[Saiyan Gains] Events leading up to this spar can be found here ________________________________________________________________________________________ "Certainly. I am called Turles. I actually underwent Saiyan basic training about six months ago, though have traveled around since and trained under some of the most knowledgeable teachers. Can't say that I've ever seen a paladin in action before though," stated the Saiyan as the last member of the corrupt dojo was dragged away in handcuffs. It felt good knowing he'd had a hand in dispersing one of the most notorious bands of killers in the area. Still, the Saiyan found himself intrigued. He could sense that this young man was significantly stronger than the poser of a martial artist he'd just knocked out. In fact, had Turles not intervened, he suspected the paladin cadet would still have probably succeeded in bringing down the clan. “Say, perhaps you'd be interested in a quick sparring match. There's plenty of room now that those riff raff have been taken away and they weren't even a decent warm up. I'll gladly let you make the first move,” stated Turles as he dropped into his newly learned crush stance. It still needed work, but there was no time like the present to test it out and learn. The offer was appealing to Alarion who had only just recently watched a hologram video of Saiyan battle tactics. He had learned a thing or two about the two main styles amongst saiyan martial artists and wanted to give the defenses he had read up on a shot. It would not be an easy thing however as the ape-like race was known for only two things throughout the universe: Fighting, and brutality. "Well met Turles, and certainly I would love to engage you in some hand to hand. Lets make it interesting eh? I won't use my sword or ki techniques if you agree to do the same. What do you say friend?" Alarion answered the Saiyan before placing himself in a guarded stance. The Avalonian was careful to watch the Saiyan's movements, and determined that his full strength would be needed for this fight. He ripped the human wrappings from his chest revealing pale white skin marked from the base of the neck, to the bottom of the stomach with violently jagged tribal tattoos. The tattoos glowed with a pale blue light as Alarion began to emit a low growl. Though the pair were indoors a fierce wind kicked up around him, and the very air seemed to ignite with cerulean flame. Allowing his full power to shine through Alarion rushed forward only to fade from view. The speed he had gained in weighted gravity training was unreal to a normal human, but the youth suspected that this Turles could more than match it. Surprise would be his only weapon in this bout, and with that sentiment he reappeared behind the Saiyan throwing a heavy uppercut towards his kidneys. Not waiting to see the aftermath of his strike Alarion dipped low, and extended his right leg as he pivoted three hundred and sixty degrees in an attempt to sweep the Saiyan's feet out from under him. The Saiyan was intrigued by the condition offered by the cadet standing before him. It had been quite a long time since he'd engaged on an exclusively physical battle. A grin swept across his face. “Yea, that sounds good. I too agree to refrain from using ki techniques and I don't really use weapons anyway,” replied the Saiyan. He could sense the strength in his opponent beginning to swell as he held his ground. Seeing the young man vanish from his position, he turned just in time to receive an uppercut to the kidneys. It stung quite a bit, but Turles held his ground and lept as the young man's leg swung across the ground. “Not bad,” stated the Saiyan warrior as he brushed himself off. Without warning, he threw a right hook at Alarion's left shoulder. Hoping to keep the young man on his toes, he followed up with 6 quick jabs aimed at spots on the cadet's body. Turles then let fly two knees aimed at the young man's chest followed by two additional jabs towards the cadet's ribs. Ending out the assault, he threw a left uppercut towards Alarion's chest and then dropped low and swept his right leg underneath the young man's feet. Jumping back, he decided to give his opponent a bit of a reprieve and to give the young man a chance to fight back before he ran out of steam. WC 238 Actions: Free. take A2 Crush Stance. Alarion's assault had backfired leaving him sprawled on the floor wondering what had happened. The Saiyan had moved with blinding speed, and struck each blow like a well aimed hammer causing searing pain to wade throughout the Avalonian's body. After a few seconds the youth had caught his breath, and was ready to regain his footing. Shifting all his weight to his midsection Alarion torqued himself first upward, and then down causing his entire body to flip up. The Cadet landed gracefully on his feet, and gave his opponent a low bow. "Well this is certainly fun. You seem to out match me in every conceivable area. I admit a match up like this has not been available to me for quite some time. I was starting to get a bit cocky trouncing humans with little to no effort. I thank you for the much needed lesson in humility." Alarion was nothing if not gracious, and truly appreciated a good fight. Sensing that he would not be able to win this fight, and not wanting to sustain any lasting injury the aspiring Paladin bent over to retrieve his shirt. " So tell me please who are these masters that have taught you to move in such a way, and how can I find them? I am eager to improve in any way that I can. It is obvious that I require much training physically, and tactically before you and I meet each other in combat again" WC 246 Action 1: get up Action 2: pick up shirt Action 3: ask questions |

