"Cometh the hour", a common phrase from the Paladins. Judges of evil and wrong-doings. One could easily say that they thought highly of themselves. However, as of late, some stood out against certain...policies. The Tiste Andii in human form was not really a Paladin in the sense that he was committing a criminal act for the Paladins, that is, he lied about who he was. Even now, he had adopted a certain persona away from the Rei that was a Tiste Andii in body. His body took him to outside of the citadel. There was a man that he had sent for, using old Paladin channels. The Soultaken was not really sure if he would come.

But there was one thing that he needed to do. That was ignite the passion in the Paladins to do more than just be judges. He wanted the Paladins, even if they did not consider themselves to be such, to be a force to counter the Tiste Andii and the other empires. For that, he needed allies. This older channel was from before Avalon had attacked during the latest war. "Hiragi-kun," muttered the Soultaken, "I wonder if he'll actually show up." It was really something of a wonder if he showed up. In all honesty, a stranger calling you out on an old channel...

Still, he wanted the man to know that he was serious. His power spiked to a true amount of power as he allowed the plains around him to feel the pressure of it. Sand blew around him in a cone for a moment before it settled around him, a barren area that might even see some Hellhounds if they got too serious. The Tiste Andii pushed himself up as he narrowed his dark gray eyes ahead; he wore nothing that looked like real armor.

A white overcoat swirled around him, and under that was a dark gray shirt. White pants, finger-less white gloves, and dark gray boots finished off the look. The design on the coat was white and red, with red crosses on his cuffs and at the tips of the coat. However, on the back of the coat, who demonic bat-like wings spread out, covering a decent patch. That was, truly, the only contrasting part to the look; and it was a sign of his Tiste Andii clan.

He picked up a rock as he noticed a signature approch; he had chosen this place due to it's population being so low that anyone headed towards him would have to be, in most cases, the one he had called out. Rei turned towards it and shouted, "Catch!" He threw the rock as hard as he could. The Soultaken wanted to see if the new arrival could react in time to the sudden toss.

Valhalla...

He’d been tested. Junior’s power clashed with that of a Super Saiyan’s and somehow he had managed to snag victory. Returning the young thief Verte to his village, the boy returned to his true mission; finding Daisuke. The teen’s energy signal was not traceable at the moment. Strange. Daisuke’s presence had been felt earlier before his interruption. Junior’s focus intensified, his mind with a clear picture of his apprentice. But it was like he was hitting a wall just before making a connection. His eyes open now, Junior scowled. Something blocked his sense of Daisuke. Foul play present! Had he encountered a saiyan upon this land himself? Rescuing Daisuke would be far more difficult unless he could trace his whereabouts. He had to think of the last time he sensed him and the general area that could have been. The process of a detective mind.

Matte kudasai, Daisuke.

Junior’s reliable golden cloud guided him over the skies as he tried to focus on closing in on the location of Daisuke’s last felt presence. Somehow he was able to preserve this feeling in his mind. Perhaps it was from traces of the teen’s lingering energy that he left behind. Junior could feel him approaching the location steadily. Closer. Closer. Closer still. Even closer.

“Ungh!” Junior’s eyes widened and his body jerked a bit.

The image of Daisuke was crystal clear. He looked down and could see some ruins. Here! Junior could feel the cloud take a sharp turn and begin a descent toward the ground. Once close enough, Junior could allow himself to touch the dirt with his own two feet. He looked about the empty ruins. He put a hand to the sky and focused as he walked around. Daisuke. He could feel traces of Daisuke’s presence in the air. Junior had managed to demonstrate a supernatural connection to his apprentice and now used it alongside his Detective mind. There was a shockwave that knocked them apart during teleportation.

He remembered sensing the demon girl, Kasume, at that time. Her energy somehow knocked the boys apart. Had she done it intentionally? It didn’t add up if she did. Kasume had no knowledge of the two boys being here. Or did she have clairvoyance of some kind? If so she could be the one blocking his connection to Daisuke. His sense of urgency brewed, knowing he must get to Daisuke soon if Kasume was involved. But as he started off to act, he sensed her presence in the great distance, nowhere near this place. No sign of Daisuke! Then his theory was wrong. Someone else had gotten to Daisuke. A look around the ruins would be all that he needed. Daisuke had to be here. Junior’s search began; or so he thought.

After a few steps, he was forced to stop short. There was a gleaming light from his pocket. Junior almost assumed the Gem of Telepathy. It was notorious for its unpredictable behavior. But there was a sense of something ancient and pure that ran through him as it happened. He reached into his pocket and pulled out some sort of ring. It must have been some time since he laid eyes on it. He did not recognize it initially. The signet upon it was glowing.

“Nanda kore wa...?” he uttered.

As he stared into the light, a voice echoed, "Cometh the hour!" Almost as if in a trance, Junior placed the ring on his finger. The moment it rested comfortably there, the light intensified, the energy now preventing his movements. The boy’s voice began to elevate as the energy surged through him. Taken up in the light, a beam projected itself straight up; Junior himself letting out a bit of a wail as he felt himself being carried off. The light entered some kind of dimension hole before vanishing without a trace. Junior could do nothing but wonder where this would take him and worry more about Daisuke’s safety. The light carrying him exited through yet another dimension hole, curving upward into the air before circling back down to the ground where it crashed and materialized the detective in some new unfamiliar place.

“Eh! Eh! Ehhh?!” Junior shrieked as he moved himself in a bit of spin checking to see if he was all in one piece.

But it was hardly over from that. As soon as his mind could form thoughts, his instincts kicked mind giving him a faint image of something plummeting in his direction. He sprang up and did a tumble before straightening his body out. To his surprise, his feet touched down on something. But it didn’t appear to be sitting still, so the boy sprang again, body tumbling in the air again. He heard the sound of something hitting the ground with a loud crash as he did. He landed upon the dirt again, getting his senses straight shortly after he stood up tall. Wanting to find his opponent before he had a chance to, the boy settled his nerves. The sudden forced teleportation had disorientated him. On top of that, the signet on his ring seemed to be pulsating. Junior looked down at the ring. Resonation! It was reacting to something.

As he turned once more, something became someone instead. Finally he saw it; an unknown figure standing across from him. He felt the same ancient force run through his body as the ring continued to resonate and glow.

“Omae...” Junior uttered.

The dots connected. The unknown figure was the cause of this. As he peered down at the glowing signet, he remembered the old paladin he rescued. He had gotten this signet from him. He’d never seen glow like this. Was it calling him to action? Either way, this unknown stood between him and rescuing Daisuke. His mind was already running away with the kind of danger Daisuke could be in. Staring at his unknown target, he could feel a great deal of power pulsing through him. Junior knew his current state would not be enough to take this on. He seemed to understand what the signet was urging him to do.

Wakatta zo!

The boy took one look at his adversary.

“Iidaro! Ore no chikara misete yaru!”

