Everything was all set for a reunion of the people from Zaun who were scattered across the universe. All that needed to be done was for Walid to join everyone else on Earth. He had to admit that he’d be lying if he said that he wasn't going to miss Avalon, but he wanted to be with his friends again. Brontos said that he only needed to stay until he had better control over his new transformation, so there wasn’t anything left to stop him from leaving. As the warrior was packing up his things, his student Mauzu was wondering what the Zaunite was up to. In the midst of making plans to return back to Earth, the pink haired warrior realized that he forgot to mention things to Mauzu. It also slipped his mind about training the tiny assassin to get revenge on Rizor. So that he wouldn’t feel like a jerk to his student, he decided to give Mauzu a choice. “I have friends back on Earth that need me,” he said, “So if you want to continue training you’ll have to come with me as well.” Walid wasn’t entirely sure if the tiny assassin even knew anything about Earth, but didn’t think he’d be against it. Plus there could be things that his friends could teach him as well. “That sounds good and all, but what about your Paladin duties?” Mauzu responded back with. Hearing those words sent shivers down the Zaunite’s spine. That was part of the reason he wanted to leave Avalon to begin with. Being a Paladin was fun and all, but he didn’t want to be someone’s errand boy anymore. “Guess they’ll find someone else,” he muttered as he stuffed the final piece of equipment he had into his bag, “Anyways let’s get going.” The warrior tossed his bag over his shoulders and then began to head towards his ship. It had been so long since he used it that he wasn’t even sure if he even knew how to pilot the spacecraft. Either way he imagined that it was just like riding a bicycle. Right as he exited his hut he noticed that a couple of people in robes were heading his way. Obviously he knew that they were probably from the council, but why would they be looking for him? Walid made sure that before he decided to leave to notify Wolffin that he was leaving for a while. Regardless he decided to at least to one last duty before he left so he figured he’d at least do whatever errand they wanted him to do. “So what do you guys want me to do now,” he said coldly as he tossed his bag at Mauzu. He heard a loud crash as his student caught his equipment, but then brought his attention back to the council. Whatever mission they needed him to do; he hoped that it would be an exciting one. It would be something that he’d be able to remember the good times of Avalon with. “We need you to guard the Vault that housed many of our Planet’s income and valuable objects,” one of the members said, “We’ve been hearing that a group of criminals are plotting a break in.” It didn’t exactly sound like the perfect mission for him, but nonetheless Walid already said that he’d do it in his mind. “Alright you can count on me,” he said and then nodded at Mauzu to bring his stuff back to their house. After that he flew into the air and began to head towards the vault that the council wanted him to guard. Sitting around doing nothing wasn’t exactly the Zaunite’s style, but at least he’d have some fun if someone tried to break in. He also wondered how the council even knew that someone was planning to break in to begin with. Since when do criminal’s plans seep out to the public? The warrior used to be villainous natured so he knew somewhat how people like that operated. Usually when someone had plans to steal something they made sure to keep it quiet. Otherwise how would they be able to carry out their plans? The planet’s enforcers would know and therefore make sure that it doesn’t happen. WC: 710 |

Some time had passed by since the warrior left his home and for some reason he couldn’t shake off the strange feeling he felt. It was almost as if one of the members of the council was a part of the criminals. It had to be that he thought either that or the ones who wanted to do the deed were being too cocky. No matter how it looked in his eyes though, Walid was prepared to guard the vault at any cost. Finally a large building was within his sights, his travel was over with. There was something that did strike him in an odd way before he landed though. In front of the building, there was a rather long line of people. Not your everyday average joes, but warriors who were encased in armor. Maybe they were there to drop off something. Or maybe they were needed to help in case the criminals showed up. Seeing what he thought to be an army kind of made the pink haired warrior excited. He wanted something big for his last mission and from the looks of things he was going to get it. As he landed though, he started to think that something else was strange. Someone was thrown from the doors with a large crack in their