Much time had passed since his awakening in that hospital with no recollection of who was or where he had come from. It seemed like an eternity even though he knew it was little more than a couple of months. Since that time he had managed to reacquaint himself with some of his abilities and gain just a minor bit of insight into his past. He at least remembered who he had once been and that he perceived himself a failure for his inability to conquer the evil which had threatened himself and the others around him. The issue now though was that he didn't know why he was a failure or how it had happened. Sera had helped a little but she was more concerned with teaching him more about what he was and not who, besides she barely had much more information than he did.

It was in the midst of one of his many loops of thinking about all of this that he realized he needed to stop and get some perspective. Strength of mind, body, and spirit were what he needed to make sure that nothing like that ever happened again. Seraphina had implied that maybe part of his problem was that he was so intent on doing everything by himself, taking the weight and not letting anyone else offer their help. He had done it once but even then he had failed. So it was this thought now that had sent him out in search of such a person. Perhaps he could find someone that was like him, that might be an ally against that which sought to control the galaxy.

His search eventually brought him to a small watering hole that although was on its own island managed to be filled with people. Where had they all come from? There must have been a ferry or something. It was no matter. Something told him that this place might be a good bet and so he decided to pop in and stay a spell. The bar was open air, only covered by a roof of fake palm trees. He raised a hand and ordered a drink, turning and looking out over the ocean as he waited.

It was time for a change.

West City was his adopted home, but it had started to wear a bit thin on him after all this time. After the war had ended he'd essentially fallen into a bit of a depression, and while the slump still hadn't completely been handled with the trip to the moon, he had the itch to do things. What, exactly, Ty didn't know - though he knew he didn't want to be going on any more intergalactic space travels - that EDF mission had given him a chance at moving forward.

Not that there was anyone left in West who cared about him going on a vacation anyway. Packing all the necessities into his worn backpack, Tyrome thought for a moment about putting on one of his tuxedos. Those, also, had been virtually untouched in months; he didn't feel worthy anymore.

After a few minutes of deliberation, Ty settled on deciding to wear it the first day he came back. For the moment, he'd pretend to be a normal guy. And where do normal people go when they're on vacation? Islands off the coast are usually good enough ideas, and the one that had been filling up his TV's commercials for weeks was as good as any.

Getting onto the ferry wasn't hard, but getting off it was. As the island came into view, he realized that it hardly a resort; the videos and pictured featured in the videos on TV must have been of other islands, because this little patch of land was barely big enough for the hotel and cantina that it advertised.

Sighing, Tyrome went to the bar first - he'd gotten used to not needing places to sleep with roofs over the last year, and he needed a drink.

"I'll take a Hennessy XO, on the rocks." Taking a deep breath, Tyrome closed his eyes and stepped forward, breathing in the salty sea air... and bumped into the person in front of him.

"Oh, damn, sorry, homeboy," he murmured. It was a bit out of his character, but they were both on vacation, and the man Ty had bumped into clearly looked like he needed some R&R.

As his eyes closed and he rested the majority of his weight back on to the support that had been fashioned to look like the trunk of a tree. He took in a deep breath of the salty sea air. He couldn't deny that the humans were right, there was something relaxing about that smell. Perhaps it was the simplicity that it implied. It seemed. To remind you that the trivial problems and day to day worries were small when put against the grand scheme.

"Here ya go bud," he heard the bartender call to him. He couldn't recollect anything in his past about drinking and so had allowed the bartender creative license.

His eyes had not fully opened before he rolled to his side in order to pick up the frothy beverage, and was met with the body of another who must have been waiting for his own drink. The man called him by a name he had rarely heard. It took him a moment before he remembered hearing it in a movie he had watched in a previous life. It was meant to try and ease any perceived tension and was much better than an aggressive response.

He offered a smile to the stranger in turn. "My apologies. It's my fault. I should have been watching my step. Forgive me."

He didn't know what it was but there was something about this stranger, something that hinted that he was more than just some tourist.

"My name is Azrael. Pleased to meet you," he said as he extended his hand forward in greeting.

Taking his hand, he responded with enough polite charm: "Tyrome, but you can call me Ty. Everybody does."

