Tap tap tap tap, the sound of metal on concrete floor echoed throughout the hall as soldiers ran to through to their designated location. It seems something had caused quite a commotion in the front of the building. The soldiers gathered into a phalanx and turned the corner, they stopped and readied their guns and aimed straight ahead. Some soldier's gasped and others let a sense of horror fill their minds as the sight before them filled them with great fear. "What the hell!?" Barked one of the soldiers. A bloody massacre was what they found, soldiers and severed limbs littered the hallway as blood was splattered everywhere. The lighting in the hall was damaged as it flickered to stay alive. The soldiers looked around for the culprit of the calamity but all they found were the dead and those still clinging to life but with not much left to live for. "What did this!? Who did this!?" One of the soldier's demanded, expecting an answer but found none. The soldiers slowly moved forward into the hall not knowing what to expect as they checked on their fallen comrades for any clues for what could have done this. One of the unscathed soldiers kneel down beside a wounded soldier, he appeared to have been impaled through the chest, but the wound was cauterized. "What happened?" He asked the dying soldier who clung to life. The dying soldier went to speak but he coughed up blood as a response. He lifted a hand to point, pointing behind his unharmed comrade as his eyes filled with horror. "That thing...it came out of nowhere...it...it's...not human." The dying soldier said with a Cheyne–Stokes breathing pattern. "Indeed I am not." Came softly from the shadows. The living soldiers quickly reformed their phalanx and aimed their guns down the hallway where the voice came from, the sound of light foot steps echoed through. The soldiers began barking orders. "Place your hands over your head and get down on your knees!" the lead soldier ordered. The sound of the foot steps soon had an image to attach itself to as a bloody visage stepped out of the shadows and the thing responsible for the heinous acts revealed himself. A mechanized figure of a man appeared before them covered from head to toe in the blood of the fallen comrades of the soldiers, a glowing orange retina in the center of his face glowed through the blood that was splattered across his metal face. "You want me to put my hands...on my head?" He slowly began to comply with the soldier's orders, lifting his hands from his side and raised them to his sides as they made their way up to the top of his head. "Like this?" His haunting voice was beginning to graven on the soldier's minds as his hands rested firmly on the top of his head. "Down on your knees!" Barked the leader of the soldiers. The robotic being didn't move, it seems that last demand was hard to compute. "My knees?" The android cooed. The mechanized menace looked down at the floor and then back at the soldiers. "I'm afraid I kneel before no man." The android spoke coldly. "Drop 'em!" The leader demanded and almost instantly the soldier's began to open fire on the bloodied android. "Fools!" The android yelled as he quickly launched himself forward pulling his hands away from the top of his hand and whizzed through the hail of gunfire by strafing at incredible speeds. He entered the vicinity of the soldier's and then quickly broke through their phalanx by quickly beheading a soldier on the far right with a swift chopping motion of his flattened hand as a geyser of blood sprayed from the open neck of the beheaded soldier. The soldier's quickly tried aiming their weapons at the machine but he was already on the move when they resumed opening fire on where their target was. The android appeared behind another soldier near the center and suddenly impaled him through the chest with a stiff headbutt. Blood squirted from the soldier's wound as the android quickly whipped his head back and forth to look at the remaining three soldiers as he plunged his hands through the hole in back of the soldier he just impaled and ripped him open like shrink wrapped packaging. "W-w-what the hell is this thing!?" The leader soldier with nothing but fear in his voice stuttered out. The soldier aimed at the robot and fired his fully automatic rifle into the machine's chest, and while some were deflected the machine made a wincing motion as one of the bullets seemed to impale him right in the sternum. "I got him!" The leader soldier foolishly exclaimed. "Did you?" The machine coldly responded. The android covered his hand in bolts of glowing orange ki and quickly grabbed the face of the soldier that fired on him and scalded every layer of flesh off until he his face was nothing but burnt layers of muscle tissue and pieces of skull poking out. The other two soldier's watched this whole scene transpire in horror and began to retreat. "Get the hell out of here!!" one of the frightened soldier's quipped. "There is no escaping damnation!" The android yelled The android surrounded his hand once again in brilliant orange ki as he launched the blast at the two remaining soldiers as it engulfed them in hellfire and they were soon gone in the explosion that followed. "Not from...WiLight Legends." The machine coldly stated to his audience of the dead. WiLight began to walk down the hall to continue on his purpose for being in this compound. He turned the hall and before him stood a set of double doors twice his height made of solid steel. He examined the doors and came upon a computer panel at the side of the door