Sliding his feet apart comfortably, Junior let his body relax. In his mind he had Daisuke standing there looking at him. Junior knew he was waiting. As he focused his body gave off a dense glow.

Daisuke-kun, ore wa kono otoko o hayaku taosu shite! Sou shite tasuke ni kite!

“Saa ike DORAGON CHI!!”

There was a warmth appearing in the depths of his heart, a dragon symbol appearing on the on the back of his vest. Then that same warmth traveled throughout his body and he became shrouded in light. It was much like his usual power changes only this one came from a much deeper level. The power surged majestically, the light radiating with silver sparkles. The transformation took place without unleashing destructive force upon the surroundings. There was the sound of clapping thunder as a black orb within the light appeared where Junior’s body sat encased curled up with his arms crossed in front of him. The energy surging around him changed his clothing, black shoes, brown pants, white shirt, brown vest gold outlining the edges, brown gloves, and a glowing red headband. Then the light seemed to be absorbed into Junior himself.

He threw himself back into standing position, body radiating with a silver aura. Focusing still, the boy churned his silver energy around his body until it wrapped him like a cocoon. Then it flickered and began projecting rays of light in every direction before an exploding glare took place. There was an astute humming sound. Junior appeared within the light as a shadow. There seemed to be a projection of angel wings at his back as the light was dimming. But when it vanished it was simply Junior glowing.

“Saa hajime yo!” he spoke with a low growl. “UNGH!” The boy thrust his hand forward, eyes glowing.

A chunk of the ground was forced up in an instant and hurled at his adversary. Sure of himself the man would have a ready tactic for this attack, the boy raced ahead, arms flailing back as his feet beat the dirt with his footsteps. With strife, the boy charged at his foe from the left side. Relying on his momentum and some exceptional balance, the boy placed himself in handstand, legs going into a perfectly split. He pivoted on the heel of his palm seeking to force the heel of his right leg into the opponent’s backside; heavily counting on the man to either move or block the incoming piece of the ground. Completing the turn and getting back to his feet, the boy threw himself wildly into a set of back hand springs, taking up the stance of the tiger as adrenaline began to rush through the heat of his veins.

The summons came in way of portal, and an older method than he had thought. His eyes turned to the man as he arrived, and the rock was dodged away from. He was slightly annoyed as the Soultaken had called out for the other human to catch it, not dodge it. Still, he found that he liked that look in Junior Hiragi's eyes; it would give him more strength. As Rei crouched slightly, a chunk of rock was suddenly up-heaved and sent to crush him. The plated overcoat spread as his power howled around him as he flared through the air and jumped back from it- only to be kicked forward. Rei howled in defiance as he spun in the air and twisted upside down to face Junior.

He used the ground that had been tossed at him as it stayed upright- it shattered from the force that had pushed against it as Rei's hands flew out like heavenly hydra heads. The first was three swift attacks, aimed to strike at Junior's face. Then, three quick, yet powerful strikes aimed at Junior's chest flowed out as he growled, "Ryu Kan Sen!" While Rei was not always this kind of fighter, he figured that he would enjoy himself a little more.

After the twin triple attacks, his body landed as he moved forward as he attempted to enter into Junior's space, enough to move him off-kilter. His arms moved even faster than before as they would have blinded a lesser fighter as nine fists were sent to all corners of Junior's body as the leather gloved hands would have felt much more like metal; all of his cloths, in fact, were plated between the material. It was a custom armor set up by the Paladins, just for him. And the Soultaken was pleased.

His actions were then repeated as he moved to keep Junior one his toes, the angels changed to be less linear and more unpredictable as his fists lashed out as vipers, swift as lightning. It was then that the Soultaken spoke, as he jumped back and placed his arms in front of his body, the left arm in front of the light arm, his legs spread and crouched. The blade at his back had yet to be touched, and he was sure that others at his level were more like Kularian, and knew how to counter a sword.

"Junior Hiragi-kun, I am Rei. Paladin from Earth." He stayed in that poster as energy built up in his stomach, "I have summoned you here, to Toffit, to test you. To restore your vows as a Paladin. 'Cometh the Hour'. Now is the hour, not for judgement, but for this combat test." That he had transformed meant something, it meant that Junior was ready for a fight at any time, but that he had resorted to it, that was far more telling of Junior's personality. He was an ally to his friends, and a protector of the weak. In essence, he was much as a human's idea of a Paladin. But he did not judge, he guessed, on every planet. As was the detective's duty; not that he knew Junior's profession.

And after this assumption, the Paladin withdrew the sword in one twin swipe; yet this was not ordinary draw of the blade, it was a test of Junior's reaction time. The blade was withdrawn at a diagonal angle from Rei's back as he launched himself at Junior in a blur of motion. Twin slashes were blade, at the same angle that he had withdrawn the blade from, in the form of a cross. As Rei landed, the blade was slid back to the scabbard on his back, his dark gray orbs focused on Junior.

Junior felt the satisfying impact of a goal scoring kick against his opponent’s body before he regained his balanced posture. It was natural of him to believe he’d have a moment to breath. But his instincts had him not get comfortable with that kind of thought. As the first hit of the battle, the boy hardly found it surprising to see his opponent rebound quickly and resume offense. Junior sprinted off in the heat of adrenaline, racing eye to eye right for his opponent. An echo of their howls of rage resulted as they blitzed each other. The wheels of Junior’s mind churned, trying to channel Junior’s intention of getting to Daisuke quickly into absolute battle focus and tactics; tactics bent on securing the win quickly so the rescue could be made.

Junior’s right fist slid across the air, his knuckles feeling the sharp but lightning quick impact against what he could only identify as his opponent’s fist. His left fist snapped forward. Crack! He felt the same again. Both impacts had such force behind them that they generated flashes of light and two swift shock waves that snapped at the ground, leaving shallow cracks in their wake. But the opponent had one more quick strike left in him and went for it. The keen detective eye allowed him to piece the opponent’s posture and arm positions together quickly. The deductive conclusion; one shot at the face. Junior shot his left arm across in such a way that he rotate it up and back to deflect the shot and position the striking arm. In this way, he left the opponent’s flank exposed and head exposed.

Expecting added protection on the body, Junior allowed his clawed right hand to comfortably hook around for his opponent’s face cheek while his feet skipped over. Essentially he jumped right after the attempted counter swing. He threw his upper body back and began the back hand springs all over again for distance. This time however, he was given the heat of pursuit by his opponent. The test of speed was on. All the while Junior’s world was tumbling around and around from his show of speedy back flips, he had the comfort of knowing his adversary wasn’t skipping a beat to follow him. Junior clenched his teeth and continued the flips.

Hayai ne! Daga…

Junior sprang high on the next back flip. He landed then he jumped into his foe’s approach, snapping his right knee forward, feeling the shock of the blow be buffered by his own knee cap. He rotated his body and rightward so the left knee would snap up and do the same and buffer the second in such a way, that his opponent should have had to recover from the opposing force to continue forward. That gave Junior maybe another eye blink of time while his right foot slid back slightly. He used both of his hands to catch the final strike and force him back. That put his adversary in prime position…to retaliate. The man increased his swiftness thirty-fold. In a state of surprise, the boy’s body felt the sharp pitter-patter of strikes against his body, each one pushing a bit more air out of him than the last.

