The Saiyan Inferno
New East City had become quite the destination place for the Chishan. Only a few weeks ago he had come down here with his brother, intent on stopping a warlock and his magically summoned demon. They had succeeded and in turn, saved the just finished town from utter destruction. It had also been the spot where they had met Monica, the human assassin attempting to attack Chishan while he was distracted.

He couldn’t help but chuckle as he stood on the roof of a restaurant. The street was bustling below him; people and cars alike were moving in all directions to go through their day. His eyes watched them even as his mind played out the night of the blonde woman’s interruption.

She was a firecracker, that one. Even during their time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, her aggressiveness could get the best of her. The saiyan had tried his best to get to the root of her anger issues but she had continued to push him away. He couldn’t really blame her; though he had freed himself from her belief that he was Matilda’s killer, there was still a level of mistrust there. Perhaps it was just the mistrust of a human against a saiyan. He couldn’t really pinpoint it himself and he didn’t dare invade her mind to take the answers for himself.

Nonetheless, she wanted to make things right in the world. Whether that involved killing or not was still to see. Old habits die hard and no doubt she was having a hard time forgetting her training as assassin. They hadn’t gone on any official missions yet, despite a few journeys to New North City and New West City. Nothing had tested them truly as a team…

Except for Varos. Their impromptu run in with the ancient deity had proved quite the task. And even though he claimed that they had barely done any damage to him, the synchronization of their movements against him had proved quite surprising. Apio and Chishan had trained and fought together for over a year now but she was just getting to know them. And yet, her body moved so fluidly with theirs in combat…

He was glad he had taken her in. He felt like Matilda would be proud of him for that. His smile softened a bit, touched by the sadness of her memory. But even with that, there was a twinkle of hope. The dragonballs would give him a chance to bring her back. It would set everything right in the world and bring back the love of his life. And it would give Monica back her older sister. It was the right thing to do; the perfect wish.

He just had to find a few more. One was being hunted down by Apio and Matilda and he had opted to find the three in the north. But, much to his surprise, by the time he had transmitted himself down to the planet, the three orbs had moved. Now they were all together in New East City. He could see them, marked in blinking yellow lights on his scouter. His eyes narrowed. Someone else is gathering them. That’s the only explanation, he concluded. His neck craned to look up at the city skyline. Judging on the range of his scouter and the distance between him and his targets, they were located in the middle skyscraper near the center of the city.

He had his mission. Swiftly and with an ease no untrained man could utilize, he leapt over the edge of the building and slid down its brick-layered side until he met the ground. With his boots square on the concrete, he reached back and pulled the hood of his cloak over his head. It wouldn’t help him in being stealthy if he was to be noticed by the public. He had to intrude the building with the utmost stealth…

He slid out of the alleyway and joined in the flowing stream of people, becoming one with the crowd that was moving towards the center of town. Little did he know that his day was about to become a lot more interesting...

He was surprised at the location the Dragonballs seemingly were. It was a tall skyscraper, one of the largest ones in the city. ‘Handrey Industries’ was lined near its peak, in big bold white letters that were lit up. Surely the architect wanted his structure to be noticed even in the darkness of the night.

His scouter, upon seeing the sign above the entrance, went to work quickly. Handrey Industries was established by a man named Edward Handrey. Originally it was a steel and iron corporation, built on selling products to railroads. But as time marched on, it changed its direction to incorporate the construction and invention of weaponry for the military. In the present time, they were one of the largest businesses in the weapons race, contributing over half a million products to the world’s military.

Chishan’s brow furrowed. What exactly does a weapons conglomerate want with the Dragonballs?

There was only one way to find out. He pushed his way through the glass doors and headed inside.

The layout of the lobby was fairly bland. There were no extravagant decorations or glass walls to view gardens. There was simply a woman receptionist sitting behind a round, marble desk in the center of the room. On the wall directly across from the entryway were three elevators, shut tight with shiny steel doors.

It all felt...out of place.