that acted as the medium to access what was behind this door. "Well doesn't look like I'll be getting through this way." Suddenly the door began to open, WiLight took a giant leap back and prepared himself for the worse. The double doors opened from the center and revealed a being standing in the center of the doorway. The purple creature stood there several feet taller than WiLight with it's cold metallic exterior shining in the bright lights of the laboratory that was behind him. "Who you supposed to be? The doorman?" WiLight stated as sarcastically as he could. "Oh, you could call him that, but I much prefer to call him my enforcer, or if you want his real name, Berserker it is.." A man in a white lab coat said as he stepped from behind his giant purple monstrosity that stood unmoving. The scientist looked at WiLight and suddenly his eyes filled with surprise. "A cadaver in an exoskeleton suit? I've heard rumors of machines like you existing...but never have I seen one in such pristine condition...albeit a little bloody for my taste." The Mad Scientist stated, the words sent a shock through WiLight as he realized the mad scientist knew something about him, and that made him important. "After I kill your machine, I'm coming for you doctor..." He trailed off, not knowing the scientist's name. "Fivel, Doctor Fivel. And I'm afraid you won't be living long enough to ask me anything other than my name." The doctor cackled as he snapped his finger at his giant brute of a machine bent it's knees and launched itself forward with a shoulder tackle and sent WiLight skidding on his feet down the hall. "Well, this will be amusing." WiLight quipped as he examined his chest where the machine tackled him as blood was dripping out of the bullet hole in his sternum. "Well then, let's play shall we?" WiLight jumped into the air and cut the distance between himself and Berserker and landed a well placed kick right into the collarbone. Berserker stumbled back a few feet but quickly regained his composure and swung his heavy handed fist right back at WiLight and crashed it against his face with a sickening thud. WiLight hit the floor on his hands and knees as he tried to pull himself up to a vertical base but Berserker delivered a double axe handle attack that drills WiLight into the ground causing the ground below to break. WiLight struggles to regain his composure but Berserker places his foot on top of WiLight's head and began to put pressure in an effort to crush WiLight's skull. "Ahhh!!!" WiLight screamed as the pressure began to become too much, but he wasn't down for the count yet as he slammed his palms into the ground and fired a beam of energy that propelled his body upward and out of Berserker's attempt at crushing his head like a grape. Berserker loses his footing as WiLight stops himself in mid air around Berserker's head and delivered a spinning roundhouse kick that sent Berserker crashing into the nearest wall in the hallway. WiLight lands on his feet and quickly charges a ball of energy in his hand and fires it at Berserker's head! The blast erupts and covers Berserker in a cloud of thick black smoke. WiLight turns to Dr. Fivel and scoffs. "Was that your great creation? You must feel a burning sensation of failure right now. Now...tell me what you know about me." WiLight calmly states as he begins to walk towards Dr. Fivel at a deliberate pace. Suddenly from the smoke the giant purple Berserker pulls through, his clothes were ragged and torn from the ki blast attack but he was still in working order. Berserker lunged at WiLight who threw his arms up and the two androids locked up! Berserker tries using his size advantage to overpower WiLight but the smaller android is capable of holding his own in the strength department against Berserker. Berserker's jaw begins to open and a pink glow begins to flicker between his metallic jaws. WiLight grunts as he tries to figure out his next move as Berserker is getting closer and closer to firing his attack. WiLight unlocks his hands from Berserker's arms and lunges on top of his shoulders quickly wrapping his fingers on the top of Berserker's mouth and he violently pulls up with all of his strength and unhinges the top of Berserker's head from the rest of his lower jaw and immediately puts an end to the dreaded android. "What!?!?" Dr. Fivel struggles to accept reality as WiLight tosses the top of Berserker's head down the hall. "Now...talk." WiLight says flatly as he jumps off his former opponent's shoulders as the dead machine falls over and hits the floor with a metallic thump. Dr. Fivel begins to shake nervously as he begins to back away into his lab. "But...But...Look! We can make a deal! I have this weather controlling device! It changes the weather! We could rule the world together! You could be my new right hand man!" Dr. Fivel pleas as he begins to back away into his lab. "Talk!" WiLight yells aggressively, losing his patience. "Uh...You used to be alive!" Dr. Fivel screams, hoping the answer would stop his imminent death. WiLight stops at the exclamation. Alive? Wasn't he alive now? WiLight tightly gripped his fingers into a fist and continued to walk forward. "Not good enough, keep talking." WiLight said with all the calculation of a stone cold killer. "Y-you...You were modified in a lab! Just like this! They took living tissue and stuck it inside a machine. Enhanced every facet of you to create the perfect killer. You're an advanced model...perhaps the most advanced I've ever seen! I-I-I..." Dr. Fivel tried to back away some more but