In his current mind set, he couldn’t even trace where the strikes were coming from. He simply hung at their mercy until finally he peaked his tolerance and sprang backwards hoping for breathing room as his hand reached for his pocket. Junior was poised to move again, a look of frustration upon his face. But his opponent seemed to cease his movements for the moment. His stance was dangerous. So the guard could not afford to be dropped. Junior held his hands low and ready.

"Junior Hiragi-kun, I am Rei. Paladin from Earth."

Junior looked like he’d received shocking news.

“Kare wa ore no namae o shitte iru!?”

"I have summoned you here, to Toffit, to test you. To restore your vows as a Paladin. 'Cometh the Hour'. Now is the hour, not for judgement, but for this combat test."

Cometh the hour! It was repeated again. That was the same voice that called out to him when the ring started glowing and now it was doing it again, this time a dim glow, hardly piercing to the eyes. He saw it and realized this Rei was who brought him here.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about! But I know this; my friend needs my help!” He clenched his fist in front of his chest, “I have to find him quickly! Now is not the time for tests!!!

He’d hoped the sense of urgency in his voice would push Junior’s point. But when did talk ever actually sway someone bent on fighting him? Junior knew of the paladins from Avalon. His mind flashed back.

Quote:

2 Hours later, the group had returned to the ship. Ury was in a rejuvenation chamber getting a proper recovery. Junior had given Maris a sensu bean to recover his lost energy.

"Ury was barely hanging on to life when I found him. It's going to be a while before he recovers completely."

Maris gave a nod.

"I'm just thankful he didn't die."

Junior nodded.

"I peered into his memories a little bit. It seems you're not the only one he rescued with Faerie Dust. Several others escaped as well. You all would do best to regroup as soon as Ury is fully recovered."

Maris seemed understanding of Junior's recommendations. But then he was confused again.

"What will you do from here, Junior?"

Junior turned to a window. Images of his friends and family returned to his mind. A lot had happened. But they hadn't been forgotten in the least.

"Who knows. Maybe someday I can go home."

"Do you have others waiting for you as well?"

Junior continuously stared out the window. There was a homesick look in his eyes as he got an image of his father, Lex, Sulley and Shaira all together in a group. He didn't answer Maris. Simply decided to walk off and leave his presence. The young paladin stared at him, understanding completely what was meant by that.  Suddenly, the young one gave chase and called to him.

“Junior!”

He stopped and looked back.  Maris was staring at him.  He had his hand out.  At the center of his hand was a ring with a strange signet on it.

“Kore wa…” Junior uttered.

“Signet of the Paladin.  I’m sure it belongs with you.  We’d been hoping for help to save Ury for some time now, and a fortune teller told us of an up and coming.  Then you showed up.  I’m sure this ring is meant to be yours.”

Junior took it and looked.  It appeared to be an ordinary ring.

“It’s just an ordinary ring with a symbol on it now.  But you may encounter someone of importance and this ring will be the key.”

Junior simply nodded and placed the ring in his pocket.

Sou desu ka. Wakatta zo! Subete o wakatta.

Junior’s eyes caught sight of Rei’s motions, making him aware of a weapon he most detested; a sword. The next attack would come from that sword. Junior unveiled his palm, thumb pressing down on something at that moment. A capsule! As the paladin moved, Junior knew he’d feel the wrath of the blade if he didn’t act quickly. Junior raised his hand up with the capsule pressed against his palm with the thumb.

“Saseru ka! C.C. SHIRUDO HATSUDOU!”

A rotating light appeared as his palm. The light then shrouded him just before the blade before the blade came down on him. The protective barrier stood firm and left him unharmed but the force of impact forced his feet back a bit. Junior now got the chance to stare at his adversary. His charged aura ignited just then and he gave a look of determined fire.

“Iidaro! Omae o taosu to shite iru!”

Junior fired his right fist at the paladin’s chin with a roar of battle rage hoping to sky-bound him. With a jump back, his eyes focused on the dirt in hopes of pulling it up. As he focused on it he visualized the attack he visualized the actual attack before producing it with his very will a thick stream of rock and dirt spewing from the ground. He’d seen it done by the demon girl through means of magic. He made it possible through means of telekinetic power. His right hand was projected as he followed his opponent’s ki signature in order to guide the attack properly at him.

"..." Rei narrowed his eyes at Junior's words and snapped, "You are a Paladin! The mere fact that you have not thought of this, nor remembered the terms, tell me you no longer wish to be one." The gray orbs focused as Junior attacked, his arms rose up in and X to cover himself as the attack came and slammed into that barrier. Junior certainly was strong, but he relied on the transformation. That, in essence, made him a bit weaker to Rei as he pulled the arms away from his chest. "So be it, Hiragi-kun." While he was not permitted to take the signet away, he could still be the judgement.

Debree was flung his way, but he did not move, not all that much. A capsule was slammed onto the ground and he pulled out a shield that shined like the morning sun in reflection. He slammed the shield's bottom end to the ground and hunched behind it. While most of the attack was rebounded from the shield, some still struck the outter parts of his body. But now this human had messed with the wrong Paladin.

He slowly stood as something like a needle was pulled from a capsule hidden behind the shield as he punctured his arm as he had pulled the sleeve back. Adrenaline pumped through his veins as he grunted, "You put your own wants over your duty. I find that as an insult. Your duty is to judge those of evil." His body seemed to wobble before it shot straight at Junior as he slammed his head forward swiftly, thrice at the forehead of his opponent. With each strike, he growled in anger, though it was mostly false.

And then he jumped back as he rose his arm. Ki crackled and lightning seemed to flow into his palm as he roared, "This blade was given to me to Gnar as proof of my dedication! You must choose your path, Hiragi-kun." His eyes narrowed and gave Junior a look; a look that locked toward his soul. The lightning started to form, as he spoke, as that of a giant blade. Basic, yet it was just as the blade that Paladins used. As he finished, the blade was hurled forward, like a bolt of the gods. He wondered, how would Junior react? He could only smile as he was doing what he needed; push this one.

Rei spoke of the terms of conduct by mere mention. He seemed angered at Junior’s resolve to stick to his goal of finding Daisuke. Had this man known of Junior’s past experiences he might understand. But since Rei had already decided Junior’s way would only be made through him, Junior had to accept this and do what he must. Junior found a bit of happiness in all this somehow. Months ago, Junior wallowed in doubt and fear. Had this man confronted him sooner his resolve would be not be nearly as strong. Even with this feeling, Junior had not so much as cracked a smirk.

"You put your own wants over your duty. I find that as an insult. Your duty is to judge those of evil."

