The Saiyan Inferno
|
The place had been picked. And it was an ironic place as well. The dusty wastes were just the same as when he had last been here. The brown sand covered the land for as far as the eye could see. Stony formations dotted the skyline, natural pillars that stretched up for the sky. How many years had it been? Only one, in real world time. But with the longevity that comes from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, it felt like so much longer. Chishan stared out at the wastes, his hair gently blowing in the wind. He could still remember the face of the sword-wielding man hailing from Avalon. Strega, the man that had beaten him within an inch of his life. What an epic clash that had been, resulting in more destroyed pieces of nature than Chishan had yet to see. Last he had seen him, he had just started a budding relationship with Levana. His gaze lifted to the stars above. I can only hope that the two of them found a place up there to call home and find peace, he mentally prayed. Though he found no answer or sign of his hope, a feeling deep in his gut gave him the peace of mind to move past his memories. As he turned around, he found Apio setting the last of the dragonballs onto the ground. When they were near each other, they gave off a bright glow that the saiyan had never seen inanimate objects do before. It must have been something about the latent magical energies formed inside the stones during their creation. It was quite the sight to see, like seven honey-colored jewels set against backlighting. “So…now what?” The younger brother asked, crossing his arms over his chest. “There’s a little summoning spell that needs to be said and then he’ll appear.” Chishan explained, stepping up to stand over the spheres. Monica stepped up to stand beside Apio. “Well I hope you know the spell. Or else we’ll look real dumb just standing here.” The Lightning Lord grinned. “Of course. These things are easy to find if you look for them.” Apio sniffed. “Well then. Let’s get this moving.” The older saiyan closed his eyes and brought his arms up to either side, his palms facing ahead of him. With a deep inhalation, he centered his focus and his mind together before he opened his eyes again. “Eternal Shenron! By your name, I summon you forth!” The dragonballs began to pulse, flashing bright quickly before darkening. And speaking of darkening, the sky above seemed to have been caught under a cloak. As if a solar eclipse had suddenly and mysteriously occurred, the night sky painted itself across the ceiling of the planet and the land around fell hushed from the sudden change. All of a sudden, the seven spheres seemed to melt into a single blast of light that sent the trio back a step. And from the pool of amber light came a sudden bolt that darted up into the sky. It weaved back and forth as if it had a mind of its own. Chishan and crew were far too blinded to be able to see, their arms covering their faces as the air around them swirled. It was as if they had summoned a typhoon and it was unleashing all hell in their general vicinity. And almost as quickly as it had appeared, it was over. The Saiyan Inferno dropped his arms to his sides and looked up to the object that had appeared out of nowhere. It was a massive dragon, unlike anything he had ever seen before. Its serpentine form coiled and weaved through the air as if it was held up by its own power, though it had no wings to speak of. Its bright green scales seemed to glimmer, like catching the sun’s reflection on the ocean’s surface. The soft underbelly that ran underneath its form was a pale tan and rippled every few feet or so. Four massive limbs sprouted from its body and hung in the air, each one sporting four toes with sharp black talons. A line of teal hair ran up its back straight to its head, disappearing right before its neck. It stared down at them with glowing red eyes. Its mouth hung agape, showcasing its sharp teeth to the world. Whispers popped out of its long snout, flowing in the air currents as if they were in water. At the top of its head were two massive stag horns, rising out of natural growths. ![]() “Who is it that disturbs my slumber? The ancient dragon rumbled seemingly out of nowhere, its mouth barely moving to mimic speaking. The Lightning Lord stepped forward, catching the attention of Monica and Apio. “I did, mighty Shenron. I have a wish that I would like granted!” The dragon’s eyes seemed to narrow as its attention was turned to the saiyan. ”Speak.” “Quite some months ago…nearly a year ago, the woman I loved was lost. Killed during a freak accident. I’ve worked hard and long to bury my feelings and get over her and, to a point, I have. But after I ran into her sister here…” He said, gesturing to the blonde girl behind him. “I couldn’t stop thinking about what I could do to make things right. Matilda Belle’s life was lost because she was with me. I simply want to give her a second chance at life. So please, Shenron, bring