is stopped by his computer console that lined the wall behind him. He had nowhere else to go. "Is that all you know?" WiLight said as he stops in front of Dr. Fivel who seemed to be stuttering to find anything else to say. "N-No! You're...You're..." Dr. Fivel tried to come up with something else but the length of time it took him was wearing on WiLight's patience. "Too late!" WiLight exclaimed as he drove his flattened hand straight through the center of Dr. Fivel's face and out the back of his skull. Blood splattered onto the computer console as WiLight looked up at it, raised his hand up lifting Dr. Fivel's body up with it as he fired a ki blast into the computer causing it to explode, destroying anything the doctor had planned. WiLight ripped his hand out of the currently deceased Dr. Fivel's head and turned to make his exit. He began to slowly walk away, paying no mind to the chaos of the building that was slowly begin to burn around him. "There's nothing left here for me." WiLight said as he entered the shadows of the hall and vanished as quickly as he appeared. WC: 2199 |

“We didn't come looking for your father.” the other one spoke finally, removing his sunglasses. His free hand flew to his breast pocket, retrieving a white slip of paper. He offered it, Videl taking it without thinking. “Your dad is the worlds martial arts champion, and strong enough to protect us from that monster. He's already agreed to help us with the.......event that began recently. We asked him about the second strongest person her knew, he pointed us to you. Your participation in our project is voluntary, but it would further the effort to make the human race the masters of our own destiny once again. Should you wish to help, you can go to that address on the card by tomorrow morning. If you don't care, forget the fact you ever saw us.” The glasses immediately returned to the mans face, the suspicious individual turning on a heel and walking back towards their vehicle. The second individual nodded before joining his partner. Again Videl looked to the card, reading the address before turning to go back inside.... She stared at the building, eyebrow raised. This wasn't what she'd been expecting from shady government agents. The address had lead her to a small unmarked brick building next to a deli in a suburb of Satan city. It was either a brilliant place to house some sort of elaborate murder party, or what a shady government agency thought passed for inconspicuous. Looking around, She noted nearly a dozen other people looking at similar cards before crossing the street and then entering the structure. Swallowing her doubt, Videl walked across the street, reaching the door before pulling it open. The smell of medical sterility assaulted her, it wasn't so much a small as it was a lack of smell. It made the place seem cold despite the lack of a temperature difference. The immediate entrance was merely a stair case, leading down a few dozen feet to a wide open area, twenty large objects were situated around a large column. Wires ran from the column to the other objects. It all looked very scientific and, of course, was immediately above her level of understanding. The metal catwalk clicked against her shoes as she began to descend to the lower level. The gathered individuals at the bottom, seated and looking irritated, looked up, Videl noting the agent that had given her the card standing before them. “Ah, Ms. Satan. There should only be a few more and then we can begin. Please, join us.” The agent spoke, gesturing to one of the empty chairs. Videl nodded her understanding before approaching one of the empty chairs, taking a seat behind two older women, both talking to each other. The prodigy wasn't sure why, but both of them looked familiar to her. Looking to some of the others, Videl was able to pick out other people who looked familiar to her. She couldn't place the names, but some of these were people her father had taken photos with. Wait.... She looked back to the women in front of her. Both were professional cyclists, both had previously won the that bike race they did every year on papaya island. Looking to her left she recognized two or three professional battle ball players. Realization dawning on her, Videl began to look around, eying the others. Not all of them were recognizable, which probably meant not all of them were professional athletes. The door at the top of the stairs opened again, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. Several men came down the stairs, some of them armed with combat knives of varying style and make. They said nothing as they took to their seats, looking to the agent. Now that all the seats were filled.... “Now that everyone has arrived, let's get down to business. How many of you know about the current situation?” The agent asked, removing his glasses again. The room remained silent until one of the men with the knives raised their hands. “Twenty four hours ago Earth defense force troops were attacked by outside forces. Some sources are predicting this will lead to an all out galactic war.” “Thank you very much, Mr. Covacs. As some of you have more than likely guessed, I am a representative of Earths government. The job of my associates and I is to make sure Earth comes out of this thing on top.” “There's no guarantee that's going to lead to war....” One the battle ball players spoke, getting a murmuring of agreement from some of the others. A scoff followed, one of the other knife holders looking to the battle ball player. “At the end of the day, as