[Combat Recorder] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFkdcQgNJHo A web of shafts and girders ran through the site forming the skeletons of buildings yet to stand. Treacherous metal beams ran from the roofs of each residence, forming a tight complex. Here, slightly north of South City, was the construction site of the Avalon Protectorate Changeling Embassy. What a fucking joke. A joke fashioned by the Protectorate to form the illusion that they and the Planet Trade Organisation were…what, friends? Allies? Gohan didn’t care about Avalon or their stupid farce of a complex, though. He was here because, if his contacts were right, they would be here. Exarch of the Frost Demons, High Priest of the Ice-Jinns, Supreme Commander of the Planet Trade Organization and Diktat of the South-East Quadrant. His Exalted Highness, King Cold. Probably wanting more to burn the place down than to help with its construction, though again Gohan didn’t care what happened to this ridiculous circus. What he did care about was annihilating that immoral man, destroying him. Honestly, he didn’t care if he did it brutally or pleasantly…quickly or slowly. He really had no quarrel with the man himself, and had no idea whether they would repeat here the terrible things he had done in the Half Saiyan’s own timeline. But he wasn’t going to chance it. So there he was, in the dead of night, sitting with his back resting against a large crate. He was there for at least half an hour until he finally felt it. A power level approaching, probably belonging to King Cold. It was low. Too low. Even a worthless figurehead would be stronger than what he was sensing now, so the ki had to be suppressed…much like Gohan’s own. But this only scared him. Nobody hid anything unless there was something worth hiding. What did King Cold have behind that lowly figure? When the Supreme Commander was close enough to surely be on-site Gohan slowly peered around the corner of the crate. As soon as he caught sight of his foe, he shot back to his hiding place and shuddered. The beast had to be at least eight feet tall! There was no way Gohan was risking another look, so he tried to get as much detail from the image he had seen as he could. King Cold walked directly forward to the main area of the semi-built Embassy with the calm yet meaningful walk of a politician with power. The red and blue cape trailing behind him completed the image, and purple flesh bulging with incredible muscles that refused to be hidden confirmed that King Cold’s power level was, indeed, fake. Now it seemed to be time to attack, though Gohan wasn’t really sure what to do. Slowly he crept back out from his little spot, head first again, and then pulled the rest of his body out until he was standing there, fully visible even in the construction site lit only be a few lights scattered around. His chosen foe was not looking in his direction and was unaware of his presence. Hmm…quite the tactical advantage. Gohan smiled slyly, looking at his hand, imagining himself blowing Cold sky-high before he knew he wasn’t alone. Something felt wrong about that, however. How could he start his heroic fight story with ‘I jumped the bad guy from behind when he wasn’t looking’? But here he was, ready to pounce. No, it wasn’t right. “Cold!” He yelled, cursing at himself as he did so. His tactical advantage was gone…but at least his honour wasn’t. Now what did he do? Wait to be punched? Watch his enemy flee? No, he would attack, but he would wait five seconds so it was fair. He began counting down, a bit faster than a clock would, in his head. 1… He quickly charged some ki in his hand, forming it into a dark blue orb. He would fire a blast as soon as he hit five. 2… Was five seconds a bit too long, he wondered? Too short? 2… Wait, hadn’t he already counted two? In his anxiety Gohan had forgotten. “Screw it,” he muttered. “That was plenty of time.” His arm swung forward and the blast Gohan had been holding there, which had grown to decent size in the time he had waited, bolted outwards towards the King. He imagined it making contact and exploding, illuminating the site with flame, but if that did happen he wouldn’t get to see it as the Psychic Master was already focusing on his next attack. He had pulled back his other arm as the first one had gone forward, and now he let his ki flow through that limb, an equally big bolt of blue energy appearing there. As he tossed this shot forward the Half Saiyan took up a sprint. Of course he couldn’t keep up with his energy attack, but that wasn’t his intention. As that second blast reached Cold, Gohan jumped and tossed forward his third and final wave of energy. The way he fired down to hit his grounded foe caused Gohan to be pushed up, giving him enough altitude to sail over his enemy’s head and land on the ground behind them shortly after the third shot would have made contact. As he was touching down he quickly reached into his pocket and retrieved a small pink piece of bubble gum. Super sugary bubble gum, to help him stay energized. He tossed this into his mouth, trying not to chew too fast. He took up another run towards King Cold, no tricks this time. Upon reaching his foe the boy jumped and shot outwards with his leg, going for a kick to the stomach – the highest point he could reach with a low-effort jump. Finishing his kick he flipped backwards and landed on the ground. Not wanting to stay right up in front of this giant Gohan jumped again, this time backwards. In mid-air, to stop an immediate pursuit, he opened his hand as if about to grab something. In response to his telekinetic command a throwing knife strapped to his boot shook free of its sheathe and into his palm where Gohan took hold of it. He tossed this knife at his foe, hoping to pierce through their red eye. As he landed Gohan quickly moved into a martial stance, placing one leg behind the other with his feet perpendicular. His raised his arms in front of him with the hands open, his guard ready. Time to avenge his old world. “I have come across some interesting information, my Lord,” said Moth, his voice uncertain. “Oh?” “Apparently the protectorate is building an embassy for the organisation just north of their south city.” “Did they not get the ‘Your system of government is a joke and we hate everything you stand for’ greeting card that we sent during the last holiday season?” “It would appear not.” “I wonder if Frost knows.” “It isn’t your duty to tell him anymore.” “True enough; I still want to check it out though. I bet there isn’t a single piece of ice on it.” “I don’t take sucker bets, sir.” Cold laughed and headed towards the airlock, having already donned the rainbow armour that Hemin had given him. It was actually something of a misnomer; the armour itself was completely black, but had a mother-of-pearl glow to it that some idiot must have thought looked like a rainbow. The King of Cruel didn’t know, but what he did know that the armour made him feel powerful. The former King wandered through the deserted construction site, not at all impressed with the sad excuse for an embassy that the Earthicans were constructing in alleged honour of his people. Perhaps that was the point. It would be typical of the passive aggressive squishy people to make a dump and call it an embassy. That would certainly explain the abundance of metal girders and lack of appropriate ceiling height. Any lower and Cold would have needed to bow his head. Content that it was nothing more than a steaming pile of crap, the former King was preparing to obliterate it and the surrounding several klicks of everything when he heard something yell his name. As he turned, Cold noted a humanoid with a ball of blue qi energy held in his hand. Though the boy was undoubtedly concentrating very hard on something, the King of Cruel