When are we eating?
"Ten thousand years as a demon and I've never been able to reduce my power level. It took me seventeen hundred years of intense training to keep it below its absolute maximum at all times, and even that reduction is limited when I'm in battle." Starrk muttered, centering himself as he centered his ki, reducing his aura completely and suppressing his power level down to a bare minimum of what it could fully accomplish. Anyone who could sense his ki, or pick it up with an artificial device, would be granted with only what he was exerting rather than what he was fully capable of. "A few weeks of being a watered down Kai and I can do it no sweat. People wonder why demons are better shock troopers." He flashed his ki back to its resting state, then reduced it again in an instant, repeating the process and creating a sort of beacon with his power level.

"Well it helps to have the training of ol' Roshi, I bet." Master Roshi commented. "Hardly any demons have that going for 'em. And quit doin' that, you're giving me a headache!" Master Roshi had several students under him at any given moment, and so it was fairly rare that each of them got much one on one time with him. Thankfully Roshi still held a soft spot for Starrk, for reasons beyond the former demon's understanding. As a result the old kook would spend an extra few minutes with him whenever he could, mostly berating him, but the time itself meant something. Starrk just wasn't sure what. "Anyway," The elder human said, "Now that you've finally got this ability mastered, I want to see you use it."

"I'm using it right now." Starrk replied.

"It's different when you're using it in an actual fight. I want you to be able to keep your power level suppressed while you fight one of my newer students. Show him a thing or two about real battle, sure, but don't get too serious with it. If you've shown me you can do that, then your training on this subject will be complete."

"Are you going to watch the fight?"

"I don't need to. I'll know." A glint of sunlight flashed across the old man's sunglasses, giving him a particularly wise countenance. "This student goes by Areleh. A brand new one of mine, but he's already picked up a few techniques at an extraordinary rate. He's currently training by himself on an island about ten kilometers southwest of here. Go meet with him."

Starrk nodded. Master Roshi was far from powerful in the physical sense, but his wide variety of ki techniques, as well as his magnificent ability to sense energy even at great distances was something that made him truly great. It was one of the reasons why Starrk had spent so long training with the old man. It wasn't easy to earn Starrk's respect, but this retired defender of Earth had surely done it.

The former demon took off with tremendous speed towards the indicated island, finally picking up a relatively low power level exactly where Roshi said it was going to be. The angelic being had no idea whether or not Roshi had informed the warrior of a possible confrontation, but in all honesty he didn't really care. He landed softly in front of the other warrior, dropping in from out of the sky and touching ground very lightly about six feet away. His hands were in his pockets and he was facing his opponent at a three-quarter angle, giving him an advantage in terms of dodging, but making it much more difficult to block. However, Starrk's style was about movement rather than acting as a barricade, and so he kept himself available for movement.

Giving the other warrior just a fraction of a second to register his arrival, Starrk said, "My name's Starrk. We're going to fight now."

And then he attacked.

Even with his power level suppressed to a bare minimum, Starrk's speed was outrageous. Blinking would cause the average person to miss the time between kicking off with his right leg and landing within melee distance of his opponent. He started his onslaught of physical attacks with a ruthless side kick aimed straight for the younger warrior's chest then, using the first kick's momentum to keep him going, brought his other leg up for a spinning kick to the face. As the Celestial warrior came back towards the ground, spun once so that he'd be landing facing the proper direction. The result, of course, was that barring a few moments of intense action, it seemed as though he hadn't moved at all.

Following a quick spurt of physical attacks, the warrior inhaled softly then opened his mouth and fired a burst of powerful light blue ki from his gaping maw, aiming it straight at the opposing fighter's right knee. He'd given himself a pretty small target, but if he hit something that vital this quickly, his opponent's fighting style would likely be crippled for the remainder of their match. Shuffling backwards a half-step rather rapidly, he waited for his foe's inevitable retaliatory attack to commence. He just hoped that this warrior would show him something good.