long as someone has something the other wants, even if it's just a dirtball like our planet, they'll fight to the death over it.” “Thank you Mr. Kowalski. Regardless of what happens, the department I work for has taken certain steps to ensure that we can win. From Advanced cybernetics, to new android designs, to some more.....questionable....projects. I am here today to speak to you about Project Paragon, our governments attempt to awaken humanity to its innate abilities....without the life time of training.” Videl frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. “Those latent abilities you're talking about wouldn't be the light show fighters use at the world tournament, would they? My fathers told me about cheap tricks like that, I'd think you'd trust him on that. Cause I doubt you're going to scare off aliens with a light show.” “You ever fought a Saiyan, Missy?” Covacs asked, looking to Videl. “I can assure you, that flight ain't achieved with wires or tricks. Them lights? They hurt. They burn. I've seen a unit of men get wiped out by ONE of them with a single one of them....lasers.” Videl opened her mouth to argue, but was stopped by the agent. “I'm not here to ask you to believe me. I'm here to ask you to participate. You all represent the most physically fit people on our planet. Whether it be world class athletes, martial arts masters, or professional soldiers. I'm not going to lie to you. Some of the medical companies working on the tech were destroyed by an outside source before their research was completed, as such a lot of the project is based on theory. There is a chance you will die. But everyone of you who participates will be advancing the cause of humanity.” The agent stopped, the sound of chairs scooting along linoleum tile following not soon after. Many of the people gathered rose to their feet, filing out of the room. Briefly Videl considered doing the same, insulted by the fact they would call her down here for this...but something compelled her to stay in her seat. She'd always been curious about those tricks people used. Like in the tournaments where there couldn't possibly be any wires or pyrotechnics set up in advance. After a few minutes only twenty people remained in the room, Videl counting herself among them. The agent placed his glasses on again, nodding at those who remained. “The procedure will begin momentarily, Sterile clothing will be provided too you. Once you're suited up, you'll be placed in the pods, which will keep you safely knocked out. I must warn you, however, to ensure it's worked and not adversely affected your health, the pods will perform a series of tests once the procedure is done. It'll take 3 months to ascertain your health.” The group remained silent, Videl not personally concerned with three months of her time being spent in a glorified trashcan. She'd wasted more time than that training in the mountains before. The suits the agent had spoken of were little more than spandex leotards or trunks. No words were exchanged as the group climbed into their pods one by one, Videl going last. Inside each pod were some high tech looking gizmos and what Videl could only describe as a combination bed couch. Silently she climbed in, taking a seat. The pod door whined loudly as it closed, the pod making a high pitched whine before all faded to darkness. .... The whining returned, someones voice intermingled in. Confusion came quickly, Videl attempting to sit up. Her head screamed at her with pain as soon as she began to move, the human instead choosing to fall back into position on the bed....couch....thing. Slowly the misty haze of uncertainty began to lift. The whining had been the pod opening again....so what was the talking? She glanced to the side, realizing a pair of speakers had been the source of the voice. “ower levels beyond minimum safe operational level, emergency resuscitation in progress. Power levels beyond minimum safe operational level, emergency resuscitation in progress. Power level-” Videl looked back to herself, noticing a few plastic lines running from the sides of the pod to her. Some of them were meant to measure heart rate and brain activity....at least two of them were needles injected into her skin. Grunting she wiped the electrodes off of her, shakily removing the needles from their position. The searing pain in her head had dulled considerably in the last thirty seconds, this time she sat up successfully. This.....was not the room she remembered. This building was smaller, walls lined with metal. More importantly, there was no catwalk leading to the other floor. Slowly she climbed out of the pod, legs buckling slightly as she put her weight on them. She caught herself on her pod, righting herself moments later. Again she looked around the room, confusion returning when there was no one else around. Turning, she found her pod was the only one present in the room. “What in the hell?” Videl asked herself, shuffling over to the door. The door was made of metal too, with some kind of valve on it. Her hands wrapped around the circular object, her arms spinning slowly. The valve clanked and banged as she spun it, releasing some kind of seal on the door. With a grunt, Videl pushed against it, opening the door to view the outside. Instead of the suburb she recalled, there was only a field of snow as far as the eye could see, which wasn't very far given how dark it was. Spandex leotard doing very little to keep her warm, Videl yanked the door closed again and re-sealed it. What in the hell had happened? WC: 1755 |