couldn’t for the life of him figure out what it was. After several seconds, the boy loosed the attack in the changeling Lord’s general direct. With the abundance of randomly jutting girders and debris, Cold found little difficulty in darting behind one as the attack exploded harmlessly and obscured him from view. Taking another several steps back as the light from another attack penetrated the gloom, Cold leapt vertically in order to ascend through the twisted maze of artifice in search of the freedom of the fresh night air. Another explosion sounded somewhere behind him, yet Cold was surprised to note a few moments later that light was once again being projected from an energy attack being prepared above him. Curiously, there appeared to be no energy expended to create the attack; perhaps this human had cyborg parts. The onrushing attack was turned away effortlessly with the use of the shield that Cold had been presented with on Mortoseth before the shit hit the fan and he stood facing the human boy as he decided that now was a good time to chew some gum. Upon finishing the sugary morsel, the boy dashed forwards in an obvious attempt to strike out with a kick. Cold was much, much too powerful to let such a thing happen. As a counter-point to the hastily attempted strike, the reptilian warrior attempted to seize the boy by the ankle in order to impale him chest first onto one of the ample pieces of sharp metal surrounding the place. If the boy was as tough as the former King expected, the attack wouldn’t penetrate the skin but would instead cause a significant amount of discomfort. The follow-up attack had much more skill to it and showed Cold that this boy was not without a small amount of training. Nevertheless, the changeling Lord was able to block the attack by raising the hardened mushroom cap that had already served him once thus far. The kunai stuck point first into the shield, the hilt quivering ominously as Cold watched it dispassionately. After several moments looking at the razor-sharp throwing blade, Cold looked up and met the eyes of the boy as best he could while towering over him. Losing his titles and his two most recent fights had taught the former King a measure of caution, but he could not help the arrogance of his race. With an heir of laziness, Cold retrieved a small black cylinder from his belt and flicked it at the human. The cylinder exploded in a puff of smoke as soon as it drew close enough to his foe and as it happened, Cold input an eyeblink command into his scouter. As a former black ops agent for the Organisation, there were several tones that were subliminally keyed to responses in the former King himself that would heighten his performance temporarily. In this case, it would make him a better fighter for the next few moments. With that to look forward to, Cold sank into his crush stance, ready to destroy his opponent. Like it or not, he was beginning to enjoy himself once more. Word Count: 841

As he dashed in to strike with his kick something flashed before Gohan’s eyes. A vision of himself being grabbed and swung through the air by KC’s hand. He was forcefully slammed onto a nearby spiked edge of metal and impaled, blood and guts spilling out of him onto the chest of the grinning brute. The image engraved in his mind was seconds long but had come to him in an instant, and he suddenly knew he had to move. Just as he kicked outwards the boy snapped his leg back, bringing it out of grabbing range as he fell back onto the concrete floor. King Cold’s snatching arm came out to grasp but found nothing; Gohan’s telepathic premonition seemed to have saved his life. “Too slow, Cold,” he smirked before jumping away, continuing with his knife throw as he had planned. As his blade made its place and its mark upon the King of Cruel’s shield the boy wondered what to do next. He had to stay at range lest his telepathy failed to warn him of his incoming doom a second time, but then how could he do damage when that shield stopped his knives and the Changeling could skilfully glide his way past the Half Saiyan’s ki attacks? He had to admit, there was a lot of cover here…perhaps not the best battleground. Maybe he could hamper Cold’s dodging prowess, though…reaching into another pocket he shuffled his hand around, searching for a metal object. Seeing his foe mirror his action planted a sense of urgency in the boy, and his search became desperate. He didn’t want to be hit before he hit the enemy. Eventually his fingers closed around a small purple sphere, and he drew out his prey. Cold had also found what he was looking for, and the two threw their weapons at each other simultaneously. The grenades both emitted a puff of inky smoke. As Gohan coughed in suffocation he felt his body slowing down, responding to orders at a sluggish speed; he knew King Cold would be experiencing the same thing, which was a minor relief. He also knew there was something his foe probably didn’t have; reaching into his pocket again Gohan drew out a second piece of sugar gum, which he tossed into his mouth. It would negate the effects somewhat, but not entirely. Cold’s grasping fingers clutched nought but air as the human appeared to precognitively anticipate the attack in order to allow himself time to jerk his leg free of the impending counterattack. It wasn’t surprising. It seemed that every second person in the galaxy had precognitive powers these days. As though he was watching a mirror, Cold observed the boy utilise exactly the same strategy as he himself was. Suppressing a derisive snort, the former King seized his hardened power pole and pointed it straight at the human’s solar plexus. When it was in position, he muttered the magic word to make the weapon extend in less than a moment. While the human was suitably distracted, Cold retrieved another item from his new battle kit and tossed it at his foe’s feet. The proximity trigger activated when it was close enough for maximum efficacy and the grenade exploded in a puff of smoke that was considerably weaker than the first. He wondered if the boy had a similar device, but was pleased to see that there were no weapons to speak of. In any event, he was about to find out. Stowing the power pole in its sling, Cold unsheathed his blade. He revelled in the tell-tale metal on metal sliding that accompanied the drawing of this sword. Glowing runes covered the quarter of the blade closest to the hilt and promised dark things for anyone unfortunate enough to be struck by it. In this instance, the person at the pointy end of the sword was the human Cold was not familiar with. He slashed horizontally with one hand before spinning and firing a quick jab straight at the human’s nose with his free hand. As he continued his pirouette, Cold slashed horizontally at the human’s upper chest and attempted to jab the human in the solar plexus once more. Keeping up the assault, Cold tossed his weapon into the air and fired two quick jabs at either side of the human’s face before catching the weapon and attempting to drive its enochian steel blade straight through the human’s heart. As he prepared to fight again, Gohan noticed that King Cold was suddenly wielding a staff. It wasn’t surprising. It seemed that every second person in the galaxy had a weapon or two these days. This one was unique, though. Cold seemed to aim it at him, like a gun or something. Gohan moved a hand in front of his chest as a natural reaction, hoping to stop whatever projectile came out. Against his expectations the weapon itself extended, stretching outwards at high speed towards its target. With his hand already in place Gohan reached down and forward somewhat and grasped the tip of the staff, just before it could reach its full length. It stopped extending as he tightened his grip and then retracted again as the boy