The Avalonian wind snapped and howled against Elric's face as he sat with a calm expression looking down from the peak of the mountain. He sat with his legs crossed, his Katana in it's sheath across his knees. He breathed in, and back out. His slow breaths mimicked the wind's pattern. He allowed his mind to wander, remembering the past few weeks of training with Master Aylin. When he came here, he knew his skills with the blade were lacking, far from being something he could rely on. Now, he was much more confident in his abilities. He'd learned a lot in the few short weeks he was here. Though it was concerning that Shamshire was still not speaking to him.

The conflict with Argus was bad, impeccably so. He had pushed the God of Passion somehow, and unbeknownst to him, reopened old wounds between the two. It'd taken all Elric had to step in and save Shamshire from Argus' wrath, but he didn't know that it'd be the best course of action in the future. A full scale conflict between the two of them could be catastrophic, both for the planet it took place on, and the Zaun as a whole. Elric had already isolated himself to prevent such an incident, but now he knew he couldn't stay away forever. He knew this was an issue that needed to be overcome, or at least put aside for the time being.

It seemed pretty clear why Argus hadn't acted sooner, Elric was a useful asset for the war. Argus wouldn't jeopardize Lysses' plans and his life just for an old dispute. Elric just had to make it abundantly clear that he was there to help Lysses, and that there was no bad blood between them. Perhaps it was his thoughts of staging a coup that lead to the conflict. Now Elric saw how stupid it was. He didn't have the patience or calm head to react quickly. He over-accessed things too often. Thought too deeply before acting too often. Now, he'd honed his instincts, having to rely on himself and not the help of Shamshire. It was almost like the God of Death had... well, died.

No, Elric could still feel the presence, but he was still worried that the silence between them wouldn't be broken. It'd happened in the past, but never for long. A week once, but that was for something entirely unrelated. Elric had just thought that Shamshire's advice was going to get him killed, so he started to ignore him. It wasn't until Elric absolutely needed Shamshire that they broke the silence between them. This time, the silence would be broken because Shamshire was ready for it to be broken. Because Elric was ready for it to be broken.

At the height of Elric's meditation, Shamshire finally spoke.

"It's time." Shamshire hummed like it was a routine ordeal.

"Hm, I was beginning to think I'd lost you." Elric smirked and let out a sigh of relief.

"You'd not be so lucky." Shamshire laughed, letting out a raspy cough as he did.

"You're still not well? That's a shame. I thought maybe you meant I was ready for more of your power." Elric frowned, standing as he adjusted the sheath of his blade, replacing it on his belt. He wasn't sure what Shamshire was talking about, perhaps he just meant it was time for the silence to be broken.

"Aye, I do intend to instill a bit more of my power in you. This time, you'll experience a much greater feeling of control over it. This is a new milestone, one you weren't able to reach in your past life. You're finally ready to take on the responsibility yourself." Shamshire explained, making Elric's snide smile return. "Though, remember, this is a painful process, and it doesn't get much better after here. There will be much more severe markings, and an increase in the burning sensation you usually feel. I implore you, do not use this transformation in light situations."

"Right, I'll be careful, as usual." Elric nodded and bowed his head, reflecting on the words of his patron.

"That means, no matter who ruins your dinner, I don't want you using this power, you hear me?" Shamshire barked.

"Heh, and I thought we'd both forgotten about that. I understand, this isn't a game. I'd like to say 'you don't understand how much this means to me', but I'm sure you do, and that means I should heed the warning even more so." Elric said, wiping his brow. He remembered the scene that Shamshire described. His first date with Zerori. How could he forget? It'd been one of the nicest nights of his life up until the point those wannabe vigilantes stepped in. He didn't regret his decision, but he could see where he might underestimate his strength in a form like this and break someone's neck with relative ease, even if he was just trying to warn them.

Things were different now, Elric had a different head on his shoulders. One much more devout. His cause was hazy before, now he knew what he needed to do to show he wasn't just some 'Grim Reaper'. He had to protect all life, and banish those who were here in the realm of the living by otherworldly means. That of course meant Demons. He'd known of a few before, but he'd never really encountered one other than when he was fighting with Lysses against.... damn, Elric couldn't remember the beasts name. It wasn't surprising though, a lot had happened since then, and he'd regained some of his memories from Zaun.

