Telepathic Link / Combat Rune / Champion II / Saiyan Maragai yawned. So far, it had been quite the lazy day. With Tork'thal off in Eden's Realm, Omega stationed on Vegeta-Sei, and Je'sheln lounging around outside in the sunlight, the child found herself bored beyond belief. Laying her head sideways on the desk she sat at, the Vessel of Light idly flicked at a pen to send it rolling across the desk before rolling back. Boring. She lowered her energy level substantially to make herself more comfortable. A sigh escaped the preteen's lips. The pen clattered to the floor as Maragai removed her hand to fish around in the drawer. It didn't take long for her lithe fingers to brush against the smooth and cool surface of a crimson gemstone. Curiously, Maragai pulled it out and stared at it for the moment. An Astral gem! She had completely forgotten that she had the blasted thing! With a faint smile forming on her lips, the Vessel allowed her Ki to flow through it and pull herself into the realm of sparring. It had been a long time since she had turned to the dimension. Perhaps someone there would relieve her of the dull day she was suffering through. 197/197 |

[Combat Rune] Chaos stared out the thick glass of his warship and watched the clouds float peacefully across the emerald Namekian sky. This world was hardly known for its entertainment value and visiting was about as fun as an Amish summer camp. For what Namek lacked in common creature comforts it made up for with seven mystical spheres. If not for those unique relics it is entirely likely that the planet would have been eliminated long ago by the Cosmic Empire itself. The entire population of the world was not worth a grain of salt. But those damn Dragonballs… “Useless slugs…” He turned from the window unable to stand the stale scenery for a moment longer. In the morning he planned to explore some of the local villages and inquire about the legendary balls that could grant any wish. Chaos casually popped his neck side to side while reaching for the gem attached to his necklace. As the glowing rock came into view from behind his crimson chest plate an eerie light filled the room. A brief moment passed and when the glow subsided he was no longer in his ship parked upon the rolling blue hills of Namek. No, this was far from the peaceful waters and tranquil breezes of Namek. This was a world of chaos: the realm of Immaterum. Ghostly whispers of aetherial energy danced around him and sang silent songs of nightmares and dreams of those who had used the realm before. Chaos inhaled deep and focused, searching for the presence of any familiar soul until, rather quickly, he stumbled upon a target.Ah, Maragai. In a flash of archaic motion, the entire misty world took on a new, solid form. Chaos released the gem at his neck letting it clink into his armor. He was outside now. The sky was a dark bronze color, ablaze with flashes of white lightning. Namek’s green oceans were replaced with oozing rivers of tar that flowed in impossible directions. The once blue grass was just scorched earth in every direction to the horizon. The lithe form of Maragai began to form before his eyes just twenty feet away. He smiled and folded his hands behind his back. “Maragai! It has been too long, how have you been?” WC: 378 |

As Maragai stepped foot in a world with scorched grass and a sickly bronze colored sky, the Vessel of Light couldn't help but shudder. There was an eerie feeling about this realm, and the child didn't like it one bit. Her amethyst eyes focused on a river of tar nearby. It bubbled and boiled as if it held some sort of dark life within it. Frowning, the child stepped away from it and glanced around. Why had she been brought to such a dark place? And there, at the edge of her senses, she could feel a vast power - one that only took a moment or two for Maragai to put a face to. And in that short time, the man had made his presense known. "Chaos?" Maragai turned to face the man, studying his form carefully. "Yeah, it has been a while. I haven't seen you since Earth was being taken over..." She trailed off for an instant, her eyes darkening slightly. She wasn't too keen on remembering that day. Though she had held her own quite well, the overwhelming strength of the Steel Legion units had toppled her eventually. If it wasn't for the goddess of light protecting her, the child would have likely died. Shaking her head sightly as if struggling free from the clinging cobwebs of that nightmare, her gaze brightened once more. "Where have you been at?" she couldn't help but ask. 237/434 |

Chaos regarded her with a casual smile as she spoke. Even here in the Immatereum he could feel the shift in her Ki. The new-found maturity in her soul could be seen reflected in her eyes, a fire he had seen before in her mother. “I had a run in with the Steel Legion.” He was silent for a moment, letting the name linger in the air. “It was a rough outing…I tracked down the unit attacking Earth. It had also killed a Saiyan Elite." He couldn't help but wonder how she may take those words. Would she see him as a savior who helped defeat the Legion? Would she think think of him as some sort of avenger for a fallen Saiyan? Could she understand he simply wanted a challenge? He didn't elaborate, he really didn't care if she understood. She's only a child, after all, and an idealistic one at that; but he believed Blackfire would have understood. Despite living through a galactic war he still saw the same young girl there, the scared child he met long ago. "Prince Vegeta had to get involved. I even lost an arm!” he said with a laugh, bringing his slightly paler hand to view. "What about you? Those things were relentless, and if you encountered one I..well..I'm sorry I wasn't there to help. But you clearly held your own! How did you do it?" 236/614 |