The African American hadn't necessarily come to the island to make any friends, but the guy seemed to genuinely want to reach out - most people wouldn't have even responded to getting bumped as long as an apology was given - and so Tyrome felt he could at least put the effort in to keeping the conversation going.

Looking the man up and down briefly, he noticed that while outwardly he was friendly enough, there was an unnaturally weighty atmosphere coming from him. This subtle sense of gravity seemed to also come with a hint of... sadness? No, not that extreme. It felt more like a vague despondency. Maybe Azrael wanted to talk about it. Most people with baggage wanted to try and tell someone about it.

"Where you from, man? Or, I guess, why did you come here? Are you looking for something?"

The bartender came around and passed the glass of alcohol soundlessly to Tyrome. Taking it, he laid it down on a nearby outdoor booth, motioning for Azrael to take a seat at the booth with him.

"Ty, sounds good."

The stranger accepted his offer of greeting, something that he had to admit would not be common in the world today. Most people were more concerned with their own problems, afraid to let others in and risk getting involved in the life of another. He knew for certain now that this man was whom he had come here to meet.

Ty motioned for them to sit at a nearby table and he decided after retrieving his beer that he would do just that. He could sense the power level of his new companion, but it was much more than something so simple that drew him in. Perhaps it was that this man was a kindred spirit, a brother in their cause.

"Actually, I don't know where I am from. I remember very little about my past and what I do remember would take entirely too long to explain. But yes I did come here looking for something, and for some reason I fell that it may be you."

He laughed lightly and took a sip of his drink, looking out across the ocean. He wanted to leave an opening, waiting to see how the man might respond. He was never very good at communicating and getting the proper message across. If all went well though the initial awkwardness would eventually fade...hopefully.

Doesn't know where he's from? Well, that's not something you hear every day.

"It sounds like you've got amnesia - though I'm sure you already knew that."

The prospect of Azrael acting like Ty could in any way fix that kind of problem left him a bit at odds. Taking a long draft from his drink, he dropped the empty glass onto the table and made a brief face, letting the slight burn give him a bit of clarity in what he was about to say.

"See, I'm not a doctor, and I don't even know any, but they could probably help you with your memory problem. As far as that goes, I clearly can't help you. If you need a guy to drink with, or whoop you in basketball, I'm that guy."

Help him. He's important - for now.

The voice yet again made itself known.

How am I supposed to help somebody like this? What does he even need help WITH? I'm here on vacation, for crying out loud.

You may not rest again for a good while, as I told you before. Apologize to him, and ask him what his quest is.

Ty looked up, realizing he'd been silent for a while, probably making the conversation turn a shade more uncomfortable than it already was. After another second, he jumped into conversation, trying to put on his most charming tone - the kind he usually reserved strictly for women who were mad at him.

"Sorry, Az - can I call you Az, or do you not like that? Anyway, I had just come here to be on vacation, is all, and I didn't want to take on any kind of... 'work' while here. But of course I'll help if I can, I'm just being selfish. What did you think you needed me for?"

Azrael nodded as the stranger spoke,of his lost memories. He had figured a statement such as that might result in a response such as this. He should have known that trying to explain himself might end this way. Humans weren't exactly the most accepting sort. Especially if they perceived you as crazy.

His lack of communication skills had seriously hampered his chances of recruiting the new ally, even if his senses had brought him here. He had only managed to paint himself as some lunatic.

"Azrael, look at your new friend," the voice of the spren Seraphina suddenly spoke to his mind.

The celestial brought his attention from his self deprivation to look at the man across from him. It seemed to him that the other would rather ignore him now, obviously regretting his decision to invite h in to sit.

"No, look closer. His face is changing. I think he might be talking to someone. Maybe someone like me!?"

It seemed that she was correct. There was something more going on here. But before he could study more it seemed that Ty had a change of heart. Perhaps Seraphina was right. Maybe this guy was talking to an invisible spirit energy.

"Az...I kind of like that. Maybe you won't be so serious all the time then. I really think you could lighten up a little from time to time."

Azrael smiled at both remarks from Ty and Sera. "As is just fine. The problem I'm not exactly a hundred percent sure on what that mission is just yet. This may sound crazy but I'm kind of following this higher calling of sorts. I think it wants me to change the galaxy. Whatever it is, we are going to touch the sky."
