Yan hummed absently as he walked. He donned a hoodie just fitted to him that he’d stolen as a bit of a momento. He would likely get scolded for it but there was still traces of the energy of a man he quite fancied. He’d definitely get scolded since the person he stole it from was that man’s significant other. Still, his newish iPod sat comfortable in it’s pocket, all updated and fresh with music. He must treat this one better. ”We don’t know where to land~ So we kiss like…” he sang quietly to himself on a whim as he turned the corner to the sight of the young experiment which caused him to trail off. As usual the sight of her caused him to break into smile, even despite the fact his presence often caused her grief. ”Ariel~ he calls cheerfully then blinks as he couldn’t hear himself. He pulled the buds from his ear and hopped over to her, seeming fine enough despite the beating she’d given him not too long ago. It felt like longer but the brief spar for a question hadn’t been very long after Juch declared his 24 hour window and now that window was only just closing. ”Are you all ready?” he asks like the busybody he was. Space, the new frontier. It had been a while since he’d traveled somewhere completely new, and a sentient planet had a certain charm, at least until it tried to eat them or something. 264/264 |

The former experiment couldn't help but wander aimlessly about the starship, as she had upon getting back from her hunt – well before she'd sealed herself in her room. She found the scientist as she promised to.. Only, he wouldn't come back with her. Why? Why wouldn't he come back with me? She wondered. She'd been damn close to punching the walls of her room – but it was still evident she'd gotten to work on her hair – it was scattered about wildly, almost like a mop; you could still see the clawing marks where her fingers had travelled through. And, all this was because she knew Tomoko, Yan and Kaiya would definitely be mad. He'd even given them a window – it was a complete mission failure. She sighed burying her hands into her donned black hoodie, the hood was down; hung low as was her head with her freshly dyed black hair. Oddly, it seemed like her tail was missing. She almost appeared Human again as she had before – The experiment shrugged to herself. It wasn't a complete disaster she'd gotten to see what Yan was capable of in combat. She hopped he wouldn't be too mad about the beating but it had certainly worked through some of her stress. She was headed to the kitchen in search of food. Only, she lost her train of thought as Yan's voice rung again rung out to her; she raised her head in search of him and spotted him at the end of the corridor. She immediately lowered herself into a defensive stance trying to tidy the mess that was her hair. “W-What do you want Yan? Here to tell me how I failed you all?-” she asked, already expecting to hear it. Only, she was interrupted as he questioned her on her packing progress. “I'm all ready-” she declared anxiously, she wasn't even that sure if she was welcome. But, she couldn't help but smile faintly at the fact that she held so few possessions. So, packing was easy work. “Y-Yeah I'm good to go now,” she informed him, once more folding her arms under her chest. WC - 356 |

Yan ignored her outburst about failing and let his smile grow as she confirmed she was ready. She was so negative. He was just pleased she was tagging along and not quitting though he felt like the rocky waters had not quelled yet. They were such a shitty team he had to say, well he hadn’t yet but he would eventually. Juch had reason besides Ariel to be weary and the blame probably fell a bit more on himself and Tomoko. Tomoko mostly. He’d always jump to blame the commander as much as possible. She’d really done a piss poor job of convincing the man though! ”You did well,” he says easily. ”On Earth I mean. It must have been rough,” he explains touching briefly on what she said on their one excursion out. She had done well. She had worked through her discomfort better than most could and while she might have felt like a failure no one was any worse off. She had lasted through it and now they were finally leaving. A job well done he’d say. ”I’m both anxious to leave and yet somehow feel unready,” he continued, looking up in thought despite the fact he doubted she was at all interested in him. ”There’s a certain air of wanderlust and unfinished business…” 237/501 |

The former experiment searched his facial expressions absent-mindedly as she gave him her answer. He was smiling, it was of no real surprise to her though for he was always smiling. She'd gotten used to that damn near constant smile, even her wailing on him during the training session hadn't succeeded in removing it - though it had been fun for her... pounding away at the cause of her troubles did little to help with her dislike of that smile. It was almost something like a direct contradiction of her nature, which she just couldn't understand that. She'd seen the universe for what it was; cruel, cold and dark. So why hadn't he? Heck, even her first meeting with her 'light' had been shrouded in darkness. That light being dead - killed at the hands of a "Monster" on Namek. Ariel herself didn't really believe in monsters however, the once's in skin were bad enough. She shrugged off her concerns there was a more pressing concern and she'd no more look the other way to issues. Stepping forward with all her speed she stepped into Yan's bubble without delay, or concern. Usually, she'd be scared - she hated touch, but for once she cared not - there was no bubble between them anyway he'd ruptured it himself on there first meeting. That kiss still plagued her. She'd go to grasp the scruff of his hoodie and lift him off the ground. Then, she'd go to pin him to a wall not wanting to give him opportunity to run. Yes, she'd lost her game and had to share something dear to her; it was only fitting he did the same, right? “Yan, why are you always smiling? What were you in prison for when we first met?” she asked, giving him a small shake to show she was serious. ----------------------- WC - 308 TWC - 664 |

