It was difficult to maneuver throughout the day, especially with the unique attire that Sin’s creator had designed him with. But it seemed that he had become quite adapt at not catching any attention; the high rooftops did help a lot though. He would jump from one rooftop to the next making sure that no one was actually looking. Besides, the rooftops had a perfect view to make an easy layout of the city, which was the main reason he would be here. If there was one thing that he had learned, it was that that there is no such thing as too much information.

‘’Incoming transmission: Derrick’’

‘’Good day Sin,’’ it wasn’t often that he would communicate with the Android. Usually it meant that he had something for the dark Knight to do. ‘’Busy as always? Either way, I have a little task for you. It might be an interesting experience on how humans treat each other when confronted with a tragic fate. Plus the extra money won’t hurt you. Would it?’’ Sin placed his foot against the edge of the building and rested his forearm against his knee. He listened carefully to whatever Derrick had to say. ‘’I guess that your silence means a yes. You could be a bit more talkative, you know?’’ He let out a sigh through the Scouter.

‘’Recently I got contacted by Jenna Markil. She requested me to take care of this, but I told her I knew the perfect person for this. Go to the Skyfall mountains, home to the Markil clan, you might be familiar with them considering gathering information is supposedly one of your oh-so-many talents. The head of the clan had been murdered not long ago. And his wife seeks a little thing we like to call vengeance. If you are interested just head out there… they take anyone so even someone like you.’’

*End transmission*

Out of all the people he had gathered information on; it seemed that Derrick was the only man he couldn’t find much about. How did he get the info on how to contact Sin anyways? He shrugged it off, that would be a matter for another time. The Android searched within his database for the Skyfall Mountains – a location that wasn’t too far away from where he was situated. He decided that it was perhaps worth his time to check it out. Besides, it was one of his many hobbies to understand how humans worked.

It was awfully quiet once he arrived to his destination. The village which was home to the Markil clan seemed to be struck by grievance because of their loss. The people were, as expected, rather scared of the Android. Yet they could not help but feel curious; a trait common to most humans. Who could blame them? It wasn’t often that one encounters an artificial intelligence around these parts where modern society’s influences had still not reached. Sin walked towards one of the elderly and waved at the man – a fairly normal way to greet someone or so he observed from the social interactions humans had with each other. ‘’I seek out Jenna Markil,’’ he said as friendly and human as he possibly could, but despite his effort to sound non-threatening the old man jumped a little by the eerie machine-like voice. His hand shook uncontrollable as he pointed towards a small wooden house.

The door was already slightly open and creaked as he opened it. A group of people were sitting in a circle; apparently talking about matters that had led to a heated discussion. But their conversation stopped as soon as Sin had entered the building. One female in particular struck out amongst them; she had a fire in her eyes and looked determined to gain whatever it was that she sought. The people looked at each other, uncertain who this creature was that had entered the house. The woman stood up from her seat and bowed her head, ‘’I am Jenna Markil.’’ She seemed rather rugged and out of shape. It appeared as if she hasn’t eaten for days and was simply surviving on will power alone. Her hair had turned slightly grey after the passing of her husband. Her face was pale, yet it was her dark brown eyes that Sin was fixated on. She was slightly over fifty, but it seemed that the loss of her husband had taken a great toll on her.

She knew immediately why Sin had arrived to their village. Strangers rarely came here, and definitely not people like Sin, ‘’It isn’t often that our clan seeks help from strangers, but even our finest men have gone through deep depression and some of them don’t agree with the decision I have made. Nor would my husband have. But I can’t live knowing that the murderers of my man walk freely on this planet! I can’t ta-’’ she collapsed to the ground and the men quickly wanted to help her back up, but she gestured them to step back. She stood back up leaning her right arm against the wooden chair behind her as support. She sighed, ‘’I am too frail to go out in such a burst. I apologize…’’

There was a moment of silence as Jenna took a few breathers. Each word she spoke seemed to bother her more and more. The men watched carefully as she smiled at them, making sure that they would not worry about her. ‘’We don’t have much to offer you, but I would be grateful if you did this task for our clan,’’ she coughed and looked Sin dead in the eyes, ‘’I can hardly eat since my husband was murdered. And the people are scared and feel alone. I don’t know if my decision will actually help us, but I can’t just sit here and… die.’’

It was apparent by the way she looked that death was drawing near for her. Sin had measured her heart rate from the very moment he entered the building, or how her life force was slowly diminishing as she took each breath. It would only be a matter of time until she would breathe her last breath. Death was an inevitable fate for all living creatures. ‘’Well?’’