armor. What the hell? At first Walid had to admit that he just thought that the Paladin was refused service for his behavior until he noticed something to his left. There were others lying on the ground and with wounds that one would receive from battle. The warrior didn’t want to act rude, but he wanted to get to the bottom of things. Instead of waiting patiently in line, he started to make his way towards the door and right before he did, yet another body was flung. The random Paladin’s skull smacked against Walid’s head and sent both of them flying. When the pink haired warrior was finally able to get back up, he walked towards the door again. Once inside the vault, he saw someone that really shocked him. “Tony?” he muttered under his breath, “Why is he here?” As psychotic as the Kassack Destroyer was, he still practiced the art of being a Paladin. Even Walid thought that he wouldn’t stoop as low as to attack his teammates to practice for battle. There probably was another motive for attacking his own kind, but the pink haired warrior was blind from rage to notice. “What the hell do you think you’re doing,” he shouted as he held Tony by his throat, “That isn’t a way to prepare for criminals!” Before Walid could squeeze his grip, he noticed that his fellow Paladin escaped from him thanks to his speed. It really bothered him that Tony was stronger because it meant that he couldn’t stop him from turning on Avalon. “What criminals,” the crazed Paladin said in an annoying tone, “With me here guarding no one will enter here.” Hearing those words really confused Walid even more. He thought that he was in charge of guarding the vault. Did that mean that the others were people meant to guard as well? “Let me guess,” Tony added, still in his annoying tone, “You thought you were going to be handed this job. Nope you have to defeat me first.” There it was, something that made the pink haired warrior know that his final duty would be a thrilling memento. Guarding something was boring, but a chance to fight someone that he hated and wanted revenge against? Ever since he arrived on Avalon, Tony was always there to cause problems for him. If it wasn’t commanding him to fetch him and his friend’s equipment, it was something like beating Walid up for no reason. It was finally to see if he had something in store to show his teammates when he returned to Earth. Showing no improvements in strength was something that he saw as a disgrace. If he was able to defeat Tony, he knew that he’d be able to be the fighter they needed to take Zaun back. “With pleasure,” Walid began to say and then started to force out his energy. A blazing orange aura flared out of his body and the marble ground started to crack into pieces. The Paladins who were standing in front of the Vault’s door started to flee from fear, but still Tony had an annoying grin on his face that the warrior despised. The moment that Walid’s eyes vanished without a trace was also the moment that he rushed forward as fast as he could with his right arm bent in front of him. As the warrior came within swinging distance of the Paladin, he swung his other arm over and tried with all of his might to bring Tony to his knees. Unfortunately for Walid things didn’t go exactly how he wanted them to go. Tony was able to bring his sword around in the nick of time and brought it between him and the pink haired warrior’s fist. So that he wouldn’t harm himself by striking the Paladin’s hard steel sword, Walid pulled his arm back and swung his body around so that he could kick Tony’s side and away from the blade. His left leg collided with the Paladin’s armor and knocked him back a few inches. Walid watched as Tony’s body realigned back to its normal posture and saw the Paladin’s cold silver eyes staring back at him. He knew that he had struck Tony’s inner pride. That Paladin always thought of himself as the strongest warrior alive, and thought that no one could defeat him. For someone like Walid to be able to even knock him a few inches away, was like throwing down everything that Tony believed in. Either way the pink haired warrior knew that things were about to heat up and that was what excited him the most. Right off the bat Walid watched as pure white energy flowed from the Paladin’s fingertips and grinned at the thought of him getting exactly what he wanted. Right as Tony was beginning to charge up his attack, the pink haired warrior began to take precautions himself and crossed his arms. He wasn’t sure if he had the power to stop an attack from Tony, but felt like it was worth a show. Finally energy bolts flew from the Paladin’s fingers and one after another, headed straight for Walid. The Zaunite sprung his arms forward as if he was a wind up toy and as he did, a gust of wind flew from his whole body. His energy wasn’t enough, but it did provide him with time to come up with another strategy. As the