"Right, now, we'll need to get you into your ascended state now so we can begin this process again." Shamshire explained, hoping that Elric wouldn't ask many questions. He didn't, he just began powering up. Taking a wide stance, he began to collect his Ki, powering up until his energy flowed through his body like his blood did. With a low growl, Elric begin to form the burning onyx markings on his skin again. He growled louder and louder as they all took form. His skin seared with the familiar burn of his first ascended form. The pain used to be something he hated, but now was something he associated with growing stronger. With all pain, there was growth. Whether it be emotional or physical, there was growth.

Elric's chest resounded with the beat of his heart, so violent and erratic that he thought it was going to burst. His translucent black aura danced around him as the last of the familiar markings rose to the surface of his skin. He growled lowly still as he adjusted, his neck twisting as he remembered this familiar feeling. He let the marking settle for a moment, it'd been awhile since he'd let this kind of power out. He'd focused mainly on perfecting his sword technique here on Avalon. So needless to say, he wasn't exactly transforming all too often. Besides, he didn't know if transforming would hurt Shamshire or not, especially in the state he'd been in.

"You know, it's strange." Elric hummed, rubbing his wrists in attempt to regain the feeling in his arms quicker. "It's usually me all battered and broken, and you that has to save me and protect me. This time though, I got to be on the other end. I know it was reckless and stupid, but it was for something greater than myself. You won't convince me there was another way around what was going on. It was you or me, and I chose me." Elric spoke, a very serious tone falling over his words. Of course he was speaking in regards to Shamshire and Argus' confrontation.

"I know I might have tried to talk you out of it, but I'm proud of you for making the call, and for snapping through my control. I can't say I remember a time when you'd have been able to do that. That is, at least partially, reason for what we're doing now." Shamshire groaned in response. He still sounded quite weak, it pained Elric to hear. He knew what he was doing though, so Elric stayed quiet.

"Thanks, that means a lot to me you know. Even more so because what you're doing for me. This can't be easy for you, can it? We can put this off if you still need rest." Elric said, concern in his voice. A strange occurrence, it was almost like he was trying to talk Shamshire out of it. However, Elric was more excited for this than he could even put to words.

"No, boy, we've put it off long enough. Besides, the longer I wait, the more in danger you are. You need to master this before we return to the others, for I fear it might be the only way to show Argus you are in fact in control, and not myself."
Shamshire explained. It made perfect sense, sure, but that didn't mean Elric liked it. He still was nervous, both about the increase in power, and the effect it could have on his patron. He'd put his life on the line to protect him just a month ago, and for him to die trying to make Elric stronger, that'd be a travesty. As much as he feared for the worst, he was prepared for the best. With a nod Elric hummed, letting Shamshire know he was ready.

At first, the burning was subtle. Almost like Elric wasn't feeling anything at all. Soon though, he felt the pain and the smell of burning flesh filled his nostrils. He winced and growled as the marks got darker and redder on his arms. His aura flared and howled, becoming more defined, looking like a thick black smoke was rising from the ground around him. He snarled as the burning marking became more defined, carving even more surface of his arms. He could feel it on his face too, as well as see parts of his hair gain a bright purple tone. With everything on fire, he dropped to the ground, seething in agony.

He could feel it in his chest too, like his lungs themselves were burning. He felt like he was dying, but he knew that the first time was always the worst. The next time it'd be less traumatic, and it'd continue to get less traumatic until he no longer even felt the burning. Just when he thought he was done for, just when he thought he was dead, the pain faded. It was then that he felt the extent of this power. His body felt so much more sturdy, agile. His muscles were swollen and he could feel his power! He flicked his scouter on for a moment, then turned it right back off. He didn't want to know. It didn't matter. He laughed at the thought.

