Space Pirates! Difficulty: Easy Description: While investigating the ruins of planet Cauldron, your ship comes under attack by space pirates. They immobilized your vessel with some sort of electrical energy net and are now preparing a boarding party. Deal with them. Reward: 600 zeni, +5 DP, +35 all stats, +5 Rp Credits Bonus: +10 exp ---------------------------------------------- The demon lay on the beach right next to the ocean on his back, his crystal clear blue eyes gazing up at the Valhallan sky above him. Clouds slowly grazing by. He was exhausted. Escaping the belly of the whale took up most of the strength that he had remaining from the rocky crash to the planet, and he used the rest of his energy just to make it to dry land. His chest slowly rose and fell with each breath. His lungs felt like they were pushing boulders up a steep hill. "Look at what you've gotten us into now," Aku heckled the demon from within its prison. It had been quite some time since the last time Vash had heard the minotaur's voice. His telekentic restraint on the beast was strong, and exhausting most of his energy appeared to have weakened his hold. Needless to say, Vash wasn't exactly thrilled to hear his prisoner's voice, not now. "You can't even get up to your feet, can you?" "Just, shut up, Aku..." Vash scolded the beast. "I... just need some time to think. You aren't helping." "Well, you better think fast," Aku continued with a tone of disapproval. Vash had finally started to earn the minotaur's respect, and that admiration wasn't very strong. Seeing Vash in a weakened state wasnt going to do their odd little relationship any favors. "It sounds like we are going to have company soon." "Company...?" Vash said aloud. Aku was right, and that pissed the demon off. From a distance, Vash could hear the sound of an engine approaching. No doubt, it was a Saiyan recon squad coming to check out the violent entry of Vash's ship a few hours prior. It had taken them longer to get here than Vash had first thought, which was a good sign. But, he was in no condition to fight, and being detained wasnt exactly at the top of his list of things to do. His body protested as he began to move his arm. His entire form was sore, not only from the crash of the Valiant, but from getting swallowed and breaking free from the whale. His arm felt as heavy as his chest did. But, he knew he had grabbed whatever he could carry from his ship before he abandoned it. Inside the inner chest pocket of his jacket, he had stuffed his last remaining senzu beans. It wasn't much, but if he was going to ward off any attack, especially from a troop of Saiyans stationed here on Valhalla, he was going to have to do something to get into any kind of defensive form. The sound of the engine was getting louder as his fingers wrapped around the familiar nugget of energy. Time was running out. Running and hiding was no longer an option. He managed to get the bean into his mouth, and began to chew. The senzu crunched in his mouth like a peanut. The flavor was as bad as he could remember, bitter and sour. These things were not enjoyable to eat, that much was certain, but the powers they held within were a necessity in his line of work. Vash gulped hard and sent the crunched up remains of the senzu bean down his throat. The effects were almost instantaneous. He nearly jumped off of his back and up to his feet, and his eyes locked on to the ship. And not a moment too soon. The craft swooped down to the beach and landed a few dozen meters away from Vash, who was standing tall on the beach, ready for anything. The ship itself was roughly the same size as the Valiant, and, upon closer inspection, appeared to be a similar class. A lightbulb turned on above the demon's head as a brilliant idea popped into his mind. He was no without a ship, and this one would be a decent substitute. Sure, he would have to learn the intricate controls of a whole nother craft, and he was just starting to get used to the Valiant's own individualities. But, this was his best option. A small landing ramp extended from beneath the hull of the ship, and, sure enough, three Saiyan warrior's dressed head to toe in typical Saiyan army garb rushed out to greet the demon. Vash was a little familiar with the Saiyan army, he was no expert by any means, but judging by the markings on their chest plates, these were only second class level warriors. At full strength, they would have been no match for the demon, even in a three on one situation. And even though the senzu bean had helped restore his energy, he was still far from being in tip top shape. He would have to play this one smart. "Identify yourself!" the Saiyan warrior in the middle of the trio barked as he raised an energy rifle at the demon. Vash put his hands up in the air. "Easy there, pal!" Vash flashed a friendly smile, hoping to give off a non threatening demeanor. "My name is Tyran, I'm with the cosmic empire!" Vash knew that the Cosmic Empire had ties with the Saiyan empire. A white lie about being affiliated with the Cosmic Empire just might be enough to earn their trust. "I was on my way to planet Vegeta when I ran into an asteroid shower. My ship was damaged and then destroyed upon entry!" A little truth to mix with his lie, a good recipe for a convincing aliby. The leader looked at his subordinates, and then back at Vash. "We're going to need to