let go, returning to King Cold. “Ha. Nice stick, loser.” He knew he was tempting fate with his insults and mockery, but it was just what he liked doing. And hey, if Cold got mad and left a hole in his defence open? That was a bonus. Silent as ever, King Cold tossed something at Gohan’s feet and another burst of smoke engulfed him. Gohan coughed, feeling his speed drain away again. He reached into his pocket only to find there was nothing left there except another grenade. No more gum. Shit. Having now switched his magical stick for a sword – a man could wonder why the staff was even on King Cold’s person if it made such a brief appearance – Cold dashed forward to continue his assault. Although psychic premonitions came to him randomly, due to hard-core training Gohan was also able to temporarily call on them himself. He did this now, because…well, who wanted to get beheaded by a sword? Screw that. Images flew into his mind of King Cold, in the exact spot he was running towards. In the vision, the changeling spun and slashed horizontally with his sword, and then jabbed. Then he slashed again, and finished with a second jab. Knowing exactly where to move Gohan ducked, letting the blade slide over him. He then effortlessly stood back up while tilting somewhat to the side, letting Cold’s jab shoot past his face. He ducked again to avoid the second slash and then, instead of repeating his manoeuvre from before, jumped directly upwards to sail right over the second jab, which was significantly lower than the first. Landing again he was greeted with something he hadn’t seen in the prediction: two jabs and a blade to his chest which bounced off with a powerful ‘Klang!’ Apparently Damaskian Armor could top PTO Weapons. There was still force behind the attack even if the armor had made it do little to no damage, however, and Gohan staggered back somewhat. He looked up at Cold and began to charge ki in his hand. This wasn’t a standard blast, though. This was a new technique that he had developed, and he was ready to test it out. Hundreds of tiny yellow ki ‘pellets’ formed in his hand, staying separate. Vanishing from sight Gohan used his speed teleport, reappearing behind his foe with his charged hand raised and ready to fire. “Flash Bomb!” He yelled. His palm let out a flash of light and, like some sort of shotgun, fired the many pellets stored there. They would rain outwards towards Cold and hopefully spray him, knocking him away and leaving some mean scars. After firing this technique the Half Saiyan tumbled his way out of the conflict, withdrawing again to prepare himself. “You guys still awake?” He asked, tapping a finger to his headset. Hopefully he could contact his crew. “Yep. What do you want?” Replied a voice he recognized as the pilot of his ship. “Lasers. Same thing I always want.” “Right, right…they’re on the way.” A red beam of energy suddenly bolted from the clouds, through the pathetic roof above the construction site, and onto the spot where King Cold stood. Hopefully it would go right through him, too, leaving a big hole in the king. While this happened Gohan reached into his pocket, grabbing that last grenade he had felt before and tossing it towards his foe. Might as well slow Cold down as much as possible, because he was probably pretty pissed now. Cold felt a mixture of pleasure and annoyance, his mood swinging between the two like a yoyo with the mixed success of his previous attacks. Nevertheless, he was pleased with the way the fight was going thus far. Though given the manner in which his previous fights had turned from pleasing to not so, Cold should have been less than surprised when the human pulled something miraculous out of his underage ass. Not expecting the surge in speed, Cold barely had time to turn before he was hit with a shotgun blast of ki energy that impacted with his shoulder as he turned and sent him cartwheeling across the roof of the metal monstrosity. The former King got to his feet gingerly, partly wondering where the truck that just ran over him had gotten to. He couldn’t see the human with his initial scan of the area, but could hear what sounded like one side of a conversation and wondered what was going on. The answer came in the form of a laser-beam from the heavens and made the former king really wish that he hadn’t asked. Owing to the size and speed of the beam, Cold wasn’t sure if it hit him or not, just that he ended up three stories down in a pile of rubble and building materials. He caught a faint whiff of something that smelled suspiciously reminiscent of his grenade, but thought little of it in favour of laying some smack down upon the annoyingly powerful human. Apparently the battle with Junior Hiiragi wasn’t enough to make him respect the species as a whole. After ensuring that his weapons were securely sheathed, Cold moved along the floor below the boy’s position and emerged from beneath in a shower of concrete and metal reinforcing bars. He swung a roundhouse right kick at the human’s jaw as soon as he emerged and, after spinning with the inertia of his first attack, followed up with a hammer blow that was aimed at the back of kid bombardment’s stupid head. With his annoyance-based bloodlust sufficiently sated, Cold could stand back and gloat for the first time thus far in the fight. “Tell me, human,” he said, his booming regal voice echoing off the metal and concrete environment, “do you have red bull here? It gives you wings.” With that, Cold took out an energy drink can and downed its contents in a single gulp. The blemishes upon his skin from the previous two attacks all but healed up and Cold flexed his arm to prove that it was good as new. “And I will use those wings to destroy your support crew. Don’t go anywhere; I’m not finished with you yet. Bye now.” He didn’t involve himself with the ridiculous grandstanding that the human had offered as he was throwing energy around. It wasn’t Cold’s way to talk too much. He much preferred to play with his food nonverbally before he ate it. And eat the human he would; starting with that smart-ass brain of his. True to his word, the reptilian warrior rose up into the air and sought the weak qi signatures that he had sensed at the origin of the orbital attack. He found them easy enough; Earth didn’t have a great deal of space traffic and the heavily armed warship stood out like an ice wolf in a pack of voxyn. Preparing to do something gruesome, the King of Cruel flew to the cockpit window and knocked it. The reaction from the crew was priceless and made the energy expended absolutely worth it. Now it was time to destroy someone. A plan formed in Cold’s mind and caused a feral grin to light up his features. Assuming that the whelp didn’t catch up with him in the meantime, Cold would crash through the viewport and tear the closest crew member’s arms off before he even registered that the huge alien outside the window had moved. Exiting the ship, still clutching the crew member’s arms if all went according to plan, Cold sought out the human with the idea that he would start beating him with the makeshift clubs. It appeared that the King of Cruel had vanished. Scanning the area Gohan quickly sensed him, crawling around underground…Before he realised what was about to happen, the changeling burst out of the ground in front of him. Stunned by the sudden attack Gohan was unable to defend himself against a kick followed by a hammer blow. The second strike was enough to knock him onto his knees. In standard super villain fashion King Cold began to gloat at him.
“Uhh…yeah. Yeah, we have Red Bull.” In response Cold retrieved a can of the beverage from his mantle, or something, and drank it quickly. To Gohan’s horror the scars on the beast faded away, and it looked as if he had never been harmed. That was some intense Red Bull.
