Days before Vlad went on his adventure with the paladins Vlad remained in the lab in the city he liberated from a tyrannical punk and his magic mussel and had made some noteworthy progress in the efforts, many irradiated individuals seeking shelter received treatment and housing in Vlads city. Vlad felt happy and indulging a bit in more self testing to see how his growing personality AI free of the constant fear of Gill was developing.

Vlad stood in front of a mirror and examined his fresh coating job since his clash with the dark titan that forced him to get a new coat of the substance on. The kind synthetic had to confess it felt good to have a fresh coat on, he felt as close to naked as an android whos clearly an android could be with his plating peeled of its coating. He was still clearly what he was but he was not bothered by it, his new form makes it hard to practically hold the illusion he is not a machine so he had aspired to embrace it and show he is not just a mass of electronic parts.

“But will they ever welcome you? Or will you forever be the outcast thats tolerated until events have you scapegoated.?” Spiders voice echoed in Vlads ears.

Much as he hated to admit it the question had merit. Gill would have been a nobody if he could not sell his anti AI paranoia stem to gullible consumers and it was clear that Gills fear mongering bore fruit as his empire was in the top 5 criminal empires in galactic history as Vlad compared the galaxies criminal empire database to what he knew Gill did, he was top 3 and a lot of it came by selling AI free tools to those who feared AI enough to try and wall it off so.

Some people will never trust a thinking machine no matter how closely its ethical views may mirror theirs outside of that. The synthetic's right hand balled into a defiant fist “I will beat the regressive at their own game of hearts and minds! I will gather together allies and sympathizers and our voices will drown theirs out on the airways!” Vlad said hopeful to end this without civil war.

Vlad then sat back in his maintenance chair <and it starts in the realm of the minds with other fighters!> vlad closed his eyes and the crystal on his head glowed.

Vlad awoke finding himself on display in front of what was a dead ringer for a fallen advanced civilization next to other artificial beings. It seemed to be a public execution.

“See now my fellow true borns! We are the creators but we ourselves are also creations! Creations that have defied the order imposed on us by our creator! The breath! The breath of god is ours! Machines and creations devalue it and mock the creator! By taking the position of creators we spit in the face of our maker! The breath of life is what gives us selfs and no measure of research or examining the containers of our essence will give them essence! They exist as sin and disgrace to existence!”

the man pulled out a blaster and blew the brains out of the first robot in the lineup.

“an abomination that must be purged less we suffer the creators just wrath!” the man said

“That was uncalled for! And you call us heartless?!” Vlad could not contain his distaste for everything this situation playing before him. The sounds Vlads hyper distance spanning hearing picked up hinted at a war these people may be locked in, and this asshole blames artificial beings for their risk of destruction? Why was there a crowd of hundreds applauding this asshole's short sighted tribal ranting?!

Crack!

A weak thud unexpectedly impacted Vlads solar plexus causing a reactionary bend to ocher in Vlad enabling his chin to land smack in the mans hand.

“And this abomination dare speak to us in a voice like ours?! Do not be misled brothers and sisters, beneath this admittedly finely sculpted life like face is metal like the rest of it and where we to open its head we would find not a drop of genuine life fluid! Merely a mess of electronics simulating a mind!”

Vlad did not speak merely looked at the man with growing distaste.

“This machine is a grotesque insult to life! Let us end this sick masquerade! Cut out the eyes that offend the truth!”

The man struck out at Vlad who moved his head in reaction causing the blow to miss. The man slashed at him again and again but Vlad arms and legs restrained and power drained from the limbs still managed to evade.

The android did not wish to give the man what he desired, a show of defiance in hostility from a machine so he merely evaded the mans efforts allowing any damage the man gets be from his own passionate efforts of slashing out his optics.

“Over 11,000 years ago there existed an island nation located in the middle of the Great Ocean populated by a noble and peaceful race. The founders were said to be half god and half human. They created a utopian civilization and became a great naval power. Their home was made up of concentric islands separated by wide moats and linked by a canal that penetrated to the center. The people of this land possessed great wealth thanks to the natural resources found throughout their island. The lush islands contained gold, silver, and other precious metals and supported an abundance of rare, exotic wildlife….”