"Those androids were..." The girl trailed off for a moment, completely losing herself in a vision of fighting against the metallic creatures who never tired. "...More like monsters than anything else," she finally finished, opening her amethyst eyes. She could feel her power slowly rising as she thought about it and had to pause to force her Ki back into her reserves and lower her energy once more. "I'm not sure how I survived that fight," she admitted. "They were so much stronger than me. It wasn't even a contest. I just had to stay defensive and hope for the best." It was true: the hybrid's defensive abilities were beyond good. But Maragai also knew that Je'sheln, the goddess of light, had protected her in that battle. If it hadn't been for her whisper in Maragai's ear... If it hadn't been for her surge of energy to heal the child when she was starting to get worn down... "I'm just glad they're gone," Maragai told Chaos. She gripped her right forearm with a hand. "They would have wiped out Earth's entire population." She decided not to share her misgivings about the Saiyan Empire taking Earth from the Protectorate. While it was true that the Avalonian paladins had fled and left Earth to die, the girl couldn't help but feel unease about what the Saiyan King would do to a civilian planet under his rule. How long would it take for him to militarize it? She pushed the thoughts away, eyeing Chaos carefully. The first time she had ever met him, she had told him who her mother was. But Chaos had mentioned her father's name almost as if he knew him personally. For a moment, she weighed her options. Then, she decided to tell him. "Vegeta," she started, then shook her head. "Prince Vegeta," she corrected herself. "He's... my father." For a moment, she wasn't even sure why she had told Chaos. It hadn't benefited her in any way. But she felt as if it would help something. Perhaps it was a weight she needed to get off of her chest. Perhaps it was something more. But there, Maragai was forced to wait - wait for the reaction that the powerful man before her would give. 376/810 |

Black bubbles burst and belched in the brooks of tar as she spoke. Chaos' nodded at her words but said nothing. The sulfuric stench filled his nostrils as he sighed with faux relief when she mentioned the Earth being saved. It was surprising, really. By all accounts the girl before him should have been ripped to shreds against one of the Control Units. Raw potential aside, she lacked the experience to survive against such a ruthless opponent. An opponent that never tired or quit because of pain like most delicate organic beings. They were the most perfect killing machines aside from himself he had to admit. And yet, here she was! His gaze travled to the bronze sky as it streaked with wild bolts of silver electricity. "Your mother would be proud. You continue to impress, young Maragai." But what she revealed next cut out every other thought. "Prince Vegeta," the name sounded foreign on her lips as she corrected herself, as if it were her first time really saying it out loud. Sure she probably heard the name before, it was the name of their home, their prince, and their King! Even so, the name seemed to tremble from her lips with uncertainty that brought his eyes back to her lithe figure. "He's my father" The heat of the Immatereum was forgotten, a veil of ice washing over him as each word escaped her thin lips. He arched an eyebrow, his only external response. Could she be lying? No, she wouldn't lie to him, there was no benefit for her. He didn't believe she had it in her anyhow. Why hadn't Vegeta ever mentioed her? It wouldn't be the first child sowed by the Saiyan Prince that Chaos learned about many years later. He dismissed his memory of the purple haired Saiyan, Calanor. If what she said were true, the depths of her potential were beyond his original summation. Would she be a threat someday? And if she was, could he cut down one of Vegeta's children? He already knew the answer but hoped it would never come to that. A smile broke his calm expression. Moreover, she was no longer just a potential pawn for him to maneuver or experiment with. "Maragai, Saiyan princess." He let the title linger for a moment. "Does Vegeta know? He's never mentioned a relationship with Blackfire...but that, uh, doesn't mean they did not love each other very much." He rambled a bit, hoping he did not offend the youth. "Your father and I have known each other for a long time. If you truly are his daughter then your place among us is practically written in the stars..." he trailed off and rubbed his chin, eyes returning to the molten sky above. It felt good for the words to leave her lips. It was a relief. Only two other people knew of her full heritage, and only she knew what that fully meant. Royal blood from two separate races ran through her veins, but she did not embrace it. To her, it was more of a curse then anything. Sure, she was strong for her age, but it always felt as if she had to strive to become better - stronger. After all, there were too many evils in the universe that needed to be sorted out. "Vegeta doesn't know, no," Maragai answered after a moment of contemplation. "Neither does Blackfire. I haven't told either of them." She wasn't quite sure why she hadn't mentioned it before. Perhaps it was because both of them were so... different from how she knew them in her own timeline. "I guess time can really change people," she continued, looking up at the sky. But her eyes were focused - focused on something that only she could see: her own past. "The Saiyan race was pretty much entirely extinct when I was born," she told Chaos. "The only full blooded Saiyan left was my dad. I guess once he no longer had a population to rule, he lost a lot of his..." She trailed off for a moment, struggling to find the right word. "...fierceness," the child finally answered. "But he found a new will once he settled with an actual family, I guess," Maragai said, looking back at Chaos. "That's how I always knew him. He's so much different here..." Maragai let out a sigh. "I guess I'm too nervous to tell him," she admitted. 278/1088 |