"Power won't win me a fight. Passion is what drives me, and it's what will lead me to victory no matter the opponent." Elric smirked, pulling himself back to his feet. He unsheathed his katana to get a good look at himself. In the slightly warped image of his reflection he saw how the marks on his face had grown and become a dark red instead of the black that he was accustomed to. They covered much more of his face now. Perhaps they were only red from the burning. Surely the markings would settle back down to the charred onyx color.

"Like I said, this isn't a toy, boy. Don't take this lightly. I'm trusting you with this, because I need you to be able to handle this. Do you understand?" Shamshire groaned, sounding much weaker than before.

"Right, I understand, but you need to get some rest. This couldn't have been easy for you." Elric spoke calmly, resheathing his blade again. Shamshire groaned, and Elric thought that was the last of it.

"You've got new limits to test, go on and do it. I'll speak to you again when I've recovered fully." Shamshire groaned, letting the silence fall back over them. Elric nodded. He took a wide stance and charge his energy before shooting into the sky like a missile. He felt so much stronger it was ridiculous. So much more alive now. He couldn't wait to test himself, Shamshire knew that. Otherwise, he'd have probably just left without saying anything. He wanted Elric to be free to enjoy his new power and test his abilities.

"Wait until the others get a look at me now." Elric grinned from ear to ear, adding, "Wait until Chishan sees this!" That thought made him put more energy behind himself, shooting even faster through the sky. Everything streaming by just looked like blurs, he could barely make out the treeline from the horizon. It was early morning and the sun hadn't yet come up, so everything was still dark and gray looking. It looked like the ashes of an intense battle had peppered the landscape. Or was that exactly what was going on?

Elric paused for a moment, hovering in the air as his black aura dripped from him like he was a smoke machine. He looked around, searching for a sign that confirmed his feeling that something here was off. His brow furrowed as he glared at the trees, indeed covered in ash. From what? It was too soon to tell. He clicked on his scouter, hoping for an immediate answer. However, the answer came sooner even than that. The ground beneath where he was hovering began to swell, quickly bursting! Out of it spewed hot magma, splattering on the trees, setting them ablaze. Elric stood stunned at what seemed to be a freak instance of nature. However, out of the blister came a creature that looked to be made entirely of magma! It floated out of the hot soupy rock with a maniacal laugh.

"Something wrong, Park Ranger?" The magma man cackled as if he'd just insulted Elric's line of work. He wasn't a ranger, he was a warrior. He'd have to show this freak of nature that the hard way. It seemed as good a way as any to test out his new power. His scouter's reading finally came in. If Elric had been in his first form, they would have been equals, but this new transformation gave him the edge when it came to power. Though, he'd need a cunning strategy if he wanted to win. Something told him that punching a walking pool of lava wasn't a very smart move. Maybe Walid had a hunger for fire, but that wasn't Elric's style at all. He was more of an ice cream guy.

"I don't know what the hell you are, but I'm not about to sit by and let you destroy this beautiful planet!" Elric barked, his aura flaring and beginning to drip from him like a black smoke even more profusely. He growled as he clenched his fists. Obviously brute force wouldn't be effective here, but he had a different plan. He focused some Ki into his fists, surrounding them in pure energy. He was ready to strike when the arrogant creature groaned in response.

"You? And who would you be to stop me? You're just a man!" The cackle irritated Elric as the magma man still dripped onto the floor. The forest around them was a blazing inferno already. Elric knew that there was no way he could even begin to attempt to put the fire out, but he could definitely stop whatever the hell this thing was causing it. He seemed like some kind of magma golem. His face and everything about him seemed an amorphous blob, a loose construction of a bubbling and oozing man. That didn't mean he couldn't obliterate him! Drawing back his right arm, Elric charged at the golem. He slammed his fist as hard as he could into the monster's head, slapping it right off it's shoulders and sending it into a molten pile on the ground.

"That was easier than I thought. Hell, maybe this transformation is stronger than I expected!" Elric laughed, ready to claim his victory already. As he stood, thinking of a way to put out the fire, the head of the golem reshaped out of more magma from the ground.

"You thought it'd be so easy? Bah, you are a stupid man-filth if I've ever seen one." the beast growled. "By fire, I'll purge you!" the beast growled back at the Zaun, slinging lava from his arms. Elric cut through the liquid rock with his Ki surrounded hands, slicing in an 'x' shape with both hands simultaneously which seemed to successfully disperse the magma into another pool on the ground.