see some identification. Do you have any papers?" "I did, but they were in the ship. I've got nothing. Tell ya what, give me a lift back to your camp and I can get in touch with someone who can vouch for me!" The plan was unfolding quite nicely. It was almost too easy. The leader once again checked with the others. It was clear to Vash that he had not been in charge of their little group for very long, and was still hesitant to really take charge. "Alright, that sounds fair enough, but, we're going to have to restrain you. It's protocol," the leader said as he motioned for one of the others to step forward and handcuff Vash. Damn, he cussed to himself. He was hoping to avoid that. Once the Saiyan got around to his backside, Vash back kicked him in the knee cap, spun around and grabbed him around the chest. In the same motion, he withdrew one of his demonsbanes with his right hand and held it up to his captive's throat. The Saiyan leader once again aimed his rifle at Vash, and the other one next to him followed suit. "Alright now, everybody just calm down," Vash instructed as he continued to use his hostage as a shielf. "Nobody needs to get hurt here, I just want your ship, and then I'll be on my way." "I'm afraid I can't let you do that," the leader responded, his eyes nearly piercing Vash's face. The demon sliced a little bit of his captive's flesh to show the other two that he wasn't fucking around. "Alright, alright, alright, let's not do anything hasty here. Just, release Yuri and we can talk this through." Vash took a few steps closer towards the ship, and the two Saiyan's tightened their stances. "I don't think so. This can go one of two ways, one of them nobody dies, and I think you can figure out the other," Vash slowly pushed forward as he spoke. "How long has it been since your promotion? Two? Maybe three months? Best case scenario for you is they demote you if they find out about any of this. I'm talking best case, you Saiyan's arent exactly known for mercy." It was working. He could see the hesitance in the leader. "Just hand over the ship, and I'll spare all of your lives, it's pretty simple. Refuse, and I will kill each and every one of you." The inexperience of these three was working to Vash's advantage. Thankfully, Saiyan's werent known for intelligence either. He was forcing them to think and act quickly, and it wasn't working out for them. A smile stretched across the demon's face. It was almost too easy. The two Saiyan's standing across from him put their weapons to the ground and held their hands up. "Handcuff each other, I'll give you the key before I leave." They did as they were instructed, fear being the driving force for these green backs. Once they were properly restrained, Vash told them to sit on the beach, and once again they did as they were told. If there had been a first class Saiyan among them, or even one with actual battle experience, this whole thing would have been a lot more difficult. But, after all the shit he had been through, this had turned out to be Vash's lucky day. Vash pulled his right arm back, and slashed his hostage's throat, killing him instantly. He released the body and it fell limply to the ground where it remained motionless. "BUT... BUT... YOU SAID!" the leader pleaded to the demon. "I know right, damn... I lied. That really sucks," Vash said as he strolled over to one of the energy rifles. He grabbed it with his mind and it rose from the sand and into his hands. It had been awhile since he held a gun. It was a good feeling, like putting on your favorite t shirt for a weekend night out on the town. The Saiyan next to him tried to get to his feet and attack, but Vash put a bullet right through his forehead, dropping him to the ground. Blood from the impact splattered all over the leader's face. The leader began to snarl. "You'll... you'll never get away with this. Reinforcements are already on the way. This incident had been logged--" His sentence was cut short by yet another bullet, this time going right through his mouth. "Boring conversation anyway," Vash said with a smile as he entered the ship. By all accounts, it really wasn't much different then the one he had just lost. Today really was shaping up to be his lucky day. "Looks like I have a new Valiant." The demon sat down in the captain's chair. The recently deceased did have a point. Reinforcemnets were most likely going to be coming soon, since the recon squad wouldn't be checking in anytime soon. He grabbed ahold of the controls. His mind went back to the vision he had of Rem. If the Namekian really was alive... how would he find him? He couldn't just hop from planet to planet, searching blind! He focused on Rem's energy signature. There just weren't any clues. If I were Rem, where would I be... where would I be... Well, if he really were Rem, he would probably be hiding out somewhere. Vash pulled up an interstellar map on the console. He had heard of a planet called Cauldron at one point. It had been destroyed long ago, but the ruins housed all kinds of degenerates and ingrates. It was off the radar, and a good place for anyone to hide out. It was a good a place as any to start his search, he thought. Who knew, maybe he would run into Revan along the way and kill two birds with one stone. But that was wishful thinking. The ship rose from the beach and began its route towards Cauldron. WC 1,942 |