Free. Suppress to 5% PL [Some actions are free actions. If you choose to take an attack rather than defending it, that's free. However, doing most significant things takes an action.]
1. Equip Saiyan Armor w/o Shoulders of Combat [Armor reduces damage taken, this particular armor doesn't do that very well. Also just because you have the item equipped doesn't mean you're wearing it. My character would never be caught dead actually wearing this, but still technically receives the bonus from it. Game mechanics!]
2. Drop Weights [Weights reduce all stats by 25 for each you have equipped. You can drop them all in one action. You'll note that neither of these were roleplayed above. Generally speaking anything you do is RP'd, but because it's awkward to get dressed or undressed in a fight, it's usually acceptable to not RP things like this. Most other actions, however, must be.]
3. 2x Special Attacks [Special attacks hit harder and are generally one per action, but since my speed is more than twice yours, I hit faster and can therefore do two]
4. Mastered Mouth Blast -3% [I'm really only doing this so I can show you how ki drain works.]
5. Lost [The first person posting in a battle loses one of their actions for the first round only]
[Normally in your first turn, if you know a stance, you'd use it. My only stance increases my actions and I don't need that, so I won't. But learning a stance is a good idea.]

Battle Stats--> Current [Battle bonuses are factored in here as well as anything else. Since I'm using my Ki Suppression special ability, my PL is much lower than it normally would be. Though my stats remain the same, if I were to fire a particularly strong technique, it'd end up fairly weak.]
PL: 9,995/199,902 --> 9,995/199,858 [Normally my current PL as well as my max would drop after an attack, but since I'm keeping it at a constant with Ki Suppression, it doesn't. If you used a ki tech though, it would.]

Sta: 24,662 ---> (-22) 24,640 [Alright so my current ki is 4997, and I've just done an attack that uses 3% ki. So I multiply current ki by .03, giving me 149. Rounding is whatever. Because I have Ki Mastery 3, I then take that number and multiply it by .15 and reduce my stam by the resulting number. I then re-add my stats to get my new PL, but note that my ki doesn't reduce at all, not even my max ki.]

On a remote island near Master Roshi, Areleh stood with his hands cupped to his side. His features were scrunched in concentration as he did his best to focus his energy like Master Roshi had taught him. He had already begun learning new techniques, but this was more than just throwing a bunch of energy blasts. This required skill. "Ka... Me... Ha... Me... HA!" Throwing his hands forward while attempting to project his energy like Master Roshi had taught him, Areleh expected a beam of bright blue energy.

What he got was a whole lot of nothing.

"Damn it!" He threw his hands in the air, screaming in frustration. This had been his fifth attempt and still he failed to get anything. Not even a pathetic flash of light or tiny beam of energy. Nothing. There was no doubt in Areleh's mind that the problem lay squarely on his shoulders. Master Roshi was a great teacher (if a little eccentric). Hell, he made the Kamehameha technique. He tried to remind himself that it took Master Roshi decades to develop the technique. He couldn't expect to pick it up in a few days.

As he turned to dig into his gear some and get a bottle of water, he saw a man standing there. Areleh blinked in surprise. He hadn't felt the guy coming, and certainly hadn't been expecting him. How this man had found him, Areleh wasn't at all sure. But something about him struck Areleh the wrong way. It was this deep-seated bundle of nerves that told him that something was off with this guy.

"My name's Starrk. We're going to fight now." As far as introductions went, that was pretty straight forward. Areleh didn't even have time to open his mouth in response before the man was on top of him. Areleh's eyes went wide in shock. 'So fast...' There was no time to prepare a defense. He caught the savage kick full in the side. Every part of his body shook and his heart seemed to skip a beat as the air was forcefully expelled from his lungs.

It was hardly a surprise then when he was caught unawares by the vicious kick to the side of his head that sent his world spinning; quite literally as the case was. Areleh found himself tumbling and spinning through the air. Instincts finally kicked in and he managed to right himself in time to skid across the ground on his hands and feet.

-Action 1: Dodge-
Blood kissed the ground before Areleh stood up and did his best to force the pain to the back of his mind. He could taste the blood as it rolled out the right corner of his mouth and down his chin. As Starrk opened his mouth, Areleh was ready for the attack and jumped to the side, avoiding the attack as it shot past him and blew apart a small section of the ground just behind him.

-Action 2: Drop Gear-
His eyes narrowed as he looked at this mysterious man. "You know where I come from, we generally give people a chance to ready themselves before we start throwing punches." He grabbed the edge of the weighted gloves and quickly discarded them along with his boots. He wiped the trailing blood with the back of one hand and spit a mouthful of it to the side before continuing.

-Action 3: Bukujutsu + Energy Dan-
"But if that's the way you want it." He jumped into the air and used his ki to carry himself higher. Extending his arms out in front of him, Areleh quickly gathered his energy and launched a rapid series of energy blasts. Each one was launched at slight different angles, all aimed at hitting Starrk from all sides. One of them arced high, coming down at him from above while two flew straight at him. Not to be outdone, two swung wide and came in high and low from his right while the sixth was aimed for his left.

