The cold in the air dug deep. It pierced right through his clothing, and burrowed through his artificial skin. Every single passing second, every drop of sand in an hour glass was only more opportunity for it to seep in. Somewhere, somewhere across the continent, in some dusty hallway, there was a grandfather clock. Its pendulum swung, the periodic motion striking against the same point over and over without fail. Like a wrecking ball it barreled through the air, and so too did the coldness, as it sought to go even further, until it penetrated his very being. What merciless elements. Juch’s boots left imprints in the emaciated shoreline, their movements deliberate and sluggish. The salted air enveloped him, teasing him, urging him to go on. And yet here he stood, out in the middle of nowhere. This island wasn’t too far from his spaceship, but it was quiet enough to give him some pause. His usual tactic was to just sit in his office and spend some time alone in the astral realm, but it had proven rather ineffective for the past few weeks. He stood with his hands clasped behind his back; a gentle breeze tugged at the tufts of white hair on his noggin as he exhaled. If he squinted with those large goggles of his, he could imagine Kame House off into the distance. That little pink building entrenched on an equally small piece of land held just a small fraction of his memories. They weren’t the best of times, nor the worst of times; however, it certainly was a simpler time. The receding waves bid him adieu as he shifted away from the beach and onto the wild grass. This whole trip to Earth had been nothing but heartache thus far. Alas, alas. ----- Juch Word Count: 298 Total Word Count: 298 |

“Tomoko, I no longer wish to be your Second-In-Command.” Why?! Why?! had she said it?! It wasn't the truth, of course it hadn't been the truth. She didn't not want Tomoko to be her Commander. Tomoko, had been kind to her; Tomoko had bought her direction just as she'd promised to. It wasn't right! It wasn't right! It wasn't right!! And, now she was alone, and It was all his fault concluded the Experiment; he'd pushed all her buttons again. Now she was wandering West City aimlessly by herself. Oh, how she hated to be alone. “Presents! Presents fixed everything!” she shouted randomly, it was at the top of her lungs too. It brought about some unwanted attention but she didn't care, she had a crazed grin on her face that threatened to consume it in it's entirety. The numerous shoppers who were going about their business turned towards the crazed grinning child with looks of confusion, and condescension. They, they were going to steal her idea and buy presents too; they were all going to buy her presents... They should die, they should all just die~ Ariel swept a lock of her hair from her face as she extended her right arm out at them a huge blue orb forming at her palm. “Aahh!" The streets rung with the people's terrified cries as they turned and scattered running for cover, and all the while Ariel laughed dementedly. She'd find her a present; the perfect present. The Experiment clicked her scouter-like accessory and the device whirled into life in search of strong power levels and alien technology. The device stopped searching and a crimson aura enveloped the young victim of science. The device led her too an island a short distance from Kame Island and once there she found what appeared to be an oldish man with a long white beard and messy hair. He didn't read that strongly but the Experiment had learned how to suppress her ki while on this world and it wasn't weird to be laying on ones back such a short distance from the turtle hermits home. Ariel gracefully fell atop the sand; she swept the black hood of her Shadowguard cloak from her face with an innocent smile taking root on it as she approached the old man. “O-Old man are you strong?” she asked, her tail sweeping sand like a set of windscreen wipers. “I'm looking for strong people for a - well for a friend.” “Oh, please tell me you're strong; I'll let you touch my Demon tail. Old people like that kind of thing, right?” she asked, her only point of reference being the Turtle Hermit. ----------------------------- WC - 446 TWC - 446