Yan blinks as the girl came in close. He already knew before she grabbed his hoodie it would not be an encounter with violence, still he showed no fight when she pushed him up against the wall. This was not like the prison. They had no where they needed to be, Ariel was not holding him up from something larger. Right then, in his mind, there was nothing larger than Ariel and for him there was no better place to be. He thought she’d ask him something about Tomoko, or the mission, excuse him of traiturous behavior but such things were still under her rayder it seemed and he found himself smiling, though more softer, again as she asked him questions about himself. They didn’t require the violence surely, but he quite liked it. Why was he always smiling? Surely, it’d been like that for as long as he’d known. Keep a chin up, don’t show the strangers what is happening, be strong be tough. People would rather see your happy face then deal with your turmoil, remain unphased. These were all things he was taught and lessons that had not served him poorly. He was someone who was easily pleased and amused but also one who knew it was always better to appear in good spirits, durable and withstanding any mess. ”It’s easier to hide behind isn’t it?” he asks in turn to her question his hand lifting up and letting two fingers touch her lips innocently enough. ”Behind a smile people can’t tell what really going on below it, and they don’t often think to ask.” He dropped his hand before she could slap it away and leant his head back against the wall he was already pinned to. ”Focusing more on the small good things, trying to remain positive when you know everything is shit, that’s also a coping mechanism that works in ones favor.” He wasn’t sure she’d understand it. She might just mark him off as the liar he was from henceforth, take every smile for granted even when he meant them sincerely for her most often. He was a pessimistic man at heart, he could easily fall into the ways Ariel did, but he wouldn’t, because it did not serve him to. 393/894 |

Ariel smirked venomously as she felt his frame jolt upon her forcing him into the vessels walls, she'd expected him to struggle; to lash at her with his arms. Yet, he made no efforts against her? Did he want her to press him there? Had she acted rashly expecting him to flee to avoid her question? Well, she'd already resolved to keep him there as long as it took.. she wanted answers and she had no where to go until Tomoko called them to continue the hunt. She was a little disappointed at Yan's lack of fight. Moreso when he divulged the information she sought with such a nonchalant attitude. 'Easier to hide behind?' she reflected, now she was suddenly wondering just what he might be hiding from her, from Tomoko, and from Kaiya. Yet, again her trail of thought was lost as she felt his fingers applied to her lips. She blushed slightly as she felt them moulding to his fingers. Her eyes broadened to their fullest – there was a moment as she realized the scene, as if in limbo. Yet, it was quickly over thrown as she shook him violently into the wall again. She twisted her head mere inches from her shoulders and stared him down - her eyes equivalent of daggers. When would he understand that she was Tomoko's? Would it help if she cut Tomoko's name into his flesh? She shook her head – that definitely wouldn't help, but she might enjoy his screams. Still she was thankful for his answer, even if she didn't fully understand it. What possible profit could there be in hiding ones emotions from the universe? It was no different from running away – granted that was her usual recourse. She couldn't help but envy the Demoness's approach. Kushinada would have blackmailed the problem till it went away – and Flonne would of just said to forgive them, angels were hypocrites. “Well~ err thank you... But how many times?!” she barked, and with that she relinquished her grip and her arm ignited with the familiar hum of the ki sword – she very much over-dramatised her attack to allow him to dodge. But – she had to show him she wouldn't tolerate such things on herself or Tomoko. ------------------------------------ WC - 379 TWC- 1000+ |