However, the goal of this attack wasn't straight forward. As soon as he fired all six blasts, Areleh shot wide and flew around the side, aiming to take a position to attack Starrk from behind. It was all a ploy to get a shot off at Starrk's back. If he was gonna start the fight off dirty, Areleh had no problems attacking from behind.

Thankfully this warrior had at least enough common sense to dodge a straight forward burst that would cripple him, though it seemed as if Starrk's twin kicks had knocked the fighter for a loop. It was to Starrk's pleasure and surprise that the warrior came out swinging, rising into the air and firing off burst after burst of powerful, angry spheres of ki.

Roshi had mentioned that this fighter-- and Starrk had already forgotten his name-- had just learned these techniques, but his usage was already quite advanced, arcing the blasts outward rather than moving his physical form. It made the attacks a little more difficult to kick off, certainly, but it also made them harder to block or evade, since they were coming from various directions. Still, Starrk had been around quite a while and an attack like this wasn't too different from taking multiple attacks at the same time from various opponents. He removed his hands from his pockets and reached for his blade with increased speed.

The weapon, while sheathed, looked like a katana. However, once it left its resting place, it became a rather large one-handed sword that Starrk held expertly in one hand. It glowed a strange blackish-purple, as though there were an awful dark energy contained within. Moving with expert precision, the Celestial being brought his blade up above his head, turning the weapon horizontal. Just as the blade blocked the first sphere of ki, he brought it down to block the second two, the second barely being caught as he'd already twisted his upper body and turned his blade vertical to block the fourth and fifth attacks, placing his hand behind the flat of the blade to act as security against the strikes. He turned quickly to stop the final one but moved his blade a fraction of a moment too slowly, and found himself struck in the chin by the last attack. His head jerked back and there was a small burn mark against his pointed chin. He didn't move otherwise, but simply said, "Interesting."

Even as he righted himself, he flicked his blade ever so lightly. The purple-black that threatened to bleed from the blade was finally allowed, covering the weapon and becoming a purifying white flame. His aura mirrored the process, releasing itself just a little bit more. He knew that Roshi was paying attention, and knew that he was supposed to keep himself suppressed throughout the fight, but had an urge now to see how much this fighter could take. As the warrior landed, Starrk was able to sense his location and blurred his own speed. The Celestial warrior disappeared from mortal sight, reappearing right in front of Areleh. "Getting behind me is smart."

He brandished his weapon purposely obviously, the fiery trail leaving a marker that made the weapon a little too obvious to track. This was likely to make it easier for the warrior to dodge or evade the strikes. Starrk brought his blade back and went in for a straight forward strike that would pierce the fighter through the shoulder if he wasn't careful.

Slowing down his speed back to its normal pace, he went in for a diagonal slash across the chest, from shoulder to hip, nothing more than a skin deep strike that would spill blood if it connected. Rather than let the strike end there, he turned the weapon on its end and aimed to smash the warrior's gut with the pommel of his blade. Moving fluidly from that strike, he re-sheathed his weapon and waited for whatever retaliatory strikes this warrior could offer. He would have been extremely surprised and, for Starrk, rather pleased if the warrior could continue to go. He needed to test this fighter's ability for sure, but now he was testing for something more.

Areleh panted quietly and swallowed, tasting the coppery blood still in his mouth. It still took a fair bit out of him to use that attack. Master Roshi had praised him for his quick learning of it, but his body still had yet to adapt to that kind of ki drain. He could only hope that his attack had had some kind of measurable impact on his opponent.

Of course his hopes were dashed once the smoke cleared and Starrk turned to face him. The man's face was completely unreadable. And what was worse, he had been almost completely unaffected by his attack. 'Shit...' Areleh thought to himself, forcing his breathing to return to normal. Something wasn't right about this guy. Areleh could sense his energy, and while he was easily stronger than the half-Saiyan, he should have been more damaged from that attack.

The mystery deepened when Starrk's sword caught fire and his own aura seemed to strengthen from it. A deep sense of dread hit Areleh as he felt the other man's power level grow. Before he was roughly twice Areleh's power. Now he was more than four times as strong and had increased his power level effortlessly. A nervous twitch threatened to run from his hand all the way up his arm, but he violently crushed it. He quickly considered what he knew.