Rei shot off and Junior shuffled his feet in such a way he moved backwards with a trail of dust kicking up. Rather than push back at full speed, since he was unsure of what all was behind him, Junior paced himself. He did so in such a way that his speed or lack thereof allowed the paladin to catch up. The man used his head as a means to attack. With each thrust, Junior’s head weaved side to side, his ears catching the sound of the foe’s breathing as their hair barely brushed together.

“I accepted a duty to protect!”

Junior’s feet stopped shuffling when Rei jumped away from him. Junior jumped back as well and his feet landed upon something elevated. A boulder! Junior was surprised. He’d have run right into it had he kept going. In some ways, Rei jumping back was a blessing. But as the man stood tall with his arm raised, Junior could sense the rising of Rei’s energy. He looked on at the crackling electricity dancing around his arm all the way up to his palm. The first spirit energy attack was about to be thrown. And now Junior was noticing a bit of a strain on his own ki somehow. Subtle but it was there.

"This blade was given to me to Gnar as proof of my dedication! You must choose your path, Hiiragi-kun."

Junior started to try and figure out what the energy would be capable of doing. He had hoped to predict it before it was ready. But it seemed the energy was gathered before he knew it. Junior mouth hung open as he stared at a sword of electrical energy. Junior was developing a natural fear of swords of all kinds and this only added to it. Junior heard a roar of thunder as the blade was hurled in his direction. The fear of the blade coming in contact with him pushed him to be sure it didn’t Junior clenched his fists, his aura had traces of purple bleeding into it, signs that something indeed was pulling him for more effort. His efforts would stand tall. Forcefully, the boy thrust his hands out, his power flaring. Deep straining focus! The electrical blade hurried itself over and now Junior’s focus was so deep that a groan was starting to dig up through his throat into his projected vocals.

The electrical blade then made vicious impact, streams of lightning whipping about when it did. It would have easily been natural to assume Junior was the target of impact at first. But a closer look showed the boy standing firm, arms still out. The pitch of his groaning continued to rise as his body glow a neon red off and on. Junior’s muscles increasingly tensed. He could feel the opposing energy trying to push against his efforts and tear through with its original intensions of harm. But he would not allow it. Junior could feel his feet slide slightly. When he felt this push his eyes opened. They opened wide. Then the twig snapped! He practically heard it in his ears before he clenched his teeth. He tightened the muscles in his body even further and shut his eyes.

Suddenly his vocals continued but this time not a slow gradual rising pitch. This one came from deep within the belly and forced out. Junior let out a roar that could have maybe shaken the heavens if he had such an ability. He pushed forth his utmost concentration and now willed the lightning to dance around him. The energy seemed to be drawing itself into Junior wrapping him in a blanket of light. Then he beaconed brightly as if becoming the source itself. Then suddenly there was red; a burning red that presented itself and soon revealed Junior to appear as if inside a burning candle flame. The boy stood firm in his burning flame of an aura, staring ahead with his hair wafting up and down and his vest fluttering.

“I’ve chosen my path! I am the result of a prophecy! I am and always will be the one who carries the light of hope! Reaching out to those both good and evil offering a chance for the better! Strengthened by family, friends and comrades alike…”

One by one they raced through his mind; the people closest to him from his father, Lex, Shaira and Jared. Continuing on from Gosai, Kento, Daisuke and countless others! He could see them all in a group even if it was just an illusion offering their encouragement to him. Then once more he saw Maris, the one who gave him the signet in the first place. Clenching his fist in front of his chest, the signet shined as if though agreeing with Junior’s resolve.

“…and endorse under the very signet gifted to me by the Paladin along with his wishes. I am…Hiiragi Junior!

He took his stance once more, body burning with new will. But he still felt the subtle strain on his body. He wasn’t sure what this foreign feeling was but was sure that Rei was responsible. Projecting too much effort would wind him. But he had a way. Tightening his face expression and focus with aggression, the boy lifted himself and seemed to disappear with half of a blink. The wind was forced to move as tore past , seeking to close the distance nearly instantaneously. Then the boy let his fists fly. Lightning quick jab after jab was thrown at different spots on the paladin’s upper body. He cared not what sort of protection might buffer his blows if they reached. It would be enough if they reached. Junior then did something of a fierce triple uppercut attempt.

With each shoryuken style uppercut he lashed, Junior made sure to keep his jumps to a max of a foot each time. This made it so he could release, land and release over with very little reaction time. The uppercuts were thrown in hopes the fist would drag itself upward on his opponent’s body and connect with the chin somehow. On the third landing, Junior threw himself into a wild tornado spin, continuing to focus his aggressive strikes to slash across his opponent’s body instead of sending him sailing. Then with his furious momentum taking him, Junior sprang off the ground trying to soar over Rei’s head and stop his tornado spin as he landed. The flames around his body flickered with rage. Junior forced himself forward with his fist light up with ki energy. He fired it at his opponent in hopes of crashing the ki punch against him.

It seemed that the boy was influenced. Just as Rei had hoped, the lightning blade had been the point to return to Junior what he had lost. What logs the Paladin Order had kept of Junior was that, while a strong individual, he had lost his way. Or so, it had been said. Rei needed to strengthen Hiragi Junior's resolve and thus this battle. He was not even sure if he would survive this, with all the power that Junior might have. Yet, he listened to Junior. Cliche speech aside, it seemed that he had done was was needed, but there was nothing against the finish of this fight.

His muscles tensed and grew taunt as he narrowed the gray eyes, narrowed them in a way that spoke of challenge, spoke of victory, even in jaws of defeat. Hiragi Junior was back, and even if it was not going to work out the way that he planned, then at least the boy had regained something he'd certainly lost. The lightning blade had been Transmuted, some kind of defense he'd seen, but never learned to use himself. Still, he enjoyed the show of brillence as he spoke as Junior came at him.

"It's good to see the energy return to you," even as Junior closed in, Rei turned his attentions onto full defense. The first barrage, even the second, struck the Paladin as he barely rose his arms. The rain forced a crater below him, yet it seemed his eyes and face spoke of victory. How could this be? Simple: to Junior, he had impressed his will. And once the punches halted, for that instant, he spoke one work, "Hajimemashte Hiragi-kun."

Then upper cuts slammed home thrice, each one damaging, but his natural toughness, in combination with the armor that he wore, lessened every blow. A tooth loosened its self in his mouth as the triple punches came to an end, but he was not finished. No, far from it. He turned his gaze to the kicks as he spat a tooth out to the side that had dislodged its self from the root. Now it was time to get serious as blood streaked down his lips, "Sa, ikuzou, Hiragi-kun!"

The first leg was rushed by Rei, within a crouch, and grabbed that leg. His rush continued forward as he held the leg over his shoulder. He rushed for a few feet before he jumped and rolled in the air as he threw his opponent so that their back would create its own crater. But Junior's intensity was not finished! A punch with ki flew at him, but Rei would not be surprised. He smirked as he leg go of the human and threw his own punch as he roared, his own fist lite with ki. A mastered punch of ki.