The Psychic Master watched as Cold ascended somewhat, looked around, and then took on a determined flight in one direction. As the shock from the previous attack wore off he processed what his foe had said, and then he realised what they meant. “NO!” He suddenly yelled, leaping to his feet and taking off after his enemy. King Cold was fast and already well on his way to Gohan’s ship. In a race Gohan suspected that the changeling would be able to out speed him, but his enemy seemed to be moving at a relaxed pace. Gohan on the other hand was moving just about as fast as he could, and it was only just enough. As he reached a certain altitude his helmet folded out of his collar and clipped together around his head, allowing him to breath and speak in space through a microphone. He had almost caught up to King Cold as the changeling reached the cockpit of his ship. He seemed to stop for a moment, as if to mock the crew inside, and then prepared to go right through the cockpit window. This pause was the downfall of his plan, however, allowing Gohan to close the last bit of distance between them. The boy zoomed into position right between Cold and the window and reached out with both arms, blocking him before he destroyed anything. He followed up by swiping outwards with both arms to break the enemy’s block and then raising his leg, kicking outwards to knock King Cold away. The boy turned around to see his pilot and co-pilots applauding him, and with a smile he signalled for them to flee. As his ship pulled away and jumped to another solar system Gohan immediately started his assault against Cold. Blue sparks fizzled out of his right palm before an orb of ki burst to life there, glowing and crackling with expensive energy. The Big Bang Attack grew until it was at least three times the size of his head before it was ready, at which point Gohan tossed it towards his foe. The energy seemed to fly the same way it always did, even in space, which was nice. The last thing Gohan wanted was to find it was difficult to adjust to space combat, because he was already at a disadvantage here due to the fact that King Cold seemed to be completely unfazed by space conditions; there he was, in no special gear, like this was completely normal for him. Nevertheless, Gohan couldn’t let himself be scared by this weird ability. Instead he unleashed more destructive power, charging another cluster of yellow ki pellets in his hand. As his Big Bang Attack reached King Cold, Gohan vanished again, this time re-appearing beside his foe. Yet again he unleashed the shotgun-like wave of ki, hoping to kill the enemy through sheer brute force. After this second attack he did not stop to catch his breath; instead Gohan started to let go, allowing his power to flow and flex as it willed. A blue aura of flaming ki burst out of him suddenly, and his power level increased to a level that trifled King Cold’s lesser number. He hovered there, waiting for his enemy to strike back. Somehow, the King of Cruel knew that this human boy was intent on thwarting his plans. By far the most disappointing part was the fact that he never got to use the arm-clubs. The thwarting the reptilian behemoth’s plans nature of the boy’s strategy became even more apparent when, instead of engaging in a close quarters melee, the boy simple punted him away. It was, perhaps, fortunate that the duo were still in outer space. The punt carried Cold towards the moon and gave him ample time to see the big bang attack form and then grow in the hands of the human. There would be no deflecting such a powerful attack, but by a stroke of double-edged luck, being betrayed by Iblis had equipped Cold with a technique that he could use to give the human a taste of getting his plans thwarted. As he concentrated on using the technique, Cold became aware of his cells on an individual level and everything outside himself became less important in his mind’s eye. He concentrated on each cell, imbuing them with qi energy in order to shift his entire body slightly out of phase with the current dimension. Physical matter and the laws of physics now had no meaning to him and his tumble towards the moon stopped. Looking at the human with an expression of utmost triumph, Cold raised his middle finger in a gesture that was known on this planet as flipping him off. The big bang attack drew ever closer and went straight through the former King, doing no damage and giving him an explosion as a backdrop as it impacted with the moon. As this was taking place, the human had vanished again and blurred into existence once more to the side of the serpentine warrior. Electricity crackled around Lord Cold as he once again became the subject of the laws of physics. This wasn’t ordinary electricity. This electricity was charged in such a way that it absorbed the subsequent energy shotgun blast and fed its power back into the former King. It was with no small amount of smirking that Cold turned to regard his foe. After using his second powerful attack in such a short space of time, the exhaustion was evident in his features. What a silly little rabbit. “My turn,” Cold murmured, almost to himself. He began by flying towards the human and aiming a brutal elbow at his gut before using his momentum and a little bit of qi energy to spin like a top. At the same point in each spin, Cold aimed to slam his tail into the side of his hapless opponent’s knee. As if that wasn’t enough to make the kid throw up, the King of Cruel slammed two qi-enhanced punches into his opponent’s back before speed teleporting in front of him and delivering a brutal backhand punch straight at his prepubescent face. Content that he had laid enough smack-down upon the kid for now, Cold shifted away and assumed a fighting stance in preparation for the inevitable counterattack. Word Count: 511

King Cold proved that he could indeed move faster when he wanted to, zooming forward and elbowing Gohan in the gut before the boy could react. This left him staggered and unable to defend against three strikes to the knee from King Cold’s surprisingly sturdy tail. In turn, the shock from these attacks made Gohan unable to block three more, consisting of two ki-enhanced punches and a backhand. That last backhand sent him flying away, which in space was more of a never-ending float in one direction. Letting himself go along with the flow of space, Gohan used his telekinesis to retrieve his two remaining kunai from sheathes on each arm, and then grasped them with his hands. Pulling each knife back to the opposite shoulder the Half Saiyan tensed his arms and then let go, flinging them forwards and sending his weapons towards King Cold, one for each side of his head. Gohan then took flight, shooting through the expanse of space to close the gap between him and King Cold again. He pulled his fist back and, as he reached the changeling, tossed it forward in a punch towards the face. He then pulled back and did the same again, but this time with his leg in a kick towards the King of Cruel’s gut. Gohan moved to attack again, but before he could do anything a wave of fatigue swept through his body. The boy almost shrieked in pain as every muscle locked up, like some sort of short-term paralysis. Gohan felt tired and drained, as if his stamina was taking a huge hit. He realised that he had been a fool to expend so much energy before. Now he was unable to deliver an offense big enough to close the gap between him and his foe made by the damage he had taken just before and, even worse, he was at King Cold’s mercy to yet another onslaught, meaning that unless this wore off fast he was about to fall even further behind. Would this be the beginning of his downfall, all due to a bit of rash behaviour? Gohan viciously willed his body to move, knowing that he had to win now or his planet would be destroyed. Thinking for a moment, he began to panic. He had already proven he was a threat considering the damage he had dealt so far, even if it wasn’t showing thanks to whatever ridiculous substance they put in Changeling energy drinks. What if Cold thought he was a human? Would he seek to eradicate further threats