It took a lot of effort on his part to raise his power level to its maximum, and this guy didn't even break a sweat. Starrk hadn't been affected by his strongest attack. Briefly his mind flashed back to when Master Roshi was demonstrating the Kamehameha Wave. His power level had shot up dramatically while using the technique. Everything pointed to one undeniable conclusion.

Starrk was toying with him.

Seeing the man suddenly disappear was a surprise, but not nearly as shocking as seeing Starrk appear in front of him. He watched as that fiery blade was flourished before Starrk lunged at him. Dropping to one knee, Areleh rolled to the right and quickly got back on his feet, just in time to see Starrk raise his blade for a powerful cut. Having only just recovered from one dodge, his stance wasn't proper for another dodge roll.

He only had time to take a step back with his right foot before Starrk's blade caught him from his left shoulder and ran across his torso. His shirt offered absolutely no resistance to the fiery blade, which sent a fresh wave of pain through his body. One hand immediately came up and clutched at his chest, leaving him wide open for the follow-up pommel strike, the force of which managed to send him sliding backwards several feet.

More blood spattered across the ground as Areleh grimaced in pain. He could feel the blood slowly seeping between his fingers. Shakily, he rose to his feet and took a shaky breath after that pommel strike. This had to be some kind of test. He had nothing of value, knew nothing of value, and was clearly not a match for Starrk. The only question left then was what was this test about?

Areleh didn't care as he steadied himself and drew on his ki again. His hands glowed that same of green as before. He wasn't about to give up, even if he was outmatched. Yelling as much in pain as effort, he wound up for another energy volley. Five blasts of energy streaked towards Starrk, again coming in at different angles. The sixth, however, impacted the ground between the two fighters, throwing up dust and obscuring the space between them.

He thought about which direction he could take off in an attempt to get a solid, surprise hit in, but decided against it. He favored his right so he couldn't go that way, and he had already gone up before. Left was the next, best place to go. So Areleh raised his hand and extended two fingers, gathering his ki at the tip. Then he fired the attack straight through the smoke, aiming straight at where he saw Starrk's head in his memory.

The kid was good.

Starrk had doubled his power level as a not so subtle attempt to discourage the kid, but the young warrior was still coming at him. Six more spheres of green energy came soaring from the fighter's open hands. Starrk's hand flew to his blade again. Unsheathing the weapon, he stuck it in front of him and began to spin it rapidly, creating a whirlwind that forcefully dragged the wayward bursts of energy into it, almost like a black hole. As the energy was sucked in, it ignited the blade, recovering the energy that was expended in igniting the blade anew with seemingly dark energies. As the last blast seemingly missed, smashing into the ground, Starrk sheathed his weapon again and waited for whatever was coming next.

The ground before him exploded, clouding his view. As an immediate reaction Starrk shut his eyes, focusing on picking up the ki signature of whatever was coming at him. The burst of ki came quickly from Starrk's right. His opponent must have been coming from the left as a result of their previous scuffle. Rather than allow himself to get hit by it, the Celestial warrior reacted quickly, extending his own hand with two fingers pointed outwards in an unknowing mirror of his foe's technique. He fired off his own blast, his light blue energy merging with his foe's green ki and causing an explosion of merged energies that spread from the eruption site. The attempt was enough. Starrk had seen what he needed to see, and now he had some work to do.

Reducing a fraction of his attention to the battle at hand, Coyote Starrk extended the majority of his own ki into the astral realm in order to have a discussion with someone he knew could handle these sorts of things. Even as he did, he was able to keep enough of his focus on the fight, doubling his energy output for one more brilliant display of power. He'd tested this fighter's mettle, now he had to give him a glimpse of true strength.

The Celestial brought both of his own hands together as though he were performing a prayer. His hands began to glow with energy, and he spread them apart, creating a triangle in the middle. "Get a taste." He took a deep inhalation of breath and fired off a massive triangle shaped beam of golden ki straight at his foe, draining his very life force to do so. It'd be worth it to show this young warrior what true power was.

"No..." Areleh panted in defeat as he watched his attacks blocked and nullified. There seemed to be no affecting this guy. And what was worse, while he could feel his own power slipping, Starrk seemed not the least bit winded. His power seemed endless. He had to be holding back. To so effortlessly handle Areleh's attacks with no visible sign of stress or effort could only mean he was holding back. Briefly, Areleh flashed back to when Master Roshi demonstrated the Kamehameha Wave and how he had felt the old man's power surge as he used the attack.