Smoke flared from the punches as he attempted to neutralize Hiragi's own. His body seemed to wobble again, but he used that to jump back, gain some ground between them. His stance changed then as it mimiced a wolf, baring its fangs at Junior. Power boost or no, Rei was in control psychologically. Or so this state of mind of Junior's seemed to portray. And so he closed the gap once more! The fangs of the wolf closed in on their prey. Thrice throat punches were thrown at Junior, lightning fast. Just as a predator attacks it's prey.

Yet, even then, he was not finished. It was as though he had embraced the wolf! As though his soul was linked to a wolf as he went straight for Junior's rib cage after the throat thrusts. This time, his right hand moved, as though to tear open Junior's stomach, to get at the organs as the alpha wolf. Rei was still Soultaken, and in that memory of the soul, the wolf remained, and it had hungered. But even after the gore attempt, his fist flew, quick as an egale that moved to catch prey, to punch Junior's jaw.

And even after the technique ended, the wolf side seemed to remain. Not finished with its prey, after those attempted blows, he could still feel doubt. Rei's gray eyes narrowed as he wished that he had a transformation. He would have shown Junior the difference between the two of them in raw speed and strength, but that was hardly the point of this. After his long silence, he attempted to grab Junior's head and throw a lightning kick snap kick at his stomach, "You hesitate? You have lost your way much further than I believed."

He finished the brutal assault with the blade as he stepped forward with the blade held by both hands before he rushed forward in a disjointed pattern before he went straight at the attack positions on the humanoid body, and struck at all seven; neck, chest, both arms, both legs, heart. The slashes were preciese and mastered. He was truly one step away from being a true master, yet his use of the blade for five hundred years as a Tiste Andii could not be taken away. "Junior, you are the one human that I can fight on even grounds. Now, it's time. Show me who Hiragi Junior is!"

As Junior pushed on, he could sense it in his heart that there was still more he could do. It was a second process in his mind altogether. It seemed to be a session of Q&A; questions like “Is this the best you can do?” and answers like “what if I can’t go further!”. He knew that getting to Daisuke was important. How could he fight at this pace seriously? This lack of push resulted in his opponent being able to counter one of his furious blows, placing him into the ground before he could even launch his ki charged punch. But this came in conjunction with the heat of his energy snapping out at Rei; the Flame Shield technique fluttering around his body. Further still, he had the reaction time to defend it. As the man threw his own punch, the two fists collided. A chain reaction of energy was spurred and light projected in all directions just before he felt himself forced back by the force created by the clash.

Kono yo ni, ore wa...

Junior could feel his brows twitching as he frustration tried to bury him. But the opponent came moving at him like a bolt of lightning. Junior could see him coming surely enough, but his body felt heavy, as if not desiring to move as Junior wanted. So as the first set of blows came in, Junior felt them. Harsh and unforgiving as they battered against him. But there was a sharp heat around Junior that was also unforgiving. It lashed out on Rei as he came in contact with Junior. Having felt the sting of first barrage of blows, Junior made it a mission to prevent further pain. With a sharp whirl, Junior rolled to the left, feeling the wind behind an attempted strike thrown at him. Then he sprang up into an aerial tumble to avoid the follow up. His landing seemed off center and he stumbled a little.

Was his body this determined to underperform? Junior didn’t have time to feel them but his fists were trembling slightly as Junior laid eyes on the paladin’s sheathed blade before turning around to face him again. Junior took several steps back, feeling his confidence loosen up. In his mind he could see bits and pieces of his near death encounter with that unknown member of the Execution Force. He remembered the ruthlessness of his sword attacks, and that strange green creature that seemed to pose as distraction to keep him unable to fight back properly. It was a strong negative feeling to be able to shake apart the focus of a detective mind. It tried to convince him there was no chance and that he had no will to continue. Remnants of who he was several months ago still fighting to dominate...

In that moment, Rei was able to take Junior by the head; an action that snapped Junior out of his mental paralysis. Because he was able to snap his hands out and catch the leg. But his arms trembled as he attempted to hold it back. His eyes met with Rei’s. Junior could see no hesitation in the eyes of his opponent at all. And that moment of eye lock was enough for Rei to make out a revelation.

“You hesitate? You have lost your way much further than I believed!”

Junior could feel a sinking sensation when he heard those words. The paladin had him read. If it continued like this, then all those people he thought of earlier were sending their feelings to him in vain. As that reached his mind it stirred up his anger. Being angry enough at him self seemed to spur his urgency once more. His eyes had a spark. Junior’s brows sunk and the paladin’s onslaught continued. He drew his blade and began to furiously swing at Junior’s body. Sounds of slicing followed each strike, one after the other until he was finished. Then Rei could get a look at Junior if he wanted and. There were slits placed where his sword had landed. But after a few moments of silents, the slits showed signs of distortion. The rest of Junior’s body soon showed the same and began to fizzle out.

Junior placed in his position an after image. He could only imagine the paladin would be surprised by such an outcome. Then Junior’s voice reached out to him from a distance of 6 feet to his blind side.

“Doko ni mite iru?”

Junior stood with his hands at his sides, facing Rei at an angle. Junior looked serious. His mind was flashing back to several periods of his youth. It was another part of his mind trying to remind him of what he’s accomplished. As the hero Gokou Jr, he’d accomplished several different feats of heroism and courage. He’d encouraged many hearts. And some time ago with the efforts of Gosai, he returned peace to an entire planet of people. Meanwhile the Paladin had spoken to him again.

"Junior, you are the one human that I can fight on even grounds. Now, it's time. Show me who Hiragi Junior is!"

Wasure rarenai! Sore wa wasure rarenai!

“Ore wa wasurenai de yo!”

Junior took his crouched position. “Mou ichi da! Ore no chikara o misete yaru!”

Junior focused into himself, getting a sense of what he wanted to do from here. The boy tightened his fists and then he unleashed it by thrusting his right hand. Junior pushed a force of power out; an invisible force of energy and heat shot at twice the speed of his usual attacks. The boy hoped to shake his opponent’s guard. From there he burst off in a vicious sprint, his body moving as he wanted it; perhaps maybe even for more than this moment. As he rushed in, his body ignited a flame around it. Distance closing as his ears heard the whistling sound of something familiar, Junior unleashed his furious uppercut hoping to sky-bound Rei. Knowing what it was, Junior hopped up. He landed and could feel himself taking flight.

Junior’s glanced down and could see his golden Nimbus Cloud for a moment before focusing on following Rei. He sprang off the cloud hoping to get in front of Rei. The boy spun around with a sharp kick that was meant to catch the paladin and stop his forced rise. Then quickly before gravity attempted to punish him for his defiance, the boy lashed the back of his left hand down in hopes of launching the Paladin back down. After that he felt it. He could no longer resist gravity and began to descend. It was a short descent however as the Nimbus Cloud placed itself under his feet. One circle around and Junior began a steady descent toward the ground. His last momentary action was the consumption of an vial of liquid; marked energizer into his system, feeling he’d need it for the next round of combat.