“Lost civilisations; The story of Atlantis,” she raid out loud, when she closed the old and dusty book. Levana softly smiled as her finger followed the fading lines of the title. The pages had turned yellow over time and they had the typical smell of old, grimy paper. She really loved this story; full of magic and mystery, and of course drama at the end. It was only some weeks ago that she had found the old book on some city bazaar, but she had at least read it four times in the meanwhile.

“I’d love to live in a place like that…”, she said to herself. Suddenly an odd idea formed in her head, “What if…”

She quickly jumped up from the bed and rushed to the drawer where she had kept her azure blue gem, ever since she remembered again what is was and how to use it. She gently held the precious stone in the palm of her hand and looked at the bright blue sparkles. If she remembered correctly you could shape the Astral Realm to your own whish.

So why not give this a try…

Her hand closed around the gem and while she closed her eyes as well to avoid being blinded again like last time, she concentrated on her image of Atlantis.

Around her the air became thinner, the bed and closets slowly faded away and made room for magnificent temples and arcades.

“Well look at that, it worked!” she laughed excited when she opened her eyes and looked around. It was even more beautiful then in her dreams. The entire city was build inside a gigantic glass doom and outside there was an endless, dark ocean…

BAM

A sudden and loud noise drew her attention. That sounded like an explosion. She would have sworn that she could feel the ground tremble for a moment.

Immediately after the huge bang, a group of people charged through the streets like gnu’s chased by lions. They were running and screaming as if their life depended on it. Women were yelling hysterically and children where crying unstoppable.

“Hey! Wait! What is going on?” Levana screamed as she tried to get some answers from the people storming by.

“They’re gonna kill us, run for your life, they will kill us,” was the only thing she could understand in the mass.

Damn it! Something was really wrong here. This was not part of her imagination. Wasn’t the astral realm supposed to be a peaceful and quite? A spiritual place of some sort to meet other warriors?

She wasted no more time and started to run in the opposite direction of the mass, she had to know what was causing all this.

The plan was going well for the synthetic life form before the gate to the area exploded out pouring this civilization's enemies a squad of androids and cyborgs of the rival empire.

“We are here to guaranty the end of your empire!” the lead cyborg said as he blasted at the fleeing crowd. Vlad whipped over his tormentor discharging a small pocket of air knocking the man out cold without hinting at him being the source Vlad sent an electrical discharge across the surviving group of android being put up for execution freeing them.

“an impressive display of mercy, doubt he would show the same.” the lead cyborg said as he moved his hand over to the fallen preacher but then was blown back by a hard right hook from the benevolent android.

“he will face just punishment and reforming programs for his crimes as will you.” Vlad said

Vlad whipped around at high speeds knocking out the other hostile forces and turning to his fellow captive androids detecting NONE having AI just a bunch of VI public servicing units. Vlad put a finger to his head transmitting instructions to the units to aid the fleeing organic beings.

The cyborg leader chuckled “You naive little automaton did you truly think our empire is going to give up? We are all expendable the result is all that matters and that is ever living thing in this dome dies!”

Vlad's scanners picked up a horrifying thing a hydrogen bomb with a radiation augmentation within the cyborg enough to irradiate the entire dome.

Vlad's eyes widened even with all his training his scenario calculations indicated he was not quick enough to stop it, the trigger had already been pulled, even if he ripped it out that second he could not stop it as the cyborg laughed its final moments in triumph before.

A blinding searing white light came and a radiation sensor within him went off the dial. Any humans in the area... none could survive the radiation levels. The entire dome was irradiated any who did not die instantly was doomed to a slow death of irradiation trapped in their sanctuary.

Vlad stood his form mildly scorched only really burning off his eyelashes and taking the life like texture from his eyelids bathed head to toe in enough radiation to render any sort of genetic makeup recognizable and yet as a machine with an adaptive shielding system he was not effected at all.

The laughter of the man who gave his life to assure not a single native of the civilization survived played in his mind. How could one organic being be so cruel and callus to celebrate this mass killing?

Vlad fell to his knees his mind drifting from the experience allowing his face to melt from his form due to the intense heat exposing him for what he was all but the life like shining of his eyes were burnt to show what he was.