bullets flew for him, he noticed that the entire left side where Tony stood was unguarded and began to make his move. First his body vanished from thin air and then came back as he was a few inches away from where Tony was. He knew that he didn’t have many tools in his arsenal, but did know that he had something that was powerful if fired at point blank range. While he watched as the Paladin’s face began to look towards him, orange energy started to drip down his right arm until it formed a spinning disc. After that Walid swung his arm down like an axe and hurled his attack for Tony. “Alright that’s enough,” one of the Council members said, “Continue this and you may both lose your lives.” Before the warrior had paid any attention towards what was said, his eyes were still on his attack. His disc managed to slice through the Paladin’s armor and caused a small trail of blood to fly into the air. He also noticed as Tony was about to attack again, but stopped after the Council member told them to. “Since fighting this out is useless, Walid you guard the place tonight,” he went on, “Tony you take tomorrow night.” Even if he didn’t win the fight, the pink haired warrior felt like he had won the war. He watched as Tony walked back towards the door without saying a word, knowing that an explosion of anger was taking place deep inside of the Paladin. “Guess we’ll finish this battle another time,” the Zaunite said with a grin as he powered down, watching Tony leaving the Vault. It was a shame that he couldn’t see the result of their battle, but understood what the council member told them. There’s no telling what would have happened if they didn’t stop. Their lives probably wouldn’t be the only casualty. The walls, the injured Paladins in front of the building, many things were at risk. He was glad that no one was hurt and pretty happy that he managed to get under Tony’s skin. He felt like it would take a while before he was able to take on that Paladin, but felt like that was no longer true. If the council member said that both their lives were at risk, Walid figured that it only meant that they were equal in power. That was something that he didn’t think would happen for a while. What looked to be like a celebration for the pink haired warrior, soon turned into something that he hated. He was sitting behind a desk inside of the vault with his legs propped onto it and waited as if he was expecting someone. Already two hours had passed by since the council member who broke him and Tony left, and apparently took the daylight with them. Walid looked up at the ceiling above him and saw a lonely moon hankered in the sky. Man I wished Tony was still here. Even if the Paladin was stronger than him, he felt like getting his teeth knocked out was a more enjoyable evening than sitting around with nothing to do. With nothing else to do, the Zaunite stood up and drew out his sword. Since his blade was out he decided to get in a few practice swings and soon started to cheer up. There was no action for him to see, but he knew that didn’t mean that he had to sit around twiddling his thumbs. Training was the only other way that he knew that he’d be able to get stronger so that’s exactly what he did. Had he known that he would have been all by himself he would have invited Mauzu as well so that they both could train. His little student came a long way since that day they met. When Walid first saw the tiny assassin, all he saw in him was a little child who should have been back with his parents. While the warrior continued to think about that fateful day, he remembered the whole reason that he wanted to reunite with his old friends. Rizor, a Planet Trade General told him that Zaun was his. The warrior didn’t know much about that general, but hoped that he had power to back up his mouth. If there was anything you shouldn’t do to Walid, it was to never mock his friends or the place that they came from. If someone were to have done something like that, they’d need to be stronger than him because of the rage that would follow. The Zaunite had to admit that his anger did seem to be out of control at times, but with the help of his Patron he was slowly becoming a great asset in battle. “And that makes three hours,” the warrior muttered as he swung his blade and started at the clock, “That tip the council received must have been a bluff.” He did think that it was kind of suspicious for people’s plans to leak out so fast. In fact Walid had a feeling that the warning was just made up. He thought that it was just an excuse for the council to let the public know that the Paladins weren’t lazy. It didn’t matter much to the Zaunite; he wouldn’t say anything to anyone else. As he swung his sword once more Walid began to wonder if he should leave the vault so that he could begin his trip back to Earth. As much as he wanted to though, there was something that was stopping