It seemed that Junior had indeed gained more confidence, but Rei was not one to allow such actions without punishment. Junior was still not where he needed him, not fully. A feral look came from Rei as he pulled his full body into a defense stance as Junior shot a hand out, crouched and hands over his body in an X- it was not the attack that he thought it would be, however, as a heat wave flared and struck him. Or, so it may have seemed. Rei recognized that it was not what it should be and changed the block to a more solid stance. He was pushed back, but not far.

Then he knew some pain. A blow struck his chin and sent him towards the sky, enough that he was forced to attempt Bukujutsu to stop himself in the mid-flight, but that would not be enough, no, the other human followed it up with a lesser, but speeder, attack. He grunted with this as the plated armor helped to reduce the damage, but there was still some pain. Before he could react, or draw upon his defenses, he was backhanded to the ground, where the armor and his body again, assisted in the reduction of damage. And yet, still, his annoyance flared. That Junior had such a combination on him...

“Asobi mou owarida, Hiragi-kun.” Playtime is over. From a pouch hidden by the overcoat in the back, he retrieved what must have been a strange item for Junior. Dark gray eyes fixed on the Paladin as he popped open a soda can- just not any soda can, however. It looked like one of those foul energy drinks that the people of Earth drank- yet, this was but a rouse. He drank deep for a moment before the can was crushed within his hand. He felt refreshed and now, he was even tougher. Most, if not all the damage that Junior had managed to inflict, all the annoyances, were now swept away.

He unclasped the belt around his chest that held the sword and let it fall as he pulled the jacket off as well. While it was plated, it was also now torn apart from their various exchanges, and parts had been burns from that earlier attack that he had blocked. He then grabbed the clasp and placed it along what Junior could now hear as part of Rei's secret; the leather made the metal plates within his shirt ring out. His shirt, his pants, his jacket, his gloves, even his shoes, all had diamond shaped plates, created to be efficient in deflecting damage and free movement for the wearer.

And now the Soultaken launched into attack; even Junior would have been unprepared, he believed, for such a turn around. Rei's ability to survive and endure was, and had always been, his greatest assets in battle. Blood dripped from his lip as he went to sweep his leg to trip up the human, and even as that seemed to happen, he kicked his other leg out to attempt and strike Junior with a quick clip to the face with his leg. His next attack was not nearly as kind, as the Paladin threw three lightning fast fists at Junior's neck, at a point where he could knock out the human he was testing. The final stretch, one could say. This would be Junior's final test.

And he showed that with the final attack as his hand moved like a dagger, tip sharp as one could with his own strength. He sent the hand in a sail for Junior's chest, for his heart as Rei spoke with little emotion now, “Hiragi Junior, let us end this little test. In the next exchange, I will test you fully.” The blade had merely been withdrawn at the end of combinations; now, he would fully test the human. After the strike at the heart, Rei's other hand flew out as he attempted to strike the human's nose with a lightning fast jab.

Junior had managed to gain enough time to place himself on the ground. He took a deep breath and turned his head to the left where his opponent seemed to be recovering from the last assault. That deep breath was enough for him to gather his mind. The boy’s brows sunk low as he watched Rei return to standing position.

“Asobi mou owarida, Hiiragi-kun.”

Junior turned his body to face the man, sliding his feet into a ready position. He had his hands up in front of his chest and the focus mind working.

“Kakkate koi…!” he uttered.

Junior’s eyes spotted the movement of the man’s hand as he went behind his overcoat. They narrowed as his frown broadened. When the man returned his hand to visibility he could see it holding some kind of container. Junior said nothing in reaction to this. His mind began working, noting what he just saw. Rei had just taken on damage. It was only natural he’d begin using supplements before engaging again. Junior paced his breathing when he saw Rei finish his drink. Any time now.

Saa junbi shite… he thought.

Suddenly the boy’s eyes flinched as the man took off into aggression. Junior did the unexpected in reaction; he turned and ran the other way. That would have looked like a cowardice move to anyone else but as the boy sprinted his eyes glistened with a will of steel. The boy locked onto his opponent’s ki signature, feeling it draw closer and closer. Junior didn’t look back. It would off his timing if he did. Junior’s mind purely focused on the approach of his opponent until…! It was like a sharp impulse through his brain. Similar to when Junior put the pieces of a mystery together. Junior did a hop and then relied purely on his leg muscles to spring off the ground backwards. While he did this he arched his back and threw his hands behind him; soaring over the paladin’s head as he went low for possibly a kick. Silently he waited for his hands to touch ground. Once they did, Junior forced himself to balance! Then he did a perfect split with his legs and whirled himself about on the heel of his right palm.

“KURAE!!!”

The upside-down spin kick seemed like the perfect counter against his opponent’s straight out attack and he committed to it in hopes of scoring a nice sharp blow. After he finished the spin, Junior relied on his hands pushing off the ground with the upward thrust of his legs to jump back to his feet. He landed in a crouch with his back turned to Rei at the moment. His head shifted right with the feel of his opponent trying to engage him. His feet weren’t positioned correctly enough for him to slide himself about. So, Junior tested the flexibility of his waist as he turned his upper body. His legs pushed up and he snapped his fists out in right-left order. His feet shuffled while he did it so he could face the opponent fully. What Junior had going with his fist snaps were attempted blocks as the opponent tried to quickly strike again. They were meant to meet his punches, knuckle to knuckle before Junior tried to jump back.

“Hiragi Junior, let us end this little test. In the next exchange, I will test you fully.”

He managed to get one step back before his opponent snapped at him again with knife hand. Junior turned his body left to get his back facing Rei, while his left hand came at the striking arm from the side to deflect the strike away. Junior fluidly stepped back into Rei, shifting his right elbow back in hopes of getting his chest then snapped the back fist up in combination to smack his face. Finally the boy did something a bit more heinous. His striking hand attempted to reach behind the overcoat. If Rei’s action before this assault was any indication, they should be here. Junior felt his hand grasp a small pouch and his brows sunk! That was it! The boy rushed forward and brought the pouch with him. Stopping a few feet, Junior revealed the pouch to himself, loosened the strings and…!

Sou datta!

Sensu beans! A pouch of sensu beans was snatched! Junior quickly placed them in his pocket, securing it so they wouldn’t fall out in the heat of combat. Then he turned around and prepared himself.

Ikusou! Ore no taan!

The boy’s hands started to glow profusely. He had a on a sly grin as this took place.

“Omae no purezento wo o tanoshimi kure!”

He closed his hands almost entirely except for the fore and middle fingers of both. Pressing them against the sides of his head, Junior flashed a grin before closing his eyes and letting out a strong high pitched howl, “TAIYOUKEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

There was a strong humming noise just before piercing light blanketed the field in whiteness. The blinding light as his cover, Junior knew he had only a moment to act. As if through a feat of magic, the boy produced a special kind of soccer ball; all the while churning energy to his leg. It was like the pressure to score the win at the final seconds of a tied soccer game. With a sharp swing of the leg, his foot met the ball. The energy in his leg transferred to it and the ball soared off at his opponent, all in the blanket of light that was finally starting to dim out. There was only one more thing heard before the light faded; an explosion as the soccer ball released the pent up energy inside of it in a shock wave.