by conquering Earth, just as he had in Gohan’s future? Perhaps he hadn’t planned to do anything to Earth, but the Half Saiyan’s attack was encouraging him to take action, meaning that the destruction of Earth was Gohan’s fault in some form of self-fulfilling prophecy…could time even work like that? As he watched his foe tumble through the infinite expanse of space, Cold got the distinct feeling that there was something fateful about this encounter. It felt as though everything in his life had occurred so that he would be here at this time to destroy this human. But why stop there? Earth was like a hunting preserve and he was the hunter from another world, sent by the fates to cull the weaker members of Earth’s population. The only thing that stood in the way was this surprisingly resilient human. If fate decreed that he should live, then so be it. But if Cold had a choice… While he was mid-tumble, the teenager retrieved more pieces of cutlery and flung them as hard as he could at the former King’s face. Once again, his lordship retreated behind the shield that was as much a vestige of his time on Mortoseth as his exile was. Once again, the cutlery pieces thudded ominously into the hardened surface. Their impact sent shockwaves through the entire shield and made the behemoth’s arms tingle. Not content with simply throwing utensils at the former King, the boy set off towards Cold at a somewhat hurried pace. Mid-flight, the kid drew his hand back and thereby telegraphed his intentions in a way that was almost less subtle than writing his plans on a huge sign. Rather than block or try to dodge, the former King simple turned his head slightly and took it on the chin. Owing to the fact that his particular fighting style made a being more resilient to such strikes, Cold felt nothing at all and hoped that the kid had just broken a knuckle or two. The follow-up strike met with a similar fate and the serpentine warrior was not at all surprised to see that every muscle in the boy’s body was contracting with exhaustion. Such a silly little rabbit. Rather than burn through his energy like the rabbit, Cold decided that it was time to tenderise the meat. In his culture, that meant beating the toughness out of it and thus the former King moved in close to take advantage of the rabbit’s lack of mobility. Word Count: 366

No…no! He couldn’t rest yet! Not when they were counting on him! In one explosive burst of determination Gohan forced his way out of the paralysed state, just as King Cold began to advance on him. “Just kidding!” He yelled through his speaker before vanishing again, reappearing behind his enemy. He unleashed a kick for his foe’s back, hoping to damage Cold’s spine. After his attack the boy began to float away, hoping to get some distance between him and King Cold. Once again his hand ignited with glowing cyan energy that quickly turned into a sizable ball of ki. He watched it grow and spin, gathering power until it was ready to be used for destruction, and then he tossed it towards his foe. “Big Bang Attack!” The shout came across crackly and distorted because of his microphone, somewhat decreasing the cool factor of the technique. That would be fixed, however, when the blast exploded on contact with Cold in a great big firework. Assuming it hit, anyway. Gohan briefly considered firing a second blast but decided to avoid paralysing himself again. Instead he took flight, once again bolting through space to return to the foe he had floated away from. Upon reaching King Cold the boy lunged forward, aiming to slam his elbow into the changeling’s face. He followed up with a quick punch digging into the stomach, and then an equally quick kick aiming to send Cold away. Gohan immediately went in pursuit and caught up fast, meeting the King of Cruel with a nice backhand across the face. He threw another punch towards the stomach, this time slow and powerful for maximum damage. Gohan then repeated his past move, kicking again to send Cold flying. He followed again and, like a film on repeat, once again delivered a backhand. This one was a bit different, thankfully. Gohan spun before the strike, increasing his momentum and meaning there was enough force behind it to knock Cold flying away again, back towards the planet. Not giving his enemy time to recover the boy quickly charged and fired another beam of energy. He made sure to keep it small and weak to avoid fatiguing himself, but it was enough to put Cold on the path back towards Earth if he didn’t dodge. Hopefully he wouldn’t, because Gohan definitely didn’t want to be up here forever. The slightest pierce of his helmet, especially in the particularly flimsy visor, could be the end of him. Cold knew that, though, so he doubted his opponent would want to go anywhere soon. The youth was definitely not interested in engaging the former King of the Changelings in a close quarters fight, instead electing to once again punt the serpentine warrior out of the way when he tried to get close. The attack sent Cold tumbling towards the nothingness of space and afforded him time to watch his youthful opponent prepare yet another strong energy attack. Surely he didn’t have the reserves to keep up this sort of sustained output? A master tactician, the former King had already witnessed one bout of paralytic exhaustion and questioned the validity of the boy’s continued use of such tactics. Nevertheless, even if the boy couldn’t afford to use the energy, Cold definitely couldn’t afford to get hit by it. He didn’t want to risk rupturing his cells by shifting out of phase again, but fortunately his agility training appeared to have prepared him to outmanoeuvre his much smaller opponent. The expansive nature of space meant that there were a multitude of different vectors that Cold could escape along. In this case, he chose one that would put him at a strategic advantage for later on. Reaching deep within himself for the sort of power that was activated by the fight or flight reflex, the serpentine warrior god slid from his position and possibly from sight as he moved towards the sun. The blast passed harmlessly by and continued on it course. A part of Cold’s brain not occupied with the battle was interested enough to note that the blast would keep going until it hit something, a task which could take decades. He paid the price for his lack of focus. Though not entirely aware of exactly what had happened, Cold found himself drifting with the distinct impression that he had just been run over by another truck. Or it could possibly have been the same truck back to finish the job. In any event, he was eager to take his pound of flesh and decided that he should get creative. Rather than attack head-on, Cold headed towards the sun once more and stopped when he directly between his opponent and the gigantic ball of burning gas. With visibility hopefully compromised, the King of Cruel raised a single finger and fired a weak beam of energy straight at his opponent. The trick with this attack was not in its power, but with its speed and accuracy. If it hit the boy, he would barely notice it but if Cold’s aim was true then the fight could get very interesting, for the beam was aimed directly at the visor of the boy’s lifesaving helmet. Now was the time for a frenzied attack and the brute of a changeling aimed to do just that. He flew at the boy, shifting this way and that as he made his way out of the sun while brandishing his blade. There were four attacks in total and each was aimed for maximum effectiveness. The first two formed an X that aimed to split the armour shell from shoulder to opposite hip on both sides. The penultimate attack involved a hilt-smash that was aimed at the boy’s chin and the pièce de résistance was a hard, fast thrust at the boy’s waist whose goal was to take advantage of the flinch that would be caused by a successful penultimate attack. When all was said and done, the King of Cruel silently wished the boy luck getting out of that one unscathed. Word Count: 555