Yan grinned accidentally as she jerked him into the wall with more force in response to his touch. He knew he shouldn’t but she was the one who got so into his space, she should expect the consequences. His grin faded though as she thanked him, not even realizing he had only answered one of her questions. She had made it easy to avoid what he didn’t want to discuss, especially if Juch would be bringing something more solid to the table against him soon. He still was not sure the dirt that man carried. Like Kushinada, rather than blackmail, it was still a form of manipulation. Yan rolled along the wall as soon as he was free, missing the sword that pelted into it but barely. He stayed there still, ready to dodge again but not leaving the closeness they’d developed in the hallway. ”It wasn’t meant in a romantic sense you know,” he says a bit of playful stubbornness in his tone. ”I really would like to be able to take your hand at least, pat you on the head or shoulder, a sign of friendship...though we have barely committed to even allies...” he says seeming only then to remember. He made a small it can’t be helped face and shrugged. He was asking too much as always and Ariel gave him nothing in return for it. 241/1000+ |

The former Experiment smirked briefly as she watched him dive beneath the ki sword, the crimson blade slicing through the wall like it was butter. She swooned as she listened to it's gentle hum before her smile vanished as she feigned annoyance at his dodge. 'Good, he'd learnt to dodge pretty well during there training session. Hopefully, he can actually help them fight the dragon this time.' she thought, as she caressed her sword tenderly with he eyes locked upon the blade ignoring Yan's protest for the most part. her fingers caressed the blade tenderly. She'd made the dodge easy for him but was still quite pleased with the result. Ariel frowned at the response and folded the blade over her chest while she glared angrily at him. “You touched my lips, that's always going to be took romantically. B-but it doesn't matter, this body is Tomoko's so no touching..” she repeated childishly, silently shifting her gaze to the floor. “Besides I don't like it either...” she muttered quietly, but it wasn't his fault either he didn't know what she'd been through at the lab. What they did to her.. how the touch of others was usually followed by the piercing of flesh with needles. He hid his pain beneath a smile - what if she buried it all together, never wanting to feel that way again. “Then, let me ask you this.. Say these 'dragonball' things from this planet worked by sacrificing someone dear to you. Are you honestly telling me you wouldn't be the least bit tempted?...” she asked, as she sighed aloud what was the point she doubted he'd understand her motives. |

Yan caught the quite mutter and it was enough to silence him, even take a bit of perk from his smile. He probably wouldn’t touch her again after that, except when absolutely needed. One could only tease so much before it was simply an invasion of one’s comfort and a trouble. There was reconditioning and there was respect. Her next question caught him off guard though, the topic seeming to switch entirely and he cocked his head slightly to the side. ”No?” he offers as if it were common sense. For one, Yan had not a single wish for the dragonballs. Not one. There was nothing he wanted so much as to even search for them let alone sacrifice the few things he did have. The one wish he had had in his life...someone dear...the dragon balls had been unable to help him. It shot a pain in his gut though he didn’t show it on his face. To sacrifice someone dear, he knew of that feeling, that loss. It was not worth anything he could think of. ”Listen Ariel, if I care for someone, I care for someone," he says putting emphasis on the last line to hopefully drive it in. ”If they are hurt, then I am hurt. I have no wish to harm myself.” He paused here, his smile faded to a look of soft concern. ”I know I’ve been harsh with you a few times,” he admits carefully, almost ready for her to strike out at him for lowering his remarks to that extent but that’s how he saw it. The phew cold looks and tosses of the word moron were simply him being a bit harsh and he knew as much. ”But I strike at you because you are already striking at yourself and I know no other way to stop you. You have so much room for growth if you simply stop making the same mistakes again and again. Tomoko can not be the only one always catching you. She is not strong enough.” It was almost a plea: Let me help as well. 1000+ |

Ariel surveyed him as he gave his curt answer to her philosophical question, she wasn't actually sure if she could believe him with that particular response – After all there were many who'd do nearly anything for immortality so that they might rule the universe. Additionally, an elderly person might wish to be young again so they can experience youth once more and vice versa. Ariel let the blade disperse from her am and scowled. Did he have to be this persistent? She wondered. Maybe there were people who could be that selfless? But, after years of being treated as an Expeiment she doubted it. Maybe, Yan was serious and he just wasn't greedy? Still, there were already far too many maybe's appearing within her head. She nodded once to herself as if to confirm her trail of thought, They say a strangers just a friend you haven't met. Yet, how quickly that friend can become an enemy is truly what's surprising. “I-I don't know,” she told him, her shoulders visibly trembling. Why was he so troubled by her desire to not feel that pain again. “I told you how we can work together but that's the best I can offer you for now. at this time. You want more – then prove to me you weren't just blowing smoke before.” She told him, as she departed. |