So, this was Junior filly unleashed? Or was this Junior, still in a position that held him back? Rei growled as his offenses were either batted aside or blows rained towards him; however, he was not about to let Junior win this one, oh no. He smirked as the young man attacked with the forced of one who believed that they were there, and had their fully attention on the battle, if not somewhat distracted. However, Rei focused on nothing but. His body composed its self as Junior's counter was in-coming. Time seemed to slow down for but a moment before Junior's leg soared over a swift forward leap from Rei as he had moved then into his second blow.

Blocked! His eyes and brain never stopped working as he narrowed his eyes at the battlefield and the terrain as Junior moved along. He had already calculated the sleuth's favorite kinds of physical attacks, kicks, but he was also well-versed in hand combat. And he used the latter for his second counter. As his attack was deflected aside, Rei crouched low as he allowed the arm to push forward, ever so! It glided as he decended and his legs spread wide as the elbow meant for his chest and its follow up struck air. The smirk on his face would have said it all, really.

But, of course, the man was not done with his offensive. Rei seemed to have lit a fire in the youth's gut and now it flowed outward like- hey! The human turned to see that his sensu beans had been stolen. Rei was now infuriated. How dare Hiragi Junior, a Paladin, resort to mere theft?! His eyes turned from more light to stone. "Jinior-kun, anta..." No, this would not stand! He had broken a fundamental law on any planet, besides a select few. "Judgement cometh."

It was likely that Junior did not know why he had said that, but it would become apparent. This was no longer a test if the boy resorted to mere thievery to achieve victory against a Paladin. But then, there was something to be said for it. Rei smashed his hand into the ground and removed a large piece of the land, before something flared- he had looked away before he picked the piece of land up as he planned to use his ability to sense on Junior. He clawed at his face for a moment before He noted a new sound. What in the name of Mother Dark...? Not only was Junior stealing, now he relied on tricks?

The shock wave struck the dirt and knocked back Rei as he howled in his annoyance at the technique. What in the name of the ancients had this boy dared to do?! Rei pushed aside the dirt around him before he howled, "No longer a test, Junior. You have spat on that!" The Paladin's sword flew from it's scabbard before he lauched himself at the ki signature, for this was his true style of combat. His blade flashed for where he sensed the chest must be, and then the blade flashed once more to make an X, though he had to be certain that he did not use the Vast Cross for this.

Gonna rule the Solar Flare block a fail. Mainly because it was a one-line defense. Rei, you didn't rp why your character saw it coming or even IF he saw it coming. He just randomly ripped out a chunk of earth for no apparent reason. So yeah, it's a failure. Solar Flare crits.

I'm sure I missed something. If I did, go ahead and tell me.

Junior’s position hadn’t changed any from the launch of his special technique. With the light diminished and the playing field fully in his view, the boy only needed to see one more thing; Rei. There had been no impact by Junior during his attempt to counter strike. Junior’s eyes drifted to the ground as he thought about it. The counters had been avoided.

Kusou! Ore no kauntazu wa saketa no ka? Ano otoko wa yosouji ni sugerete iru dayo! Daga…

Junior lifted his eyes and could now see Rei. The boy’s perception was good to him. He could read the frustration in his opponent’s posture. Had he already discovered the missing sensu pouch? Quite a feat considering the blinding light he expanded across the field. Junior’s own grin appeared on his face.

“Junior-kun…” he heard, then shortly after he heard, “Judgement cometh!”

Yes, he had discovered his pouch missing. Junior took his stance, feeling the Rei would soon begin to attack. His eyes now unflinching, the boy had his sights set on Rei. But not one moment in this had passed where Junior had forgotten the reason why his efforts were pouring out. He pictured the struggling Daisuke his mind, fighting whatever it was that endangered him. During this time a voice reached out to him.

Still hesitating, Junior-kun! But your efforts are becoming more valiant.

“K…Kento-sama!” Junior uttered, his face struggling to stay showing focus.

How was Kento communicating with him now? In an empty void in his mind, Junior found himself staring face to face with the guardian. This man that made himself the source of purging Kasume was now guiding him.

Junior, when we last saw each other, I told you that you were now on trial. There is a special destiny awaiting you and it will call you whether you are ready or not.

“But Kento…”

I see in the run, you have taken on an apprentice. Well and good, but you are forgetting one of the fundamentals of teaching; Trust! If you’ve been teaching him with the best of your ability, then trust him to his own devices.

Junior had voices of reason surrounding him. It’s true he’d been teaching Daisuke the best he could. Daisuke had shown the willingness to endure. Unable to reach him, all that was left for Junior was to trust Daisuke and engage his own trial, which meant defeating Rei. Kento’s image faded and Junior returned to reality. Just in time to see Rei take off on the offensive.

“Kento-sama…arigatou!”

Daisuke…ganbatte!

"No longer a test, Junior. You have spat on that!" howled the paladin.

Junior’s body radiated with ferocious energy as the paladin charged. His sword had changed positions, meaning it was about to see use. Silently he thanked Rei for the telegraph of his next offensive move and went into a cartwheel – backflip combination to the right of his first slash. Sure of himself that Rei had no intentions of ceasing use of the sword, the boy continued his motions and sprang off the ground with a push in an attempt to get above his hefty swing. Now in the air eluding gravity, the boy cupped his hands, wanting to launch his own assault. But as he prepared to churn the ki, the boy’s better judgment kicked in and he cancelled the posture. He merely completed his jump, landing few ahead of his opponent.

“Wasn’t it you who wanted to end the test? I thought you’d be happy to see me fighting more seriously. I never understood how people could be so unhappy with the things they ask for. I don’t know anything about you! All I know is you challenged me. Even if doubt means to eat me alive, if someone is counting on me I won’t let them down!”

Junior threw his arms out and let his power surge around his body.

Daisuke! Ore wa wo shinji shite! Ore wa ganbaru shite yo!

“OMAE O TOASU SHITE IRU! HAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!”

As Junior allowed his energy to surge freely for perhaps the first time in a very long time, there was a sense of warmth buried down beneath him. With it, was a sense of understanding finally reaching him.

Min’na! Wakatta ze! Arigatou!

Junior crouched slightly with his body still flaring with energy. Junior leaned forward slightly and became nearly invisible with the sudden surge of speed he put out. He started with a furious weighted lunge punch straight for the paladin’s face. Coming behind it quickly, the boy furiously threw a two-set of uppercuts for the chin. Then his fists pumped out at his opponent like a jackhammer determined to break the concrete it was aimed for. Left, right, left right in succession! After his 8th sharp punch, the boy flipped himself back in hopes of clipping the paladin’s face with his feet as he flipped. Then with a sharp forward jump, the boy’s right roundhouse swung about for the man’s side. The furious combo finished with a upward thrust kick hoping to abuse the chin again.