Gohan struggled to look up towards King Cold, the huge sun blinding him. Before that could register as a real problem, though, a greater one arose. Faster than the boy could track a tiny beam of ki shot through the gap between him and his foe that landed, to his dismay, right on his visor. A horrible ‘crack!’ ran through the space around his head and his vision became obscured as a web of jagged lines rippled across the red view hole. The material was hardened and shock-proof, apparently enough to make it just stay together, though Gohan suspected it was only a matter of time before it began to chip away and he was directly exposed to space. He had to get away before then. But how? He didn’t think Cold would just follow him back down to Earth considering the advantage he had up here. He needed to get indoors, somehow…an idea came to him. Quickly Gohan switched his microphone back to his ship pilot, hoping they hadn’t gone too far so he could make contact. Thankfully it seemed his speaker was in fine condition, though the conversation was very crackly because of the longer range. “You still on the ship?” He asked his pilot as he made connection.” King Cold was coming towards him fast, so Gohan tried to sound as urgent as possible. “Nope, and we’re not going back up. I don’t want to get eaten by…whatever that thing was!” “But it’s still in orbit?” “Yeah, one jump away.” “Alright, cool, get back to…whatever you guys do.” With this information secure he’d just need to press a couple buttons on his tac-pad. Activating his remote ship control Gohan set the cruiser to make a jump back to his location and then open its cargo door. With that done he just had to survive for a few seconds, avoiding as much as he could. Gohan looked up, only to find that King Cold had reached him. With no time to react he was struck twice, two cuts forming an ‘X’ on the front of his armor. Thankfully that didn’t break either, though it too looked like it was ready to snap. Now that he was ready again the boy managed to disappear before the third attack struck upon, rematerializing a metre away before moving back into position. The final attack was a piercing strike to the waste, but by now Gohan was back on top of his game. In a very precise movement that he had spent months of full-time practice mastering, Gohan reached forward to take hold of the sword itself, grabbing it in a way that avoided his gloves being cut. Pulling on the blade now in a way that would cause him to move towards King Cold, Gohan threw forward his elbow again, trying to drive it into the enemy’s neck. He then broke away to charge some ki, one ball in each hand. Striking forward he aimed to punch twice, each strike aiming at Cold’s chest, and each aiming to explode on him for maximum damage. It was after Gohan threw these punches that his unmanned ship arrived again, appearing very close to him. As he had instructed, the cargo door on its underside flipped open and a few crates of various items fell out. Gohan kicked out twice at King Cold, both attacks aiming to explode like his two punches. On the second strike he took off towards his ship, flying into the open door and finding himself in his cargo room. His plan was that Cold would follow him right in, at which point Gohan would close the door and not having to worry about the impending doom caused by his visor, which was getting more and more cracked by the second. Though the execution of his strategy worked as it was supposed to, the self-proclaimed tactical genius was less than satisfied with the results. He had apparently miscalculated the durability of the youth’s helmet and as such there wasn’t an immediate explosive decompression. Biting back on his disappointment, Cold shifted his focus to the mixed results of his sword salvo. There was a big X carved into the human’s armour where the enochian steel blade of his sword had bit into it, but there was also a nasty bruise forming where the youth had somehow managed to sneak a strike through. Unperturbed by Cold’s skill with a blade, or perhaps emboldened by his lucky shot, the boy dashed forwards in what the former King could only describe as a flailing, qi-enhanced bum rush. Calmly and ever so arrogantly, the serpentine warrior raised his hand and pressed the button on his helmet that activated his body shield. All that was left to do subsequently was to experience the somewhat muted impacts of the annoyingly strong strikes. Using the shield turned out to be something of a miscalculation as it failed against the penultimate attack and Cold wasn’t quite ready enough to do anything about the last one as it exploded against his skin. Nevertheless, he’d had worse injuries and pushed away the pain with a sense of surprise as the boy’s ship arrived again. Were they not sufficiently traumatised from last time? The ventral cargo doors opened, its contents somehow spilling out in spite of the fact that there wasn’t any gravity in deep space. Maybe the ship was an older, less well designed model. The disappearance of the boy into the ship screamed trap, but Cold felt secure enough in his abilities to spring it without fear of too much reprisal. As it turned out, the boy was simply waiting for him. In a move that might be described later as reckless, the serpentine warrior neglected to make any more checks to see if it was a trap and dashed headlong into his next attack. He started with a brutal overhead slash that was aimed for the boy’s right shoulder where it intersected with his neck. With any luck, he’d split the brat in two. If that didn’t work, there was always the second effort. In this case, it involved a simple thrust of the point of the weapon at the armoured solar plexus of his foe. Upon the success or failure of the attack, Cold took several quick steps back in order to make some room for his next trick. Drawing his hand back in the same way that a baseball pitcher might on Earth, the former King summoned a ball of qi energy in the palm of his hand. Cold, as a pitcher would when throwing a fastball, put everything behind the throw, pushing the limits of his strength to make the attack move as quickly as possible. Once the orb left Cold’s palm it split into three equally sized discs, the speed with which it was thrown maintained throughout. Each disc took a different path before converging upon the human from all sides. Content that not even a god could get out of that one, Cold retrieved a drink from his bag of tricks and downed it in one go. Word Count: 552

King Cold didn’t seem to have any problem following Gohan onto the ship, and as he entered the doors closed again behind him. The changeling then came forward, striking again with an overhead slash for the shoulder. Not sticking around to be cut in two, Gohan jumped backwards and watched as the blade struck against the steel floor, sending a vibration through the room. Before his foe could strike again the boy dashed forward, jumping again and sticking his leg out with his knee pointed towards the gut of the enemy. After his attack he was rewarded with a stab aimed towards the solar plexus. Once again Gohan jumped back, though this time he threw his arm forward with an open palm. He began to charge something similar to a ki blast, though it was a much lighter colour…like ice. In less than a second it was done, and just as Cold was finishing his strike the boy let his Ice Blast loose. Hopefully that would contain the enemy for at least a few seconds. Landing again Gohan quickly ripped off his helmet and tossed it away before reaching out with his telekinesis for a box of spare helmets he had spotted before. Luckily they were in the corner of the room, not in the middle over the cargo door, because the crates stored there were now off in space somewhere. Taking hold of the crate with his mind he removed the lid and made one of the helmets float out before shooting over into his extended hand. Quickly he donned this new headgear. It was the same as his own and these helmets were designed to be universal, so it clipped into place on his collar just fine. His armour was still somewhat damaged, so he would still try to avoid going back into space, but at least now he was sort of ready. At some point during this process King Cold had freed himself from the ice