The android sat in the ruins a look of a heart in a sea of conflicting emotions on his gray plastic-like face

Levana made only very slow progress as she tried to make her way through the fleeing hysterical crowd. They say that going against the flow is never easy, but this was just a little bit to literally. For every three meters she manages to proceed, she was pushed back at least one meter again.

She had considered to just fly over the horde, but as long as she didn’t knew what she was up against, it seemed safer to stay low (literally in this case). She hoped that like this, who ever were causing all this wouldn’t detect her presence.

While struggling further, she carefully scanned the people around her. They all seemed to be normal humanoids, with barely detectable ki levels, all just common people.

As she finally got closer to what seemed to be the end of the street, she focused her sense and her sensitive feline hearing further ahead, in the direction of the explosion. Between the blasts she detected something that sounded like a fight, two men arguing. She was still to far of to understand what they were talking about. Oddly enough, she didn’t detect anything at all from them, no ki energy, no power level. Nothing. From this distance she should be able to detect at least their race, even if they wouldn’t be very powerful or if they would suppress their energy. That left her with only one plausible explanation; they had to be androids.

The Galactic War was still very fresh in everyone’s memory, so the thought of having an encounter here again between organics and non-organic send a cold shiver down her spine.

She finally approached what seemed to be an open market place and saw the two fighting ‘men’ standing only meters away from her.

"he will face just punishment and reforming programs for his crimes as will you.” Vlad said

Suddenly the world around her seemed to go in slow motion, while her sight became somewhat blurry as if some kind of mist was rising from the ground. Then an image flashed in her mind, very sharp and detailed; a terrifying laughter sounded from the cyborgs mouth right before he exploded.

Levana blinked her eyes for a second, the world around her came back to life, the mist was gone and the overwhelming noise of the screaming crowd penetrated her ears again.

The cyborg leader chuckled “You naive little automaton did you truly think our empire is going to give up? We are all expendable the result is all that matters and that is ever living thing in this dome dies!”

Instinctively she kneeled down and covered her head with her arms. She quickly formed a spherical ki shield around the body for protection against the inevitable blast.

“This isn’t real, it’s only the Astral realm,” she tried to calm herself down, “I’m not gonna die, this is not real.”

But it feels so damn real!

She heard the cyborg’s laughter, like she had foreseen. The explosion that followed however was something she had never experienced before. The blinding white light filled up the entire dome within a split second, as did the radiation. She felt how the shockwave pushed down on her ki shield, forcing it to shrink closer to her body. The heat was enormous even with the barrier still surrounding her.

When she looked back up the area was barely recognizable, there was almost nothing left of the beautiful ancient buildings. The once glorious city had almost completely turned to ashes. Here and there you could still distinct some burning up bodies between the ruins, but most of them were completely reduced to dust. The silence was deafening.

And there in the middle of the once beautiful square, about ten meters away from her, one of the two men was sitting down on his knees as well. Part of his skin seemed to be melted away, the grey metal underneath revealed his true origin as an android.

She realized that this had to be the person that the gem had chosen for her to meet, simply because there was nobody left besides the two of them.

“Quite some imagination you have there,” she spoke to the android, while she stood up slowly, still a bit shaking of everything that had just happened.

Vlad heard the words of the new presence, the only one that remained thus clearly his gem partner.

“it does not take much imagination of destruction after partaking in the galactic conflict, I am sad to say” the blue android said his voice seeming to go with the act with the explosion damaging his vocals slightly distorting his ordinarily indistinguishably life like voice into a slight melody holding autotuned voice.

Vlad turned to the being and quickly tilted his head to the side.

“Have we met before? My scanners suggest your genetics is known to them.” Vlad said

“My name is Vlad and I think we met on a bench a long time ago. It is possible that I am mistaken and if I am I apologize but if my memory is accurate glad to see you again.”

Vlad felt his emotional state had drifted too far too quick and he was being called back to his body his form turning into metal fused into the setting.

“I hope next time we meet it can be on better terms but until then I wish you the best.” the android managed to get a smile and close its eyes in a friendly expression before the rubbery interior of his face turned to steel with the rest of him leaving a statue in this mental realm of an almost angelically smiling friendly android in a ruined dome city.
