temperature struck the core of a god, and flash incinerated. He felt the power of that blast flow into his body, giving him just a bit more energy than he had a moment before. He would use it to good effect. His eyes could see the desert being ripped to shreds, innumerable sand particulates flew through the air, threatening to blind him, or at least obscure his sight to the point that he wouldn't be able to see this monstrous mortal mother fucker coming at him. "THIS WILL NOT STAND!" Darkseid roared, continue his flight, continuing to move away from Chaos, truly fearing that swirling vortex of power around him. He unleashed a blast of his OWN frozen power at Chaos, just as the man started a full on charge towards him. He hoped to freeze the bastard for a moment, to hold HIM in place while Darkseid did what he could to turn the tide, finally... Such hope was beginning to wane, however. With neither his skill, nor his knowledge of battling saving him, and with neither flight nor fight working... Things were looking bad. "Die..." Please, he did not add to his whisper as he lashed his arm through the air once more, sending a cutting blade of energy across the obscuring sand towards where the potentially frozen mortal man would be standing. Chaos continued moving away, aware for another offensive charge upon him.