attack, and was now striking again…this time with a technique Gohan definitely hadn’t seen before. The ki itself seemed okay, but his form looked more like he was about to pitch a ball than throw a blast. Sure enough Cold did throw his blast like some sort of baseball, but upon leaving his palm it burst into three separate discs…some sort of customised Kienzans? The discs all swerved around him before homing in on the boy all from different directions, which apparently was supposed to make it harder to dodge or something. But dodging wasn’t on the agenda this time. Getting back into his power up stance Gohan focused, making sure his breathing was perfect. Then he screamed, letting out a very short but very loud sound enhanced by his ki. It was so loud that a shockwave exploded out of his mouth, bursting outwards in a small radius around the Psychic Master. The three discs of ki, just about to hit it, were all stopped in their tracks on contact with the shockwave and a moment later all three of them dissipated into nothingness. Gohan smiled. Some techniques were cheap, and that was just about the cheapest. Cold was now drinking another beverage of some sort, and Gohan moved in to attack again. He wasn’t fast enough to stop his foe from finishing their second drink of the night, but he was still able to deliver a reasonable assault. Gohan started by jumping high into the air to reach Cold’s height, at which point he pulled back an arm before throwing it forward, aiming to punch his foe in the face. Gohan quickly followed up by swinging his foot forward, aiming to drive it into the King of Cruel’s neck. As gravity took hold and he began to fall the half saiyan quickly swung forward with his arm once for, attempting to elbow his foe in the stomach. Upon making contact with the ground he moved backwards again, not wanting to get stomped on or something like that. He’d promised before not to get close at all, though the boy had decided now that he would have to fight with his fists at some point. The trick would just be to make sure he got away before the enemy struck back. The clang of metal hitting metal resonated through the steel cage that Cold found himself in. The resulting tremor that spread through his upper limbs had something of a paralysing effect and rendered the behemoth unable to prevent the human’s knee from slamming into his chest. The rushing sound of air being released could be heard, but it did nothing to stop the subsequent attack. The honour of stopping that went to the icy qi blast that froze the former King’s upper body in a thick layer of ice. The immobilising effects of the ice were exceptional and spoke to a certain amount of skill on the part of the human. Nevertheless, it was still just ice and Cold shattered it with a flex of his muscles. The signature attack that followed was less than successful, but nevertheless caused the human to display another of his seemingly encyclopaedic knowledge of qi techniques. Like the ebb and flow of the tide, the offense once again turned to the human with the home ground advantage. As the aforementioned human dashed forward to attack, the serpentine warrior’s power pole found his hand. When the human moved to strike out with a closed fist, the former King was faster, crippling the attack with a straight thrust at the nose of his foe. His vigour not diminished by the lack of success, the boy swung a kick at Cold’s meaty neck. Rather than poke the boy with his power pole, the King of Cruel elected to go for a more crippling blow. Almost faster than the eye could see, he shortened the pole and lashed out with it, aiming to strike the human in his genitals in order to hamper his movement and set up the beginning of his end. The elbow strike that was sent at Cold’s gut during the human’s descent was dealt with quickly and with the rushing sound of changeling qi as the second ice blast in as many moments lashed out towards the changeling warrior’s foe. In an effort to take advantage of the boy’s immobilisation, the tactically aware former King attempted a horizontal slash whose aim was to open the boy’s throat from left to right. He stayed in close after this and attempted to force the boy into fighting on his terms once again. Word Count: 386

Gohan’s attacks were negated and the changeling struck back with jabs to the nose and groin. Staggering backwards from this second low blow, Gohan found he was unable to avoid the next attack, which just so happened to be the very same technique he had just used. The cyan blast of ice exploded against him and in moments Gohan was frozen in the centre of a large ice cube. Cold immediately came to strike, swinging across with his blade to perhaps cut Gohan’s neck at the halfway point. The half saiyan wasn’t going to let this happen, though. He moved, so fast that once again it appeared as if he had vanished from sight and reappeared. Doing this made the ice around him shatter into pieces, making it look to King Cold as if he had exploded into the cold substance until, after the many shards pelted into the floor, he re-appeared a metre away. Still not wanting to stay close and be destroyed Gohan used his smaller size to his advantage, tucking and rolling forwards. He (somewhat painfully) rolled over a few ice shards before going right between Cold’s legs, ending up behind his enemy. Returning to a standing position he raised his leg and kicked out behind him, aiming to knock his foe down. Gohan then jumped away, landing on the other side of the room. He quickly powered up again, his blue ki flowing through him and exploding outwards with the appearance of flame as he generated a bit more energy. As his power output grew greater, objects on either side of him – crates, barrels, boxes – began to levitate and spin around. Seeing this, he got an idea. The boy used his telekinesis to grab the two closest objects, two barrels of oil, and forcefully threw them both towards his enemy. The rest of the items fell back onto the steel floor, likely to be used later. Content in the knowledge that this human wouldn’t be breeding any time in the near future, Cold barely registered that he had been kicked in the back. As the former King turned to regard the galaxy’s newest eunuch, he saw that said eunuch was celebrating his new non-breeding status by putting on an acrobatic show. Except that he wasn’t very good at controlling all the little bits of bullshit that filled the cargo hold in spite of the fact that pretty much everything had defied physics to fall out when the cargo bay doors had opened, because two barrels flew off towards the serpentine warrior as though his foe was trying to hurt him. It was a foolish gambit and one that would be put to the sword momentarily. Speaking of swords, Cold’s rare blade was in his hand and moving even before he put a thought to his course of action. Though not recognised by the dojo as a blade master, the King of Cruel was exactly that. The blade sang as it arced through the air and passed through the middle of the barrel, which turned out to be full of a viscous brown liquid that splashed everywhere as the two barrel halves flew harmlessly to either side of the tactical genius as he narrowed his profile. Unfortunately, narrowing his profile to avoid the halves of the first barrel meant that he was ill-prepared to deal with the second. While one half of the newly dissected barrel flew by the wayside as intended, the other impacted with Cold’s hip, the sheer edge causing a sizeable graze thereupon. Irritated to his core, the former King flared his qi energy in order to rid himself of the sticky brown liquid before pushing his limits in order to launch himself to the other side of the cargo hold in less than a fraction of a moment. Even so, there was a razor sharp disc of qi energy in his hand when he arrived and another fraction of a moment later it was buzzing ominously towards the human. Before the human could blink stupidly at the buzzing wheel of death heading towards him, Cold was on yet another different side of the cargo hold and had thrown yet another qi buzz-saw of death. The two discs would move in unison, arriving from separate sides in order to cut off two angles of escape. The first disc would angle to remove the human’s head, while the second would aim to neatly separate him into two pieces at the waist below the armour. For his part, the King of Cruel moved to stand in front of the boy in order to cut off that avenue of escape. After exerting himself more in the last few moments than he had the whole time, the former King was feeling quite exhausted. Word Count: 475

