Cryognosis may have been thrilled to have learned to utilize the gem she acquired to talk to Kaiya...but...at the same time, she still didn't feel quite ready to communicate with her. This had, in the dead of the night, brought Cryo out from the shelter of the ship, to wander the seemingly endless badlands of Avalon. The travel had amounted to a couple hours’ worth of time, primarily making a path through the harsh mountains, when she had eventually happened upon a village. The sight was a strange sight, however. From where the princess stood at higher elevation, of a cliff side, she small smoke and heard distant cracklings… And…Her eyes narrow. This wasn’t a sight of strangeness; it was a sight of violence! This village was under attack! Cryo quickly glances along the cliff, looking for anything that would work to get her down quickly. However, there were no apparent means. Scaling it down would take too long, too. Then…She had a brilliant idea! One of the fundamental problems of using a ki attack was that, since the body naturally integrates ki into helping fulfill the body functions, it has a way to which it interacts with the body, causing a recoil type of effect: Ainsou youth have to learn, in order to utilize ki, how to detach this reaction from affecting the body, to prevent the influence of the emission burn effect and standard recoil. If she completely were to completely dismiss that aspect of training, she should have enough strength in her ki attacks that she could counter the gravity of the fall! Furthermore, if they were inefficiently constructed, Cryo could keep them from producing much range! Proud of the brilliant idea, Cryo rushes to put it into motion, and takes a few steps away from the cliff edge. It was scary…but…she could do it! The princess runs forward, and with a brave leap, removes herself from beyond the edge of the cliff! …Wouldn’t…wouldn’t field testing this idea have been better, first? …Crap. When gravity decides to inform Cryo that yes, it does indeed exist; Cryognosis lets out a screech of panic. There was no better time before now to do the field testing, at this point! With a thrust of her primary left arm, energy starts to flow out along the surface, and briefly after breaking free, suddenly condenses into a point in front of the palm before releasing out towards the vulnerable village at the ground level below, only to disperse a mere small number of feet beyond the arm. The sudden jerk back from her right shoulder causes Cryo’s screech to cut off and become replaced with a yelp, but at this point of descent, it was enough of a cancelation that she hovered in suspension for a brief moment. The airy feeling was weird, and even a bit unnerving; yet it was somehow also exhilarating and wonderful! …Looks like it worked. What follows is a semi-rapid series of blasts out towards the ground, over and over, showering towards that single isolated settlement, but never even threatening to establish a sense of reach at all. The process went on for several moments, and as Cryo got the hang of it, more time was put between attacks, and Cryo felt less of the negativity in the adventure. When Cryo started to grow nearer, she tried to get a better jist of the surroundings, but not to too much avail. It still took a lot of concentration just to pull off this properly, and she was deathly afraid to make any slipups. She could deal with the brigands shortly, where her death was a risk, versus the certainty of crushing into the ground. Even missing one could be dangerou—Cryognosis suddenly is thrown off course with a screech when she takes the hit of a cluster of shotgun pellets into the side. Fortunately the influence of gravity was drastically overestimated, when the ensuing thump doesn’t mark the moment of death. A crude voice admits in a confused tone “I think I just shot off some kinda’ bird. Like some glowy bird.” A voice of a comrade responds the strange remark “So you think some magic bird came outta the sky, goes and answers some guy’s summons, or somethin’? What next, it turns into a magical dragon-thing? ---Quit wasting ammo and help me check out this house!” The ainsou gives a small groan of pain from where she lay. The bullets struck her, but the injury was barely more than surface deep, the natural ki flow of her body completely blocking off further intrusion of the offending materials. She climbs to her feet with a frustrated growl, looking unto the offending beings, and is met with confused, frightened looks. The three, not just two, of them were armed with scavenged together messes of basic armoring and wielded simplistically made firearms that had relatively scarce sections. --Personally crafted weapons, not mass produced, and designed to be thrown away when they’re broken down. Attending a note of the armor, the individuals were by far completely expendable and the structural design was generically built enough that it could be refit across numerous individuals, within a general sizing: Literally slapped on repairs that changes hands so frequently. Terrible combat posture, or possibly even improper posture by the standards of their species entirely, and generally un-alert and easily distracted nature seemed to infer that they were not particularly skilled or long-standing fighters to start with. So, what: A cluster of servants brought together under some alpha? Hirees brought for continuous income, not really thinking about the risky, likely illegal occupation they’re engaging in. They’re able to keep on replacing weapons, but they don’t need to do much with a waste of armor. They were hailing to someone uncaring…No proper leader at all. No less, arms brought to the quadarm spoke easily enough of loyalty. This trio of extras, sadly, were genuinely as much of criminals as their lord. Cryognosis quickly charges at them, and they release blasts: A cluster of shotgun pellets scatter along behind Cryo’s lowered form, a rifle shot out off to the side too far, and though a rapid-firing firearm at first hit a glancing blow on mark, the rest of the spray found the background beyond Cryo uncontrollably. She may have been injured, but their voluntarily primitive weapons were so weak that she was entirely unconcerned. A gun jam happens to the one with the machine gun, and she tries to remove the clip only for the clip to actually shift into getting stuck into the gun’s chamber itself. It didn’t really matter, anyway, because barely after this happened, suddenly a pair of horns took through the armor into the lungs. As the body slams lifelessly into the ground, Cryo noted the surprising ease. Minimal platings. Lightweight deterrent worth nothing. The charge was unnecessary to establish a puncture. It was a feather of courage: Proud alphas instill their blessing unto their pack members by a feather of their own mane. It is said to carry the strength of them, to, by their faith channel the strength through them to defeat their foe. If the follower won? The loyalty to the alpha was their victor instead, but their bravery rewarded them to continue to live no less. If the follower lost? Their fear and wavering faith was the cause of their demise. The point amounted to that the feather was absolutely worthless besides being pretty, yet their followers felt it brought out courage and inner strength. Likewise, these bandits thought their armor and arms would bring them to domination every time, yet the other two not struck down by the charge now either consisted of the one with a chest that was completely shredded by ruthless, inconsistent kinetic forces of a ki blast, or was the one who had half the neck torn off from a sharp thrust of natural head-mounted weapons. Their master brought them no strength. Cryognosis didn’t need to do much more than roar and screech, while walking through. Bandits brought themselves out, their intimidation working against motivating the survivors to join them against the monster. Their foolish readiness to engage the ainsou was met with relentless blasts of bursts or piercing beams. Occasionally a near-enough victim would find themselves mutilated by horns or torn apart and pummeled by superior strength. The force of justice and protection had to be relentless to invaders, which these people clearly were. She didn’t entirely want to execute them so brutally, but she would not stand down against these people at all: They drew their weapons, and that was when the battle would be brought to them. They did not have the mercy of ‘but wait, we didn’t expect to be opposed!’ For it, it honestly felt like they deserved it more. It was only after so many that they had started to learn their lessons. Even the easy recruits had a sense of moral, suddenly dropping weapons and running, or sometimes running with the weapons. Some of them tried to run off with belongings to sell off, but Cryo pursued them and sent them a few more things to have: some more bursts of ki, free gifts from the member of noble birth, herself. “What’s the commotion?!” Cryo’s eyes dart towards the defensive wall that had looked to be long-since torn down. There were numerous smaller shuttles and moving trucks that were parked beyond the boundaries of the town, set to a preparation state for loading. From amongst the vehicles, a large man emerges, stepping forward calmly. The site had highly advanced lamps laid out along intervals, to provide sufficient lighting and prove that these bandits were in fact advanced like the rest of this world, and so it initially had revealed the man. However, as he continues, he casually enters the darkness, only going back into light as soon as he entered the town borders. He stood even taller than Cryo…It wasn’t too drastic of a difference, but she could see it, no less. It was especially emphasized with his broad, thickly muscular build that honestly left the woman intimidated. He had short hair, inconsistently cut as and messily spread out into all directions, almost as though he naturally was in a permanent state of just getting out of bed, even though his body was worked out plenty to say otherwise. He had a plated armor, layering over a thick cloth that poked out between armor segments between joints, but it ultimately felt decently conservative, and shielded cables ran out from numerous section endings towards the back to insinuate it was perhaps reinforced with some kind of system. A helmet was part of the wear, but so broken up that several large portions of it were discarded, enough that he might as well have not bothered. The being also, of course, was a fairly no-frills of ainsoids: Only two arms, no tail, no exotic limbs to speak of, and legs that bent the wrong way, as well as a head without worthwhile-sized ears or horns. Finally, he wielded a large mechanical-technology rifle that looked like it was actually up to par of the planet’s reputation of technology. So this was their alpha, huh? At first, Cryo reeled back in fear, but then she gave second thought to the matter. All of his men were so pathetic, so what was her concern for the king of the pathetic servants? His pack was pathetically weak, after all. Still, he was her challenge, and she was going to take this new threat seriously, considering he was better fitted than his underlings. Cryo immediately darts out for him, with zig-zagging, but she was greeted with a sudden blast of the rifle. It was well aimed, and she had barely managed to stop short in her change of direction to not outright take a hit. Even though it missed, the ainsou still felt a burn of the blast graze her skin. With a yelp, the lady faltered and outright fell against the ground with a slight skid. The man didn’t seem to see that it missed, and looked from her towards