Just when it appeared as though things couldn't get any worse, Starrk let more of his power slip out. Fear and doubt crept over Areleh's features as he soaked in the undoubted truth; Starrk was going to win and there was nothing he could do about it. The only question now was how he was going to survive whatever attack Starrk threw at him.

An insane plan, born of desperation, came to mind while Starrk appeared to be charging an attack. Quickly bringing his hands out, Areleh fired six blasts from the palms of his hands. However, they held themselves stationary around his form as he panted from exertion. He was really stretching himself to his limits with this move but it was the only way he could think of to survive the coming attack.

When Starrk fired his attacks, Areleh steeled himself and watched as the beam shot straight at him. The speed of it was incredible. He barely had time to register the attack before he brought his arms down and in, one on top of the other, bringing the six orbs crashing together in an explosion just before Starrk's attack could hit. As the blast of his own attack hit him, Areleh shifted his arms ever so slightly and formed a crossing block.

Then all he saw was white.

RP Award goes to Starrk. It was a close call; I like the way Areleh roleplays his character but the descriptions of Starrk's gave him the edge. But impressive work on both sides.

A damage report was asked for as well.

Based on the roleplays from both so far, This is what I've got:

Starrk: 98% health left.
Areleh: 71% health left

The smoke cleared to found the opposing warrior still standing.

Starrk couldn't help but let himself show a fraction of a smirk. This kid definitely had the right material. He dropped his stance as the warrior realized he still had his life. There was one more thing he had to do, in order to set things right. He unsheathed his weapon and pointed it straight at the warrior. Roshi had said his name before… Areleh. That's what it was. A name Starrk would, at least for the moment, commit to memory.

With the fight pretty much over, as Starrk had proved that there was very little that the warrior could throw that he couldn't fight off or reverse, all he could do was show this warrior how completely outmatched he was. It wasn't his intention to show him that this fight had been hopeless, but to show him how skilled he'd been in causing the damage that he'd done. His aura exploded, reaching its absolute zenith.

The eruption of powerful ki caused his weapon to fill with completely purified light. And with that, Starrk charged straight at the warrior with such speed that he left a blue-grey afterimage of himself in his wake. His blade was filled with a purifying energy and as it impacted with his opponent, it didn't kill him. Instead, it healed a good portion of his wounds and brought him back to nearly full physical health.

"This fight's over. You should be fine." Starrk said, sheathing his blade, "My name is Coyote Starrk. Master Roshi sent me here to test your mettle, but I believe I have another connection you might find useful. This universe is unsafe. There are people like me everywhere. Safety lies in numbers. Seek out a male Saiyan by the name of Chishan, a female Saiyan named Pan, or an alien named Minosha. They're part of a collective that's named for the reborn bird of flame."

"Heh. It... It worked." Areleh tried to smile but found he didn't even have the energy for that. His shirt had been blown away and his pants were in tatters below the knee. He had scorch marks and raw patches of skin every where, and was bleeding from more than one place. One eye he held shut from the pain, barely managed to keep the other one open to watch out for Starrk. Not that he could have done anything to stop the other man right now.

It took everything he had not to collapse onto the ground. He had nothing left to give, and knew as much. Before he might have had more in the tank, but after that last attack, his body was just too damaged. The fight was over. His breathing had turned shallow and pained as he watched Starrk seem to consider something for a moment. And then he powered up.

And his power grew.

And grew.

And grew.

If his body hadn't been on the edge, Areleh might have tried to flee. He almost certainly would have if Starrk had come at him like this right out the gate. As it was, Areleh could only watch the fiery display of power. In a small corner of his mind, Areleh admitted to himself that he was in awe by Starrk's power. That he had stood against a man like this, even a man holding back his true power, was an accomplishment.

Now he waited for Starrk to end it... Only to find his body healed of its more extensive injuries. He blinked in confusion and looked at Starrk as he explained himself and his actions. Part of himself wanted to feel annoyed with the man for using him as a test, a guinea pig. The fact that he seemed to pass whatever test Starrk had for him though made him feel great to have recognition from someone so powerful.

When Starrk was through speaking, Areleh considered for a moment what he was going to do. It was entirely possible that going to this group would have him killed, though that seemed rather unlikely. If Starrk wanted him dead, he could certain kill him himself. And if this group had people as strong as Starrk in it, he could train with them and learn from them, getting stronger as a result. The decision seemed clear cut.

"You going to give me a place to find them at, or am I going to have to take another beating to get that?"
