The cold winter air had finally come to stay. The desolate woodlands look like a winter wonderland from some story book. The barren tree branches were decorated with piles of pure white snow and icicles simmered in the sunlight as it shown through the empty treetops. The light reflected off the snow laden groubd, shimmering like a sea of diamonds. Nary a footprint ravaged the vast expanse, all the forest creatures retired to the warmth of their dens.

It would have been a peaceful and serene scene had it not been for the loud metallic clang that rang through the air. In the midst of the lazy landscape one soul was hard at work. The celestial leaned over his work as a smirk played across his face. "I think it's just about," he said aloud as one more boom echoed forth. "Done."

Sitting back he inspected the finished product. For over two months now he had been laboring toward the final, goal and now here it was. Sitting before him was a near perfect representation of a saiyan warship, aside from a few modifications. "Not too shabby. This looks like it could have been crafted on Kelioux if I do say so myself."

"At least someone will appreciate it," Ser joked from his right side.

"Haha, very funny."

The spren merely winked at him before flitting off to play with some cold sprites. He never could fully get a handle on her. It was no matter, for now he would be content to watch her enjoy herself. He laid back on the cold steel and let it wash over him as he reached out with his senses. A sudden blip of energy caught his attention and he immediately shot back upright. Honing in he realized it wasn't far off, just enough to leave his safe haven a secret.

"Ser, I'll be back," he called.

"Alright, you going to be alright?"

"Yeah, you stay here. Shouldn't be a threat, I just want to check it out and stretch my legs a bit."

Without a further word he took to the skies, planning to seek out the new source of power and introduce himself. If it seemed safe he would merely land somewhere nearby and offer a greeting. "I thought I sensed a new presence. I am Azrael. Pleased to meet you."

Korra was in the Spirit World atop a mountain. It wasn’t a large mountain but the view was breathtaking. She sat there crossed legged and arms on top of her legs, stretched out and opening herself to world at large. Tenzin was the first to really show her how to meditate, and she found the more she transitioned from a young Avatar-in-training to a fully realized Avatar she depended on meditation more and more.

She felt a presences coming towards her. She opened her eyes and stood up. The wind whipped at her face and her hair tousled around but she hardly noticed it. A man, at least he looked like a man, appeared near Korra. He introduced himself as Azrael. Korra liked the name, and felt some sort of connection to him. Though she didn’t know why. That was always the strange thing about being the Avatar, you never knew what you did in your past life (well should could meditate and find out) or if someone might have crossed your path before. She doubt this was the case being in a new dimension and everything but who knew.

“Hi, my name is Korra. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she said with a smile.

She continued, “Are you out here to chat, or to train?”

"Still think I'm a half baked Avatar?"

"I'm the Avatar, you gotta deal with it."

"There" the thought came in his mind when he got a complete lock on the one he had sensed. It was a short trip and he was required to ascend quite a bit before leveling off at the same level as the new arrival. He could tell that there was something less worldly about her even though she was firmly planted in the physical realm, at least somewhat more than he.

He landed softly before the lass, not, wanting to, disturb her meditation. When she opened her eyes and stood he gave his greeting and got one in kind. He could tell that she was sizing him up, trying to judge of he was friend or foe. He merely offered a placating smile.

"Oh you needn't worry about me. But I will leave the choice to you. Make of my visit what you will. I merely was brought here by my own curiosity."

His grin was non-threatening but he remained alert in case the situation changed.

Korra smiled the goofy grin she had always given, though it goofy now then when she was younger. She liked this guy, whoever he was. He didn’t seem to pose much of a threat to her which was reassuring these days. Not that he was weak or couldn’t just up and kill her, but he seemed a gentle enough soul. Korra had to admit she was having trouble seeing the imbalance of this galaxy. Where was the evil? Where was the reason for ripping her across time and space to help restore peace to this galaxy. She knew there was a great war not that long ago, but where the evil ones defeated? Maybe this guy would know.

“Maybe we can fight later, test ourselves in a good ol fashion spar. I have something I want to know and maybe you can help me out.” She wasn’t afraid to tell him she wasn’t from this time, it actually seemed pretty common.

“I’m not from here. Not from this galaxy or time and place. Hard to explain where I am from. I came here to help people, to rid the galaxy of evil and restore balance and peace. Yet, I haven’t seen much evil. Where is it? Was it destroyed in this great war I keep hearing about?”

Azrael studied the girl before him as she offered a smile. He couldn't place what it was about her that seemed off. Obviously she had come to this place of quiet seclusion in search of peace to meditate. It was that meditation that he had just interrupted. Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that she was at least in part similar to himself. Could it be something like what Seraphina had mentioned before? Had she been touched by the nether realm?

Studying her it did seem as if she had the aura about her of one that had communed with other dimensions. When she spoke though it conformed his suspicions. Evidently she was interested in information, she was like many others and from someplace else. He could only offer a smile when she asked the question.

He let a small chuckle escape his lips before responding. "Well you wouldn't be the first to say you wish to restore peace and balance. You are right though about not seeing much evil, but the truck is you have to look beyond the surface. It was not destroyed in the great war by a long shot. In fact, it just went dormant."

He turned his attention to the horizon as a wind brought snow from the east. "Everyone always expects evil to announce itself, to take on the form of some entity. In reality evil is much more clever than that. It hides under the guise of truth and justice, it lies beneath promises of protection and guidance. So to answer your question, no, evil,is not dead. It's merely changed form."

Korra received the answer she thought she might. Evil was dormented. So Raava had brought her here to find something lurking beneath the surface. This guy seemed a gentle one, but deadly in his own right. If all the heroes of this galaxy rivaled her power, and yet they shied away from open conflict with those of an evil nature, then how could she do anything to stop it? Her power was so insignificant here. Yet she continued to think about how far she had come in just a few weeks. Her power was already tripled what it was when she first came here.

She was the Avatar, capable of going beyond everyone and rising to the highest form in order to bring about balance. But as she had spent the last few years learning, the journey was hard.

“Thanks. I guess I knew that but needed to hear it from someone. I don’t know why I feel I can trust you, but maybe we can be friends. I won’t be on Earth for long, I’m actually heading out towards another planet soon. I’m sure you have made it onto the astral planes before. Maybe we can have a proper spar there sometime,” she said with a grin.

“Oh before I forget, I didn’t catch your name.”

It seemed that he had been correct in his assumptions that he needn't be concerned about finding a potential enemy today. He had read the situation correctly and ended up stumbling across a stranger from another world. Perhaps she would be an ally in his own fight against the darkness. It was true that it was hard to find but he knew that there was plenty of it out there. He could sense it, like a shadow lurking over them all.

He needed to get stronger, to get to the bottom of who He was and why he had been resurrected in such a way. It was obvious that he was nothing like his old self but at the same time there was still so much that he had not lost. His memory was returning slowly, but he still had no recollection of what had caused his demise or what happened in between that and his awakening.

His attention returned to the girl before him, so upbeat, so motivated. He only hoped she wouldn't let this world take that from her. At her request he laughed a bit. "It seems that if you want to find the evil you seek you will need to be a bit more aware of your surroundings. As I said my name is Azrael, but yes that sounds good. I don't plan on staying here much longer either, I feel I may be needed elsewhere. Perhaps we will meet again in the future."

He nodded and turned to leave, stopping short and looking over his shoulder. "And remember Korra, evil might not always appear the way you think. True evil can be found in even the holiest of places," and with that he took to the sky once more.