the others “SEE?! This thing was no problem. Get back to work, slackers!” Cryo growls, and at first moves slowly as he regulates his attention to his unwieldy servants; then, as soon as he caught the movement, Cryo immediately darts off into cover, having already gotten to her feet by the time he gave her further attention. A few wild shots found nothing of note, and Cryo pits her right shoulder into a slam into the wall. This wasn’t going to be a pushover fight, clearly. Cryo closes her eyes, and starts to take into her attention the sounds…It had mostly fallen idle. Many of the surrounding people have evacuated the combat area, except for some from the other side of the wall…Panicky noises, frantic pacing…something like that…? Held hostage? Huddled together in fear? Who knew, but it was all disgusting circumstances no less. The monstrous enemy was moving along the side wall, steadily. He was smart enough to be careful, but he clearly did not think much of the ainsou threat: he gave too little distance from the side of the building, after all. His body weight, even after armor and weapon, roughly amounted only to a little more than her own body weight. So…The armor was not really designed for weight, it must have functioned on a barrier type effect. Its pack seemed to be back mounted, so it was possible it was not designed to be struck, which especially made sense if it was a military uniform, where one’s back typically goes towards their own squad and forces. If so, the rifle was likely running off the power grid, drawing out its energy in order to function with its strength. If it could be taken down, then the man could be defeated effortlessly. …In theory, anyway. He was possibly ex-military if this was a true theory, or a mercenary. If he was a mercenary, his behavior didn’t seem to add up, to go to banditry. If he was ex-military…? Maybe he stole his suit? Now this man seemed awfully dangerous. He had better trained techniques than Cryo had. She learned fighting, but she wasn’t devoted to the task sufficiently enough to know it in and out. Once she takes down the implied barrier generator, she was only going into a manageable fight, not an automatically established victory. The large man steps out into view, immediately turning into Cryo’s direction and readying his weapon! However, he’s suddenly caught off guard, stricken in mid-motion by Cryo ramming into him off-center with her left side. His posture barely takes more than a flinch, despite the surprise, and it certainly felt like hitting a wall…A burning wall, that quickly made Cryo’s skin sore against it. No matter, she needed to enact her quickly made plan. The woman quickly half-spun, pivoting around the man’s left arm as he tried to mentally catch up to what just happened, and right in the open Cryognosis saw the generator! She quickly thrusts all four hands towards the device, releasing a focused beam right through the center. It immediately shatters, with its metallic shreds flinging out along the blast’s direction. The man is jerked away from the woman, as his armor, glowing electric blue with its triggered force field, suddenly lost its illumination as its fuel was torn away from it. He manages to catch himself, with a stumble, but barely after he had done it, the bulky remainder had rapidly destabilized, and started making unnatural, terrible screeching and thumping noises as it attempted desperately to function. Cryo knew that this was not going to be anything good, and quickly rushed away from him. The ex-soldier quickly turned to face Cryo, bringing rifle at ready. The princess was extraordinarily lucky by this point: The generator outright blew up! The man gives a cry of pain as he’s literally launched off his feet, and sent to the ground before Cryo. His body acted as a shield to Cryo taking harm, and actually rendered her safe beyond the agonizing ringing of her ears. The woman clutched disperately to them, wondering if she’d be able to hear again, before collapsing entirely. The pain was so overwhelming that she couldn’t even stand up… …After a time passed, Cryo felt her body rock gently. With a groan, Cryo opted to protest the act. Her body was sore, her left arms and right secondary arm were burned. She had been sleep deprived twice over, between prior to her quest exertion and in her time which she snuck out the ship…It was all really exhausting to the woman. However, after only a small break was made before the shoves persisted again and harder. “Please. Wake up! We don’t want them to think that you are dead and rebel!” It was such a pleading tone…These people needed a leader…? With another groan, Cryo opens her eyes, and glances off towards the left, into the sky. The moonless night didn’t really indicate a sense of passed time, but the lighting was more telling. It was still the dead of night, as it stood. Cryo gives a sigh and starts to pull herself up, feeling groggy and shaken…was this person sure she didn’t have to stay asleep? Eyes fell towards white-haired that awoke her. A suppressed citizen, looking like she was on the end of her nerves…but no less brave, waking up a wild beast, just because she happened to save her...She wasn’t armed or armored, even shoddily. She was clothed, and looked a little worse for wear, in both health and uniform. It wasn’t unlikely that she was rather literally shoved through the ground in the earlier raiding. Cryo looked back to see a man investigating the body of the former antagonist. The generator was entirely fried, and a lot of the backside of the former soldier was absent…no, scattered. A little there, a little here… Cryo could have felt proud of her handiwork, if she were a darker natured woman. No, this was a depressing, sorry sight. Someone who was capable of using his strength for good and protection instead reaped the rewards at others’ expense. Even