her back to the land of the living!” He wasn’t sure what he expected. A pop and then Matilda was standing there. A giant plume of smoke that took the shape of the former security officer and then solidified. Whatever it was, he expected there to be some magical effect that would bring the woman he cared for back to this realm. But as the seconds ticked by, nothing happened. His brow furrowed towards the dragon looming above, who was seemingly staring off into the distance. Just before the saiyan was going to speak again, the all-powerful serpent spoke. “What you have asked of me is beyond my power. Simply put, I cannot bring back a person who is not dead.” It was indescribable, the feeling of his skin prickling with goose bumps at the sheer knowledge that had been dropped on him. He felt like a weight had been pulled from his core and his knees shook slightly. He could hear Monica gasp behind him but that was about all he could hear. A rushing, similar to a river, was passing through past his eardrums and filling his mind. “She’s…not dead?” The dragon nodded slowly. “The event that you speak of, the freak accident, did not take the life of Matilda Belle. In fact, it did not take any of the lives that were caught in the radius. They were victims of a time slip, created by a machine from a different reality. It travelled here and due to interference from hopping between timelines, it appeared aboard your ship. Matilda Belle was caught in the neuron web and sent back to the original leaving point of the machine. She is alive, and well, in another timeline.” Monica rushed forward past Chishan and he could see the line of tears streaming down her face as she pointed up to the massive serpent. “Then bring her back here! Please!” Despite its face barely moving, it was obvious that a solemn wave had come across the dragon’s features. “I cannot. My power is limited by my creator and I was created with the magical energy to grant certain miracles. But I cannot transcend realities.” “Why not? You’re supposed to be all powerful!” Apio snapped. “Power is in the eye of the beholder. And I am controlled by regulations that allow me freedom to grant certain wishes while unable to grant others. Making snap comments will grant you nothing!” The dragon snapped back, lips pulling back to further bare its fangs. Monica was raring up to fight the dragon further when Chishan stepped forward, placing a hand on her shoulder. Her head spun around to look at him, meeting his gaze. He stared hard back at her, like a teacher to their ill-enraged student. It said ‘Let it go. There’s nothing we can do.’ Her face wrinkled with rebellion and anger but she noticeably bit down on her lips, halting any further protests. “If you can’t grant that wish, can you tell us other ways to open a door to that timeline?” Chishan asked. The dragon’s brow raised a bit.“Is that your wish?” “Call it…advice on an impossible wish.” He said, shrugging slightly. “Hm. Clever. As far as your question goes, there may be other magical sources that can be utilized to create a rift between this realm and another one. As far as what those sources are, I can’t lend any advice about. But I can tell you that there is a chance your wish can come to fruition through other methods.” The saiyan turned his attention back to Monica. “See? There’s still a chance. And she’s not dead. Both of our fears have been resolved.” She nodded slowly though she kept her eyes off of him. He couldn’t tell if it was because she was angry or still crying. “Now unless you have any other questions, is there another wish that I could grant?” The dragon asked. It actually sounded rather impatient. It didn’t take long for Chishan to think of another. “Yeah. I’m looking for katchin. Can you tell me of a place where I can locate a source of it?” “Kelioux can provide some insight into your search.” The Saiyan Inferno smiled. His assumption had been correct; the libraries of Kelioux could help him find the rare metal. “ Your wish has been granted. I shall now take my leave, Teras Kasi.” That halted him, his eyes widening. “Wait…you know what I am?! What else do you know?” The Eternal Dragon chuckled, a loud booming sound that shook the ground below their feet. ““Perhaps that should have been your wish. Farewell.” Shenron’s entire body became encompassed in a golden light again, shining down for all to see for miles. As Chishan covered his eyes just enough to keep himself from being blinded, he could see the figure shrink down until it was roughly the size of a boulder. And then it split apart into seven separate globes, spinning in the air in a circle above them. BANG The sound of an explosion tore through the air and a shockwave shot in every direction as the dragonballs suddenly, and quickly, split from their practiced dance and shot off into separate directions. In a blink of an eye they were gone, soaring off to their next resting place until they became active again. Used to grant a wish yet again. WC: 1,816 |