It would seem that even reality had its own surprises waiting for him. How fascinating. The sky, the clear blue sky, what had injured you so to spill such crimson across your figure? The wound swelled in size, bloated and disfigured, until the blood of the heavens dripped down to the mortals. The glow landed, revealing a feminine form, with a dainty little cloak to boot. She had come for him, it seemed. Why? What business could someone like her have with somebody like him? The thought had crossed his mind that someone on Cactaylisma may have sent a message of sorts, but a messenger from those parts isn’t usually that flamboyant with their opening statement. What a curious little lady. Her person reflected in the ten different lenses of his goggles. Her request was quite unusual, but it drew him in. Her tail was swinging. The blood red aura that had wrapped around her had disappeared long ago, but in its wake, a faint, parchment thin tingle of mystery was enough to warrant his attention. Who was she? Why did she desire ‘strong’ friends? What does ‘strong’ mean, in her eyes? Her tail was swinging. She claimed it was a demon tail. Did she know Lucifer? How does her logic flow from one point to the other? She stuttered, was she nervous? If so, why? Oh my, my; it’s been a while since he met someone this new. That tail of hers, the thin, supple appendage swung from side to side in periodic oscillation. It was abundantly clear. The grandfather clock had come. Juch gave her a smile in return; it wasn’t a large one by any means, but it was a warm one. He cocked his head to the side; an inquisitive look fell upon his face as his fingers cupped his chin in thought. It was like a professor addressing the question of one of his students with a question of his own, “What’s the difference between a friend and a strong friend?” his voice deep, guttural, hoarse, but he maintained that inviting grin, “Or, better yet, why have friends at all?” Poke, poke, goes the blunt stick against this young stranger’s mind. How would it respond? ----- Juch Word Count: 387 Total Word Count: 387 + 298 = 685 |

Ariel gave the old man a puzzled look as he returned her question with his own question; she didn't know what to say, Tomoko hadn't told her why she was gathering these people. The Experiment lowered her head and gazed upon the golden sands. She stared at the floor as though transfixed; there was silence and all that could be heard was the whirling of the wind. Ariel returned her attention to the man before her despite still struggling to find her answer. “I don't know, people are prone to hurting others to advance their own goals. So, why open up when you know you're going to get hurt? People lie, they hurt, and they steal.” she declared, at a whisper-like tone. Why did anyone want friends when they knew they'd later get hurt by them? Ariel began to claw at her own pink locks trying to tear out strands of hair. “It doesn't make sense! it doesn't make sense!” she ranted in her own agitation. “As, long as I have her I'll be fine.“ she told herself. The Experiment looked to old man; she wouldn't be surprised if she found a puzzled expression on his face at her outburst. But, if he went to try and sell her on how friends were good for everyone then he'd soon find himself assaulted with her ki sword. “My names Ariel.” She told him, hoping to swiftly change the topic. “What's yours?” ---------------- WC -240 TWC - 686 |

She fell silent. Hm, look at that. Was it a hard question? Perhaps, perhaps. But that was fine. He appreciated when other people used that noggin of theirs, no matter how straightforward or complex the problem was. He was patient; he can wait. Juch watched those strands of pink flutter in the breeze, as his arms returned to behind his back. At least she seemed to be taking his words seriously. When she finally did answer, her voice almost blended in with the howls of the wind. His strain in filtering out the background noise was rewarded with a few choice words, with a fascinating glimpse in her reasoning. She started with wanting to be ‘friends’, and now she’s questioning the very notion of that invitation just a few moments ago. Hee hee, how amusing; she didn’t seem as nervous as before, the professor noted to himself with a silent chuckle. She just annihilated her own motivation for this conversation to take place—this entire debacle was so very surreal, it was almost comical. It took his mind off of the responsibilities, and for that alone, he was grateful enough to continue. My, my, why so serious? You wear your heart on your sleeve, whether you realize it or not, don’tcha know? She was muttering to herself; the decibels were not enough to grace his auditory sensors, but all well. Such was how the ways things go. Now, he made his next move. The chessboard was beginning to form, and he was already on the offensive. Would her defenses hold, or would they allow another opening? “Juch,” the two syllables he drawled out as he rotated his body to the side, his gaze moving from the now self identified ‘Ariel’, “So, do you still want to be friends?” ----- Juch Word Count: 298 Total Word Count: 298 + 685 = 983 |

“I-I wasn't really looking for me.” she answered, her tone quiet; filled with nothing but her honesty despite her own nerves. She'd already given the old-man her definition of friendship, and of people in general; he was sure to flee now. Though, there was a chance he'd heard she held a few exceptions. The Experiment pried her emerald-green gaze from the golden sands of the beach and gave the old-man her undivided attention. 'He's strange,' she'd already concluded it. Yet, the young victim of science knew enough to know that strange didn't always mean bad. In fact she was of the opinion that people were drawn to the unknown, and she certainly felt an odd pull at the man's mannerisms. Still, he was nothing like that old pervert; Master Roshi. Or, maybe he wanted to have more then her tail? B-But what else could she offer? Her body wasn't hers to offer, the Commander was the one who'd saved her and gathered all these people together in the first place. “I-I guess so.” she answered quietly, her tone of voice like a whisper in the wind. “I mean if you're strong?” she added, with her tone having much more volume. Ariel's emerald-green gaze searched for his own, he probably thought she was weird; she thought she was weird. She knew that now was the time to ask him of his past but if she did that then she'd have to tell him of hers too. ---------------------- WC - 245 TWC - 931 |