Jumping back, the boy furiously moved his hands about as if he were trying to mold something. Faster and faster they moved to the pointed they started to generate actual heat. They could move even faster as he focused into it, the focused area getting hotter and hotter until; IGNITION! The boy produced a solid ball of fire in the air. With a forceful “HAAAAAH!” he pushed the ball forward with his hands, attempting to make contact with his opponent yet again. Finally the boy focused into himself, accelerating his body like before, only this time as he did so, a line of fire raced toward the paladin’s form. Junior attempted to race right past the man while spewing flames. It was only when the boy stopped, that he appeared again some distance to the paladin’s rear.

Visible in the boy’s hand was a lighter. With his thumb he put the lid over it and placed it in his pocket, now looking over the contained area of mild chaos that was his attack. There was no ease on his face as the paladin had shown some serious resilience earlier. It would be a godly miracle if this guy had been done in by such a wave of attacks. The boy looked down at his hands. The trembling was visible. He'd made a serious decision. He took a deep breath and then focused. With this focus, the boy now could feel every fiber of his body ready to do as he asked. Once ready, the boy's eyes opened, flashing blue before he disappeared. At greater speeds than before, he shuffled around until everything was a blur of lights and colors.

He didn't lose sense of his target throughout this movement and he was now racing a serious circle around him. The motions were set and he now had in his mind how the next attack would be executed. Now the next piece of this came in the form of a shiny stone he revealed from his pocket. As he gripped it tight, the energy surged through him an accelerated his energy gathering speed. Again he jumped into the air, now prepared. His body flickered like a raging live electric circuit. He could only evade gravity for so long so this would be it. As ready as he every would be, the boy used his hands to form a triangle, now staring through the triangular hole at what should be the position of his target if his sense was on target.

Onegai!

His muscles were now extremely tense, but the energy was ready. So with that, the boy put faith into the attack and... NEO-TRI BEAM!!!!

A shocking energy force poured out of him, providing the added effect of pushing his body upward in the air to prolong his suspension. As the horrific force reached down, the isolated area of ground had a disastrous collapse. Junior was nearly horrified at this sight. But he couldn't afford to hesitate now. Pushing his focus further, the boy unleashed the horrific force once more further devastating the isolated focal point. The crashing sounds that was the ground's collapse under the crushing power filled his ears, the dust rushed about everywhere except the giant hole he was creating. But he did it again! Releasing the same force, the area was further damaged under its power and Junior felt as if part of himself was pouring into the force itself.

Junior focused expression intensified just before his electrified hands flashed one last time before the force of power poured out of him onto the ground one more time, meaning to catch the paladin under its fury. Then suddenly he dropped his hands. He couldn't stand to unleash the attack anymore. There was a strong look of regret on his face as he began to descend. His body seemed to be in some kind of pain. After a few more moments of descending out of the sky, he was rescued by the nimbus cloud. It straightened out and coasted forward steadily so Junior could see the ground below and the gaping hole that was now embedded there. His muscles staggering, Junior decided to float on the cloud for a moment while his body adjusted from the shock of the attack.

What was this? His eyes were not working as they should. Well, no matter. He didn't need his sight. His eyes closed as he used his ability of magic and ability to sense to paint Junior in details. His attacks, though they had failed, had reduced the offensive actions of the warrior he now faced. His ability to defend had not diminished, either. His ki senses picked up on Junior's power drop, however low that was. His body pushed its self as he ground his teeth as he brought his arms up in an X formation in front of him to protect his vital organs. One blow struck the armored arms. Then the blows moved like a hurricane, but this was his realm! Speed was Rei's realm of combat! His body moved back as the blade in his hand moved out and moved like a rapier!

Left- knocked aside, right- knocked aide with slicing into Junior's arms! His arm continued the motion as he moved back, the arm extended. The strength of his own arm flared as the blocking continued with quick and free motion as he did not see the arms, he used the ki signature and arm motion to block the eight strikes. Close-up, it was much easier to 'see' Junior. The blade moved easy as his own arm, something he's not shown Junior before. And then he used the blade to stop the kick that was aimed at him. No, Junior would not lay another finger on Rei.

It was then that something hot formed. Rei's moved the blade away and calmed down. It was like a master monk as his body visilbly relaxed, his shoulders lowered and his posture became more solid with the relaxation. He was determined to never fall beneath the power of another. It was within his own mind that he would not. And to do so was to compose himself. With that, fire was thrown at him. The body moved a blur as the fire was flung at him and his body back flipped away until he pitched to the side. The ball fizzled by him, a roar of flame. A small smirk slid on his face as the blade was pulled up. As though from nowhere, a buckler slammed against flames. They licked at the buckler as he remain composed. The breath moved, and so Junior was not able to flank Rei, as might have been his plan.

Sigh was close to its return, and then Junior decided to run circles around him. Ridicules. He found this behavior lacking in discipline. His silence between the two of them was broken as Junior prepared his technique, "It so seems that you take pleasure in annoyance. You have been tested, aye. Yet, you have also committed a sin, grave as any. And thus, you have earned my ire. Hiragi-kun, it is the end of an era. You say I complain, but this was a test. It was not an examination. The difference should be known to one as you, yes?"

But now it was not the time for questions. Junior's body moved as Rei knew that his perfect composure was about to fade. No, he would not: wait, what was with that increase in power? The human's body moved and it's power flowed out like a sun. That kind of power was deadly- too deadly to ignore. The Paladin snarled as the human detective decided that such a technique was needed. While such technique would affect him in a lesser degree, he would not have to take this technique. A force pushed, heavy like the hand of a god- and he waited as long as he could, perhaps a mere two seconds.

Then he was gone. His power flat-lined so that Junior would not notice him. The sudden drop in power was like a stone load off of his shoulders. What Junior struck, was a blue after image of the Paladin. One strike was followed by another. The blow into the earth shook and sent a shiver through the Paladin. Such destructive power. And yet, he saw that there was yet another blow. The sound was so low within the earth that sounded as a god's voice. Burn's voice, the voice of a goddess of the ground, of the planets. And there was yet another. It was like Brood's hammer; Brood was Burn's harbinger, and he wielded a hammer crafted by his goddess.

And now it seemed that it had ended. A god's rage left a hole deep, deep into the ground. That kind of power came with a price. A price that left one utterly spent in the aftermath. Dust roiled over the Paladin as he stood within it. His body then shot like a bullet out of the dust cloud! His power snapped back as he howled in what seemed like a throaty rage, "Judgement Cometh, Hiragi!" His fist slammed for the throat of the human 'detective'. The blow was aimed to not fully crush the wind pipe, but to knock the wind out of the detective's throat and off his cloud. The blade then slashed for Junior's leg, at the right leg to slice the tendon to remove his ability to move around without the cloud or flight. If he could do that, then he could win.