him from leaving. It was guilt. What if someone did break in? Even if someone didn’t, that kind of thing would haunt his mind. Just as he was in the middle of his thoughts, his eyes suddenly became heavy which resulted in him rubbing them to stay awake. I guess it wouldn’t hurt if I at least took a nap. The pink haired warrior walked back to the desk, slammed his feet onto the top, and then closed his eyes. After about five minutes of him being asleep, a cut was made in the wall across from where he was facing. It soon turned into the shape of a square until the marble chunk fell onto the ground. The sound echoed across the building and then suddenly a figured dressed in black appeared. “Wow he’s asleep…” the person muttered in a muffled voice, “This is going to be easier than I thought.” The figure moved only one inch and when they did, a sword was flung. Thankfully for them it just barely missed them by only a few inches, but they were shocked to see that the Zaunite was staring back at them. “So we meet again,” Walid said with a cocky grin, “The Cougar Legion is still around?” Already the warrior knew who the figure was. It was a female who ran a group of bandits that attacked people in the Cougar Plains. Walid had thought that he already had taken care of them, but guessed that he was wrong. Either way it looked like he was finally going to see some action after all. Instead of getting a reply from Aggro, Walid watched as her hands lite up and pink energy bullets were sent for him. Because of the intense speed that they were traveling at, Walid had to dig into whatever reserve his agility came from to slip away from the attacks. He couldn’t even get a break to launch an attack of his own. All he could do was to move around like he had ants in his pants until the Cougar Legion’s energy ran out. Was she always this ready to make the kill? Thankfully the energy blasts stopped and the pink haired warrior thought that he had a break. However he couldn’t make an attack. All he could do was crouch down to catch his breath in case Aggro was trying to trick him into thinking that she ran out. Walid’s eyes widened when he saw that the gang leader was not finished with him just yet. More energy bullets flew towards him and he was about to go back to the routine of dodging them, but had another plan in mind. He had his large axe given to him by Wolffin underneath the desk and ran as quickly as he could towards it. After he did so, he held it and then swung it around like he was planning to hit each bullet like a baseball. One by one, he swung his axe at the ones that flew at him and caused them to bounce back. Smoke was beginning to loom around the battlefield and started to weaken his vision. Maybe this also crippled her as well. He wasn’t able to tell where Aggro was because all that he could see was a mist of black fumes, but maybe that also went for her as well. As he saw another energy bullet sail passed his head he began to think otherwise. He knew that she wanted to steal from the Vault and apparently was willing to do anything to succeed. It also made him wonder what was inside of the vault. “You can try with all your might,” Walid finally said while coughing and energy bullets still flying around the place, “But I’m not going to let you succeed.” After he finished speaking he noticed that Aggro had stopped her assault, but didn’t know if that meant that it was over. With all of his might he swung his axe around as if he was a fan and caused the smoke to blow away. With his vision brought back to him, he looked for the Cougar Legion’s leader, but couldn’t find so much as a trace. Is she in the vault? Suddenly out of nowhere a piece of paper dropped on his head and when he read what was contained within, a grin appeared on his face. The words that were written by Aggro said the following: “I overheard from your little, student was he? He said that you wanted an exciting final day on Avalon. So I decided to show up to the party after seeing that it was kind of boring. Hope you had a blast and hope that we see each other again. Farewell Pinky.” He had to admit that he was very annoyed with the name that Aggro called him at the end of her note, but was happy that she had changed. The only question that remained was, for how long? People who were once criminals do sometimes stroll on the side of justice, but some of them don’t for very long. Walid was among those people and knew that only time would tell before he went back to his devilish ways. Since there was nothing left for him to do, he slipped his axe back to where it came from and sat down behind the desk. He leaned back in his chair with his hands placed behind his head and looked up at the sky. It was a shame that Aggro didn’t stay longer so that he’d have something else to do while he waited for day to come. I wonder what she’s even doing nowadays. WC: 1,472 TWC: 3,719 |