How confusing. So if he understood this correctly, then she was looking for a friend for somebody else? Was it part of her job? The probability was low, but the option was still there. But then she could have just mentioned it at the very beginning, instead of beating around the bush like that, implying that it was she herself that needed some companionship. So, what’s the complete story behind this? The android felt that there was something that this Ariel person was withholding, whether consciously or not. And thus, the plot thickened. Wonderful, wonderful, this was now getting more and more interesting. Juch didn’t speak much after Ariel threw a question back at him, returning to the original topic at hand. One could say that the two of them just frolicked around in a large circle, but it was clear to the scientist that the journey was more fruitful than the destination. They had exchanged tidbits, and each now had more concrete footing to stand upon when evaluating each other. Thus far, Ariel had maintained her offer regardless whatever initial impressions that she now held within her grasp. Hmm, well then, he should probably answer with more honesty than usual. He liked to be a little more playful than this, but from what he had gathered up until now, it may not be the best way to approach this situation. She had given him some seemingly honest answers, and he should at least attempt to reciprocate them in return. “Well, I can say that I’m strong,” he turned back to Ariel with a light shrug, his hands spread out in front of him with a nonchalant air, “But anyone can claim that, so I’ll bring some evidence to back that up. I survived that recent war with a medal for pinnacle service. I’ll let you decide if that means anything to you.” “But you see, being friends is a two way street, y’know?” Juch added with his grin swelling, “So now here comes the question: even if you want to be friends with me, why should I want to be friends with you?” ----- Juch Word Count: 354 Total Word Count: 983 + 354 = 1,337 |

“Oh! Oh! Who did you fight for?!” she asked, clearly getting more then a little excited as she began to bounce upon the golden sands of the beach. The cool wind continued and dragged fresh sand from the treads of her boots with each leap. Still, she couldn't contain her excitement; she'd found someone strong, this weird old-man was indeed strong. “I fought for Damaskia.” she added, and quite nonchalantly too; he'd probably be a little surprised she didn't care for sides having been conscripted. The Experiment was soon forced into a frown; as she was questioned on why he'd want to be her friend. Why? Would he want to be her friend? The question was almost like a brick wall. And, Ariel's leaps ceased as she tried to think of something and yet all that rung inside her head was negativity. 'Clone!' 'Freak!' 'Monster!' Yes, the voices were right. Why? Why would anyone want to be her friend? What could she possibly offer to them? She wasn't even sure why 'she' looked out for her. “I-I don't know.” she replied meekly; friends, allies. The concept was still so foreign. ------------------ WC - 190 TWC - 1124 |

Damaskia…? “Kelioux.” What an interesting claim. A Damaskian soldier standing on Saiyan soil? What does this entail, exactly? Juch did not expect this; in fact, at this point, he had thrown out all expectations out the window. It was his duty as an experimentalist to not force the data to conform to whatever possible hypotheses he had initially set out with. His goggles masked his eye movements, but his gaze lingered on the cloak that wrapped around Ariel’s figure, lingering there for some time even after the excited bouncing died down. It was like watching a humanoid balloon deflate before his very eyes, a balloon that he himself had puffed up just a few seconds ago. She had no answer. And thus, with one fell swoop, all of the pieces of the board were positioned accordingly. This next move would determine whether he succeeded or failed. He had to choose his words carefully. The professor smirked, “You don’t know?” He clicked his tongue in disappointment, “My, my, that won’t do. Do me a favor, I implore you; think about this long and hard. Think about why, despite your unclear answer, we’re still going to be the best of buds.” Without a word, he extended a worn hand towards Ariel, “Shake on it?” ----- Juch Word Count: 212 Total Word Count: 212 + 1,337 = 1,549 |