if he was no Facrin, and not even a leader of his own territory, he was a leader of a kind, and to see his role break down into a dream of a crime spree, it was a sore, disgusting observation. Cryognosis hoped she would never break down into such a pathetic path of simplicity in rule, or at least, that she would be taken down the same way someone as him had. However, Cryo was ushered towards the streets, with the woman rambling onto a creature who only returned her words with a confused expression, ears lowered. Did she catch on that Cryo was not going to acknowledge understanding her? No, apparently not. The stranger had suddenly turned Cryo to her, and explained she’ll get the local physician to look at her injuries, before suddenly rushing off. Cryo frowned, and looked over herself. She had injuries, and they were quickly getting dirty. It would be unhealthy to keep to this state, and the ainsou needed to see to something anyway. With a quick moment to herself, Cryo lowers down, and starts to rub at her one of her shoulders. Her skin starts to turn into a grey, and the woman starts to pull at the greyer parts as they form: These parts start to break off, and Cryo uses this as a basis to start on her process: Cryo starts shedding. The shed coat was not black and hard like the recent time. Instead, it was a thin, smokey layer of her former appearance, capturing ear and tail fur, hair strands, horn shell, and wing feathers alike, in addition to her skin. Even in losing all the feathers, fur, and hair, Cryo claimed the ability to keep the presence of them on herself, for the fact was that new amounts of such had grown as quickly as they were removed, up to their full, former length. When skin near wounds started to pull away, it actually lifted the surface of the injury with it, leaving behind dented in, reddened and hard looking patches of protective shell-like covering. After it was all said and done, the castings openly left on the ground, Cryo looks on along the streets. People were surprised and shocked to see that someone was willing to shed in the public. Well, she was a wild being, she would insist. There’s no reason that she should go to an appropriate place to go and shed! No matter, they seemed to go back to their own ends as Cryo leveled a ear-forward glare at them. The woman relaxes, and starts to walk the streets of the now relatively peaceful place. It looked like the bandits were getting rounded up and put on their knees into the streets, stripped of armor and arms. Other people had started to extract the goods stolen from the vehicles, and in fact much of extra supply. Everyone was happy, victorious, and a few were even openly praying. Sadly, not everyone was happy. Plenty of the population was being put out for medical attention to be seen to. Cryo observed rather quickly that a building marked as the local hospital was partway torn down. They must have had to move as much of the facilities to outside as possible… The woman who woke the princess was out, talking with a surgeon who was about to prepare an emergency operation… Looks like she wouldn’t be getting through for a while. In the aftermath, the small city of Chitindah was rescued by Cryognosis Facrin. About 75 loyalists to a military man who had discarded his name for the simple alias of the Doom-bringer had been taken down. Apparently this DB man splintered off from main forces when he was discharged for his excessive aggressiveness, even to his own unit. When he was escorted off of a ship to be brought back on planet to wander the wastelands on his way home, to contemplate on his behavior, he suddenly turned on his own men. DB was able to utilize his battle prowess and lack of morality to overwhelm the ship in a flash, and stole it for himself. Since then he started to dominate local bandits and rounded them up under his rule with his official, up to date military equipment. He then used these bandits to organize professionally conducted assaults, but he openly didn’t care for his own men, who he only provided pretty basic defense to. Taken over faciltiies were used to use minimal resources to produce weapons that his people could use, and he used his forces to dominate the local area. The local places tried to call for assistance, but they were denied because they would not swear to the paladins, because they were too remote, and finally because forces were focused onto the interplanetary war effort. Chitindah was on its last legs, and its citizens were quite thankful for Cryo swooping by just in time. They will from this point on make a slow but steady recovery, but they realized they could not communicate with Cryo effectively, and that she would not accept their desire to help her with medical assistance. No less, they wanted to give her SOMETHING for her troubles, as the local savior. Inevitably, Cryo was given a pink sleeveless shirt and skirt (the seen outfit of her profile) and some training wear she could use to make herself even stronger. She even was given a little organization manual that would inevitably, in the future, prove to help her coordinate her day-to-day to make her training sessions go smoother. Cryo directed a small couple of people to bring her to Kaito’s and Kaiya’s ship, as, even the assisted transportation, she would barely make it time by the time at least one of them would be waking up. Cryo was left at the ship, with one coming with her to explain her deeds. Cryo meanwhile took the opportunity to try to return to her room and sleep. -WC- +4050 /4,050 (Footnote: I mention Cryo got equipment and clothes out of this. ...This is just ICly justifying Cryo's possession of her own belongings into the personal sagas, because I wanted to have an ICly mentioned reason. It's not particularly logical that Cryo runs off to a store when she wants to get something, after all.) |