Taking a breath, the Saiyan relaxed his muscles. “Ah. You're welcome, though I guess I did overdo it a little,” stated Turles as he returned the bow. “There are quite a few great teachers throughout the universe. I trust you're already aware of the existence of the famous turtle hermit. He's a bit of an odd old man, but he knows a lot of useful techniques.” Turles thought for a moment, deciding which mentors to recommend first beyond that. He'd learned much from all of them, but he definitely favored some of them over others. “After learning a bit from him, I'd suggest taking a trip to the planet Yaidrat. The Elder there has some excellent methods for increasing one's speed, which I consider quite possibly the most important physical ability in a fight. After that, Adel definitely comes to mind. His teachings are those of the mind, but many great battles are won in the mind before a single punch is even thrown,” the Saiyan fighter suggested. He then proceeded to list off all other masters he'd trained under. As he finished doing so, he thought of another useful hint for the cadet. Reaching into his pocket, he retrieved a small gem. “I learned of the existence of these in a tome I encountered on my home planet. Many other fighters seem to have gems similar to this one. They allow you to project yourself into another plane of existence and test yourself against other fighters. I'd recommend acquiring one if possible and I can even show you how to make them if you'd like.” WC 266/698 |

Alarion took a moment to carefully unbutton his shirt, and place it back on concealing the tattoos once more. The radiant blue flames that had surrounded him died off in an instant, and the youth was able to focus his attention on the stone that Turles had produced. "Ah the gems of telepathy! Master Ellias taught me of them back on Avalon, concentrated psychic energy forced inside of a carbon prism no doubt? I have been working on one myself when I can get the time, but Master Roshi is a bit of taskmaster as is my Paladin contact here on earth. I scarcely have a moment to sleep. In any event I should have mine completed in a day or so. Has anyone instructed you on how to calibrate them to connect with a specific person yet or is it all still random for you? I can't quite understand how it's done myself. Perhaps if you have the time later we can compare notes," The Avalonian rattled off glad he knew at least some of what the Saiyan was talking about. It occurred to him that the names of the masters that Turles had mentioned were somewhat familiar as well. ” I must admit I am at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to traveling. I do not receive payment for my service to the order, and I posses no ship. Do you know of where I could acquire a vessel for cheap, or hop a ride to another world once I finish studying with both of the renowned masters of this world? I would be most grateful for any assistance, as would the order I represent,” Alarion inquired as his ears began to turn red. An unfortunate side effect of being born to religious parents, the boy had no money to speak of. Even the slightest mention of it brought back twinges of old embarrassment from his primary school days, attending class in secondhand clothes. WC 329/891 |

Turles found himself pleasantly surprised at his new friend's knowledge of the gem. “I myself have only used my gem a few times, so I hadn't yet considered trying to reach out to specific individuals. It sounds possible though and I have run into the same person twice even if unintentionally. I'll have to study the gem further and see if I can come up with anything,” answered the Saiyan. As the youth explained his situation, Turles began to contemplate a solution. Ships definitely weren't cheap and he'd lent his only vessel to a friend so she could travel around. He'd figured that if he needed to go anywhere, Nail would be around to teleport him. The Namekian, however, had made himself surprisingly scarce since they'd returned to Earth and Turles doubted that Nail wanted to spend the next several weeks transporting someone they barely knew from planet to planet. 'Come to think of it, I think he learned that technique from Yaidrat,' the Saiyan warrior thought to himself. Perhaps another trip was in order, as a trick like that would be incredibly useful. “Wow, that sucks. I got lucky and made a connection with the son of a renown Saiyan and was able to begin my travels because of him. I'll tell you what. I think I can have a ship ready in a few weeks and I'd like to make another trip to Yaidrat myself. I'll bring you along with me and if I find what I seek, I'll lend you the ship so you can continue your journey to better yourself. In the meantime, you still have much to learn from the turtle hermit. Also, if possible, I would try to see if you can requisition a few books from your paladin connections, as Adel will take on only the brightest students. Anyway, that's the best solution I can come up with. You in?” inquired the Saiyan. WC 321/1019 |

Alarion took no time to consider the Saiyan's generous offer. It just so happened he knew of many texts within the Paladin's public archive that would be of particular interest to Turles, but he would have to make a stop on Avalon to procure them. At any rate he still had the prospect of another week of training with Roshi before he was to be sent off to earth's guardian Kami for lessons, and that was what he needed to focus on at the current moment. “I am most certainly in, and grateful that you would have me aboard. I feel as though there are many things you could learn from my people. The paladins are not only guardians of law, and order but knowledge as well. I have access to their electronic archives for my studies which I will gladly share with you, but for the real juicy books you have to pay a visit to the central public archive on Avalon. Anyways I'll be staying on an island north of the Kame house. Look me up when you're ready to go,” Alarion grew quiet for a moment, and looked as if he was in deep thought. One part of his training with Roshi was bothering him. While he had learned plenty, the Avalonian was to be given instruction over the next week in any technique that Roshi had to offer. Considering this he did not want to waste his precious time with the old man. Snapping out of his daze the aspiring Paladin extended his hand to shake Turles'. ”Thanks again Turles, I promise you won't regret helping me.” WC 271/1162 |