"Right, I should have guessed as much. This isn't going to be that easy, I couldn't get so lucky. Then again, I do need to break in this new form, so I guess it's better this goes on longer." Elric said to himself. He was seething now, like he had before when he thought he was inches from death, except this time it was in anger. His nose twitched as he looked at the monster with a sneering scowl. He raised his palm towards the creature, figuring he'd have to blast the beast away. A medium sized sphere formed in his palm, quickly firing off towards the monster. Quick behind it followed two more, looking to make swiss cheese out of the beasts torso. He thought that the Ki would have a better chance of dealing some serious damage. That and he thought maybe there was something in the beasts chest keeping it all together. There wasn't, it was just a living mass of magma.

Surprisingly, this seemed to have even less of an effect on the creature than the first blow. He just laughed while the holes filled themselves back up. He rushed towards Elric and smashed him into the ground. So stunned by his ineffective attacks, Elric was unable to defend himself. He didn't know what to do. This thing wasn't hurt by either attack. Elric slammed his fists into the ground, cracking the earth around him as he jumped back on his feet. This thing had to have a weakness, but what could it be?

"How does it feel, puny man? To know that your life is coming to an early end." The golem laughed in his rugged tone. Elric glared back at him. He wasn't going to roll over and die here. He'd been through too much lately to let it end like this. At the hands of this weak bastard? He just had to think of an answer. As soon as he'd readied himself for another attack, an idea came to mind. If he could obliterate the entire golem at once, he'd unlikely be able to regenerate. It would be risky though, the only technique he knew that could do that was the Kamehameha wave, and it took a lot of energy just at it's base form. That's when he remembered the crystal that hung around his neck. It'd help him immensely.

If that Doctor Hemin from Earth wasn't as big of a quack as he seemed, this stone around his neck would let him amplify his Ki in a single attack, letting him unleash a blast with much greater power, without risking all of his energy in a single technique. This was the perfect tool for the job! Elric smirked, he'd enjoy this all too much.

"You know, for a squishy blob, you sure talk a lot of shit!" Elric chuckled, "I'm gonna enjoy removing you from existence." Elric said, his head lowering so that his face was shrouded. The only thing visible was his mouth and glowing red eyes.

"A lot of talk for a man who hasn't so much as scathed me! You'll burn like everything else in my path!" The amorphous elemental cooed.

"I was testing the waters before. In just two attacks, I've got you all figured out. I'd break it down to an exact science, but I think a demonstration would work wonders." Elric smirked. "Things, like you, whatever the hell you want to call yourself, have no place in the plane of the living. By the Hand of Shamshire, I'll dismiss you of your cursed life and relinquish your spirit into eternity!" Elric shouted, cupping both hands to his side. Bright blur Ki filled the area between his palms, rapidly expanding and bursting out from in between his fingers. He had a sadistic grin on his face as he laughed. The stone necklace dance out in front of him, glowing a bright orange. In a burst of speed, Elric rushed at the golem, disappearing from sight.

Blinking back into existence above the golem, Elric thrust his hands downward, releasing the intense azure beam from his palms, allowing it to ripple through the air so vivaciously that the earth below them shook, ash falling off the trees that weren't already burning. The elemental golem was consumed by the energy. The blast was angled so that, the blister he emerged from was erased from the ground. His Ki was so immense that it tore into the ground and swallowed up the leak from the planet's mantle, sealing it off so that the lava was cease flowing.

Elric stood floating in the air, looking at the enormous crater below him. All of the burning trees, all the running magma, every single last thing that surfaced because of that monster, it was all gone. He'd wiped it out with a single blast! This new power was great, but it could be a great danger. Like Chishan warned him before, he'd have to control it, which is exactly what happened here. Elric released the blast for just long enough for it to do the job, not long enough for it to begin cracking this planet. The last thing he wanted was the title of World-breaker. Grim Reaper would be easy to overcome in comparison to that! He took a look at his clenched and burnt fists and smiled.

"I'm ready."