“I didn't do much,” she added; a little worried her claim might of led to him thinking she was involved in there early planet snatching. Still, this old-man was weird. Yet, she didn't hate that either, there were so few people who tried to get into her head like this; it was quite refreshing to say the least. Maybe. Just maybe they could become actual friends. B-But did she really have any right to that? She wasn't like these people,- she was replicated DNA. Friends? Allies? Did she really have any right to enjoy such ordinary things? Ariel was snapped from her daze at the extension of Juch's arm before her gaze. She took a retreating step and eyed the arm expectantly. She arched forwards and was like a child checking for a 'shock' toy though there was little chance of one actually hurting her as she was now. Finally, she raised her eyes to Juch's own and seized his hand in hers. “I-I guess I can do that, you- you have to meet my friend too though, does that sound fair?”she asked, giving the weird old-man a smile from the bottom of her heart. The Experiment released the handshake, and she turned away from the man; her cheeks turning red enough that even a tomato would become jealous. She bent forwards before Juch's eyes as her spaded-tail began to lift and flutter in the wind; the trail of her cloak had also lifted. She had promised the old-man tail b-but she'd kill him if he tried anything else. A-And, to emphases her point she peered over her shoulder with a grimace and tears in her eyes. ----------------- WC - 277 TWC - 1000+ |

His hand remained frozen in midair, never wavering in its faith. C’mon, shake it, what’s the worst that could happen? Ariel seemed suspicious at first to the sudden gesture, but little by little, she appeared to have warmed up to the notion. When she actually did commit with a handshake of her own, it was akin to a drowning man snatching towards a thrown life vest. Hook, line, and sinker. Checkmate, Ariel. Juch’s grin only grew wider; there was no need to gloat, of course, over something going his way, but with a foot now in the door, a new world of twists and turns lay down before him, “Sure, sure, that sounds fair,” he spoke. Ariel appeared pleased. Good, good. She had another friend, she claimed. It was very likely that this character was the driving force behind this girl’s actions—the implied “somebody else” that she was looking out for. Since he was cordially invited, he might as well accept the invitation. But for now, he appeared to have good standing with this young lady; while this ‘friendship’ may not be born out of the purest of intentions, who knows how it would evolve later down the road? Of course, all this could be an elaborate trap—he didn’t forget to consider such a possibility. After all, what would Damaskia want with someone like him? And if that was the case, then he’ll be ready as well. He relinquished Ariel’s hand at an appropriate time, and— … Pardon? Was exactly was transpiring before him? Wasn’t she going to leave? That’s why she turned around, he thought, and so he sought to make a quit exit of the scene as well when this thing occurred. Ariel was pointing her swinging tail towards him, as if it was some sort of…offering? How confusing. He wasn’t sure what to make of it. Was this something cultural that he was unaware of? “I don’t understand,” was all he offered in return after an extended pause at the strange sight. Ariel appeared was upset for some reason. Hrm. Did he not play his moves correctly? Everything seemed to have gone so smoothly. ----- Juch Word Count: 359 Total Word Count: 1,000+ |

The Experiment remained frozen in her pose; if she'd been embarrassed before it was nothing compared to how she felt at those long moments. Still, she was happy to discover that this Juch character wasn't like Master Roshi. Ariel suppressed her own embarrassment and straightened herself up once more, as she turned back towards the old-man sharply. “Err- nothing pretend it didn't happen.” she told him, of course she didn't expect that to actually be possible. Yet, she didn't want to tell him that since she wasn't a fan of touch; she had to force herself since she wanted to keep her promise. “My friends name is Tomoko, and she's taken care of me since my early years on Damaskia. But, I'll let you and her handle introductions when you meet each other. I'm sure you'll like her though much more interesting~ I should really head back though b-but I hope to meet you again Mr Juch.” ----------------- WC - 157 TWC - 1000+ |

What a curious character. He still was unsure about what just happened, but eh. He grew weary of this interaction. She wanted to head out? Good, good, with her being the one to initiate it and all. "Tomoko, eh?" Juch repeated, crossing his arms, "Well, sure, sure. That sounds fine with me. I suppose I should at least give you some form of contact information." He reached into his vest to produce a business card of sorts before offering it to Ariel, "My office phone. Leave a message if I'm not there," he spoke. It was public information anyways; couldn't hurt by giving her something like this. "I'm sure we'll see each other again," Juch turned to leave, "Take care, ta ta for now." ----- Juch Word Count: 122 Total Word Count: 1,000+ |