Sin stepped closer towards the woman and kneeled in front of her and the circle; it seemed like a befitting act for a Knight to do if he accepted a request. She smiled as she looked down at the Android from her seat, ‘’I assume that means a yes.’’ She told him every single detail; descriptions of Crin Blackheart, the location of the clan itself and even the way Crin fights. ‘’He is fast and strong, but reckless. I don’t know your capabilities, but don’t underestimate his raw power.’’ were the words she used. She wanted them dead – every single one of them. ‘’Vengeance,’’ she said to the machine just before Sin wanted to leave to his destination. ‘’Tatsu hated vengeance…’’

He couldn’t help but think of the last words she spoke to him, ‘’Tatsu hated vengeance…’’ The word, vengeance, kept repeating in his head. He shook it off just as he arrived to his location. This wasn’t a sneak mission; the Blackhearts knew that there would be someone looking for their heads. The Merkil clan weren’t the only enemies they had made along the years. It was to no surprise that their men were standing in front of the Android with their weapons – ready to smash him into pieces. They all had a huge grin on their faces and at the back of them all was his main target: Crin Blackheart.

The Blackheart members went charging at the Android. Sin quickly stepped aside each and every one of them as they approached him – maneuvering his way forward as he slashed his blade through them as if they were mere butter. Some of them managed to inflict some sort of damage, but nothing that was critical; mostly scratches on his armor which could easily be repaired. They all succumbed to his blade – one by one until there was one man standing: Crin Blackheart. He had a broad smile on his face after he observed the slaughtering of his men. He laughed hysterically as he felt the raindrops starting to fall, ‘’A fitting scenario…’’ he said as he reached his hand to catch the drops falling from the sky. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He unsheathed his sword and stared at his own reflection that displayed on the surface of the weapon. His black hair covering his right eye, his skin slightly tanned from working in the sun and his face that had several scars. He wasn’t the most handsome fellow; that was certain. ‘’I assume that wretched woman finally found the guts to hunt me down… I hate to kill a man with your skills.’’

Both men circled around each other – their blades pointing at their opponent. Sin’s ghastly red glow lit up brighter from the slit of his helmet. There was no denying that he felt a sense of excitement running through his circuits. The Android pushed his right foot back against the concrete and dashed forward towards his opponent who waited patiently. Their swords clashed as Crin parried the attack. He grinned as their eyes locked at each other – his strength was superior to that of Sin’s mechanical body. He slightly pushed Sin and threw a crushing elbow landed at the side of Sin’s head; making the Android step back to gain his balance. There wasn’t a moment of rest as Crin kept unleashing a relentless assault at him. His knee went flying towards Sin’s guts, but he blocked it with his mechanical arm, a close one. There wasn’t a moment where Sin could take it easy.

It seemed that he needed to push the very limits of his body. Electrical surges went throughout his parts – making him put more pressure on his body than he could actually handle. Their blades kept clashing against each other. The rain intensified with each second as it washed the blood beneath them. If they keep it up at this pace it would be detrimental for Sin, although he might be an Android there is a certain limit that his body can take before collapsing to the ground. Crin kept moving forward as a mad man – slashing and hacking at his opponent. There was no way for Sin to win by brute force as he wasn’t even capable to get near. All he did was block his opponent’s attack, and it would only be a matter of time until Crin would manage to attack him. He quickly jumped back to create some space between each other. ‘’What is the matter?’’ Crin asked as he placed his sword against his shoulder.

‘’How about we settle this once and for all?’’ Sin said as he pointed his sword at his opponent. Crin grinned as he nodded his head, ‘’Let us finish this!’’ They both held tightly around their blade. One last time they charged at each other with full force. Crin jumped into the air; his sword held over his head and swung it with a tremendous force it at his opponent, ‘’Die!’’ There was no time to escape the blow, but Sin had expected as much. He swiftly stepped slightly aside, just enough for the blade to cut his left arm off – leaving Crin absolutely defenseless. He pierced his blade into Blackheart’s gut and quickly removed it as he saw that his foe could no longer continue the fight.

Crin looked surprised at Sin – he watched as the chopped off arm that lay on the floor was that of a machine, ‘’An Android…’’ He smiled, ‘’I-I guess this is the fate of all men, I wonder where I will head when I die,’’ he fell to his knees – his face resting against the leg of Sin, ‘’Tell me… who will judge whether you lived a good or bad life?’’ Sin slowly moved his leg back – letting Crin fall against the ground as he stared at the Android grabbing his arm and walking away. He coughed a little bit of blood; his eyes gradually closing as he could feel his life coming to a near end. They say that just before you die you can see your life pass you by. But in the end all he saw was complete darkness.

The new head of the Merkil clan gave the money for the assassination as Jenna Merkil died that same night before even knowing if Sin had actually committed the deed. In the end, no one truly won at all, but Sin guessed that winning wasn’t even what she wanted. In the end… she just didn’t want to feel powerless.

‘’I can hardly eat since my husband was murdered. And the people are scared and feel alone. I don’t know if my decision will actually help us, but I can’t just sit here and… die.’’