He walked up slowly to the front desk, the woman watching him with an odd lack of curiosity. As if someone with a cloak covering their face often came up to her during the day. He took note of that as he placed his arms on the desk and pulled the hood off of his head. He offered a warm smile, which was not returned.

“Hi there. I was wondering if I could arrange a meeting with your HR Director? I’m looking for a job and I think your company is the right fit for me.” He said, laying on the charm thick.

She was unmoved. “Sorry, there are no open positions at this time.” She said coldly, her face staying stoic.

Interesting, he thought as he collected himself. “Are you sure? I mean, I have all my information with me. I’d love to just talk to him or her about a future-...”
She cut him off. “Sir, there are no positions. And our HR manager is very busy with important meetings. He simply can’t take time off to ‘talk’. Now I will have to ask you to leave.” Not even a smile.

Admittedly, he was flabbergasted. Talking to this woman was like trying to move a mountain. But he needed to get something out of her; he understood that before a great heist, every thief needed to case a joint. And no doubt getting to some level of this structure would give him the chance to learn where the Dragonballs were. He cleared his throat.

“Miss…”

A screech, unlike anything he had felt before. It wasn’t just in his ears but in his mind, tearing his brain in half. His vision blurred as the woman’s fist rocketed forward and grabbed a hold of his neckline. With superhuman strength that did not look that part, she swung her arm up and sent the disoriented saiyan through the ceiling. He tore a hole through the top of the room and the bottom of the next level quickly before continuing upwards. For every second of time passing, the saiyan was splintering another level of the building as his ascent continued. His travel finally ended around the seventeenth floor, crashing through the cemented ground before crumbling into a pile of rubble.

The receptionist floated up slowly from the hole he had created, apparently using ki to elevate herself. As she hung over the gaping opening, her cold and calculated eyes were set on the body lying on the floor.

“Thank you for your interest in our company. But as I said before, we have no openings at this time. Correction; you’ve created a few new openings but no doubt those will be filled in no time. Thank you for visiting Handrey Industries and have a pleasant trip to Hell.” Her voice was so monotonous, lacking any humor or emotion. Her eyes turned away from the body for a moment to look around the extent of the floor, which was completely devoid of any substance. It was simply an empty space with floor, ceiling and windows.

Whatever the woman was going to do next was interrupted by a large chunk of rubble crashing into her back and sending her flying forwards. She was startled, her face contorting for the first time in an expression. Surprise. She crashed against the ground and slid along its stony surface. As she rose to her knees, glowing blue eyes looking for the source of the attack, she found the body that she thought dead rising out of stony grave.

“I can see that now.” The Lightning Lord said slowly, his body already beginning to glow. Sparks of electricity crackled to life around him, flashing bright and fast. Calm, powerful eyes glared back at the receptionist, emeralds smoldering with emotion. “Empty space to keep up the front. I should say I’m impressed; any normal straggler that came in surely would be dead from your attack. But I’ve been keeping my power level hidden, so as not to attract attention from unwanted interventions. There was no way you’d be able to tell who I was or how powerful I truly am.” As the words slid out of his mouth his aura ignited around him, tearing the ground up in a perfect circle around him. “My name is Chishan, a saiyan warrior…”

“And you’ve made the last mistake you’re going to make.”

He was upon her before she could even see, his glowing form above her with an arm pulled back. As she finally came to realize where he was, his palm was on her face and she was suddenly falling. His strength and weight pushed on her, aided by gravity, and the two now created another set of holes as he face slammed her down through the floors he himself has just traveled.

She didn’t grunt, she didn’t scream. No doubt she was feeling every inch of the concrete on her back before giving way from their wild descent. The speeding bullet that was the duo crashed through the top of the lobby once more and then through the floor. Underneath, apparently, was yet another level to the building. But this one…this one was filled with people. They screamed and panicked as the slam came to an end on this hidden level, the super saiyan still holding the woman against the ground as he crouched over her.

His head rose slowly to look around, seeing the terrified looks of the scientists.

“Well then. There is definitely more than meets the eye.”