KC keeps it. It's getting really close though, I'm having to look at stuff like spelling and the like, which might be a weaker point for some. But the point is this is enjoyable and a close match. |

Although Cold didn’t seem to notice, he was moving slowly. Gohan smirked, noticing an apparent side-effect of the Ice Blast. This would make him much easier to kill. Cold prepared a spinning blade of energy in his hand and tossed it towards the boy. The technique was spinning towards him at roughly normal speed for an attack of its type, so apparently the speed of Cold’s ki wasn’t affected. No matter. Gohan moved to duck under the shot but instead found that he, too, was moving slower than normal. Apparently he and his enemy were both in slow motion. Thinking fast, the Half Saiyan began to raise his arm as fast as he could. He flattened out the hand, his palm facing the floor, hoping to bat the shot out of the way. It was tricky but he managed to hit it, sending the disk far off course and into a nearby reinforced wall where it left a mere cut. There was no time to relax, though, as another kienzan was coming at him from another direction. Knowing he would never be able to reach that one in time Gohan focused, letting out an aura of violet ki that surrounded him. This was a special move that allowed him to absorb his foe’s energy. The disc of ki flew straight into his aura and dissipated, its energy breaking up into small drops that added themselves to the pink aura. Like some sort of chemical reaction the ki and the special aura combined together, the former igniting the latter and causing a veil of flame to burst around Gohan. This fire was harmless to none but him, effectively shielding him from physical attacks. Gohan finished up by reaching out with his Telekinesis, taking hold of a nearby metal crate and tossing it towards Cold. It seemed he wasn’t able to pick things up as fast, either, but they still moved with decent force. The shriek of metal under stress echoed through the small cargo hold as the buzz saw of deadly qi energy tore through it like a hot knife through butter. Were he not used to the screaming of the wind on the planet Frieza, Cold might have needed to shield his ears from the noise. As it was, the pressure upon his ears called into focus the lingering distress that his inner ear was under following his escape from the would-be ice prison. He wondered briefly if the human was having the same problems, but couldn’t tell because he had been faster than the whelp for the entire fight thus far. Employing the same technique again as he had before, the human used what the serpentine warrior assumed based on experience was telekinetic powers to throw a conveniently placed metal crate at him. The former king spun and was about to deflect the crate to the side, but underestimated how much his inner ear problems were affecting his movement. He took the full force of the blow to his well-conditioned shoulder, knowing as it happened that the impact point would definitely hurt in the morning. Though he was undoubtedly still plagued by the persistent inner ear problems, the King of Cruel went on the attack. Like a gentle summer breeze instead of with the force of a tornado, Cold rushed at the boy, drawing the power pole as he did so. Once it was out, the weapon twirled like a windmill, blurring into disc shape as it went faster and faster. Winds were buffeting the area as the weapon spun in the former King’s hand and moved ever closer to the human. When he was convinced that the boy was intimidated enough, Cold struck out twice with the weapon; once at the face and once at the gut of his opponent. As quickly as it had come, the weapon was gone and Cold was striking out with a quick one-two combo at the human’s chin before drawing his weapon and attempting to thrust it through the human’s heart in one smooth action. Somehow, despite being slowed down Cold was still able to manoeuvre his fingers fast enough that he could make his stick rotate until it became a circle of painted wood. Too busy studying this mysterious ability to bother defending himself, Gohan was rewarded to a smack to the face and one to the gut. This was shortly followed by two jabs and a lunge of the changeling’s sword, apparently attempting to pierce straight through the half saiyan’s heart. Once again the weapon clashed off Gohan’s armour, not strong enough to pierce it, though it left a nice little mark. The Half Saiyan rolled backwards – which actually looked cooler in slow-motion – to avoid getting struck by another heart piercing attack. He ended up against the metal wall of the ship, surrounded by the various items he had noticed before. “Heart shot?” The boy asked, panting. In his slowed down state it was hard even to move at slow speed. “Who even does that? And what’s with the two weapons? I mean, I get that everybody around here likes swords, but why do you need a stick as well?” With a raise of his arms he followed up his questions by choosing three metal crates at random and picking them all up, tossing them forward one at a time towards Cold’s chest. The more distance he could create the better, and hopefully the force from these would send his foe into the opposite wall. From there he could throw some more shit, or maybe start using his energy again. In a dysfunctional sort of way, old King Cold was amused by the antics of the adolescent human as he complained about the use of weapons in a fight to the death. Said antics were made to appear even more ridiculous with the advent of yet more telekinetically thrown pieces of equipment and debris. It seemed that there was a limitless supply of random detritus that the human could use as a weapon, but Cold was rapidly growing tired of it. His inner ear continued to plague him with sluggishness and the expenditure of a great deal of energy moments previously was causing a substantial amount of discomfort. But that wasn’t anywhere near as bothersome as being slammed into a wall by the three crates of what he had to assume was bricks or some other equally heavy objects. Still tired of the boy’s lack of creativity or ingenuity in his attacks, the King of Cruel decided to up the ante somewhat. From his position upon the ground, he moved considerably faster than he had for much of the fight, blurring into nothingness as he crossed the cargo hold in a minute amount of time. As the former king neared his foe, the roar of a dragon could be heard echoing through the cargo hold. The noise itself was so loud that the human’s assortment of random pieces of garbage rattled against the metal floor and wall. At the culmination of the dragon-like attack, Cold aimed to fly straight through the stomach of his hapless human foe. Giving no quarter, the serpentine warrior continued the deadly dance by drawing his blade once more in order to go on the attack in a physical way. Miraculously, the inner ear problems appeared to have been solved by his headlong charge at the human and so he pursued his attack with renewed vigour. The first of his twin sword strikes drove as straight as an arrow towards the human’s throat. Since the boy had been so indignant about the heart strike, Cold thought he should kill the kid in a way that was more in line with his wishes. As soon as this attack was completed, the former king stepped to the side in order to aim a slash at his foe’s Achilles tendon. With any luck, a couple more well-placed strikes would have the whelp flopping around on the floor like a marionette with its strings cut. He kept close to the boy, keen to engage him in close quarters combat now that the inner ear issues seemed to have sorted themselves out. Word Count: 431
